Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design - Always Be My Friend Set, Spellbinders Shells Duality, Spellbinders Acanthus Leaf Tags - full supply list at www.amazingpapergrace.com
Good Morning, I have one more stacked border card to share today.  This week I’ve enjoyed sharing several stacked border samples – today is the last day and if you page down through blog posts you will see two more ideas for stacking.  I have to say there’s a ‘right feel’ for going vertically or horizontally with borders – often the design of the die dictates but I love to be surprised.  Today’s card has a full background but it is a landscape oriented card.  I’m using one of my favorites – Spellbinders Shells Duality and it is very easy to link the borders.  I’m also using a ridiculously optimistic sentiment from my friend Suzanne at Quietfire Design from the Always Be My Friend Set – I smile every time I stamp it!

In order to link the borders simply stack two on top of each other with the pointed leaf facing to the left.  Push down on both stacked leaves all the way across the border and pull the top layer to the left – it will interlock the leaves and you continue in the same manner.  To finish I added a sentiment in the window frame made with Spellbinders Acanthus Leaf Tags – large enough for a sentiment but small enough not to cover the lovely detail of the stacked borders!!

You are so right Becca. Using the stacked border dies to create backgrounds adds so much more depth then just a regular background die. Really beautiful. And of course I have to ask: In the display picture above, you have this gorgeous die cut in the background that the card is laying on. Where did that come from? It looks like a cut and emboss background die was used, am I right and which one? Please spill. LOL You know if anyone was going to ask it would be me.

Hey ladies, that is actually a tray that I purchased at Hobby Lobby and spray painted it cream (it was originally teal). I guess it is die cut metal? At any rate it is a serving tray that is about 11″ wide and about 18″ long. :-)ReplyCancel

        Thanks Becca,

It sure looks like an embossed die cut. Beautiful. You could of fooled me, that’s for sure. I feel better now. Thought I had missed a spectacular background die. How’s your foot doing Becca?
Know you were suppose to see the doctor soon if not already. Hope all is well.
Think I might have to take a run to Hobby Lobby and check out that tray if our store even caries it.

Baby Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Radiant Rectangles, Spellbinders Renaissance Border Two, Spellbinders Renaissance Tags One - Full supply list at www.amazingpapergrace.com
Hi there friends, I’m back today with another Stacked Border.  If you looked at my post yesterday, I mentioned that one of my favorite easy cards is using a border and moreover stacking the pattern to get a 3/4 border or a full background.  While my background yesterday was 3/4, I wanted to show you how easy it is to get a full background – from one die.  Today the grace of Spellbinders Renaissance Border Two gave me yet another reason to stack an exquisite border.

Renaissance Border Diagram

I simply merged the borders vertically, interlocking points in order to create the background.  I glued each point with a small dot of Ranger Glossy Accents, its quick and easy and does not leave a mess.  After glueing, I decided to highlight each intersection with a pearl just to give the pattern some punch.  The beauty of this design was when oriented vertically I could continue to add on sections that I imagine I could do the same with a scrapbook page if I wanted to!

I sure didn’t want to cover up the detail of the background, so I chose a small vertical die to highlight my sentiment.  I used Spellbinders Radiant Rectangles and on top of it layered the oval tag from Spellbinders Renaissance Tags One so as not to compete too much with the background.  Now, not all borders will work but you will know which ones will work after you play around with them.  What a lovely way to get another use!  I hope you’ll play!

Hi there friends!  I carved out time to make a simple card, yes simple!  It features something I love to do – Stacking Borders.  Thanks to this delicious die cut, Spellbinders Arched Diamond, it’s easy to take the beauty of one border and stack it to make a 3/4 or full background.  On my card  I went with 3/4 but can’t you just imagine this as a full background?

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Arched Diamond, Spellbinders Cascading Grace Pocket, Spellbinders 5 x 7 Elegant Labels Four - Full Supply List at www.amazingpapergrace.com
Dig around in your border pile, some symmetry would be helpful so that as you stack you can find a common point or mark to use as the place of overlap.  On the Arched Diamond I lay down one border then glue another border on top matching the upper diamond on my bottom border to the lower diamond on the next layered border.  The symmetry makes it a great match with overlapping.

How to match up Spellbinders Arched Diamond Border

I finished up by creating a tiara on top using Spellbinders Cascading Grace Pocket.  It was easy to add a quick sentiment using Spellbinders 5 x 7 Elegant Labels Four.  The bordered look on the sentiment label is created using the Minc Bordered Die Cuts technique  – I’ve linked up the video for you.  Hope this inspires!

    Hi Becca,

Wow, sure is an impressive card and looks so new and fresh. Can’t decide if it is the color combination or this particular die. Just lovely and you know just where to place the ribbon and bow. A wonder that you can focus on making such pretties when you are recovering from foot surgery and weather damage. You are a blessing. Thank you. BarbaraReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
You clever girl, you! I absolutely love looking at everything you do. This is such a clever idea. You know, we purchase dies, of which I have many, but run out of ideas on how to use them in clever ways. No more! Your instructions are perfect. I have been on the fence with the arched diamond, but tomorrow I’m ordering it. I just purchased the Stacey Caron’s Tuscany strip and see if it will work. Just love the stacking idea! Thank you for sharing. You are so generous. How’s the foot? Hugs, SaraReplyCancel

And guess what, Becca. I was in the new Hobby Lobby in Smokey Point, Washington, and there was one of your Amazing Paper Grace dies for sale. You are nationwide!!!! (I would have bought it, but I already own it!)ReplyCancel

Love the all white with just the little touch of silver and the beautiful flowers. I’m going to assume the flowers are the Cinch and Go and that you’ve rolled the edges. I never considered layering borders! I learn so much on your site about revisiting different ways to use something.ReplyCancel

What an amazing card design and lovely sentiment. Although this border die is perfect for this technique, I will definitely have to go through the rest of my dies and see what others will work as well. Thanks Becca. Hope all is well and your foot is mending nicely. It is no fun to be partially out of commission. Are you making headway on your home repairs? I sure hope so. Sometimes the insurance companies can take their sweet time in completing claims.
