I’m finally back home – I’ve been here for two days and what they say is so true, there’s no place like home.  All is good, my mom had a trip scheduled and I didn’t want to interrupt her plans so she has left on another adventure.  I guess you can say I’m on another adventure too!  Hopefully in a week I’ll be able to stand on two feet :-)   Today is Day of Giving Friday – an opportunity for me to pass on one of my cards to one of my lovely readers – I realized that Day of Giving Friday has been going for a year and I’m tickled to keep it going.  Leave a comment on this post if you’d like an opportunity to receive a card and I’ll send it anywhere world.  I have cards that are waiting to be sent and will be on the way on August 26 if the doctor says I can walk and drive.

So, to take a little walk down memory lane.  I have bins of cards stored up.  Over 9 years of making samples, sending out cards and giving loads of cards away, there are still so many left over.  I don’t know what makes me pick a particular card for  a particular person or even why I select the ones I do for Day of Giving Friday, but when I picked this one today, I knew why.  Faith is a beautiful thing and I don’t think you can deny faith, it keeps popping up over and over again like an inviting door.  One of my favorite sayings since I was in my 20’s is that ‘one often finds his destiny in the road he takes to avoid it’. I’m gently reminded today, that Faith is taking the first step even when you can’t see the path.  Yes, I am gently reminded today…..

My earnest hope is that you trust your faith and step out with bravery and strength; and that by doing so, you are blessed.

About Day of Giving Friday
For new readers, every Friday it’s my pleasure to give away a card.   The card goes to a randomly picked reader (worldwide) who leaves a comment in our conversation.  One comment is randomly picked and the winners name is posted HERE.  If you win, simply send me your address through my comment form and I’ll send the card to you.  Want to know more about Day of Giving, here’s a link to my FAQ’s just check out #11.   For your comment, what wisdom do you have about taking an unseen path?

    Hello Becca,

I stumbled on your website a few days ago as I was looking for a die to make a gatefold card, and oh my word, I Fell in Love. Your projects are absolutely amazing. I love the colour palette that you use and the embellishments you add to your cards are truly stunning. I am primarily a stamper, and I only owned a few basic shapes/nestabilities up until today, but you are truly an inspiration and I am now looking at alll your cards, imagining what stamps I own that could go with the dies you are using and which Would be “essential” for me to get to make cards as stunning as yours. Thank you for the inspiration. Have a blessed day. LaetitiaReplyCancel

Such an awesome and gorgeous card here from you again Becca. I love the colorscheme you´ve used for it, and also the sentiment. I´ve always believed in, that there´s a lot more between earth and heaven, than anyone can possibly explain, and it takes a lot of faith to just walk the way I believe is the right one.
I sent you a private mail a while ago Becca, but guess you haven´t seen it, with all that´s been going on in your life here lately. I really hope, that everything will soon go back to normal days for you and you´ll get your good health back to normal again, so you can move around as you´re used to.

If I feel it is the right thing to do, no uneasy questions, I will follow a new path. I feel that God is by my side and will help me through. If He doesn’t want me to follow a particular path, He, through my gut instinct will let me know.

I don’t know that it is wisdom. Sometimes it seems the wrong path and yet all turns out strangely well. Sometimes it seems right and yet ends up not so much, but then finds a new door. I believe it all finds itself under the “God works in mysterious ways” clause, and that is what I end up trusting more and more as I get older. It is that which makes it easier for me to take a step into the unknown, rather than wondering is it right, is it not. No matter what, God will work it out with me…that I can live with.ReplyCancel

Such a gorgeous card Becca! As always, your bow is spectacular!!
    So glad you are healing.

A few years ago, I made the decision to move from California to Indiana and be closer to my sons. My 90-year-old mother lived with me, so she moved along with me. We had both lived all our lives in CA, almost all our family was still there and in my golden years, I put my faith in God that he would guide us in this move. BTW, we have 7 generations of our family born in CA, so it was not an easy decision.

