Always believe something wonderful is about to happen!  It was like a miracle that I got home and that stamp was sitting in my mailbox from Quietfire Design called Always Believe; pure serendipity.   On the day I returned home I picked up the cold that was laying people out at CHA.  I didn’t want it but at least I had the opportunity to visit, do and see everything I wanted to see in Arizona before it got me.  I hate being ilde and sometimes we don’t know the reason why, but the last 5 days on the couch were a bit of a gift.  I’ve recovered, and feel great now!   I’m unpacking today and took a break to finish up a card started during the holidays – I didn’t know it at the time but it was just waiting for the right sentiment.

I’m trying to continue to figure out new frame configurations using Spellbinders Graceful Frame Maker Tool.  This is one using the Spellbinders Graceful Brackets border.  I also reached for Spellbinders (S4-478) Laced with Love as a wonderful accent for the frame.

If something wonderful is about to happen we’ll, let’s see. This would be the best that could happen. . .monday, I lost my companion, my Yorkie that had been my best friend for the last 14 years, my confidant, one I could trust my secrets too and wouldn’t tell, one who would listen to me and not judge, one that I could play with and take care of her myself, one whom I could just love unconditionally. It’s been hard this week, I’ve been lonely, what wonderful thing would be to be able to find another companion, a Yorkie like Lizzie but one with her own personality, she could be independent or she could be a needy puppy, whatever God would send my way. We’ve been looking, and looking, we will see if she comes to me. I’m a firm believer in bonding and for when I got my two kitties they showed themselves in wanting me by coming up to me and licking and wanted attention. They wanted me, they choose me, the other cats didn’t even come near. This is how I want my new doggie to do something wonderful by choosing me. So I firmly believe something wonderful is about to happen. Not an exact replacement, but a puppy who needs me and wants me for me.ReplyCancel

This is a perfect card not only for you but for me too!!! Soooooo beautiful and encouraging!
Sold the home I designed on 5 1/2 acres and shared with my husband until he slipped away to Heaven in October. Moving to a one-bedroom apartment at Capital Manor a few miles away in Salem, OR (this coming Tuesday). It would be WONDERFUL if I have downsized enough of my crafting to fit what I have packed to take with me into the apartment! The house contents were no problem, but the crafting has been a real challenge! God has been so gracious in keeping me busy and strong to make this journey!

And then in an instant, our plans changed and an adventure was in the making (but I digress).  Good morning sweet friends, I’ve just finished a trip to CHA in Phoenix, Arizona, where all the new crafts are on display and artisans from the US and indeed, the world, come together.  It’s always nerve racking for me but on the other side I get a huge creative boost because I get to talk to real people, face to face, who share where I fit into their crafting life!   It’s definitely a two way street – I create the things I love and try to find a way to give them to you in a way that lifts you up.  Why?  Because day after day, you lift me up.  January 2017 has been one of the hardest months of my life – a family event brings me to a place in my journey where life will change for me;  it has to, for my heart to survive.  But just as it has been a hard month, I can’t even begin to count all the blessings of new friends and a renewed spirit to embrace and celebrate each day.  As I encourage you to do, I’ll craft and create through it and love that you understand my vulnerability and faith comes out in all I create.

On to my card – using one of my favorite sentiments from Quietfire Design (waving hi at my friend Suzanne Cannon who saved time, hugs and a cup of coffee during CHA).  I reached for this stamp because I’m reminded that so many of our friendships are across the miles – it doesn’t diminish them but should remind us that others from far away hold us in their hearts.  This card is made using the Spellbinders Graceful Damask in a conventional way along the side of the card, topped off by a pretty bow.   I wanted texture and different details for this card so I embossed using a texture plate then rubbed over with Ranger Antique Linen Distress Ink.   I cannot find a name to link it up but once I’m home and can see the packaging, I’ll link it up.  Last, I used the traditional photo corners from Spellbinders Graceful Frame Maker, just to add balance to the right side of my card.  These are a favorite for me and their jumbo size makes them just right for card making.

