Well blog friends . . . this was slated to go out early this morning but I’ll tell you what happened. Over the last couple of weeks with CHA pressing down, each time one of my kids came to the house I would tell them that I couldn’t spend more than a quick second, because I had a deadline. I know that gets old for even a 21 year old kid to hear. My daughter came to visit today and I couldn’t bear to tell her that one more time that I had something I had to do. She fully supports me but today I laid the card aside and gave her my undivided attention. I want you to know I had a wonderful time catching up with her!! I was adamant yesterday that I would have a card go up :-) Really, better late than never!! I’m so thankful for my friends here and abroad. I’m thankful to have the life I have and the freedoms that I hope to never take for granted. I also thank those that protect our freedoms, both here and around the world. I’m the widow of a veteran, the daughter of veteran, the sister of a veteran and very likely to be the mother of a veteran. I’m proud to say my card is being mailed out to a veteran to let them know how very thankful I am. If you are a veteran – any veteran, I’m thankful to you.
My paper is an Echo Park digital download from jessicasprague.com and for the sentiment I chose a new one from Our Daily Bread Designs called Sharing Your Sorrow. After printing paper, I simply cut thel motif out using Spellbinders™ Labels Twenty Four, added ribbon and bow. The sweet flourish is one of the new Spellbinders sets called S5-143 Jewel Flowers and Flourishes. My pennant flag is made using ribbon and I simply folded it around a corsage pin. I love the paper you used for your card, it’s so very 4th of July. I have that Spellbinder die and never knew how to use it, but you did a beautiful job and it fits well with your card, I guess I’ll just have to dig it out and play with it some. TFS. I too am a daughter of a Veteran, and am truly greatful for all the work our Military does to keep us free.Thanks to everyone in the Military.

Love the papers, dies, and everything about this lovely card. Please explain the EP digi when you have a chance…And thanks to all YOUR vets for their service to our country. I have a DH, Father, & 5 brothers, numerous nephews who served. ALL Vets sacrificed for us at home, and deserve everything & anything this country can give them in return. Appreciation of their sacrifice seems a small thank you, BUT…appreciate them we need to!!! And their families’ sacrifice of not having them with them while they serve. A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL!

Beautiful card, Becca. I hope everyone took a minute to silently thank everyone who has served in a capacity that allows us to have our freedoms. I’m an Army brat, and like most others who have left comments, the sister, aunt, niece, granddaughter and daughter of veterans. And I’ve worked for the military all my life. So, I’m definitely appreciative of everyone who has/is serving. And we need to remember, that it’s just not about those who we’ve lost in wars, etc, but all those who have served.

I was diagnosed with chronic daily migraines back in early March which prohibits my spending much time on line, and now they’re testing me for advanced Lyme disease. I’ve read everything you’ve posted and been here in spirit, but this was so beautiful, I simply had to let you know how I felt.

Hi Becca this is such a beautiful card as always, but you sure don´t need to appologize to us for spending time with your daughter, of cause you should and always shall let you kids and family come first. Anything else would not be right. As much as I love to see your cards and your work, it´s definitely NOT anything I take for granted either, but something I´m pleased to get, when I can and YOU have the time to share it, but we all have other things in our lifes as well.

A very beautiful patriotic card you can be very proud of as well as of our veterans. Our hearts do leap with thanksgiving to them for keeping our nation free. A soldier has a “calling” just like anything else in life. There is a tremendous burden on the family for this guy to do what he signed up to do. Hats off to the wives and mothers and grandmothers! as well as those children whose dads aren’t home.

Thank you for reminding me of the veterans in my life. I am the niece of at least 4 veterans that I am sure of. My mother is no longer around to tell the exact family history but she had 8 brothers and my grandfather was a farmer, so some of the boys stayed home to help with the farm and some already had families. My father enlisted right after Pearl Harbor and his wife at the time, divorced him because of it. They had a young daughter who never saw her father again because the mother hid her from my dad in spite. His daughter could recall him being sent away without seeing her after he had searched for and found her several times over the years after the war. We got to know her after his death… he paid for his patriotic act in more ways than one. I have a younger brother who has passed on in part because injuries during his service in Vietnam, And now, I have a grandson who is serving in the Navy. On my mother’s side we have family that served in the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. I celebrate our Independence but have some sorrow in my heart for those that have suffered on our behalf for that independence.
On a lighter note, Becca, your card is delightful and celebratory. Beautiful, as always. A bright note to focus on.
Hope all my e-pals south of the 49th had a great Independence Day. It does give pause, no matter where we live to give thanks for our wonderful quality of life, for the freedoms and values we hold dear. Also deep appreciation to the great men and women who protect them in all the allied countries of the world. Bravo to you! Spending quality time with family is one of the values we treasure. It makes me happy that you made the time for your daughter, Becca. Lastly, what a lovely card. It says it all.

I am always buying bits of lace and trim so my collection grows and grows but I seldom actually use them in my card making or scrapbooking. Looking at your examples inspires me to start using more lace and I love the elegance they add.
