Because every once in a while you deserve to throw together a simple card!  It is indeed rare that I think of a card, sit down and make exactly from inspiration and it goes together as planned.  I’m thankful that from somewhere – ease and simplicity found it’s way into my process, sometimes that’s what creativity writes on your heart.  My desk didn’t even get messed.   This is simple, on a background I mounted two Spellbinders Swirl Bliss Pocket die cuts – one and the top and one at the bottom with the opening towards the center.  Inside I placed Spellbinders Oval Bliss with the sentiment stamped on Spellbinders Classic Oval LG.  C’mon, I just know you have a sentiment laying around that deserves to be highlighted and sent on to someone to tickle their heart.

This card is lovely and the sentiment is POWERFUL! I would encourage those who are discouraged to Let Go and Let God! Because this is easier said than done, I would keep those who are discouraged in my sincerest prayers.ReplyCancel

Beautiful card Becca and touching sentiment!!! Speaking from experience this past week and a half since my husband went to Heaven, give the person who is discouraged/hurting a great big HUG and tell that person they are loved by God and by you. It truly does make a difference!
    Paper Hugs,

What a lovely card and a beautiful sentiment too. I live by the words, ‘what will be, will be’. They have served me well in my trying times.
A gentle smile and reall hug serves well too.ReplyCancel

What a gorgeous cardb you have today! I have my eye on that very sentiment from Suzanne’s latest release–just love it!
Hmmm advice? Circumstances change and things won’t always be as they are, however, that depends on why they are discouraged. It may be that what they are facing will not get better and platitudes don’t help then. I think a reminder that they are not alone and that, to the best of my ability I will walk with them and pray with them is always a good starting place.ReplyCancel

  • Karen M. RothNovember 4, 2016 - 11:56 am

What a gorgeous card and the sentiment is EXACTLY what I needed to hear today! More than you would ever know.
    __
I have alot of bad health issues attacking me all at once that are trying my soul. The pain is out of this world. So to see this today is just the precious reminder I needed to see that Yes, God does still love me! A friend encouraged me yesterday as I wept before her and gave me the shove I needed to get out of my Pity Party …or at least I am trying to…not easy when negativity and trauma are all you have known your entire life (44 yrs.). But through it all God has been so good to me.

Have a wonderful time getting ready for the Holidays y’all! I know I will :) I am already itching to get my Christmas tree up. If you knew my past you would wonder why, but I tell you –it is about my Lord and His Gift to us rather than the tragic thing that happened to my family on Christmas Eve.ReplyCancel

    • Chelsea JohnsonNovember 4, 2016 - 1:36 pm

Karen, I just want to encourage you and celebrate you! I love that you are pulling yourself up out of negativity and trauma, and are conquering each day as it comes to you. Awesome! May God bless you!ReplyCancel

  • Maritza TeyesNovember 4, 2016 - 11:59 am

When I am discourage and no creativity flows…I sit at my desk and take out some paper I have loved, bling, riboon and some flowers. I sit and look them for a while, I even leave the room. Usually all the pretty things on my desk talk to me and something beautiful comes up.ReplyCancel

Wonderful card! I really love those Bliss dies! Yep, one look and my jaw dropped! Thank you for sharing!
As to encouragement advise, relax and start remembering all you are thankful for, all your blessing, everyone who loves you, all things positive…..then after your mindset has changed to a more positive place, think on what is discouraging you and see what you can do to change it and what is beyond your control. Ask your angels/universe/God to aid you in changing what you can and accepting what you can’t. Another good question is does it really matter? Prayer, inner contemplation as well as attitude and thought change makes a big difference.ReplyCancel

  • Wanda ThomasNovember 4, 2016 - 12:12 pm

So simple; so elegant. Beautiful sentiment as well. For someone that is discouraged I would say all you have to do is look around you and find someone with lots bigger problems making a go of it. Use them for some inspiration.ReplyCancel

Again you have given us another wonderful card. I think I would just hug the person and whisper God’s love to them. I would also let them know that I am a phone call away. Checking back with them a few days later may also help. taking them out for lunch or making a meal may also convey love and concern. Have a blessed weekendReplyCancel

Oh Becca! I wish my “simple” looked as stunningly beautiful as this. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 – “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”ReplyCancel