And now a little bit more about that adventure :-)  My sister went with me to CHA again this year and instead of going home, we changed our flight plans and decided to knock one thing off of our bucket list.  Our persistence paid off because as night fell in the mountains of Arizona – we wondered if this wild hair might be our undoing.   Us Florida girls perceived Arizona to be completely desert and hot all year round – what a surprise.  Apparently our trip on a lark was on the cusp of a pretty bad snow storm.  The roads had been plowed but as the temperatures dropped, it became less obvious where the road really was.  And then out of thin air – a snow plow.  We fell in behind him and he got us through the last 30 miles.

Amazing Paper Grace - and then in an instant we were off on an adventure - Grand Canyon - January 2017
The parks oldest and probably most passionate ranger, Ranger Ron Brown, chatted with us about the park and what it meant to him and his wife (also a ranger) who lays at rest on this majestic site.  He said that we had come on one of the most spectacular days of the year.  Apparently after a snow storm, the snow clears the air for a crystal clear view of the Grand Canyon.  People say it all the time, but pictures simply do not do it justice.  This is God’s majesty and is a sight almost too glorious to take in.  I was humbled and the smallness of my daily life was certainly put into perspective.   Thank you for letting me share a day spent in breathless awe and wonder.

post-header-bottomLife isn’t about what happens to you but how you handle it.  Choices and options take the hard edges off of disappointment and mold what may be perceived as a down stairway into an up stairway – it’s all in how you look at it.  I struggle just like anyone else, and this month I’ve found comfort in the simplest things – three kiddos that love me – and a creative outlet and a community that keeps my face pointed up towards the sun.  I hope you will continue to visit – I consider you all friends and you are an integral part of my journey.

    Hello Becca,
First of all you show us the most beautiful card with a sentiment which is so true, as 9 of us meet up twice a year travelling from all over the length of the UK and Germany, and then almost stun us with photographs that defy description. The name Grand Canyon does not describe the majesty of the view.
Today I was at a Holocaust Memorial Service at my Granddaughter’s school, and seeing 10 and 11 year old Catholic children honouring the Holocaust was both moving and awe inspiring, and their reading of Survivor’ stories rendered us all speechless. We need more understanding of each other.

So glad you had the opportunity to take in the Grand Canyon – unforgettable inspiring views (even though I am sure you were shaking in your shoes traveling there – LOL! Your card is a show stopper too, as always…you do a beautiful job. Thank you for sharing Becca.
We had a snow and ice storm here in Salem too and I was housebound for several days. Each time I looked out our window lined living room windows I saw a panorama of white – on the ground, on all our fir trees and shrubs…it stayed that way frozen and shining like diamonds for days…finally it warmed and truly ‘overnight’ the white went away and everything was totally green in the morning. I looked out my bedroom window and was stunned and awed – let out a praise and said ‘spring is here!’ Well, it was actually in the 40’s so not exactly spring, but i felt that way after seeing white for such a long time – LOL! Still amazes me when I thing about it!

Lovely card today. I was able to purchase some of your latest dies from Create and Craft before they were available in the US. The first one of your dies that I used was the Graceful Damask die you used on today’s card. Love it. I am concerned for you and sending prayers for God to give you strength and understanding as you go through this new path of your life. Stay strong my friend and know others care. Your trip to the Grand Canon is awesome. I have not been there, but hope to do so. At least you did not have to battle the crowds. Now to your question: I had the opportunity to witness something awe inspiring that left me nearly speechless. My awe inspiring trip was to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Then it happened. Our cactI had blossomed huge white flowers. The hedgehog cactus had vibrant fuchsia-colored blossoms. After it rains, the desert has a carpet of green with flowers. My speechless moment happened many years ago. I was in San Francisco and had taken a trip to the Japanese gardens at their park. (This in itself was a biggie because I am fearful of traveling alone and took a bus from the hotel without my husband to guide me.). I found a big Japanese pagota-no longer there- and climbed up to a lovely view. I was filled with a sense of peace and I sat there and prayed. I felt God’s presence in that structure. I really believe that He doesn’t care if we’re Buddist, Muslem, Christian, or Jew– He loves us all and only wants us to follow His golden rule. He was surely there for me that day.ReplyCancel

You expressed so beautifully why you hold such a special place in my heart – through all the trials and tribulations of life you remain faithful to your purpose and bring all you have to it. WOW, Becca! What fun!!!! I love your card {{{hugz}}}.