I’m happy to say it was the best move of my life. We’ve both been very happy here and love the slower pace of life, as well as a less expensive cost of living!ReplyCancel

I love your quote about finding destiny when we are trying to avoid it. It reminds me of Jonah trying to escape God’s plan for him! When my husband lost his right eye in an industrial accident I knew I had to do something. I was unprepared to support the family if it was needed. I prayed “God show me the way” I even left a pen and pencil on my desk. God reminded me of my childhood dream of being a nurse. So I started classes even though my asthma was getting worse and worse my grades were 4.0. What message was He sending? But the desire to become a nurse grew and grew and I continued. I graduated and worked 32 years in a field that was challenging but one I loved. . Follow your hear it is God speaking to you.ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
I love the saying on this card.
We had been on the board at our church for many years
& we also had a ministry for the people of or church.
God told us it was time to give it up & of right away
we start to doubt we hear from God. Then it all became terrible
like drugging through mud. Then we know it was time.
Now we wait in faith for what our next step is.
    You do beautiful work.Thank you.ReplyCancel

  • BonnieAugust 19, 2016 - 3:38 pm

Our biggest steps of faith have always been unforeseen and unplanned. One of the most dramatic ones have been a counseling ministry at our church. As we open God’s Word to bring peace to others lives we often discover He is also counseling us. A double blessing for sure.ReplyCancel

Well, let me tell you where the unseen path has taken me. I came out to AR in February when I was 17 to help with driving for a family member. I met a young man, we got engaged in 3 days. I went home to CA. He came out in June after I graduated, we got married. Last month we have been married 40 years! Praise the Lord! I know it was the Lord that brought me to this place. There is no telling where I would be if I was still in CA. The only wisdom I have I have received from the LORD. Just ask Him for it, He will give it to you!

Becca, I am happy to hear you are getting back on your feet. Pun intended! Such a lovely card, the colors are so soft, and always the bow is just the right touch! Blessings, LisaReplyCancel

So glad to hear you are on the mend and are home safe and sound!

Your eye for elegance never ceases to amaze me. I really love this card. I was going to rattle off all the things I love about it but, actually, I love everything!

Your invitation to comment never fails to get me thinking deeply. Truth is, we’re all walking an unseen path, even though we may think we have it all mapped out. In reading others comments, this is a community of like-minded thinkers. The wisdom of walking this path is our trust in God-the Lord truly is our shepherd. Of course common sense has to play a part in these types of decisions as well.

So glad you are able to be home after your lightening strike and damage of your electronics. You know you are very lucky your home is still standing with such a tragic event. Now, how exciting for you to be almost on two feet again. Yea! Please take is easy with those steps and “watch your path”. Please thank your Mom for being such a good nurse and “go fetcher”. I am sure you are missing her already. Now to your question, my wisdom about taking an unseen path: get the idea in your head, BUT don’t over think it. Just ask God for strength and courage and GO FOR IT. I do find I have to re-assure myself that I can do something that I find a challenge to do. I have to “gather” up courage! Wishing you a wonderful weekend.ReplyCancel

Each day is a blessing from God and I try to appreciate the myriad of little gifts I am given. Your blog is one source of inspiration each day I read it, and for that I say thanks. When in doubt, I remind myself that God is in control, not me, not the politicians, not the military, etc. God! So, I step back and try to follow where he leads me. So glad to hear your foot is healing and you will soon be able to walk and drive. Please, please continue your Day of Giving. I’m still hoping and praying for a card that you have made. They are all so awesomely gorgeous!! By the way, do you still have the card kits with the dies you created? I subscribed some time ago and made a number of cards using them then I had to quit due to finances.ReplyCancel

Friends, I’m so sorry that I missed Day of Giving Friday last week — the will was there but the way was missing.  As I was writing my post last Friday, my house was stuck by lightning – a first for me, but something I’ll never forget.  I didn’t realize it at first but there was so much damage; the first clue was when the power company with a bucket truck showed up at my door and I had not called them.  They said they that lightning had fried my electricity meter and they were there to put on a new one.   It dawned on me how lucky we were to be alive; that neither of us had been on the phone or that we hadn’t been outside during the lull in the rain!  The lightning fried all my televisions, all the internet equipment and killed the air conditioning/heat system.  I’m juggling vendors to make repairs in between calls to the insurance company. Mom and I gave up trying to brave the Florida heat inside and through pure kindness, found haven at a little hotel where they found a way to squeeze us in and even gave me a first floor room since I’m on crutches.  I’m lucky….things will get back to normal but I’m reminded how horrible it must be for people who are displaced by weather or circumstances.  I’m sitting cozy this morning, blessed to be able to write my post in a cool room, and it looks like after a week of flooding (like I’ve never seen) today we might see the sun!

