Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design , Spellbinders Fairmont Decorative Accents, Spellbinders Cinch and Go Flowers - full supply list at www.amazingpapergrace.com
Good morning sweet friends!  What a week for me – if you follow my Instagram Feed you can tell that I haven’t been tucked away in my cozy little home this past week;  I was on an adventure in New York City!  I’ve been to New York, but I’d be embarrassed to tell you how long ago.  This was a trip that fell into place and almost made it easier for me to get here than to stay at home – – it was meant to be.  My sweet little sister made it so enticing that there was no possible way to say no.  So I have had a week of sisterly love, great conversation and the clarity.

I had the opportunity to meet some wonderful people and make some memorable stops, checking two things off of my bucket list.  Last night we went to Ground Zero.  I can’t even explain what it feels like to walk on that hallowed ground.   It simply stole my breath and made me speechless with a feeling of both awe, grief and a realization of what happened on that very spot.  I was going to post a different card today but it just so happened that I brought some pre-stamped sentiments with me.  Sometimes I Just Look Up floated to the top – a meant to be thing – that speaks to the feeling that washed over us as we surveyed the names and looked into the fountain.

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design , Spellbinders Fairmont Decorative Accents, Spellbinders Cinch and Go Flowers - full supply list at www.amazingpapergrace.com
My friend Suzanne Cannon with Quietfire Design, sent me this stamp a couple of weeks ago and I’ll say it’s speaks a thousand words.  I worked on it this morning with a simple card base using Spellbinders Fairmont Decorative Accents and flowers from Spellbinders Cinch and Go Flowers.  It’s a tad subdued from my normal layers and embellishments, but lets just say I was inspired by my experience last night and the sentiment and supplies I had with me.  I feel blessed today as I travel home and know that everything we come across, that we see, that we experience, that impacts us, is put in our paths for a reason.

I say this often as there is always a surprise from God for me when I take the time to see it. Whether it’s a gorgeous sunset, listening to my grandchildren talk about their day, celebrating 44 years of marriage with my husband whom I’ve known since kindergarten, and so many other blessings! God has provided all. I also have Ground Zero on my bucket list; thank you for sharing your experience and gorgeous card – very inspiring!ReplyCancel

What a beautiful card. You inspire me with your amazing creations. I’ve had a very unhealthy summer with several runs to the ER and a few admissions. Therefore, I feel so blessed today for my journey back to recovery. People who saw me undergo what I went through cannot believe how fast I’ve gotten better, including my doctor who thought at one point I “was not going to make it”. Blessed by God’s grace and so very thankful for another day.ReplyCancel

    Becca,
What a beautiful card and sentiment. NYC is also on my bucket list. Being from the west, I don’t know if I will ever get there, but I will be waiting for my chance as well. I am blessed today with being back home where I grew up, to have family and life-long friends close by to visit and be a part of their daily lives again. I am blessed that my wonderful husband of almost 40 years has brought me back to where I belong. God BlessReplyCancel

Sold our house within one week, found a beautiful townhome on a single level, husband diagnosed with prostate cancer, but doing well, friends that I deeply cherish, a warm, welcoming church that recently burned down but we are now rebuilding, a comfort care home for the dying that I volunteer at. Hi Becca

I would love to get hold of this stamp. My granddaughter became an angel baby in March 2016, born sleeping. I have always called her my shining star and would love to know how to get hold of this stamp in the UK. I look in now and again at the moment but this stamp really touched my heart. I hope you can help.

    Hi, Becca,
What a great adventure! A few years ago I was blessed to rendezvous with my twin sister in NYC. We spent a week together and that time is such a treasure-I’ll hold it in my heart forever.
My blessing today is a feeling of peace. A week ago I attended a weekend retreat and I there I let go of negative “stuff” keeping me in turmoil. I think I could sit and watch grass grow today and be happy as a clam. Oh, what a blessing! (Yeah, that and looking at your inspired card!!!)

Hello Becca! It sounds like you had a very special trip to NYC. I’d love to go b to Ground Zero to pay my respects some day. Your card today has an elegant look and is beautiful. I love that you didn’t use a lot of color. It works so well with your sentiment.

I am feeling very blessed. I just returned home from spending 7 weeks with my Momma and Auntie plus my two brothers and even got to spend some time with my wonderful sister and her husband. While saying goodbye to my time with family and friends, I missed my hubby, son and family to I so I feel doubly blessed to be home too. My trip was so special, with two getaways with my Momma, including one with my Auntie too plus a birthday bash for both of them. Oh Becca – so glad that you were able to go to NY and spend time with your sister. Do hope your foot behaved and that you managed to get around without problems. We visited NY 6 months after the tragedy and I can still remember that terrible day when the news was reaching us in the UK. Just devastating. My sister-in-law’s cousin was on her way there for a meeting that day! An hour later and she would have been in one of the buildings.
Be still my beating heart!! I adore your card, Becca! And that sentiment! Just WOW!
We are blessed to be on holiday in Madeira and this morning, I woke from a nap, opening my eyes to gaze at the most wonderful azure sky, clear but for one or two candy floss clouds. It was breathtaking. It is not often that I have either time or opportunity to be on my back gazing up at such a wonder of creation and just murmurred my thanks for this beautiful world. When I just opened your site and spotted your card and that sentiment, I smiled at how apt it was for me today. My blessings are manifold and I am eternally grateful.

