JustRite Crafting For a Cause
In an effort to find an early diagnostic test or screening tool for Ovarian Cancer, JustRite Crafting For a Cause will donate 20% of the sales from Be Strong and Courage and Strength in 2011 to Ovarian Cancer Research. The second of the two Crafting for a Cause sets, that I’m showing today is called Be Strong. As I mentioned yesterday, it is JustRite’s first set of clear stamps. This set, like most you’ve seen over the past years was designed by JustRite’s stamp illustrator, Amy Tedder. This cause is near and dear to her heart as she is a six year Ovarian Cancer survivor. I hope you’ll take a second and read her story HERE. 
I designed a card today around the teal ribbon which corresponds with ovarian cancer. One of my favorite new dies is Spellbinders Postage Stamp; used along with Spellbinders Classic Squares LG, I think it makes such a unique frame. I know I’ll get emails about this, so I’ll whisper what I did if you promise not to tell, lol! The frilly, lacey die inside the postage stamp is really Spellbinders Holly Motif – I simply cut off the small holly leaves to show you that it’s going to be a dazzling holiday die cut but with use of your handy, dandy exacto knife you’ll be able to to put it other uses too. On top of those two elements I cut/embossed Spellbinders Classic Ovals LG for my focal stamped element. Along the bottom of the card I had what I thought to be an unlikely pairing however once they were cut (using Spellbinders Classic Scallop and Classic Petal Edgeabilities) I simply loved the combination. Although I already had a lot of edge treatments, I couldn’t resist one more so I added in a panel of scallops that seemed like a great place to lay a row of lace. Whew!! Although today I used teal and yesterday pink, take a gander at all the list of ribbon colors below

What a wonderful set to celebrate survivors and those battling this terrible disease! It seems so many of us know someone dealing with cancer. In fact there is one couple in my church who are both battling different forms of cancer currently. I lost my father in 1994 to lung cancer. So many things have changed/advanced since that time. It is my sincere prayer that one day we will find the cure for cancer. In my father’s case I know he has gone on and has a wonderful cancer free “new body.” Thanks so much for sharing your creative talents Becca! You never cease to inspire and motivate! Blessings!

My sister has a very rare form of cancer called Carcinoid. Their color, or colors are Zebra stripes. She wears one of those rubbery bracelets with the Zebra stripes on it. They chose that for their emblem because no two carcinoid patients are exactly alike… just like Zebras. Perhaps your contact could add that to their list to raise awareness for this always fatal form of cancer. Chemo and radiation are not effective against it and the medication is not approved by insurance companies because it is so rare, yet it costs about $2000 a month. Thank God they have a small support group so they don’t think they are crazy as well as very ill. It took my sister many painful years to get a proper diagnosis (which is usually the case) and when she did they had to remove one lung. Since their is no cure, the averagel lifespan of a Carcinoid patient, once diagnosed, is seven years. Thank you for being part of this awareness… now you are even more aware.
love lvoe love the way you turn one thing into another more usable thing. thankfully there isn’t much cancer running in my family, only colon cancer in two aunts.. my family has heart disease in a big way and another disease which causes blindness.

Thank you for sharing this – Little did I know that even prostate cancer had a ribbon. My DH is scheduled for an operation next month and the waiting is SOOO difficult. Luckily he should have been diagnosed early – as he had NO idea and no symptoms – but was caught in a blood test screening. In some trange way this made it even more difficult to grasp that he was ill, as he feels no different today than the day before all the tests – apart from all the worrying and thinking that is….. We work hard on thinking positive thoughts and believing that the doctors will be able to remove it – as it has not yet spread outside the prostate gland. FIngers crossed and prayers said we look forward to good news in early September. As you write above – seems like everyone is affected by cancer !!!

Another beauty, Becca. My dad had prostate cancer and recovered and mom had non-lymphoma Hodgkins and recovered. So amidst the tragedies of cancer, there is also hope!!!
What a lovely card Becca, and a tremendous cause! A dear friend (since we started our nursing careers together in 1968!!) was diagnosed with uterine cancer just before Easter. She finished her radiotherapy a week ago and we are now trusting the Lord and praying for full deliverance. I must try to do something with a peach colour scheme for her. Thanks for letting us have the chart with the different ribbons.

What a gorgeous card for a wonderful cause. I did not know that there were ribbons for so many different cancers. I guess I need to get a green one, I had kidney cancer twice. I had a whole kidney removed and part of the other one removed also. I need a ribbon of honor as a replacement. I am cancer free, thank you God. One of my best friends just found out that her son has a tumor that is all over his brain. He desperately needs prayer. he needs a miracle in a bad way. This is indeed an atrocious disease that so many people are touched by. We need awareness anywhere we can find it. Thank you Just Right, I am going to purchase for the cause.

It is heart breaking to read some of the stories, praying for a cure! As with sympathy cards it is so sad to need to make a card for someone battling this devil. As always your card is stunning. I love how you pull all the various elements together. I am sure it will warm the heart of anyone receiving it.

It was love at first sight when I saw your most recent creation. The whole effect is stunning but it’s the layering with the holly accents that just knocks my socks off. You sure have the touch, the vision, my blog-friend.
Heartbreaking to hear the stories of so many afflicted with this cruel illness. Great strides have been made in research, but it is of little comfort to those suffering or the loved ones of those who lost their battle. Every September, we walk in the Terry Fox Run to raise funds for cancer research. What we raise is less than a drop in the ocean. When all the little drops are put together, it becomes a force. Every day, we inch closer to a full cure.

