I am absolutely wild about the new Nesting Bird stamp by Impression-Obsession! It’s so funky and different from my normal style that I thought it would make for a fun afternoon trying to figure out how to make it work. I decided to emboss it in white on white watercolor paper and use my Tombow Markers to make the white embossing pop. (Just so you know, Michelle at Stampers Dream is carrying the full line of Tombows now and she ships them out lickety split!)
Because I cut the image out and wanted to mount it on a dark background, I ended up cutting off much of the detail. To get the detail, back, I white embossed my dark panel which I cut with Spellbinders Labels Large, and seated the cut out image on top. I used design paper from Tiny Dancer, My Mind’s Eye, Bazzill for my main panel and the card base is 140lb Strathmore Watercolor Paper.

Sometime could you explain how you white embossed this stamp? I look at your cards every single day and have made several that look close to what you have done. I especially love that you tell us which color copics you have used. Thanks so much!
What a fun card!! Love the way you embossed it in white and coloured it in. The sentiment is fabulous and I love how you split it up into three sections. Great card.

Hope you don’t mind me leaving a comment but just had to say how totally awesome this card is.
The colours you used for the Nesting Bird with the white embossing are so perfect.
I love it.
amazing card !!! :)
This is a fresh and funky bird, and you colored him so well.
this is one amazing piece of artwork. I am in total awe of your abilities. Yes, i must find this stamp now. Is it a new release?
and oh, so glad you used Tombows cuz I own them and don’t have a single Copic. Can’t afford them!
Again…this is amazing…great job!!!
Fabulous
Hi Becca, It’s been a long time since I have commented, but I am still out here stalking. This bird is so cool, just love it. I just got some new IO stamps of animals and such so I need to check closely to see if he is part of my set. Love what you did with all his funkiness and really like how you filled in for the bits that are impossible to cut out. Great idea.
Totally amazing card. Never think of embossing white on white – how clever and so effective. I have Marvy Le Plume pens so daresay they may be similar to TomBow. And such a clever way of getting the full stamp by doubling up….I’m speechless.
You never cease to amaze me Becca you are a treasure chest of crafty gems.

Good evening, Becca. Oh my, I had to do a double take to make sure I was in the right blog- definitely not your usual style but extremely eye-catching, nevertheless. It’s the sort of card you have to look at again and again it’s so striking and with such an unusual layout.
Fabulous stamp made more fabulous by your terrific coloring! Just curious, how do Tombow markers differ from Copics?
wow – what a fab stamp. this is stunning!
OMG Becca! This is beyond gorgeous! I was so stumped by that image that I almost didn’t choose it when I selected artwork but I thought it was cool looking. You made it just so beautiful. I’m in awe of your talent!
I was not interesting with this stamp when I saw it the very first time but with your card, I know how is can be used, you’ve done a miracle …
Great atwork Becca.
La première foisque j’ai vu ce tampon je ne voyais pas quoi en faire, mais maintenant je sais comment il peut être utilisé. Tu as fait un miracle Becca. Très joli travail.