Hun, do not ever feel like you are less than. You are a Masterpiece of the Master Artist… just as you are –so do not ever change for anyone or anything….mmmmk. God never makes mistakes.

Your adventure is what memories are created by so enjoy the moments with your precious Sister.

Sometimes God allows things to happen to stretch us and grow us but as you have said it is all about our focus. We can sit here and feel sorry for ourselves and make ourselves and everyone around us miserable or we can rise above by watching out for those treasures in the desert places. They are meant to draw us closer to our Heavenly Father. The best place to be is to use your hard times and help out others who are in that very spot you have just made it through. For myself , I reach out to the Chronically Ill who deal with Chronic Pain and the Abused as that is what I am dealing with and have been through and have survived, but I was tired of just being a survivor and decided to R.I.S.E { R= Refine, I= Illuminate, S= Sparkle, E= Edify} above and to S.O.A.R {S= Strong, O=Obvert, A=Aesthetic, R=Reformers} in Christ.

Anyway, I am so glad you had your fun with your Sister. Family is precious and to be treasured. <3 <3ReplyCancel

Hi Becca my cyber friend, I hope and pray whatever is going on in your life right now will fall in line as our God wills it to be. I have several events in my life that I have felt the same way and I now can look back and see how God allowed it to happen in order for better to come about. I pray you find peace . Now for the most awe inspiring moment in my life. There have been several, the day I first held my newborn only child, the day I saw the most beautiful rainbow I have ever seen in my life looking like it was coming down directly from Heaven with the most vivid colors you could imagine and the morning I awoke with an entire poem flowing from my mind about finding peace knowing my best friend was in God’s care after she passed away from cancer. It was about 8 stanzas long and I hopped out of bed and started furiously writing just to get it all captured on paper before the morning fog took away the memory. God is so good, I just wish all people would know this and honor Him by excepting Jesus as their savior and only way of salvation. My very best to you my friend, we have never met and I know you don’t know me at all but I have watched you grow for many years, since before John passed and I feel like you are part of my family. May God continue His many blessing for you and your family. Many Hugs, Denice : )ReplyCancel

Love you card, just gorgeous! Glad you finally got to cross off one item on things to see. As an Arizonan we tend to forget how beautiful the Grand Canyon is and what a marvel. I have been there a couple of times and still forget until someone mentions having gone there and how breath taking a site it is. You are right pictures don’t do the canyon justice. I have found that true in a lot of places. My hubby and I recently did a Panama Canal cruise and it was so much better in person than in pictures. Glad you had a great time in AZ and hope you come back again.ReplyCancel

    Becca:
This card is beautiful, as always. My story: I also saw the Grand Canyon in January. My then-to-be husband convinced me that we could walk down the South rim to the Blue Angels campground, and back in the same day. There had been a snow storm, so when we walked to the canyon rim, we could not see the path. A man yelled “heads up” and he steered a team of donkeys who knew the path and passed on through. That was the path we took. We completed the journey in one day – barely. That was the most strenuous event I ever participated in. We both survived, and I later married him.