I decided to frame my card on two blue panels cut with Spellbinders A2 Curved Borders Two – the two panels meet in the middle vertically.  On top of the panel I added Spellbinders Heirloom Oval on top being sure to cut out the center to form the cream frame.  I cut the inside of  the Heirloom Oval again from blue so that I had cover for my ribbon that spans the card and to have a nice place to stamp a sentiment.  Lastly I decorated with a couple of my favorite Spellbinders Cinch and Go Flowers.

Today’s card is a beautiful testament to beauty, thought and love. It is definitely a card that anyone would love to receive. My last moment ‘full of you’ was this past Wednesday when I went to visit my best friend who no longer recognizes me or is much aware of what exists in this world. Wednesday was her birthday and though I am aware of her condition (major stroke victim) I still wanted and needed to spend some time with her just holding her hands, talking to her and remembering why she remains my best friend. She gave me the best friendship as a gift to take with me until my last days. I thank the Lord for filling my heart and soul with memories of days past.ReplyCancel

    • Joni StonekingOctober 14, 2016 - 1:10 pm

Bless your heart, Marilyn. I truly believe that there is something in her that knew your love was and is present for her…that love never goes out without consequence. That time was a gift to her whether you could tell or not…and I’m so glad it was a gift to you as well. There are many who, for grief or anger, or whatever, cannot do what you did. Blessings. Joni.ReplyCancel

Beautiful card Becca! The The curved borders two and cinch and go flowers are two of my favorite dies. My moment full of you was yesterday. My sister and I went out to lunch for my birthday. This is what the card said that she gave me. “Sisters belong to each other. Our hearts keep us close, no matter what. We’re so lucky that way. Happy Birthday to my sister.” That makes me feel so loved and Blessed! I am very blessed to have her near, she is a two time cancer survivor.ReplyCancel

I met my best friend on our first day of 8th grade. We were in each other’s weddings and were Godmothers for each other’s children. She knew more about me, than anyone. She was there for me when my first husband committed suicide and my one year old daughter had open heart surgery. I lost her 3 years ago. She went into the hospital for a simple surgery on Monday, I sent her flowers on Tuesday and her husband called me early Wednesday, saying we had lost her. A light in my world went out that day. But a miraculous thing happened at her funeral. As we were singing, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” on a cloudy day, a ray of sunshine broke through and shone brightly on the hymnal my husband and I were sharing. We gasped and looked at each other! My eyes welled with tears, as they had so many times in those few days before, but this time they were different, as I knew she was still with me! The heavens share moments with me often. In a beautiful sunset or a lovely rainbow, I am reminded, she is with me.ReplyCancel

  • Chelsea JohnsonOctober 14, 2016 - 2:14 pm

What a lovely card, Becca. The blue and cream are gorgeous together.
The sentiment is unusual, too. When I first read it, I thought of how we often think of dear loved ones who have passed away.
But in your last paragraph you challenge us to apply the idea to ourselves and I find this much more difficult. I don’t have many “moments full of me”.
But I did remember a wonderful thing that happened to me on Mother’s Day a few months ago. You see, I’ve never had children so Mother’s Day is always about someone other than myself. But this last Mother’s Day a young man who has become close to our family chose to celebrate me as a mother figure in his life. He gave me flowers and a gift and a card. I’d never had such a moment before!! I think that definitely qualifies as a moment full of me!!! It was wonderful and I’ll always remember it.ReplyCancel

BEAUTIFUL card Becca!!!! You always warm my heart with your cards!
Have to say yesterday was an example,of ‘full of me day’….learned at 11am, we needed to get a king size bed moved out of our bedroom so a hospital bed could be moved in. Unfortunately the people who bring in and set up the hospital bed do NOT take out any existing furniture. The bed could not be ordered until the king bed was out of the room. I had a call two days ago from neighbors who had heard about Jim and actually go to my church (big church 3 services) offering any help I might need. As the only person I knew in my neighborhood not working was away from his phone, I called them. The couple came down in a 1/2 hour…as well as the neighbor I had left the message with, and we managed to get the king bed into the garage – definitely an immediate answer to a desperate prayer on my part. Hospital bed delivered and set up at 5 pm same day! Sooooo GRATEFUL!