I have not been able to craft in the last week but pulled one of my favorite cards from the stash.  Today I’ll skip the how to’s but as always with Day of Giving Friday I want to send this out to one of you.   I love sharing my cards and hope if it comes to your door you’ll flip it over, turn it upside down, scrutinize ever detail and realize that yes, you can make this too!

I believe that everything happens for a reason and while on the surface some things may not ‘appear’ to be good……..deep down, there’s always a blessing in disguise.  For me, the break neck speed of living, noise, deadlines and so many ‘have-to-do’s’ sometimes keep me from sorting out the black and white that’s often standing right in front of me.  This week removal of the internet, news and ‘the ability to be busy with busy work’ brought an unexpected peace and clarity – it was my blessing in disguise.  How about you?  For your comment, what has been your blessing in disguise this week?

Oh my goodness Becca, what a terrible thing to happen! But how lucky you were. I just thought you and your mom were having such a great time you didn’t have time to post the day of giving last Friday. My husband is a blessing to me always, but this week I would nominate him for my blessing in disguise. He has helped me in countless ways getting ready for a big dinner that I’m serving to his Lodge on Saturday. He calms me down when I freak out about not having enough food or when I realize I have to go back to the store because I forgot one little (but important thing), and writing me reminders so I don’t forget to bring certain things from home that I’ll need for the dinner.ReplyCancel

Oh my gosh Becca, how terrible this is for you, but like you said, good that noone was hurt in any way, then the rest will get sorted eventually. We tryed this many many years ago, shortly after we had bought our current place, and was without any power for about 4 weeks over the christmas and winter here, so we had a christmas in candlelight that year, and the kids found it pretty exiting, because they thanks god, didn´t understand the serious part of it back then, but I agree with you, not anything I´ll like to try again ever either, that´s for sure. But don´t feel bad at all about the card, I´m sure we´ll all survive that part.

  • Karen WeddingAugust 12, 2016 - 10:47 am

So sorry to hear about the lightening strike. My blessing in disguise came to me when thinking about this question and I didn’t even realize it till now. I’ve always thought of it as a curse. I am a very caring person and would do anything for anybody in need, but am not a touchy-feely person or someone who oozes with sweetness. I am a type-A personality and it is very hard for me to be like that. Until now. My new daughter-in-law is someone who needs/likes to get reinforcement that you care about her. So I have to send her little texts and emails stating that I’m thinking about her and hope she has a good day, etc. At first it seemed forced and now I do it without even thinking about it. It has become much easier and it has spread to other people. That’s a good thing, right?ReplyCancel

  • Margene EskelsonAugust 12, 2016 - 10:50 am

Your card, of course, is beautiful!!! As I read of your “lightening” experience, my thoughts were turned to the tender mercies that God gives us in our lives everyday. My blessing this week was the return of a dear friend who opened her heart to me when my husband changed imployment and we moved to a new community. She moved about 6 months later, but returned this week for a visit and relaxing golf and chatter. My gift: there are wonderful, caring, good people wherever you go! I am blessed!ReplyCancel

Sorry for your troubles! Lightning can really mess up things in a house. Glad you were not harmed. My blessing in disguise is I have 2 friends from school (mind you that was 50 years ago). It is I ironic that we each have a parent in the same nursing facility. We support each other during these trying times. One day this week we were all in the hall in a three way hug crying. It is wonderful to have some friends. We understand what the other is going through.ReplyCancel

Oh, my goodness, I have missed you, too. Blessed be that you and your Mom are okay. So sorry about your home and all your electronics that got “fried” by lightning. Since you were not on-line, I was so worried about you and your Mom. Prayers were going out for you two several times a day. Your card is lovely. I like that embossing folder that you used. Glad your foot is healing well. For your question: my blessing in disguise this week has been that I was able to work on my August cards that need to go out this month due to the continual rains that have kept me from doing the MANual work that I need to do on my decks. I would much rather work on my cards than be outside in the heat on my decks, BUT I must get these decks sanded and stained before the cold weather sets in here in the mountains. Take care my friend!ReplyCancel

Thanking the Lord you are alright. Stuff can be replaced, but you are not! Happy you had some rest away from all the daily pressures which can truly take over our lives without us realizing it – we have all experienced it! Silly as it may sound, I have forced myself to come out of my studio and sit with my husband while he sleeps (on Hospice), and just quietly read a book – this blessing in disguise has brought companionship as he awakes for a few minutes, and peace to my heart.