I hope you can use more of the newest dies in your future cards so we can see for ourselves how versatile they are. We loved Grand Canyon and like you were engulfed in the magnitude of the place. We took an Alaskan cruise three summers ago. We saw so many amazing things including a glacier calving. I was stunned by the fresh clear air, and how untouched so much of the surroundings seemed. Babbie Mason put it best when she stated that God was showing off when He created Alaska.ReplyCancel

An awesome moment for me was at Max Patch on the North Carolina-Tennessee border. On top of this bald, grassy mountain, we had a 360-degree view of the surrounding mountains. And the quietness of this place was just as amazing as the view! The silence was only broken now and then by birds or the voices of hikers on the Appalachian Trail.ReplyCancel

A delightful card. Funnily enough my awe inspiring moment was at the Grand Canyon in September 2013. We had climbed up the hill from the train and as we reached the top this wonderful sight came into view and it brought tears to my eyes. It truly took my breath away. Pictures can never do it justice – the real thing is awesome beyond belief. Whatever your changes in life, Becca, I wish you all you could hope for and I hope your new direction will bing you peace and happiness. Good luck.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca, another beautiful card, but then, when don’t you come up with superb creations! My husband and I did a road trip from Phoenix to Las Vegas via the canyon a few years ago now during February. We got there just as the sun was setting, it was freezing and we went back very early the following morning and watched the sun rise. An unforgettable experience.

I love this stunning card and the sentiment. I’m still a huge fan of your border die collection and I am enjoying the ideas you share. I’m so glad I purchased the entire collection.

My grandson, Noah, is now 16 but I still remember the joy in my heart when I saw him the first time. His Mom was in labor doing fine until they suddenly lost his heart beat!!! God had things under control and a doctor was nearby to do a truly emergency C-section. The doctor said if he had been 10 minutes away, Noah wouldn’t have made it! As we waited in the waiting room, not knowing if our blessing was going to be alive, my 6’2″ son came out of the OR with tears running down his face. In his arms was this little bundle of pure happiness! I will never forget that day! I became a Grammy for the first time and Noah was perfect! I was there when his sister, Emma, was born without all the anxiety but nonetheless pure joy once again! God is so great!!!

I am praying for you, Becca, that you find peace in every aspect of your life! God bless!ReplyCancel

I too was inspired by the Grand Canyon Becca. Several years ago was my first trip to the canyon and it left me speechless. As I was looking down from an overlook I saw a dot flying around and after asking someone what kind of bird that was and informed it was an eagle. The significance of the grandeur around me hit me like a lead balloon. God granted me the health to visit other places like Yellowstone and Chalco Canyon. What a wonderful time it was to spend with my husband of 48 years and my sister and brother-in-law, now both passed away.Creating memories and enjoying God’s country. Becca I am so glad you could travel and do one thing unexpected. God has so many things around the corner for you when you do. Best trips ever is doing it on the fly.ReplyCancel

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Graceful Fans - fully supply list at www.amazingpapergrace.com
Good morning sweet friends!   Popping in today to share another card for Day of Giving Friday.  Since I’m at CHA I thought the sentiment I’m showing today would be so, so appropriate!  Do Something Creative Every Day.  WRBF-6001-2017
Today I’m giving away another of the cards made with Graceful Borders but it is done in the conventional way.  I’ve taken Spellbinders Graceful Fans and simply stacked it up to make a half-high background (you know I love doing this).  You simply adhere each layer, overlapping, using foam tape.  This seems so frilly!!  For the bottom, I’ve used one of the three borders from Graceful Sweet Words to add an arched scallop to the bottom.

About Day of Giving Friday
For new readers, every Friday it’s my pleasure to give away a card.   The card goes to a randomly picked reader (worldwide) who leaves a comment in our conversation. Want to know more about Day of Giving, here’s a link to my FAQ’s just check out #11.  You can check to see if your name is on the list of winners HERE!  For your comment:  I’m taking in a new city today – where did you grow up and why was it special?

WR-Supplies
Stamps:  Paper Source – Do Something Creative

I grew up in rome, ny. what was special about it was that it was a small town with big city activities. I grew up in the 60’s-70’s. we had supper sports for girl’s and boy’s. long before title 9. we could learn tennis, golf, archery, and swimming at no cost to us. we were encouraged to play outside.

    love today’s card.ReplyCancel

Welcome to sunny Arizona, Becca! Lol. Sorry it’s not so sunny for your visit. Normally this time of year is beautiful, but unfortunately this year we are having a rough winter.