Becca, you knocked it out of the park yet again! Your talents are amazing! To someone who is discouraged I would say to remember Isaiah 40:31 –
But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. I sometimes have to grab this bible verse with both hands, but it has gotten me through many discouraging moments.ReplyCancel

Becca, You knocked another one out of the park! Your talents are amazing!! When I am discouraged I try to hold on to God’s promise from Isaiah 40:31 – But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. Some days I have to grab hold of this promise with both hands (LOL), but it has gotten me through many discouraging moments.ReplyCancel

And here I was, thinking I didn’t need that Swirl Bliss die. Now, after seeing this card, I HAVE to have it! What a great card – beautiful colors, beautiful layout. I just love it!! Thanks, Becca.
As for advice for someone who is discouraged, I would say trust in the Lord with all of your heart. He has you! He knows how it all works out, and it will be for His glory! Don’t lean on your own understanding of a thing. What we see is temporal and limited and distorted. The Lord has the best perspective on our lives and trusting in Him will bring true peace.ReplyCancel

  • Siovan EldridgeNovember 4, 2016 - 1:41 pm

    Hi Rebecca

Such a beautiful card, but the sentiment is really special. My daughter Claire’s baby and our 1st grandchild was born sleeping in March this year. The reason I tell you this is because where ever & when ever we go or her friends go away on holiday they write Evelyn’s name in the sand on their beach holiday’s or out of twigs or flowers on a forest walk and I thought that is exactly what we are all are trying to do, to let our baby fly the world with everyone who loved her as a bump and still love her as a beautiful angel baby. Could you please tell me anywhere I could purchase this stamp in the UKReplyCancel

    • Becca FeekenNovember 4, 2016 - 3:38 pm

      Hi Siovan:
I sent you an email early this morning. If you follow the link in my blog post with the name of the stamp – you will reach the Quietfire Design website. Once there, I’d encourage you to leave a message for Suzanne Cannon. She may have a distributor in the UK. It can be ordered and shipped to you from Canada if she has no distributor. Please let me know how I can help.ReplyCancel

  • Sandra SmithNovember 4, 2016 - 1:43 pm

Hello Becca! Your card today may have been simple but it looks elegant and very detailed. It is gorgeous and one b I am inspired to creatively borrow from you.

I’ve had to deal with a lot of difficult life events in the last 3 years. My Dad passed away, my husband”s best friend unexpectedly passed, two foot surgeries, a bad fall with multiple broken bones and a surgey resulting in lifestyle changes that now include daily use of a wheelchair and a very complicated open heart surgery for my hubby this summer. I share so I can also share that it is possible to overcome and you can get through the discouragement and sadness that comes when life brings lots of rain. I admit to being depressed and dicouraged at times, especially losing my Dad but I have tried to hold onto the spirit of gratitude and thankfulness. I am a child of God and I am blessed. By remembering my blessings the dark days don’t turn into weeks, months or years. It isn’t always easy but a thankful heart can’t dwell in sorrow. God bless those going through discouragement.ReplyCancel

    • Becca FeekenNovember 4, 2016 - 3:39 pm

What a WONDERFUL CREATION, Becca! I LOVE this sentiment, as it IS SO FITTING for our world today, & I LOVE the cool light blue you chose to do it in too. Light blue like this is SO COMFORTING I think! What would I do to encourage someone in times of discouragement? I would tell them to go to the one who has ALL of the answers, God! To spend time in prayer & read His Word! There is NOTHING BETTER than that! Just to SOAK IN ALL THEY CAN from HIM!!!ReplyCancel

  • Anne (UK)November 4, 2016 - 2:20 pm

Oh….oh…..oh…..! Simply breathtaking! The colour combination is superb. And that sentiment is just wonderful!
My mother used to say that it is easy to look around and find people who are much worse off than yourself – and she wasn’t talking about finances! We only need to glance at the news on the TV and see the horrors and injustices around the world. As a Christian, I remind myself that this life is not all there is. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.
    Hugs

Beautiful! My favorite color, soft blue, lovely filigree. and soothing sentiment. I would and have told discouraged friends that God is always in control, always wants the best for us, and that
while discouragement is natural, it isn’t meant to last. We have to lay our burdens at the feet of God and let them go, even for a while.ReplyCancel

Gosh, in regard to advice for the discouraged…look no further than your blogs. This is where I go for a spiritual lift – beautiful cards & sentiments, and connecting with like-minded generous women. It’s been so heart-warming to read the inspirational comments and seeing people reaching out to others in support. Encouraging others is always a healing antidote for discouragement.