OH Dear Becca, lightning? First of all, my mouth made a loud WOW when I saw this card. So fine! I love fussy cutting flowers.

My Blessing in disguise is similar to yours. Our home was struck by lightning as well. When the firemen were through cleaning up the mess we looked at our Insurance Policy and, because we had moved from out of state we left the details to our Realtor whose brother owned an Insurance Company and had written a Policy with everything imaginable in it. So we were 3 months out of our home while it was repaired, repainted, new wood floors and new counter top in the kitchen. Plus new everything appliances. The lightning had hit the meter and traveled up the wiring into the duct work and spewed fire and soot on everything. However, BID again, we had just moved in and most of our belongings were still in boxes. God is good!
I called this a silver lining in a very dark cloud. As you know the South is known for bad storms. My prayers are with you to help you get back to normal. God Bless?ReplyCancel

As for my blessing…..I have not felt good all week, one of those that you can’t shake off, waaaaay overtired for no reason, lite stress getting the better of me. Since January I have been working on my crafts to enter in the county fair that I have been doing for many years. I just had knee surgery and not back on my feet. The line to enter has always been very long and the summer heat is very bad. Since I worked so hard on my entries and no matter what I was going to enter them. I worried about the long line and uneven ground but when I got there, there was only 2 people in line. This was a first and a real blessing.

I would love to send you a card, but I don’t have your address….then again, perhaps you don’t have access to your normal postal deliveries!

Just came across your website, loved your card and read about your lightning encounter. My goodness that is scary, glad there were no injuries. I love your idea of day of giving. Although your card is wonderful I just wanted to leave you some encouragement although you sound so optimistic I have no doubt you’ll get through this challenging time. If you send me your snail mail address I’ll send you a card – I have just a perfect one in mind.ReplyCancel

    Dear, Becca,
I am so relieved to hear that you are okay. It’s just like you to find the blessing in this situation. No wonder we love you so much!
I had a bad allergy day this week which found me giving myself a little TLC. Because of that, I was home when FedEx tried for the 3rd time to make an important delivery. That certainly saved me some wear and tear.
What beautiful detailing to today’s card. I just love the embossing and the exquisite cuts of the frames and tags.
    Love and blessings, SandyReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
So sorry to hear what happened. I have to admit I was hoping you were ok after not seeing your post last week. I am glad you are both safe. Material things can be replaced, it’s people that can’t. Sending you my prayers that it is not a stressfull time for you & grateful you were not injured,
I have seen a family get torn apart recently in such a terrible way. My blessing probably not in desguise, but it has made me apreciate everything my husband does for me even more & realise the dramas with my teenagers are just tittle problems compared to what others are going through in todays world. I try to focus more on the positives rather than the negatives. Sometimes we all have a terrible thing happen around us that makes us stop & see the world through different eyes.

  • Cyndy WAugust 12, 2016 - 5:36 pm

I love the card you are sharing Becca. My blessing came this past week from being able to spend quality time with my mother who is in the end stages of Alzheimers. She lives several states away from me and our visits are not as often as I would like. Most of the week she knew she “knew me” but did not know my name. On one special afternoon, she looked at me and her eyes got very large and bright and she not only recognized me but she asked about my husband and son. The Lord blessed me with a few precious minutes of complete clarity for her and we had an incredible bonding moment before the disease lowered the curtain and she once again slipped away. Might not seem like much to many, but to those of us who have loved ones afflicted with this disease and are watching them slip away ever so slowly, a lucid moment of clarity is a rare and wonderful blessing. God bless and hope you heal soon!ReplyCancel

My oh my Becca, what a terrible experience. I’m so pleased that you and your mom are ok and also that your foot is healing nicely. As usual you have produced for us a stunning card. My blessing in disguise this week was getting the opportunity and time to do a little sorting out of some drawers because a necessary repair meant the unit needed to be moved and the drawers emptied to lesson the weight! I hope things get back to normal for you very soon. Best wishes. Doreen R from Bournemouth UKReplyCancel