I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. I think my era of childhood was special, not because of where I lived, but rather because of the time period. It seemed to be more peaceful & we certainly did not have to worry about playing in the streets or speaking to adults we did not know. We were taught to speak when spoken to, so we answered.

I adore the Phoenix area & would prefer to never have to move, but I love the city of Chicago for the culture, architecture, and the lake front. Beautiful!

Just like your stunning card design today. The softness is so soothing. I could sit & stare at it forever!ReplyCancel

I started growing up in a small rural area. No neighbors really. We were a small mom and pop gas station that sold different sundries. We did have a small store not too far from our house that I would now call a convenience store. We lived on US1. When I95 was built that basically killed the business. But before that we had good times. I played with my brothers and we always got along. You laid on the ground and watched the clouds and made shapes out of them. You watched airplanes when they flew over, you got to watch doodlebugs dig in the sand. When you went into town it was exciting. School was wonderful. Then when we moved to the suburbs everything changed. I learned things like cuss words and how bad and mean people could be. It was a culture shock. I wish all kids could grow up in small towns and be just kids and not have to worry about the internet and video games.ReplyCancel

  • MildredJanuary 20, 2017 - 11:47 am

Well, I didn’t grow up in a city. It was a rural area. Gravel roads, no sidewalks, septic systems, no street lights. And we walked a mile each way to school. And to church, to the movies and to each other’s houses. It was special because it was just so peaceful and quiet. And I got to have a big German shepherd. Good times. Another great card.ReplyCancel

WOUW Becca this is sooo gorgeous. I´m always sooo amazed by the beauty you manage to get out in every single card you ever make, and also this one here.
I grew up on a huge farm, where my dad was wmployed to help in the stables with the animals, and it was amazing, but ofcause very different from living in a city, but I absolutely loved it there, even I was the only girl among all the workers kids, all the rest was about 7 or 8 boys in different ages, so I had to learn things the hard way, if I wanted to be in, but I wouldn´t trade it for anything in the world, and it sure learned m,e to deal with most issuess through life, one can think of, which is pretty cool.ReplyCancel

I grew up in a very small town in New Zealand, and it was special because of the love within my family and the great friendships I had – it was the sort of town where most people knew everyone :-) couldn’t really get into mischief as it would soon get back to my parents ears!!

Another gorgeous card! Even though you have again used the “stacked borders” design on your card it looks different than the other “stacked borders” cards – love that!! Can’t wait to see the new products from CHA! Enjoy!! I was born in Washington, D.C and we moved to Southern California when I was 6. Torrance isn’t considered a small town but our neighborhood was very close-knit and it was a lovely place to grow up. It didn’t hurt that we were only 5 miles from the ocean and maybe 2 hours from the desert or the mountains and we could visit whenever we wanted.ReplyCancel

Another amazing card. And welcome to my home town. I am from Phoenix. Growing up, I loved Wallace and Ladmo. And Legend City. And, Monte’s La Casa Vieja. And, as more and more people move here, we have lost much of our culture to other people’s cultures.ReplyCancel

Bautiful card – as always!! I grew up in a small town in Iowa called Strawberry Point. Supposedly it was called that because the early pioneers found of a small hill where wild strawberries grew. Whatever – it was a great place and time to grow up. Everyone knew everyone – we were all in the same boat, only the banker and lawyer was “wealthy”. We lived less than a block from school and came home every day for lunch. After school, my sisters and I and five or six girlfriends would gather around the TV and watch American Bandstand. And we saw Elvis on TV!! Such memories.Mom was a stay at home Mom and took such good care of us. We had not one, but two huge gardens and Mom would can and pickle everything she could get her hands on. In the spring we went to the 100 acre woods and look for morel mushrooms (and spring flowers) and in the fall, it was walnuts, butternuts and hickory nuts. In the winter Dad would crack them out and we would pick them out for the cookies and candy Mom would make. I learned to count by playing cards with my folks and siblings (there were 9 of us kids – just the one boy). Church was a important in our lives and I enjoyed Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. When the church ladies put on their dinners, we girls were always called upon to help. There was the theatre to go to on weekends and after school was the Dairy Bar where you could buy a coke for 5c and put a few coins in the jutebox and listen to your favorite music! My husband and I always say were were born in the best of times and we were!! For which we both are very thankful. Good luck at CHA! I’m sure you will be a hit with your new dies!!ReplyCancel

