Hi there friends, I hope you don’t mind that I’m popping back in today. I’m working on a lot of stuff and since I thought up a Becca Bit using the items I’m working on my project with, I decided to take a five minute break to show you how I made a terrific embellishment for a future card and some for my stash. I’m strutting just a little bit because I didn’t have to run to the store – everything was from my stash, lol!! (It’s just the smallest things, isn’t it?)
I made some text covered buttons that I can either glue down as an accent or can use in the center of a flower. The button I’m making is on the large size – which I did intentionally so you can see on camera. I much prefer the smaller size which is probably 5/8″. Also I like to hit the shiny buttons with a quick coat of spray paint to dull them down, but obviously I didn’t do that today because I had not planned a video. At any rate, take a look – it may be something you want to add to your repertoire – *wink*!!
Wow! you just come up with the best tips and techniques. I do like using my itop but this is a great way to cover buttons that have the teeth. Thank you much.
What a fabulously fun idea! I don’t normally have spray paint around, but bet we could also use our Copic air compressor and spray it — question though, what color paint/marker do you recommend?
Becca, your cards a wonderful – I don’t think I will ever be able to come close to a copy. And thanks so much for your tutorials. I do have a question: Do you mail any of your cards and if so, what type of packaging do you use. Thanks so much.
Wonderful! Thanks for taking the time to share. I’ll be waiting to see where that delightful button turns up.
Blessings Bernie
OMG–you make it look so easy Becca–I love this tip– Going to look for these buttons with the teeth. Love the idea of putting text on the button. Thank-you so much for sharing with us. Hate to sound stupid–but what is an itop?
Hugs

pretty niffty, Becca. I’ll keep my eyes open for deals on the buttons. thanks for the ‘bit’.
I like how made your own emblishment. And thank you for making a video on how to make it.
Have a great day :)

Thanks Becca!!!!!!!! You have me wanting to make a trip to JoAnns’ & NOT the Hobby Store!!!!! LOL (It’s actually been a LONG time since I’ve been able to make it to JoAnns! Used to have one just around the corner from us! NOW, it’s far far away!!!!!! I’d have to have my husband take me!!!!! :) )
Thanks for the fabulous tutorial, Becca!
Thanks so much for the “Becca Bit” ~ I don’t think I would have tried this if you hadn’t shown us how easy it is!
Have a wonderful evening,
Barb
Becca, you are just so clever. Such a great idea – thanks for sharing.
Love it when I can use some of those “vintage” sewing supplies I’ve had around for years! Still like my old tracing wheel for making rows of piercing on cardstock.
Thanks for teaching me a new element to add to my designs
I’m going to hunt down those button covers. What a great idea, too! With everyone making flowers out of fabric and paper, these buttons with text on them would be great centers. Thanks again! I love all your Becca Bits.

Always enjoy your Becca Bits
This was really interesting.. I do not sew, so both of these items are new to me. I am going to find me these buttons and this material..Thanks so much Becca.
Thank you Becca for another great Becca Bit. I just love them. So clear and understandable. I love them. This is all new to me so I really learned something new today. It looks easy like something I can do. Of course you make everything look easy. ha ha
Thank you Becca again for your Bit.

Thank U 4 the ‘Becca Bit’.
I need 2 go through my sewing chest and see if I have any of them buttons left. Never thought about using them on cards. Thank U
ColleenB.
Becca:
Thank you for all the videos. It is like going to craft school. We don’t have anything available in our area to get all these great instructions. It is amazing that you can make all the beautiful cards and still find time to give this happy follower the instructions to inspire me.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. God bless.
Becca, I just love any chance to see anything you can share with us!! Twice a day — great — This is a super idea and it looks like something fun to try – off to Joanns
Another great Becca Bit. I love how the button turned out. You always have the nicest ideas. As always Becca, TFS!!! :-D
Becca, I mind – I mind – that you popped in with a video!!! NOT!!!This is so clever. If you are not allowed to say ‘brand names’ for the particular button that you covered, could you put in a ‘supply list’ at the bottom. I couldn’t make out the ‘teeth brand’ button, but I will surely be on the lookout for some and try this. It is SO unique (to me anyway!) TFS. Have a great day.
What a great idea for making buttons. I also have them in my sewing things and am excited to try this. My cross stitch supplies will now get some use. Becca thank you for always sharing your gifts.
What a great idea! It’s just as, as cute as a button. Thank you Becca for this neat idea.
I love Becca Bits! Thanks so much for sharing!
I love your Becca bits. I have learned so much from them. Thank you. By the way, when I was growing up my mother made all my clothes including covering the buttons!!
Thanks, Becca!! Think that I just might have everything on hand to give this a try. You always have the best ideas—thanks for always sharing =)
Thanks for the Becca Bit. TFS. Have a great day!
Honestly Becca, you’re working far too hard if you are asking if we “mind” if you pop back in today – LOL!
Thanks ever so much for a great, easy tutorial. I’m visually impaired so don’t haunt the sewing stores or aisles so I am always thrilled to find out about such neat items as those buttons. Am so appreciative of all the new items you have introduced into my world.

Love the video of how to make a covered button with writing on it. However, I can not catch what type of fabric you are using. I have listened 3 times and I am just not getting the words. {hearing loss makes it difficult sometimes.} {{Hugs}}
Thank you, Becca! Love your tutorials!
Very cool! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Becca,
Great video. I’ve had all the covered button supplies bought since the ITopper came out, thinking I could do the same thing as that, without buying into getting a whole new tool setup. Needless to say, I haven’t put my supplies into use yet, but they’re there when I get around to it. I had plans to try a “what-if”, as in, what if I snipped out the shank prong, and slipped one of the bazillion brads through the slot of the back, before assembling the button, making my own covered button brad? I plan to give it a try eventually, to see if it works. This would be my own little “making do”, rather than buying a new tool. If you try this, maybe you can do a little Becca Bit sequel, to show us if it works, or not.
Oooooh thanks, I have some of those buttons in my old sewing basket which does not get looked into very often. Will drag those out and try this. I love your Becca Bits!
Excellent tip! Thanks for sharing this. Now I can use little bits of leftover scrap material for pretty buttons that I have a hard time parting with!
Awesome idea, Becca!
I was thinking that one could also sand the surface to dull it as well. Do you think?
I love text too, I didn’t know you could do those without a tool to clamp them, I will have to check that out, tfs!
