Some time ago I asked what kinds of card you wanted to see me attempt. Overwhelmingly the answer came back to see more masculine cards. Well I honestly ran and hid because I did not know where to start. It is said that one often meets their destiny in the road they take to avoid it. There’s no doubt that I was avoiding making masculine cards until Our Daily Bread Designs revealed their April Releases. There are two sets that deal with men, mens birthdays and Father’s Day called Dad and Happy Father’s Day. I think I had myself convinced that a man card could not have a bow . . . I changed my mind. If man can wear a tie or a bow tie – I’m gonna put a bow on his card :-) That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it!
I know this is an unconventional card – that’s just where my muse went today. I created a background using three Spellbinders™ Mega Ovals LG and matted them using Spellbinders™ Jumbo Scalloped Borderabilities® Petite. For embellishment I used my favorite Spellbinders leaves, Spellbinders™ On the Vine Border Grand. I took my design to the inside this time . . .
On the inside I fashioned a tag using Spellbinders™ Ribbon Tags Trio Two and added scallops to the bottom. The K & Co paper I selected is rich and earthy and to me, suited to a man, even though it has flowers. I can’t wait to get more "men" cards in the works.

Becca – After reading the inside quote, I thought it applied to you today as well…lol! God knew this stamp and paper were being made some time ago, and He knew your talent would follow the steps he had planned for you for this. And, since every man has “some” feminine side to him even if he won’t admit it, the bow adds to this card in just the right way. Keep up the good work now that you’ve gotten over your stage fright. Terrific job as ALWAYS!

This is gorgeous Becca, I put flowers on my husbands cards all the time, but never a bow and you have just changed my mind, he will start getting flowers and a bow. This would work for a man at Christmas time too. Happy Easter, to you and your family. As always, Becca, TFS!!! :-)

this card is gorgeous. when i was opening this i wondered if some ribbon would appear and … poof there it was. i sometimes wish you didn’t have so many cool tools. you know i “Need” them all. my shoppeing list never seems to grow shorter. how is that? keep the cards coming and don’t feel too guiltly. hey you might be stimulating the economy!
What a wonderful card for DAD! Flowers and ribbon work when the colours and verse are right. You couldn’t have chosen better!

To take the bow away is just cruel and unusual punishment! Thats your trademark Becca!!! If you are afraid of bows on masculine cards, try using a thinner ribbon. Thats what I do for my masculine cards. I was challenged to make a birthday card for a co-worker, male of course, and I knew his favorite color was red, no problem but I do everything girly, duh! I searched my stash, and came across a Paper Studio stack in 8 by 8. Perfect! I thumbed through and found a black and white argyle pattern. I used that as my mat punched butterflies out with my ms butterfly punch in plain black card stock and embossed them with irridesent embossing power. I doodled a flight path and glued the butterflies on and added a thinner red ribbon on top for a pop of color! He absolutely loved it!!! It was definitely a challenge because I knew only that he liked red. Well, I’m off the make hubby a birthday card for tomorrow. He loves ice cream and cheese cake, HUMMM!
Those are wonderful cards for a man. In fact they are the best male cards I have seen! These cards just prove your “magic fingers” can do great male cards too. Most designers have some great cards , and some bland looking cards , but ALL of your cards are great. In the year I have been visiting your blog I can’t recall one bland looking card that you have made. Not one! You are Amazing

I am liking the way you used the On the Vine Border with the Prima Flower. The colours are great. It’s not a traditional male card (fishing poles, hammer and saw) – it’s WAY BETTER! :-) Happy Easter!

I love the colors of this card and that paper! I think that bow just makes it too pretty for the Dads in my life. It would be great for Mom! : ) I really like what you did with the inside, that by itself is a great card for a Dad! Men do enjoy and grow flowers so why not have a floral pattern, esp with the earthy colors, its great!
Hey! That is a yummy one as ever…… Could I ask u for a favor???? Would u please help me with directions to make a simple yet elegant bow like you make……. It looks kinda PERFECT!!!!! But if u could help me with any basic….. I will try & improvise…… PLEASE!!!! I tried but have not succeeded till date…… And I always admire your works of perfection..those elegant bows……. :-)

Most of the older men in my family are into their gardening and this kind of card would work well for that kind of man as it does have floral paper but all of the colour scheme is very…like you say – earthy.