So sorry to hear that you had this horrible accident with your home but am so glad that you or your mother were not hurt. My blessing came in the way of a total stranger. I was getting in my car and missed the step and fell really hard I thought I twisted my ankle he saw what happened and came and helped me up, thanking my lucky starts and God that nothing was broken or sprained he could not do enough for me. He restored my faith in man kind that there are good people still with us. So happy to see your post really would love to have this card to give to this gentleman.ReplyCancel

  • DeniceAugust 12, 2016 - 7:21 pm

I find blessings in disguise in so many things that have happened in my life. God is so good and loves us so much. He knows what needs to happen in order to get us closer to where we need to be with Him and He weaves people into our lives that get involved with our situations because they may be the one He is working on at the time. I try to count it all joy as I walk the tribulation pathway but sometimes it can be hard. I have gone through many things in my life, so much so that it has gotten easier and easier to count it all joy. When I got cancer last year I cried for about a minute and then stopped and tried to look at this as a blessing and it was. I met so many people that I spread God’s wonderful love to and I pray all the seeds that were spread will bring a great harvest. Cancer truly was a blessing in disguise. I am completely healed and have baffled the doctors and nurses with the great miracle from God. Becca, you have such a wonderful heart. I pray God will continue to bless you and your family. Hugs, Denice :)ReplyCancel

Becca, I’m so sorry for the trouble that you are going through. While my house has never been struck it’s been close enough to fry some of my appliances. Thank heaven that neither you nor your Mom was hurt. It will all get fixed or replaced eventually, it just takes time and some teeth gnashing! Oh, by the way, be careful with the gnashing, otherwise you get to add dental bills to the rest! Thankful you’re ok.ReplyCancel

  • Connie RileyAugust 12, 2016 - 10:31 pm

    Dear Becca,
First of all, thank God you and your Mom were not harmed when lightning hit your house. As catastrophic as the damage to equipment can be and as inconvenient as a relocation to cooler dwellings is, nothing can replace the health and welfare of you and your Mom. Secondly, it is a testament to your resiliency that you’ve marshalled on and are back to providing a blog post on “finding blessings in disguise.” You are a marvel to us all. I had no tragedy like yours this week; however, a very dear friend went to the emergency room to be checked over when his left arm went numb. It stopped my fussing about day to day life and events and made me focus on how precious friendhip is. Thoughts of how integral this person has been in my social group for the past 30 or so years and how I take his presence for granted sometimes, i.e., I expect that he will always be here. Scary, deep thoughts and ones that make you sit up and notice what is going on around you with new awareness–at least for a little while! I am glad you and your Mom are okay and I hope you and your foot continue to improve. Thanks for another thought provoking Friday!ReplyCancel

My bessing is that my husband and I are still here t otell this tale. Our car was hit by a lorry on the motorway last week when we travelling north to my niece’s wedding. Amazingly, apart from a couple of bruises and being very badly shaken, we are unhurt. Since then in my mind I have been singing “God will take care of you” and I just cannot get it out of my head. Didn’t get to the wedding needless to say. My heart goes out to you for the lightening strike. It has happened to us twice!! So glad to see you back! Missed you and was beginning to worry. So very sorry to hear about your lightning experience. We all know it could have been worse (total destruction). Many lightning strikes start fires. The fact that did not occur is truly a blessing, blatant and not in disguise. The fact that you and Mom could afford to go elsewhere to stay, another blatant blessing. Just being awakened through grace every morning is a blessing I thank God for every day! As most of my blessings are blatant to me, I can not think of one in disguise that occurred this week.
The card is a STUNNER! Well worth the wait. Love the embossing, the patterned papers, the fussy cutting, and the over all design. You are such a WONDER! Speaking of fussy cutting, what was the source of the flowers? They are a lovely representation.
Thanks for all your time, effort, and devotion to this blog. It’s the 1st one I check everyday. Several days without an update leads to seeds of concern. You always explain your absences. Oh my! I’m so sorry to hear about lightning striking your home! What a terrible thing to have happen and I know the hassle you are going through dealing with insurance since I was a licensed insurance agent for 20 years. I pray everything goes much better than you could anticipate and that you find hidden blessings in many many things as you travel this road.

