Howdy, I’m back again with another new Cuttlebug embossing folder, this one is called Leafy Branch. I rearranged the items on this card several times because I wanted to be stingy about how much of the leaves would be covered up – that’s how I settled with the half oval shape. Here again I tried to keep things pretty simple. The background is colored with chalks and I tried to use as light a touch as possible. Once finished, I went over it with a chalk pencil, to add just a tiny bit of shading to the sides of the leaves. The half oval is the largest of the set and is cut twice and offset just a little bit to give some dimension. The left side scallop is done with the Fiskars Threading Water Border Punch. Instead of lining it up to make a perfect scallop, I spaced it out and missed a scallop so that I could keep the flat edge of the paper.
The dotted embossed edge on the half ovals is another new Cuttlebug Embossing Folder…it’s very different though because it’s less than a half inch wide and as tall as the regular embossing folders. This is a border embossing folder and there are five different borders in each set. I know I’m going to love those because you can target different areas with a little bit of embossing without overwhelming.
I’m having fun with the Cuttlebug stuff so don’t be surprised if you see more. In the meantime hoop and holler – it’s Friday!

How is it possible that you get better with each card!!?? Just gorgeous. I hope you have a great weekend planned. We are going up north a bit to visit friends for dinner and unfortunately it is supposed to rain so we have lots to keep us busy inside the house. Painting, cleaning closets!! Oh joy!!!
I keep telling myself that I don’t need the new embossing folders, but you’re not helping me out with these beautiful cards! Love how you’ve used the border punch along the edge, too
Becca: There is nothing simple about this card. It is drop dead gorgeous and so delicate in its coloring. You are a genius in your concepts and ideas and you follow that through with gorgeous coloring and technique. I admire your work so much!

This is simply lovely!! I love the way you popped those cuttlebugged circles on the side and the chalking on the embossing is SOOOOO pretty!
This is lovely. I like the way you colored the raised image with such a soft green.
These are very beautiful cards, love the touch of ribbons, the unusual way you used the threading water punch, lots of balance – nice!
Where can we get the paper you use? love it.
Oh, the ribbon w/the pin is a wonderful touch. I like the embossing too.
Amazing and beautiful! I’m adding you to my blogrolls so I can get inspired regularly!
Becca, I love ALL of your creations, but I believe this one may be my favorite one!!! Last night I ordered Leafy Branch embossing folder and I just hope I can do it justice!
Ok, I love your site, but I keep looking for new stuff and it’s just not coming quick enough. You are so talented and I love your verses. Do you handwrite or stamp them? Please post more. Love it.
Becca, I love all of your cards and would be here forever if I wrote on every one what I thought was elegant about it. I must ask, however, where did you get the sliver pin for your beads? I love to use stick pins on my cards and haven’t seen that head pin any where.
I too am in love with these embossing folders and have to get more of them your work is amazing
WOW! How stunning! I’ll get a lot more use out of those border folders now that you’ve helped me see them in a new light! Hope it’s alright if I link you up? Thanks so much for the tips. You never cease to inspire! :O)
Can’t find your questions page, so here goes. Do you have directions on making those gorgeous ribbon stars? LOVE everything you do.
Beautiful and love the chalks. Neat way to use the punch-like the attached edge. tfs
Very very pretty card. I want to make one. Which border embossing folder did you use?