Your card is soooooooo gorgeous Becca. I really love, how you´ve done all these different layers on it, and the stamp is awesome, and for such a wonderful cause. I´m definately going to order this set, as a cure can´t be found fast enough, so all the help they can have is wonderful. My dad is one of 12 siblings, of which the 8 is now dead from intestine cancer, and 2 more has been throug surgery too. My mum died of loungecancer 3 years ago just before christmas, and my mother in law from stomack cancer 10 years ago, and 2 sister in laws havve had surgery for breastcancer, and I´ve had cellchanges myself twice the last 5 years, so I´m going to an anual control too, so we sure have had our share of cancer in my family. So I can´t plead hard enough, that people will support such a worthy case here, and I´m so grateful to both you and Justd Rite for doing such an awesome work here to get the message out and all your wonderful support. Thanks so very much to both of you for what you´re doing. It´s truely amazing, and your card here is just such a stunning creation to show this of. I just love it.

Such important images and such a lovely card. My dad died of Mesothelioma– also an incurable cancer. He was diagnosed and within 3 1/2 weeks, he had passed. He and my mom missed their 50th by less than 2 months. I get really angry often when I see ads on tv for attorneys offering their “services” for victims of this cancer. I would so prefer that any money available go to further research for a cure. When we first heard the word cancer, I had hope because there are so many positive results these days. Learning there was no chance of a cure was so hard. I have lost 2 other friends to incurable cancers. Any money for research to help save lives is so critical. Thanks for the awareness.

Another Becca masterpiece!!! I don’t have my new dies yet, but when I was ordering the holly motif set, I thought of the same thing – cutting off the holly. Maybe I have been following you long enough that I am starting to think like you do. This is one of my favorite cards. Love the design, and just love this stamp set. It is beautiful. I think we all know someone that has been diagnosed with this dreadful desease unfortunately.

As usual, you’ve outdone yourself. Both of these “Be Strong” cards are really touching my heart.
I so needed to hear that “Be strong”. super card Becca and such a needy cause. After having a double mastectemy for breast cancer and then have my right kidney removed for renal cell carcinoma I am now going in to have a lung biopsy for a tumor on the left lung this coming week. So far I am doing great ‘Praise the Lord’. Maybe this time they will find it to be benign. My heart goes out to all those who are battling ovarian cancer. I pray for cures for all these cancers.

Hi Becca, as always another beautiful creation and for such a great cause. I lost my grandmother on Canadian boxing day (Dec. 26, 1988) of ovarian cancer. She lived for Christmas so I know the lord let her be with us for one more, she was diagnosed Christmas Eve of same yr and given 8 to 10 wks I believe it was, I still miss her alot. My grandfather died of cancer that was everywhere less than a yr after he had a cancerous mole removed from his back in 2006. He was my best friend and I miss him daily. Father in law was never sick a day in the 26 yrs I knew him, suddenly he fell ill and was gone in 5 months with brain, lung and bone cancer. This is just the tip of the iceburg for me, the people nearest and dearest that I have lost to this horrid disease. I pray to god something will be done to stop cancer in its tracks and sooner than later. God bless everyone that has been touched by cancer in one way or another and ty Becca and JustRite for supporting a cause that is so devastatingly wide spread.

Beautiful card, Becca. And I love both stamp sets. I’ll definitely order – to use for various causes (alzheimer’s being my main cause), but have family and friends who have been diagnosed with various cancers as well – these stamps will definitely get plenty of use!
p.s. – thanks for the secret (shhh) about the holly frame – love it!
I was lucky when I found my ovarian cancer early, I had 3 people in my family that have had ovarian or breast cancer, I myself had 3 surgeries for benign cyst and fibroid tumors, but it scared me so I insisted on a BRCA test and an internal ultrasound of my ovaries when doctors told me I needed a 4th surgery, the BRCA came back abnormal and when I went for my last surgery they told me I was in the earliest stage of cancer, I was 40 and had to have a full hysterectomy, my insurance at first would not pay for the test and it was about 3000 that I didnt have, but my new doctor fought for me and ended up getting it covered, please everyone if in your mind you think something is not right do not let a doctor put you aside, and find one that will fight for you. My on my, it is so sad to read all the heart breaking situations people have gone through. I cling to the knowledge that this world is just a stop over and we all have to pass through death’s door to reach the gates of Heaven. Still, it is not easy for us as we are left behind with our memories of those we miss. I have lost friends and family to this nasty disease. I think of them often and with much love. I think the best thing we should do is pray . Think about it, then talk to God. He will hear us and answer in His perfect way. That’s the thing, sometimes His perfect answer is not what we want to hear but it is His answer and it is perfect. Sometimes it is just time to go home…… God bless to all……Denice
This would be lovely on a page for my brother. He passed away a year ago from stomach cancer. He was gone in only 6 months after being diagnosed. That was the amount of time the doctor had given him if he did not undergo any treatment. He did everything to no avail. I dearly miss him.

I lost my darling dad to liver cancer. He went to be with the Lord on Christmas Day a few years ago. Have also lost a young cousin, and several friends to this disease. Please God a cure can be found.
