Blessings to You

Hi there blog friends.  I didn’t mean to be away so long but I wasn’t really away, I just wasn’t able to sit at the desk.  My pinched nerve is back except the doctor doesn’t think its a pinched nerve.  It’s a long story but the boot I’ve been wearing while avoiding foot surgery for the last year has caused my hip some problems.  I’m trying to move forward with the foot surgery now but that seems to be easier said than done as another obstacle has cropped up.  Fall down (figuratively), get back up!  No worries, I managed to get into the studio – it’s the best medicine I could have taken today!!

For my card today I’m using a sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs Sacred Season set and was tickled that it fit right inside my ornament die cut.  I stacked Spellbinders 2011 Heirloom ornament (cut as a frame and wrapped with seam binding) on top of Spellbinders 2010 Heirloom Ornament.  For the corners of the main panel I used Spellbinders Lace Doily Motifs.  I added a little bit of lace and a little bit or ruffled seam binding and pearls.  Heavens, this took me forever but it sure feels good to make a card and set aside my worry.  I hope you can do the same.  While I was on break I thought about how therapeutic card making has been for me – it’s the best stress reliever I know :-)   I’m so blessed.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread DesignsSacred Season
Paper: K and Company, Neenah Classic Crest Cream
Ink: Versafine Vintage Sepia
Accessories: Spellbinders 2011 Heirloom Ornament, Spellbinders 2010 Heirloom Ornament, Spellbinders Lace Doily Motifs, Recollections Pearls, Seam Binding, The Paper Studio Brads

I missed the opportunity to wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I hope it was fabulous!!  Bring on Christmas, right!!!

Love your latest card and especially how your wrapped the ornament with seam binding, it gave it some a homey feel, AND I also love the narrow ribbon that used for your sweet little bow on top of the ornament. So glad to see you back on-line. Sorry to hear that you are still struggling with your foot issues and hopefully you’ll be able to have the surgery sooner than later in hopes to get your body back to feeling “normal” again. Wishing you all the best.ReplyCancel

Sorry to hear about your troubles, I did like the line “While I was on break I thought about how therapeutic card making has been for me – it’s the best stress reliever I know” and I have to agree with you. I came home from a very unsettling meeting, lots of bad feeling and bad temper! I went into my craft room with a thumping headache and came out later feeling totally calm and pain free.

Becca, So sorry to hear all your going thru, I can relate to the pain…I have rheumatoid arthritis and bought a pair of sketcher shoes, the kind that rock…well long story short, because of those (terrible) shoes, it threw off my gait and I could barely walk…it took about 3 months and if I walk for long periods of time still bothers my hip and back. My doctor told me when people get boots to wear on a injured foot they have the other shoe built up so not to do that. I hope your feeling better soon! Take care…ReplyCancel

Oh Becca I’m so sorry to hear about the foot and hip. You are going to kick yourself for putting of the surgery for so long. I did. :) For me it was just my great toe (it’s now held together with tiny wires, screws and staples) but it is amazing how once that was fixed my hips, back, neck and other foot all suddenly felt better. Whodathunk it. I hope you can get it done soon. When something prevents you from doing what you love you simply must do something about it.
Your card as always is a pure delight.

Ohhh, so glad you are back. Have been thinking about you every day. Sorry to hear about your problems. I have posted in my craft space a saying that goes something like this “Doing and Making are acts of hope, and as that hope grows we stop being overwhelmed by the troubles of the world.” I believe it’s true. And Becca, don’t ever forget that your beautiful creations are an inspiration to all of us. Thank you and God Bless.ReplyCancel

Becca, I am so sorry to hear about your health problems. If it is of any consequences, I have had 3 foot surgeries on the same foot and everything has turned out fine. It really isn’t a big deal, but the hip thing might straighten itself out when you get your foot fixed. I wish you speedy recovery and health. After foot surgery just prop your leg up to a comfortable height and keep making those beautiful projects. I am glad that you decided to go into your studio and relax and get your mind off things. As always you make the most amazing cards.ReplyCancel

We have all missed your beautiful creations but more importantly we are praying for your health issues. Along with my husbands horrendous back surgery came an army of prayer warriors….out of the woodwork, so to speak. Wow. We are so encompassed round about with God’s love and grace as we go through everyday trials of life. He is faithful and what he started he will finish. Truly, the joy he gives is our strength. I never understood that til I began praising Him for everything and then noticed I was so happy no matter what. Amazing. He is faithful to his children.ReplyCancel

Oh Becca I was wondering what was happening for you.

I know what you mean about standing/walking lop-sided playing havoc with your back – for me it resulted in repeated migraines for a while!

Do hope you can get the surgery you need soon. I was supposed to have foot surgery some years back, but it would have meant 6 weeks in plaster at least, so I put it off as I was too busy and didn’t have time for it!! My lifestyle has changed since then and I don’t have the pain, so now I can live with it.

Beautiful card – and yes card making is such good therapy – and far cheaper than a counselor – although we have the Mighty Counselor to go to.

    Blessings

Sorry to learn of your problems. Yes, feet are the core to our whole spinal system. I’ve had surgery on both feet and after fracturing my femur last spring, it did a number on that hip. Dec. 13 I have hip replaced, and can’t wait to be free of the pain and uncertainty every time I go to stand up wondering if I can walk or not! I’m told both hips have arthritis, but it’s only the right one that hurts, so hope one operation will take care of the problem. Don’t put off foot surgery. I was fortunate to go to podiatrist rather than osteo doctor, so had NO PAIN at all, as they didn’t use a tourniquet. I was waiting for all the pain I’d heard about and they just laughed and said that the pain is from the tourniquet most osteo doctors use when operating. Good luck. Prayers will be with you!ReplyCancel

Sure hope you can get the surgery soon so that you don’t have to keep experiencing this back pain, isn’t it crazy how one thing can lead to another.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca, I have only been checking your blog for a very short time but I love your work and did wonder why you had not posted for a while. I am truly sorry to hear you have been in so much pain. Be strong, you have been given the strength to cope I promise you. I have been living with spinal pain for 12 years after car accident and spinal surgery and the good side to it is that it gave me the opportunity to try new crafts including cardmaking. I love your style and am always smiling when I see and read your cards and blog. Please be well soon. Thank you for all your inspiration. Best Wishes Linda (S.Wales, UK)ReplyCancel