What a lovely and appropriate card! Love the frilly look. I grew up in a small town in Ohio and what made it very special actually wasn’t the town at all, it was my grand mother who actually ived in the next town over. Visiting her and being with her was my favorite thing to do. I just loved her yard, full of flowers that she let me pick! A cherry tree that I ate all of the cherries I could off of and the rest my Grams made into sweet pies! A small cluster of apples trees in the back yard kept us supplied with Granny smiths and red apples. Being at Grams house was like my Heaven on Earth. I still dream about that place and have fond memories of it still. It was truly the love of my Grandma that made the place so special and I miss her still today! Now that I am the Grammie, I try to make my house and yard just as appealing to my grand daughters with Flower fairy gardens, strawberry and raspberries and all sorts of veggies to snack on, similar to how my Grams did for me. But most of all, I try to love them as much as I possibly can!

I love this card with the petticoat effect! It brought back memories of a party dress my mother made for me out of lace when I was about 6. She was a fine needlewoman and so my clothes were handmade and different!
I grew up in a town in the south east of England. We lived in a small cul-de-sac of 31 houses and we lived at one side of the banjo and my aunt and uncle lived at the other side, just 4 doors away. Our houses backed onto a large field where all the children from the road would play and where every November, we would build a huge bonfire and everyone would pool their fireworks to have a display. We would wrap potatoes in tin foil and bake them in the fire and heat tomato soup, sausages and baked beans round the edges which we would then eat in our wellies, coats, hats and scarves! So exciting! Most of our neighbours didn’t have cars and so we were able to roller skate quite safely around the pavements. Life was uncomplicated, gentle and good!
Thanks for the memory prompt, Becca! hope you are enjoying CHA.
    Hugs

My first home was in Van Nuys, CA. It was special because it was close to Disneyland, which opened the same year I was born. I actually have pictures of myself at the park when I was very young. At first glance I thought the pics were just a regular park. Looking closer I realized that they were taken at Disneyland! At that time, it looked nothing like what it looks like now!ReplyCancel

All our dads were police, Garda called here. We all live all over the world but lots of us are still friends. I spent the day yesterday with my girlfriend, we met 50 years ago when her Dad came to work with mine. Great times and the best of friends. Another gorgeous card Becca! I grew up in Brooklyn NY, one of the five boroughs in New York City. I took for granted that anything I wanted to do was available and my parents made sure my sister and I experienced most of it. We enjoyed the Broadway theater and the museums the art galleries and the ice skating rinks, the shopping and the parks. Another really beautiful card. Would love to be there with you at CHA. Got connections in Phoenix and it could be so much fun. Anyway, Martinsville Va was a fairly midsized town in its day with a booming economy. Nylon Capital, Textile Capital and Furniture manufacturing were all very productive business growing up. The stories you hear about living in “good ole days” were very true there. Now it is a very lazy town with not much going on. Folks there are trying to bring the arts to the area to make it a quaint small town. We’ll see.ReplyCancel

I am so in love with this card so much!!!! The sentiment has always been my mantra :)

Well, I grew up in Hutchinson, Kansas and well they are famous for the State Fair, The Annual RV Show, The Annual Home and Garden Expo. But the last time I was there they were suffering a major loss of residents due to the Brine well explosions and the Gas pockets up under the city due to the Cary Salt Mine . They closed the mine and turned it into a museum and restaurant last I heard. but hat would have been 13 years ago this February 14th when my now hubby flew me up to get me out of a very volatile family situation.