I received an unexpected blessing from my hubby this week. My family is giving a joint birthday party for my Mom (turning 85) and her sister (turning 80) so I’ve been making 125 invitations, including the envelopes. I needed to emboss 125 she’s of cards to clean that are 6×12″. My wonderful hubby has been recovering from open heart surgery that he had multiple complications with. Instead of 5 days in the hospital, he spent 12! Although his recovery has been slow and he now ha Pericarditis, he volunteered to do all the embossing for me! Since he’s stronger than I am, cranking the handle on the die cutting machine was much easier and faster for him. I’m sorry he’s had to go through the operation but I was blessed because he was here , available and willing to help me out. He’s always an amazing husband but he scored lots of extra points this week! I am blessed!

I love your card and the layers and texture it has. It is fabulous so, as usual, I’m crossing my fingers!
    Have a wonderful weekend!

What a beautiful card Becca. So glad to hear you and your mom are okay. Repairs to house and contents will take time.

A few weeks ago a huge storm came through and knocked a cell phone tower over, and that pulled down a whole host of power lines! We were without power for 3 days… right in the middle of a heat wave, and of course lots of humidity. I spent lots of time with my mom at her nursing home as it is air conditioned and I was also able to charge my cell phone and Kindle. I live out in the country and we have well water, soooo it requires electricity to run the water pump. Not only did we have no a/c, TV, internet, stove/oven, refrigerator, freezer, but no water, no toilets, no shower either! I even went out to visit my Amish friend. Told her I was learning how the Amish live! But at least they have water, toilets, showers, etc. Long story short, my blessing in disguise was that I was able to spend a lot of quality time with my mom and friends.ReplyCancel

    Good afternoon Becca,
OH flower how lucky you and your Mum is when what could have been so much worse. We have had that lightening across here in Scotland over the past couple of weeks and it is so frightening. I hope that your wee Mum has got over the ramivacations of it and yes bless your lucky stars that you are both safe and sound. Another way of thinking on it is that you both perhaps needed some time away that is both gentle and kind on you with no distractions of deadlines to meet or what “must” be done as this just shows that nothing is more important than being safe and sound.
Your card is bonnie flower both in design and in the papers that you have used giving it that shabby chic look that is all around but in a more clean and elegent way( i don’t do roughed up card or torn card, the part of the brain that can allow that is very much over ruled by the neat, tidy and precise part). I hope that you get back into your home soon and it is back to normal.
My blessing is having beautiful friends that know when i need that bit of a perk up because things have just went and piled on top of each other. MY lovely friends are coming down on Monday to have lunch out with me which they don’t skirt around the problem, they hit it head on and deal with it and give me a lighter heart.
    Love and crafty hugs

Good morning and Happy (Day of Giving) Friday.  I love giving no occasion cards and thankfully this supports all the justifications I have for card making.  Let’s face it, there’s a gap from one holiday to the next so this is what fills in the cracks and puts the responsible facade on the front of some of my collecting habits :-). Seriously though, of all the cards given, holiday cards seem to be anticipated, while that ‘no occasion’, ‘just because’ card is simply a spontaneous surprise and likely at the time that it is needed the most.  My thought for you today is to never doubt your own kindness.  It is not frivolous and you can never measure how much you have lifted someone at their darkest moment.  Today I’m sharing a simple blessing card.  I duplicated this card many times to send out to friends and I’m letting my last one go…

Becca, your words just brought tears to my eyes today because you really never know when you send the “just because” card how much it will touch someone. In this day of social media we are losing the gesture of sending cards “just because”. We text, we instant-message, but we are often too busy to send something beautiful like this card of yours. You are an inspiration to us all.
I send more “thinking of you” than holiday cards. In fact, I don’t send many holiday cards at all anymore. Maybe I’ll do better this year!ReplyCancel

  • KathyJuly 29, 2016 - 10:00 am

Beautiful card. I definitely send out more holiday cards than “just because”. I send 20 cards for each holiday, so as soon as one holiday ends, I start planning for the next. Right now I am finishing Halloween, but I have several ideas for Thanksgiving on the drawing board. Of course, I also make birthday & thank you cards throughout the year. I have embraced a suggestion from Jennifer McGuire & try to make multiples of the same card so I always have one ready to go! Blessings to you!ReplyCancel