I often tell my friends who are discouraged or depressed how I’ve benefitted by keeping a Journal of Positive Thoughts… making a point to write down things that I read and find especially uplifting. That way, when I’m down, I have a treasure trove of encouragement at my fingertips. I then give them a pretty journal and pen. But since I know from experience is hard to start a blank book… more so when you’re discouraged, so I copy a few pages from my journal that I think they will like to get them started. I have gotten much positive feedback from this.ReplyCancel

An elegant card with a beautiful message! Thank you for your idea using the / “your” pocket die. I wasn’t sure just how to use this die. Advice that I offer someone who is discouraged is advice I give myself: Turn the issue over to the Lord. HE knows what is happening and knows what to do. Take care of what you can and do not be troubled with what you can not change. I found it important to acknowledge what was troubling me and move on. If I do not acknowledge the issue running around and around in my mind, the issue just continues to be foremost in my thoughts.ReplyCancel

Oh Becca, this is one of my all=time favorites! The color the bow and the great part is I have all the dies to make this one. Your bows continue to intrigue me. I have been able to make some pretty good ones since I have YOUR bowmaker. Just have to keep practicing. And that would be my advice to just keep trying and keep your chin up. Sometimes life seems hopeless; just pray and things have a way of correcting themselves.
    Have a wonderful weekend.

Such a beautiful creation, Becca. My oldest daughter is 33-and now a widow with three children. Her husband committed suicide in August. Through that tragedy, pain, and discouragement, I continue to remind my daughter that God is still in control, and He is still on the throne of Heaven. I am glad to say that they are making progress through each day, still with a few bumps along the way.ReplyCancel

Hi there friends, where has the week gone?  Yes, it’s Friday again and somehow it sneaks up and surprises me every single week.  Today is Day of Giving Friday and this card is my giveaway for today.  Speaking of today, I’ll keep it short because I’m actually on a making spree, a craft marathon and know that when you’re on a roll, sometimes it’s best to keep rolling!
Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Standard Circles LG, Spellbinders Floral Embossing Folder, Spellbinders A2 Bracket Borders One - full supply list at www.amazingpapergrace.com
The inspiration for my card today is a circle.  This is my creed and I loved it enough that I included it in a stamp set I designed some years ago and dug through my stash to find it.  In helping others, we shall help ourselves.  Whatever good we give out completes the circle.  I cut the sentiment out with Spellbinders Standard Circles LG.  I embossed two panels Spellbinders Floral Embossing Folder and cut one edge of each panel with Spellbinders A2 Bracket Borders One.  Once again I printed digital paper (edited with Photoshop) onto vellum because I love the muted look.

Today is my birthday and I am at peace – remarkable, but knowing my beloved husband is with the Lord and someday I will join him brings me joy. We were married over 32 years when he died 2 nights ago, October 26th, after a long illness. Jim was a kind, compassionate, and generous man – was loved by all who knew him…your sentiment is sooooo true Becca. Thank you for sharing it.

What makes me Happy Today: That I have been able to Spend the entire day with My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in spite of all the pain I am in :). “Love Wins Every Time” even in the “Eye of the Storm”.

