New Spellbinders: Cute Flowerpot Purses

Hi there blog friends, how cute are these little purses?  Ha-ha – you’ll never guess what I used to make them!  No fair – you saw the the title but scratched your head and said “??”  Okay, here’s my story.  I was playing around with one of the new Spellbinders dies and I thought it was an interesting shape – heavier on the bottom, skinnier on the top.  Then it hit me, if I could assemble front and back, it would function as a purse.  So using Spellbinders S5-060 Flower Pots I cut two pieces using the largest Flower Pot.  For one of the purses I used the second largest piece to create the side for one of the purses I used small paper bags as a part of the bag.  Then to finish off I decorated using anything I could find for handles and closure.  Is this not the cutest thing?  I’m always in a bind when I need to do favors for our Stamp Club and now I know  I can pull them together in a couple of minutes!!

For the Flowerpot Purse above I used a small black sack.  For both flowerpot pieces I adhered overlapping on the bottom then adhered my flower pot front and back to the bag.  For the handles I cut/embossed two S4-345 Picot Circles and cut off the excess before I adhered them to the top.  The closure on this one is a piece of ribbon glued to the back edge.  The purse is locked by threading the ribbon through the bling buckle!!

SUPPLIES I USED – Red and Black Flowerpot Purse
Stamps: None
Paper: Assorted Cardstock Scraps from my stash
Ink: None
Accessories:
Spellbinders S5-060 Flower Pots, Spellbinders S4-345 Picot Edge Circles, S5-062 Lace Doily Accents

For the Flowerpot purse above, I used the second largest flowerpot to create the gussets on the side.

SUPPLIES I USED – Cream Print Flowerpot Purse
Stamps: Studio G
Paper: Assorted Cardstock Scraps from my stash
Ink:  Green Dye Based Ink
Accessories:
Spellbinders S5-060 Flower Pots, Spellbinders S4-345 Picot Edge Circles,  Spellbinders LF-002 Creative Pages Two (Tag frame and Buckle), Tim Holtz Hitch Fastener

I’m running around again today, but look for a video walk through on how to put these together this afternoon some time.  After putting several together, I improved the function of the side gussets so you’ll definitely want to have a look at the video to get that tidbit!!  Oh, and part of my video is frugal serendipity – I’ll share the source of my inexpensive front and back flaps that are the perfect heavy weight!!  I’ll see you later!!