Good morning, Becca. Your card for today is so perfect! Although I love the idea of sending a card spontaneously for “no occasion” I’m always so behind in the cards for birthdays, etc. that I never seem to be able to make cards ahead! This card is so beautiful and I will probably attempt to do it for a special birthday or an anniversay for someone special. If I ever get organized, who knows maybe someday I, too, can surprise a lucky friend of mine with this “no occasion” card. It could happen. Thanks, as always, for sharing your wonderful talent and creative ideas.ReplyCancel

  • Barbara CJuly 29, 2016 - 10:23 am

Gorgeous card, Becca! I do mostly holiday/occasion cards, but I really want to do more “anytime” cards. I think they are more important! Being a 24/7 caregiver to my husband, I know what it means to find an unexpected note or card in my mailbox…it means the world to me. It means I’m not forgotten. Your “Blessing” card is beautiful. I give/send more all occasion cards than Holiday cards if one counts Birthday and Anniversary cards in the all occasion cards. I find as I am aging and my friends are aging and they are going through life’s trials and health issues, I am making and sending out loads of “thinking of you” cards to lift their spirits. When I first found your blog last summer during your give away a day card time, one of your questions had to do with what do we do with the extra cards we make. My answer at that time was to tell you I was making one card at a time and did not have any extras on hand. Well, times have changed. And now I do make more of the same design, changing colors and placements to change them up to have extras on hand. That way I can get my cards in the mail sooner without the waiting time of making one card at a time. Wishing you a most pleasant weekend. How’s your foot?ReplyCancel

  • DebraJuly 29, 2016 - 10:27 am

This is a great idea to give ‘no occasion’ cards. I love making them more than any other kind of card. When my daughter was away from home, I used to make and send her encouragement cards often but now she is home, I don’t. Maybe I need to start up that practice again! Right now I make more holiday and occasion cards. You’ve created another beautiful card for us Becca! Thanks for sharing!ReplyCancel

  • TammieJuly 29, 2016 - 10:28 am

Hi Becca. Hope you are healing well.
I love the simple message of this card. I would send a card with this message to several special people in my life. I send “anytime” cards more often than holiday cards. Each day is an opportunity to share a sweet message with others.ReplyCancel

Becca, all your cards are so beautiful and I’d love to receive one.
The cards I send out most are just everyday cards. I love to send them to my family to let them know how much I care or to just give them a little chuckle with the humorous ones I send.

My daughters and grandkids love receiving them and if I haven’t sent one in a while I always get, “Hey, where’s my cards?”ReplyCancel

I probably do a lot more holiday cards then “thinking of you” cards. The times that I have sent out those cards I received calls from the recipients on how they loved getting the card. We all should be more thoughtful and kind to others. Your card is amazing as usual Becca.ReplyCancel

  • Yoshiko GlennJuly 29, 2016 - 10:36 am

  • Joanne LoweJuly 29, 2016 - 10:48 am

Definitely more of the anytime cards–thank you, get well, thinking of you, etc. I love sending an encouragement card, hoping to make a whole lot more once my craft room is completely overhauled, and I just bought a new electric die-cutting machine (Gemini by CC), and am hoping that this is going to make die-cutting and card-making a lot easier physically. Can’t wait to try some watercoloring on images heat embossed in white or clear, I really want to try this, and I’m hoping I can do a decent job.

Always LOVE your cards, Becca!!! You are such an encouragement and a blessing to all of us here who read your blog updates regularly, and I know to all of those loved ones around you. I hope you know just how much you mean to all of us!!! And I hope that you have dear ones who regularly encourage YOU!!! A friend today put a posting on FB talking about how God’s grace is sufficient, even for all of my flaws and failings, realizing this is such an encouragement to me…

Be blessed, Becca, and have a very enjoyable weekend.ReplyCancel

  • Carole FlanaginJuly 29, 2016 - 10:57 am

Becca, what an inspiration you have been to me in my card making. This card is absolutely beautiful. I make cards year round for family, friends, senior members of our church. This means I am making Christmas, birthdays, thinking of you, get well, sympathyk, and love making those cute new baby cards. I would have to say that I make less holiday cards.ReplyCancel