I was afraid I was going to miss this as I just got back into town after traveling three hours over the mountain to have a biopsy done. I will not find anything out until Tuesday at the earliest. Just praying it is not the Big BC…. So I would like to ask anyone who prays to think of me :).ReplyCancel

What a gorgeous card. . . Gosh I hope I win this one!!! You’ve out done yourself, I’m in love with this gorgeous card and sentiment!
I grew up in the SanFernando Valley, Sepulveda, CA, yes you can say I’m “a Valley girl” ha ha ha.
Why was it special, oh I have such fond memories of growing up, family time, a neighborhood where all our neighbors lived there for at least 35-40 yrs, so they are more like family than the neighbor next door, many, many a night of playing kick ball/softball/fressbie in the street with teams consisting of children and parents. Lots of times where families would gather at a house just to visit! Summers spent going to the ocean, Zumba beach, or play games, card games, Spoons or whatever we fancied at the time for a whole afternoon.
What a wonderful question, thank you for letting me return to my childhood and the wonderful memories.
Have a great time at CHA, visiting the new city and visiting with all who stop by to meet you!!!!ReplyCancel

This is such a pretty card Becca, and it is on my wish list to purchase. I grew up in Colorado and what a great time it was. When we finished chores we would head up to the mountains, which were only a few blocks away, and hike all afternoon. We would take a lunch, snack and some water. It was good to share the hike with a sister or friend. The best of hiking was lunch time as we sat on a big rock and watched all of God’s critters scurrying around and listen to the pines sing on a windy day. I wished those who were unable to experience this time will somehow hear and see it.ReplyCancel

This is a beautiful design, I truly adore it. We are all so glad you came into our lives with your designs.

I grew up on the California coast in Rolling Hills Riviera,(not as swanky as it sounds). We had so much freedom as children, we could play on the hills and slide down them in boxes, ride skateboards down the steep hills and skin every part of our bodies (including noses) and never lock our doors. It was safe and fun. Couldn’t go home again but sure had some great memories from grade school to high school graduation and my first year of college.ReplyCancel

Yours is a card that I must learn to make. It’s lovely. I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and grew up in a country sugar plantation camp. It was an idyllic wonderful place to grow up. We played kick ball and marbles in the ball field, hop scotch in the middle of the road, made sling shots out of guava branches and ate seasonal fruits from your yard, baked our own cookies and learned embroidery and sew our own clothes. The camp no longer exist but the memories are forever.ReplyCancel

Hello Becca – you are in my neck of the woods this weekend since I live southeast of Phoenix! I hope you enjoy your time here. I actually grew up in southern California and feel incredibly blessed to have grown up in a small town atmosphere outside the big city of Los Angeles. Our town was in the foothills above Los Angeles and was a wonderful place to grow up. A job transfer is the only reason I’m in Arizona but I do love it here too.

Every time I see a card or project you’ve created with your border dies, I get even happier that I purchased the entire collection. Today”s card is no exception because it is so lovely yet I can see it isn’t too difficult to recreate. I love the ruffled look! I wish you could know just a bit of the inspiration we feel when you share with your beautiful projects with us! Have a wonderful weekend!ReplyCancel

Hi Becca, it was SO good to see you on tv here in England, please can you come back again soon and stay longer! I grew up in Northampton here in England during the 50s. We were very poor and always had toast and dripping for tea on thursdays, the day before payday. They were wonderful, carefree days. We played ball games and skipped in the street and always felt safe. Good manners and a caring attitude were top of the way we were expected to behave. I loved it all, even having a heated brick, wrapped in old blanket to warm me at night in bed. Now I live in North Devon where it is a slower pace of life and I can spend sunny days looking out over the estuary from my terrace. Bliss! Love, love, love your designs xReplyCancel
