A Generous Person

Sweet blog friends, thanks for your kind words yesterday.  Really, I’m okay, it’s just something I wanted to share.  I hope I didn’t sound condescending because make no mistake, I have been guilty of needing to be pruned from the garden in some cases.  I try my hardest though!  Now, with that said, I’m peeking in because I had a chance to create some things yesterday and I’ll even have a post again tomorrow!  Now that the new Spellbinders are making their way out, I can use them to show you how they lay on your everyday cards.  I have a little secret for you – you are going to love the lattice I used today – I know I do.  Here’s what I did – I laid down my die template face up, then a piece of wax paper, then my paper.  It.cut.like.butter!!  I have my old Wizard sitting off on the right hand part of my work area and I took my template (face up)  that is now filled with little tiny square scraps of paper and quickly rapped it on the metal bar – like the quick snap you’d give when hitting bug with a fly swatter.  (I know that seems an odd way to describe, but that’s the only thing I could equate).  That makes all the pieces come out at once and I can sweep them up later.  I’ve gotten very good at this little maneuver out of necessity – I am always drawn to the more intricate die templates and now I’m able to move through my cutting tasks quickly.  Now I’m not saying you need to do this – I mean, you could risk damaging your template – but I’m happy to share how I unseat all the confetti. (Lol, lots of you already know this little trick ;-)

For my card today I’m using a sweet set from Our Daily Bread Designs called Thank You – ah, the wisdom of Proverbs!  I took a marker and outlined the inside of it  to get the drawn pink frame, then I covered my die template with ink and reseated my diecut for another run through the machine for the brown border.  I layered my sentiment on the new Spellbinders™ Scalloped Labels One (New).  As I mentioned before, I used Spellbinders™ Basic Lattice (New) as a backdrop layer for the card.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs – Thank You
Paper: Neenah Classic Crest – Natural White – 80lb, Bazzill, Die Cuts With a View – Garden Tea Party
Ink:  Amuse – French Roast
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Labels Sixteen, Spellbinders™ Scalloped Labels One (New),  Spellbinders™ Basic Lattice (New), Seam Binding, Bazzill Button, Leaf Pins – Joanns, Ribbon, Recollections Bling, Darice Pearl

Another rainy day here, but another full of calls from sweet friends and a shining “son” – blessings too many to count. Thanks for stopping by, see you soon!!

Becca, I too love that lattice die. I am sure that it will be one of the 1st ones I get. I love the way you describe how to remove the little pieces. I do it the same way and it works great. Wonderful card. The lattice die really creates a beautiful background. Thanks for the wax paper tip as well as the “whack” tip. I’ve already got the fly swatter move down pat, at least when it comes to flies; so I think I should pick up the technique of paper removal in record time. Thanks for being a bright part of my day!ReplyCancel

I thought your reflections yesterday were exactly correct. We never know how many days we will be given and life is too short to spend time unwisely with people or activities that are not rewarding or the best use of of our time .

Your card is fabulous as always! The lattice die is defiantly on my wish list . I am very happy Spellbinders will have a lattice die, because the lattice dies from other companies do not emboss it . For me the embossing makes die cuts look more finished
Thanks again for a wonderful siteReplyCancel

A while ago I watched a video by one of the die demonstrators & they suggested rubbing the dies with wax paper thoroughly before using. After you run the die through your machine you can drop it back side down & many of the pieces will come out. Some of the tiny pieces are more stubborn. The slight bit of wax that goes into the crevices really does help. I have also “whacked” some of the tougher ones. Occasionally I still have to pick out some tiny ones. Try a thorough rub with the wax paper. It usually does the trick.

New lattice looks very interesting. Have recently received the 2 sets of lattice that came out previously. They are wonderful also.

Anxious to see what you create with the new dies that will be coming. Love your creativity. I learn a lot about experimenting & most of all layering.

    Thanks Becca. PatReplyCancel

    Becca,
Hope you will be safe up there with Debby nearby. It does make for good creating weather though. LOL
This is just an awesome (my fav word in describing your work), love the lattice. I have not tried the wax paper but will do it next time I am cutting as just like everyone else experience the little pieces that have to be picked out – ugh! When will the dies be available as I noticed you do not have them highlighted so you can go to the Spellbinder website. I will need to add the lattice one right away!
THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR DEVOTION AND DEDICATION TO ALL OF OUR “SPORT~”.

Becca, Just love this background so many things to do with it, you make everything you do look “beyound words” and I so enjoy opening your emails before any other one.

Just last year I too decided with a heavy heart that I was only going to make cards for the people that “truly Loved them” I spend so much time “doing for others” and making sure everyone gets a card for their birthdays and what knots but I do not get any in return I truly mean any other than my kids and husband and I must send out at least 50 just to family alone, I felt a saddnes that I didn’t want to make them so I started making them fo r church and others I couldnt just stop because that made me sad. We all need to clean our “gardens” once in awhile .
You are such a blessing to all of us.ReplyCancel

SO LOVELY & SUMMERY!!!!!!!!!!!!! I DOOO like that lattice die!!!!!!!! :) Thanks Becca!

I didn’t get to comment on Sat. For some reason, the little “comment” thingy wasn’t there & I thought you were just putting it out there…no comments! So, here is my comment for that day! :)

I KNOW EXACTLY what you mean about “prunning”!!!!!!!!!! We had to do this about 6 years ago now! The MAJORITY of the people didn’t like it & STILL DON’T! But, when someone(s) DRAG you down….try to DESTROY….just make you FEEL AWFUL…CONTROL YOU,…..ETC., IT’S TIME!!!!!!!!!!! Life is HARD ENOUGH that you don’t need that added grief!!!!!!!! People NEED TO LEARN to stay within their bounds, keep their noses to themselves, worry about themselves & their issues & stop trying to control others! What you said DOESN’T sound condescending AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!! WHO NEEDS THE DRAMA???? Not me & I dare say many others don’t want it either! Life is BEAUTIFUL WITHOUT all the drama!!!!!!!!! It’s PEACEFUL!!!!!!!!! Enjoy your new found peace Becca! (Believe me, those people will STILL try to spoil it! ) HUGS!!!!!!!!!!!! :)ReplyCancel

Thanks for the tip with the wax paper and the wack!—-I will give it a try. I had to read your desciption about how you used ink on the die to get the brown edge on the whilte Labels 16 – and then read it several more times just to make sure I could picture it all in my head…I think I’ve got it. I am sure it’s all so clear for you and I always appreciate that you try to explain your techniques to us, so even though it may take us awhile to grasp how you did something, please don’t stop those explanations. I love this card and the colors and I’m ready for the release of all the new Spellbinders dies! Thanks, BeccaReplyCancel