Becca, This card is so lovely and beautifully timed. Thank You so Much! I will admit it, I am having a pity party as I just found out that I have 2 Bulging Discs pushing on my Spinal Cord and Arthritic Bone Deformities moderately Blocking 2 nerve Roots. untreated Psoriatic Arthritis with Spondylitis is to blame all because the doctor who was seeing me refused to give me the antibiotic I have needed now for over two full years but I have forgiven her and even wrote her a letter blessing her new position she accepted. Now I am without a Doctor in the meantime and cannot see the new Rheumatologist until the first of the year. I am having to have more testing done on my left Breast. I cannot get into the Pain Management Specialist until December. I am trying to Prepare for the Fall Bazaar and I have not been able to even make anything due to the pain. I just found out that a new Friend is in treatment for Colon Cancer. I am so far in Debt that I cannot pay my bills and I cannot work but I am trying. I am brokenhearted because I have not heard from my only brother since Christmas 2015 and my Family has turned away from God.My Children want nothing to do with me due to the lies of others and misunderstandings and the poor choices of others. I have just applied for In-home care for myself. I am only 44. All I can say is without pride or gloating but with a true sadness,” Satan, I know your Future. God has a Good Plan for my Life.” Whether I live to see it come to fruition or not I know not , but I know it is Good and God is a “Good,Good Father” and I love Him. But–There is Great news– I Forgave my own earthly father after many many years of abuse. Sadly, he is in a nursing home thousands of miles away with Dementia and I did not find out until last year. I cannot even travel to see him due to my own Disabilities and Lack of Finances. What breaks my heart is that he has no visitors at all. I promised him I would call him again and have canvasses made of pictures my husband took of some of the places we have been to and live to replace the crappy view out of his only window of two slanted roofs with a miserable spindly tree in between them and the blank walls but I cannot afford it and I am so ashamed because it is all due to my Shopping Addiction trying to numb the pain in my life so I have not called him back. So please pray for me,too.ReplyCancel

Good afternoon Becca. I love the colors and sentiment on today’s card. The use of the circle for a focal point is fantastic. My sympathy goes out to Jan for the loss of her husband. I wish her comfort and memories to help her through her difficult time. I am happily working today on thank you cards for friends that so generously helped me celebrate my 70th birthday a month early during a weekend of three parties! Not only were the parties and getting together with friends fantastic, but crafting cards of thanks allows me to relive the experiences all over again. Again, something new I learned today from you. What made me happy today was the long walk I took with my grandchild. We are fortunate to have a pram that I love to push him in and so we took a very long time. He’s only three months old but loved looking at the change of colors in the leaves.ReplyCancel

    Dear, dear, Becca,
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful sentiment. It is so true. I had just read an email from a dear friend of mine reaching out to his faith and choral communities for prayer and support while he faces serious health concerns. I was reflecting on the truth that it is in blessing others that we are blessed. Your card punctuates that idea so beautifully. I just love this lovely flower emerging from that center and the ribbons look like they are radiating goodness out to the world. An Amazing Paper Grace, for sure!

I so love this sentiment. Wish it was available to purchase today. Lovely card. You go girl in your creating roll. Can hardly wait to see what you are creating! To your question: What is making me happy today? Since I am writing this in the evening and my happy came earlier today, I will say what made me happy was unexpected warm weather, Carolina Blue sky with a light wind. Due to this mild weather, sans ice or snow, allowed me to continue my outside work to prepare for the winter which work I put off to complete my Halloween cards! LOL! Happy weekend!ReplyCancel

It makes me happy to see all the kind and comforting comments from fellow Christians. Your card is beautiful Becca. I love the vintage look… and of course I admire your ability to make beautiful bows.

Jan, I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my mother last month so I know she and Jim are now walking the streets of gold. Your memories of the laughter and love you shared with Jim will always be remembered. When you lose someone very precious, no one else can really know all that you feel . . . but knowing his pain and suffering are gone and he is with the our Heavenly Father will give you comfort.
May God give you strength and fill you with the assurance of
His love in dealing with your loss.

Beautiful card! The sentiment touches me personally. Let’s see–what makes me happy? I woke up this morning, able to get out of bed, able to see and walk. My mind was/is working. Yes, I have health issues–not as bad as others and yet worse than others. One son has financial problems, and other son’s baby daughter had a medical emergency this past week. She is better now–Thank You Lord! All we have to do is just look around us and we can find someone worse off than we are. Me, I just happy to be alive!ReplyCancel

Hi Becca! Another beautiful card. Aren’t they all!!
I am blessed to be on holiday in beautiful Madeira with my husband. It is a beautiful morning – sunny, but not scorching hot and we are outside our room, in a beautiful verdant garden bordered by roses in bloom, bird of paradise flowers and palm trees, gazing out over the ocean. We are both sporting right foot injuries – a broken toe (me) and my husband a severe infection in his big toe after separate accidents. Neither of us can get shoes on our right foot and it is quite hilarious seeing the pair of us go down to dinner in a left shoe and a flip flop each – looking like members of some weird sect or secret society :o). It is a pity that we are unable to explore the island due to our enforced immobility, but we can bask in the beauty of God’s creative genius right outside our room!