  • Marilyn in E~TownJuly 29, 2016 - 10:57 am

Gorgeous card! I love your loopy bow, such a sweet addition. I love to send “just because” cards at any time, for any reason. Who wouldn’t want to find a gorgeous hand made card in their mail box, talk about a spirit lifting moment! I can visualize smiling faces now.
I also made it a mission of mine to make a project every year for the ladies at my church, then I mail it to them on their birthdays, it is as much of a pleasure for them to receive as it is for me to make, thinking of each of them as I assembly the project. So far I’ve done cards with flower bouquets, cards with a hand colored image and this year they get a puff pillow box, with flowers and a mini birthday card inside. 2017 will be a tag with a Magnolia-Lucius image colored on it.
Oh how I love to brighten other people’s day?

I actually think, I do more anytime cards than holiday cards. Especially the last couple of years life has been a bit rough, so I haven´t got as many holidaycards done, as I used to earlier, but I alwayas manage one way or another to get them at least one card during the year, either for their birthday or sometime else, or just because, and that´s because all other people make or get cards to give for these special occasions, but then I´ll make one for some other time, when they least expect it, and it can hopefully make their day at that time.
Thanks sooo much for sharing this gorgeous card here today Becca, it´s soooo gorgeous and sooo elegant. I just absolutely love it with that fabulous bow on it.ReplyCancel

I so love your cards and especially your dies! As to what cards I make the most, I’m on the design team for Crafters companion so I rarely have the time to make cards to give “just because” although I do try to for both our parents as they do so much for us. It’s our 17th wedding anniversary today and I’ve been so busy with dt work plus we’ve just moved that today is the first time since I’ve been making cards that my poor hubby didn’t get one. When I apologised he don’t worry I have loads you’ve made me.

    Hi, Becca,
YOU are a blessing! I can see why you duplicated this card – it is so beautiful, sight and sentiment.
While I do make a lot of cards at the holidays, especially Christmas, I make cards for my church and community choirs to reach out to our members in greater quantities. “Thinking of You” cards for Sympathy or health concerns are the most common, with “Thank You” cards in the mix, as well. I am challenged to keep up with demand, but I am honored to have many people around me that appreciate and encourage my craft.

    Hi Becca!
Love the cream color to this card. I seem to forget cream and go in favor of white. I love the layering on this card but especially love the pop of the pink ribbon and button details! I seem to give cards mostly for birthdays and holidays, although, I do send “brighten your day cards” to my two daughters who sometimes need a boost of confidence. I need to rethink sending out for ‘just because’ more!ReplyCancel

Your card is so pretty, as they all are!!!!! :) I guess I send out cards more for holidays and occasions like birthdays, anniversaries and the like. I do send some cards for no reason though. Hope your foot is getting much better!ReplyCancel

Becca: I would feel so blessed to win one of your cards. You are such an inspiration to me. When I reach a roadblock in my creating, I go to Amazing Paper Grace for inspiration. I send more holiday cards although I do share many birthday cards with my family and friends. Cardmaking is a therapy for me. Thanks for sharing your talent.ReplyCancel

I generally send more Christmas cards than anything. I do, however, send lots of birthday cards. I wish I had time to make more cards but life comes first. Hope you have a wonderful week.ReplyCancel

Just for the joy on the face of a recipient given a ‘no occasion’ card is a pleasure to me.
Such a beautiful card and loving the Spellbinders dies.

    Hi Becca,
What a lovely card & lovely idea. I guess not only will it cheer the receiver but it makes the giving person happy. I always like giving gifts etc more than I enjoy receiving.
I make more birthday cards than anything. I think I will have to take on the just because idea as well.
    Have a lovely weekend xReplyCancel

Beautiful card! This is my first chance to post a comment on Day of Giving. I am normally not on my computer on Friday’s but with all this rain, it is an inside day for sure.

I mainly give birthday and Christmas cards so I guess I fall under the holiday giver. I do love to make cards but I hope one day I can make cards like yours without having to copy.

Thanks for all the inspiration you provide to me.ReplyCancel

Another beautiful card. It must feel good for you to be home. Take it easy and do not attempt to do to much. God Bless
