It Is Well

Hey there friends!  We were hit by a little bit of a cold snap . . . I kept thinking, really?  Where is winter?  I live in a very mild area but have enjoyed the crisp air the last couple of days – when you walk outside you can practically drink it in!  I even had to turn the heater on briefly.  If it’s this cold here, I know it must be freezing every where else.   What better excuse to sip on yet another cup of yummy coffee!!   Snuggle up and read your stamp magazines, okay?

This is a card I worked on earlier this week and I guess I was in the same clean and simple mode.  I used Spellbinders™ Crosses Two and layered on Spellbinders™ Picot Edged Circles followed by another layer using on the center part of the cross.  Since the the overall look is one of filigree or ornateness, I selected Spellbinders™ Damask Accents to frame the corners on one of the layers.  So often someone leaves a comment that they don’t think they can duplicate the card, but I assure you, you can!!  The filigree look of the dies makes it look complicated, but these are simple layers that give the illusion of being complicated.  I hope you’ll give it a try.

Everything about this card is perfect….especially the blues and cremes. I have been following your blog for a while now and can definitely say this is a Becca card. The only die I don’t have that you used is the Crosses. But as soon as I buy the set, I only hope I can come close to making this gorgeous card. TFS!!ReplyCancel

A beauty Becca. Delicate yet complicated and colors are so stunning together. Love your dies you chose and the ribbon and lace, touching quote!!ReplyCancel

  • ChelseaFebruary 11, 2012 - 8:29 pm

Becca, that is absolutely lovely! Gorgeous color combo. The layers add so much interest to the card. But anyone who knows the words to the hymn will know that is the best part of the entire card. Blessings to you!ReplyCancel

Guess it’s cold everywhere. It certainly is here. Your card is awesome. I love the way you’ve done the filligree, and you explained it so well. The Crosses 2 set is definitely on my wish list. I’ll be singing that hymn now, but maybe I need to. Things aren’t really well with my soul right now, but they will be. Thanks for your continued inspiration.ReplyCancel

  • Mary HFebruary 11, 2012 - 9:04 pm

Becca, the colors are perfect together. Very serene & elegant, fit so well with the sentiment also. Love how you have layered the dies to achieve this lovely effect. Can’t wait to get my set of Crosses 2…that will be my first of the CHA S/Binders, once they are shipping. I have a set preordered, then will look at the other new that you used. I have the picot circles, but somehow, your effects are so much prettier than mine! TFS. Cold in Upstate SC tonight as well, very windy today.ReplyCancel

  • sherry gardnerFebruary 11, 2012 - 9:27 pm

I love the size of this card…and the sentiment is one that I have been dwelling on lately….and of course this card is beautiful….every time I come and visit you I am amazed…and when I leave I am filled with warm fuzzy feelings….you and your blogging truly blesses me….:)ReplyCancel

  • DiannFebruary 11, 2012 - 9:39 pm

Becca, I’m so sorry but this is not a card I care for. I think it is the bow. Whatever is in the middle of the bow just takes the beauty out of the rest of the card for me. Also it is the same color wave as the last card you just made. I love seeing your work Becca and often “copy” it, but this one is not a keeper for me. A loyal follower.ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca

well i have looked at all 380 pages of your blog and learnt so much along the way. Feel like i come to know u. It has taken me 3 days to complete and stopped and made one or two cards along the way. I too am getting a fetish for ribbons but not got quite as much as you lol. I didn’t know there was so many ways to tie a bow. But have had a play and getting there. Best to start on wide ribbons you say , lol my widest is 15 mm. Want to try the crape flowers and bows with the stitching on the edge. (I have a sewing machine).
A wonderful blog and will keep coming back to learn more.
Todays card another grand design. Your a very clever woman.ReplyCancel

Becca, this card is gorgeous!!! I recently ordered this stamp from ODBD. I love how you used the crosses and the lace is so beautiful. Please don’t let the “less than kind” words discourage you at all. I will pray that “It is well with their soul.”
    Hugs,
    CindyReplyCancel

I do love how you put different dies together in unusual ways. Perhaps you could share with us sometime how you do that?

Cold here in western New York. We’re expecting wind chills at or below zero. Plus, it’s been snowing since Friday night, and it’s not expected to let up until early Monday. Not sure how much we’ve had – probably not more than a few inches, yet the snowplow has been here twice already to clear the driveway. Not looking forward to driving to church Sunday evening, but I have to be there! We knew winter would arrive sometime!ReplyCancel

Beautiful. I always leave your blog singing for the rest of the day. Here in the UK we are also enduring a “cold spell”. Snow ice and freezing temperatures. I’m not a fan of the white stuff. It looks beautiful but that’s about all. I won’t be unhappy to see it go.ReplyCancel

Becca another beautiful card!!….you say it is simple and it probably is, but it has the look of being complicated because of the combination of the dies which are beautiful…and blue and cream/white are always so fresh looking.
I live in Bonnie Scotland and the weather here is definately cold brrrr! but not just as bad as last year when our roads were treacherous and our airports were closed due to bad weather ….well, not so far anyway!

    Becca,
Thanks once again for showing me a different way to use a tool. I loved the patterns on the Spellbinders crosses, but could not think of a way to use them (other than as crosses). But, you did it !!!! I so look forward to your posts. Keep the creativity coming.ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
I love the cards you are making. I have not seen any of these spellbinders in my area. I guess they will be coming soon.
It is very cold here. It was about 10 degrees this morning. It is 20 now & the sun is shining. I am going to make my valentine card for my husband & then I am going to make a coffecake that I invented many years ago for my children christmas morning. I used my husband for some friends that were over & my daughter gave me what for so I am making another for him.

Becca, you get more out of a die, than anyone in the world. It’s truly amazing what you come up with. I’d love to have your brain for a couple of hours, just to see what we dull normals don’t. Your card is lovely, as usual. As far as weather, Francine (8th comment) described it perfectly. We’ve been spoiled this winter, but now it’s getting cold.