I talked to a sweet friend yesterday and it was just a reminder that we all go through tough times.  I’m heartened by how easy it is to pick up the phone, to dash off an email and yes, to send a card.  I’m indulgently proud these days of living in the moment, because I’ve discovered that the essence of who we are is often captured in that moment.  In the past I didn’t always get it right.  These days, I’ve expanded my reality, my compassion and my empathy enough to know that when someone needs you, they need you right now – not when you get a break, not in between big jobs and not when you’re in the car and have nothing else to do.    All this to say, I think I’m living in a sweet place.  When my kids call, I stop what I’m doing to listen without distraction.  When dear friends call, busy work shuts down.  My mom has taken to talking on Skype and I video chat with her often. I am teaching her computer skills and computer confidence across the miles – and really, being impatient is not in the equation.  To sum it all up, I might not always have the most productive day, but I have a most productive heart :-)

My card today reflects my heart.  I took my time to craft this for a friend that I sincerely want to know that better days are ahead.  I pulled bits and pieces of my very favorite things, the crafting tidbits I lean on and she will know it when she opens the envelope.  You have these things too – the things that feel right when you hold them in your hands and lay them out.  My style has evolved to many flavors of romantic and beside the words of hope I’ll write inside, I pray it says, I care.

Because you always ask . . .  The card base is make using a script printed paper from Carta Bella from their Amour Paper Pack.  I printed vellum using a digital paper from a sweet friend with an Etsy Shop – Iralamija, and trimmed with a scallop edged border die.  To compliment, on top I added Spellbinders Fleur de Elegance and topped with Spellbinders Classic Ovals LG.  Behind the vellum to give me base to glue and add foam dots behind, I used Spellbinders Pierced Rectangles.  To finish off, I used Spellbinders Mary Border down the left side for a feminine touch.

I often come here with a purpose and silly me, don’t think anyone wants to know any of the background.  Thank you for letting me be me, and thank you for letting me tell you what was on my heart today.

You are absolutely right about being in the moment with those you love. We never know when we won’t ever see them again. Just returned from a three week trip to see family and friends in Texas. That also included an unexpected funeral of my husband’s brother. Much too young he was. As soon as time allows I will send his wife a proper card. Just as you have done.

Your post is moving today and true. A friend last her husband a month or so ago. She lives at the other end of the country so I’m not able to visit but I drop her a lin or a card whenever she is on my mind and she so appreciates it. Prayer is so important and as Denice said – make it the first resort not the last resort! Hugs Christine xxReplyCancel

It´s because you are who you are, that we all love you and your work soooo much Becca. I´ve often found a lot of comfort in your entries, if I´ve felt down because of a crazy health, that don´t always follow the way, I wish it would, and it´s always a joy and bring peace to come here and see your lovely and amazing work and hear all you have to say. It makes me know, that even I feel down, and bad, there´s always some out there who´s doing far worser than me, and knowing what you´ve been through in life, have helped me get past my own challenges more than once, so please never stop being you, cause we love you just the way you are, and todays card is just as amazing as always, and I´m sure, your friend is just going to love it, and it´ll definitely put a little smile on her face too.ReplyCancel

Another beautiful card wrapped around another beautiful sentiment! When I have a need, and someone says “I’m praying for you” – they are the most endearing words to my heart. My grand daughters beau was tragically killed yesterday in an accident at dawn while traveling to work – she is devastated! How does one know what to say at times like these? “I’m praying for you” says it all! Thank you for the reminder.

Becca, your words really brought a tear to my eye today. Tears of joy, that is. It just sounds like a wonderful place to be when you live in the moment, follow the Spirit’s guidance and react to what is immediately that the Lord places before you. What a blessing you are!!!!!
Your card is gorgeous and once again, I love your creativity in using the dies and papers to meet your design specifications. Brilliant.ReplyCancel

    Becca,
Both your card and your words are lovely. The wisdom of living in the moment reminds me so much of my sweet grandmother who always had time to talk and to play. She told me when my son -now twenty- was a baby that I should enjoy every moment because he would be little only for a little while. She was right and I was blessed by her wisdom.ReplyCancel
