Autumn is a Second Spring

Hi there friends!  I have a card to share today and have been having a fab time cutting and testing out dies.   I’m not stuck but so much in a groove that I’m enjoying right now with clean cut die cut cards with a classic flair.  My mom is watching me create and was quite tickled with this card and of course it’s so much fun having her here that listened intently to her advice.  She especially loved the use of vellum to give a soft muted look at the pattern, texture and pearls behind everything.  I hope it’s not too soon to think about Autumn, but I am with this lovely sentiment by Quietfire DesignAutumn is a Second Spring.

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design - Autumn is a Second Spring and Spellbinders Renaissance Border One, Astoria Decorative Elements, Spellbinders Astoria Label, Spellbinders Loopy Roll Flowers - full supply and instructions at www.amazingpapergrace.com
I used four dies on this card.  The background is made using three border strips of Spellbinders Renaissance Border One.  The frame is made using Spellbinders Astoria Decorative Elements and using Spellbinders Astoria Label  to cut the aperature and the vellum.   The golden leaves were made using Spellbinders Loopy Roll Flowers.

Walk Through on How to Make the Card

Base
The base of the card is 6″ x 7-1/4″ on cream card stock.  I used gold paper cut to 5-7/8″ x 7″ as a background to layer on three strips of the Renaissance Border One which are combined by overlapping the edges.

Focal Panel

The Astoria Label Decorative Elements is pretty lacey, so I thought it couldn’t clash and you’d be able to see through it well.  I cut the largest die and cut the aperature then layered vellum behind it, attaching the vellum with Ranger Glossy Accents.

Embellishment
I used a bow to span the card and thought filigree gold leaves would be a different embellishment that didn’t get in the way of the bow.

    Hi, Becca,
I love, love, love the ribbon-bow-pearl flower-gold leaf embellishment – so beautiful! Bringing the ribbon over the bow is something I just wouldn’t have thought of. It gave the perfect base for the flower and leaves. You’re just so creative that way!

It’s wonderful to see you playing – as you heal.
    Love and blessings, SandyReplyCancel

I must admit, I would love some more summer, before I start thinking of autumn, but with that said, this is an abasolut stunning card. I just love your use of gold on your cards. It looks just like a million every time, and this is no different, and I absolutely LOVE it.
I hope, you´re having a joy of time with your mum there, it´s a real treat to have that chance.
Have a wonderful summer now sweet lady and enjoy every minute.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca, (I hope you received my Jacquie Lawson Thank You) Sometimes people won’t open it thinking it is spam.

Love your card today. And love the fact that your Mom is near. I can almost hear a giggle in your voice. You must feel very loved. Your card is spectacular. Each element stands on its own, but compliments each other. Love the Gold. When you told us what gold foil paper you used, I ran out to Hobby Lobby and bought it. I love it and it is beautiful with any die-cut.
Rest well and heal quickly? Hugs,

Hi Becca, Yes, indeed, I agree with your mom–this is classic elegance with bold gold card stock softened by the vellum. Can’t beat this basic look for lots of occasions. I don’t have all of dies but enough to copy the feel and look of your winner card. Thanks to you and your mom for another great idea of combining die cuts, stamps, and materials. Your bows are a study in themselves. BarbaraReplyCancel
