An Early Happy New Year

Squeezing in one more post before the new year, this is my last blog post for 2010!!  Since these new goodies graced my mailbox yesterday, I decided to polish off my year with some fabulous new offerings from JustRite Stampers.  Justrite is introducing a new set that falls smack dab in the middle of my tools I always use list.   They designed a Happy Everything  Tag Making Kit that includes your most used sentiments plus the perfect die to cut them out.  Whoopie, no more searching for a small sentiment to fit on the card – just stamp, cut and any occasion is at my fingertips.  So I put this baby to the test today.  I’m using the roses from the new Greatest Joy Borders and Centers Set and having a little bit of room at the bottom, I put my Happy New Year sentiment on the layered tag.

Here’s the Happy Everything Set so that you can see what it looks like:

HOW IT’S MADE:

1.  Make Card Base – mine is 5″ x 7″
2.  Cut a scant mat and design paper smaller than previous layer, adhere using foam tape.

3.  Using border punch, cut border, line with mat and design paper, adhere using foam tape.
4.  Embellish with pearls and tie ribbon
5.
Stamp border, then cut/emboss using Classic Ovals LG #4, adhere using foam tape.
6.
Cut/emboss Classic Scalloped Ovals #3, adhere using foam tape.
7.  Stamp, and color, then cut/emboss using Classic Ovals LG #4, adhere.
8.  Using JustRite Happy Everything – cut/emboss one of largest notched tags.
9.  Using JustRite Happy Everything – cut/emboss one of smallest notched tags from accent color.
10.Stamp sentiment, then cut/emboss using JustRite Happy Everything Tag – largest tag rectangle.
11.Layer then adhere tag using foam tape.

SUPPLIES I USED:

Stamps: JustRite Happy Everything Tag Making Kit, The Greatest Joy Borders and Centers
Paper : Bazzill, K & , Watercolor Paper
Ink : Stazon Jet Black, Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Accessories : JustRite Happy Everything Tag, Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals LG #3 and #4, Spellbinders™ Classic Scalloped Ovals LG #3,  Ribbon, pearls, Martha Stewart Double Arches Border Punch.

Thanks again for a great blogging year!!  You’ll definitely want to stop by tomorrow morning as Our Daily Bread Designs kicks off new designs and accessories as well as a chance to win them!

  • JerilynnDecember 31, 2010 - 1:11 pm

QUESTION: Are you saying that the lacey layer under the ovals is a punch and NOT a Spellbinders die? I’m assuming that would be a Martha Stewart Punch as I do not recognize it as a Spellbinders die.

I don’t have real good luck using the corners and the edgers together to get this look. I can make a corner and I can do and edge but somehow I can not get them to hook up like yours. Is there a trick to this?ReplyCancel

QUESTION: I am back from my trip to Michaels. I was able to get the double pack with the punches you used on this card. I am going to play with them and TRY to get a rectangle where the edge and the corner punches will line up. I’m using the paper instruction sheet that is packaged with the punches which I’ve used before and I have not been successful with before. Any chance you can do a tutorial on how to get this process to work or do you know where there is a tutorial already available that can walk us through the process step-by-step? I sure hope you answer this to everyone. I’ve read the above comments and there are others who seem to need this direction also…..so I know I’m not alone.

THANKS BECCA! Your card is gorgeous.ReplyCancel

Love this card, had to go to Micheals and get that punch, not bad when 50% off so it worked okay. Love what you did. I think that I will get alot of use out of the punch. Thanks, just another way to spend money!Love your stuff!!!ReplyCancel

  • Merrily SchulzJanuary 2, 2011 - 7:41 pm

okay, I had to make a coment on what Jerilynn said too. I agree. I have been working on this punch and it is hard to line up. How many trys did it take for you? I don’t want to ruin a bunch of paper. Thanks. I love it,but it is hard to line up. You have to be excact.ReplyCancel

  • JerilynnJanuary 2, 2011 - 9:25 pm

AAAAAAAA……Merrily, are you getting it to line up yet? I have one that ALMOST makes it. I can use it if I put a flower on the one corner and it’s not bad, but I just am not able to get this guy to line up. What am I doing wrong? (that was in a whiny voice) Oh I am using just cheapo very lite-weight cardstock. I don’t want to waste good paper while practicing. It is lighter than good cardstock but just a tad bit heavier than text weight paper you would use in the printer. Does that make sense?ReplyCancel
