Becca Bit: How’d She Do That? Butterflies

Hello there.  Today I’m sharing a bit with you about how I made the butterfly card.  I’m amazed how many emails I received asking for directions!!   I think it’s just an optical illusion and once you see how simple it is, you’ll smile.   Here is a video that walks through the butterfly panel:

Before I forget, let me remind you that there are still three days left to register for my current blog candy.  You can check out the post with the goodies HERE.

This is a card I created for a challenge over at Created ByHand called Are You Wearing Green?   It uses a wonderful sentiment from Quietfire Design called Wheresoever You Go.  Quick and simple and using my new favorites Spellbinders™ Mega Classic Scalloped Ovals LG and Spellbinders Mega Ovals LG. I also added a border to offset that tall oval – Spellbinders Fair Isle Borderabilities Petite.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Quietfire Design – Wheresoever You Go
Paper:  Making Memories, The Paper Company, Bazzill
Ink:  Colorbox Chalk Ink – Dark Moss
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Fair Isle Borderabilities Petite, Spellbinders
Mega Classic Scalloped Ovals LG, Spellbinders Mega Ovals LG, Ribbon

Thanks for stopping by!  Tomorrow is the Second Anniversary for Our Daily Bread Designs and we’ll be having a Blog Hop.  Oh, my goodness you gotta come and see what I’m showing tomorrow . . . just sayin’!!  Besides there is candy that you’ll want to try to get!!

I love it. I think that I can do this. Great and easy to follow tutorial. I have a friend who loves butterflies. I think I’m going out to buy the Martha Butterfly stamp, some card stock and envelopes along with various designer papers, write up the tutorial then make up a couple of cards (for her to use as a sample) which I will give to her as a nice little gift set. Then she can make up Thank you cards, or note cards or whatever she likes.ReplyCancel

All over the blogdom(is that a word?), light bulbs are going off, as we watch your Becca bits! Could you hear the cry of, “Oh! That’s how she did that!” rising from the masses? Pretty tricky there with those butterflies Becca. I like all the dimension flexing those wings adds to the card.
I really like the sentiment you used on your card today. Your cards always have such a flow between all the elements. Everything ties together so well. I’m still working on achieving that skill. Thanks for patiently “helping” us with your daily “bits and beauties.”ReplyCancel

Becca -Thanks for the tutorial ,I didn’t have the punches that you used but wanted to see if I could use spellbinders S3-038 Butterflies and it worked. I first cut out the butterflies (I was able to get 3) embossed then went back and only embossed the base color so when I put my butterflies and the wings are bent up you see embossed butterfly wings, I used Fiskars Border Punch-Give it a Swirl .
Thanks for sharing and making us all think out side the box.( When using spellbinders Butterflies I taped two sheets of card stock over one of the butterflies so it would not cut into my paper and only ran it though my cuttlebug just to the end of the one butterflies.IReplyCancel