Hi friends, I guess you could say better late than never.  My life is currently being ruled by whether I have internet or not; today was not.  I’m learning my lesson, I had everything ready to go but never schedule posts and it certainly caught up with me today.   No worries, I know you all cruise by when you have a second and I thank you.  Today is Day of Giving Friday and I have a new card to share.  Recently I’ve leaned more to the shabby side and it’s relatively easy to do with inspiration.  I had this lovely piece of vintage looking lace that I simply wanted to build a card around and I love the texture of burlap :-)

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Sentiments 5, Spellbinders Astoria Decorative Elements, Spellbinders Renaissance Tags One - full supply list at www.amazingpapergrace.com
Because there is so much detail in the background, I kept die cuts to a minimum, using simply enough to get a message across.  One of my favorite thing to do is to cut my dies and use the edges as embellishment.  I used one of the tags from Spellbinders Renaissance Tags One to add some interest behind the flowers and I cut up edges from  Spellbinders Astoria Decorative Elements to decorate my hand cut pennant and finished up with the hello from Spellbinders Sentiments 5

What a pretty “shabby” card! As always, you inspire me with your creative use of the dies tucked in and about. It just adds so much visual interest.
As for an object that provides inspiration, well I won’t say my computer, even though it is the things on the computer (specifically YOUR BLOG) that inspire me! I am struggling to answer this, actually. I think things I see inspire me. The colors in a leaf. The shape of a die. The way ink streaks across the paper. That sort of thing – not actual objects, I guess.ReplyCancel

I’m always instantly drawn to any card that has pink on it and this card is no different but the texture really holds the eye. It’s a lovely card. I industry a lot of inspiration in color. It might be color in a piece of decor, wallpaper, clothing or even pattern paper. Using color as my basis, I look for die cuts, ribbon and flowers to build my card. Have a wonderful weekend Becca!ReplyCancel

  • Sandy ArtmanOctober 7, 2016 - 7:22 pm

Bless you, Becca, for persevering! I especially love the muted colors in this card – just beautiful. I’m relieved to know that you weren’t forced to evacuate. I’m sure some of your readers were and my prayers go out to all those suffering due to Hurricane Matthew.

I look to nature for inspiration for my cards and the fall season is one of my favorites. I don’t wear warm fall colors well but I can certainly dress up my cards with them!

    Love & blessings, SandyReplyCancel

First off, Happy Belated Birthday :)

Oh my ! This card is so dreamy . I love it. I love lace and I love bows like you make that I still have not yet mastered.

What do I look for in the way of inspiration, I tend to stick with romantic Victorian themes with Christian Values. But I like to also use Nature as in Mountains and water in my cards, too.

I just purchased my first dies and embossing folders for my new Platinum 6. I cannot wait until after all my Specialist appointments and tests to have the chance to play with them! I bought Spellbinders Vines of Passion and Taylored Expressions At the Cross 3 Item # TE529. Spellbinders Embossing Folders M-Possibilities Flora EL-009, Four Embossing Folders from Darice-Bird Scroll Frame, Peacock (for our Vow Renewal),Fall Leaves Swirl and Snowflake Swirl. Then I also bought a Stencil to play in my Prayer Journal with -It is by TheCrafteersWorkshop.com Designs by Jaime Echt called Mini Birds of a Feather. It reminded me of the verse that tells me how much more God cares for me than many Sparrows and the book I read called “Uncaged”.

I would like to ask for prayers of Safety and Protection for My Family members in Florida and the Carolinas.ReplyCancel

Hello Becca. This card is quite beautiful and I love the vintage shabby chic look of it. As to what objects do I look to for inspiration in my paper crafting, I have several containers surrounding me with all kinds of embellishments. Sometimes the shape will catch my fancy, or the color will strike a chord in my muse and I will reach for it. And thus, the card design begins. At other times, I have a particular die I wish to use to structure a card and I build a card to see how to get the best out of the die.ReplyCancel

Becca, Hope you are staying safe and not in harms way. I have been watching the news here on the west coast, and the hurricane looks to be reeking havoc for so much of Florida and along the eastern seaboard. Hoping you are not caught up in that.
Your card is certainly a beauty. I just love the gorgeous lace. It adds so much charm and warmth to this card along with the burlap. Stunning.

Oh my Becca once again you´ve done such an outstanding job on this fabulous card,. I LOVE Shabby Chic and this is everything one can dream of in that.
I really think, I get my inspiration anywhere I go. It can be a certain thing, a color, an image or just something someone say or I see, that can suddenly put my mind to work and make me see an idea for me, so I really never know, until it´s suddenly bursting in my head of ideas.ReplyCancel

  • Iris HarborneOctober 8, 2016 - 3:28 am

WOoow! This is one truly fab card, so detailed and interesting with all the various elements. I usually glean inspiration by thinking of the person in making a card for. What they enjoy doing, hobbies, commitments to a church or group/charity. I made an 80th card for my friends parents included gardening and cars for dad and embroidery and other crafts for mum. It has a Bible on the inside to bring them together through their faith in Christ which related to how they met. They loved it and kept it on display for many months.ReplyCancel
