 
Good morning sweet friends. My apologies but I plumb forgot to list last weeks Day of Giving winner but I managed to get the name posted yesterday. If you don’t mind, please have a look and see – there are a couple of weeks of cards waiting to be claimed. And we’re back to Friday again and a new card for Day of Giving Friday. Nature sure conspired as it often does, but yesterday brought a packed menu of weird weather with hot, cold, wind, rain and hail – I lost a large branch from my tree also. No worries, today I’m sipping coffee looking out on the rain.
How It’s Made
I took a patterned background and cut it a couple of times and removed all chads replacing them with random chads to make a different background. I wish I had natural light today to show you how it really looks, but rain has claimed the last couple of days. I left some of the chads out for a more distressed look – the background die is Spellbinders Grate Effect. On top I layered a horizontal die – Spellbinders Diamond Floral and two tails of ribbon through the diamond slots. Over the top of the diamond slots, I tucked in the embossed circle from Spellbinders Blooming Collection and used the left over circle cut to stamp my sentiment from Quietfire Design – With Heart.

It’s not often that I work with the color orange and it’s not often than I make something so totally casual, fun and whimsical. Well, the stars aligned and today I’m sharing sweet Easter Treats I have ready to give to some of my little buddies who would not particularly appreciate an over the top lace and filigree creation. See, to be honest, they want the candy! What crafter wouldn’t want to make it tantalizing buy giving them just the right wrappings? These have been done for quite some time and it took an act of total will power not to dive in and eat it all up. Well, I did sample one of those goodies yesterday and to my surprise it wasn’t chocolate like I thought but creamy carrot cake (candy) – who knew?
Might you recognize that flower? Ah hunh, the same one that went on my card yesterday in my Clean Shabby Post. Back when I was playing with the flower I thought it would make an excellent carrot top! Snicker – this was fun (hard to photograph, but fun). I used clear acetate craft sheets to cut Spellbinders What’s the Point to make the pointed box. I filled it up with Hersheys Carrot Cake Candy Kisses then topped the box with a three layer flower made using Spellbinders Petal Pusher. The cute tag is from Spellbinders Giving Makes You Happy.
Designer Note: I tried lots of different glues to get the outcome I wanted with the clear acetate. On attempt number five I used plain old double sided Scotch Tape, and it was a winner!!

Good morning lovelies!! Ahem, I think you will see a continuing theme through my last posts – I’m just head over heels with flowers. Today I’m featuring another Spoon Flower and this time the petals are gestured downward. This is actually my demo flower – the one I put together while I was playing around – it went together easier than I thought so I decided to use it.
Clean Shabby
So I put together what I call a “clean shabby” birthday card. My sister turned me on to The Fixer Upper – with Joanna Gaines. I love the colors and the look and feel of everything they do! It just made me feel okay that these are the colors I reach for often. The embossing panel reminds me a lovely antique metal tile – I’m using Spellbinders Labels 34 Medallion Embossing Folder. I finished off the edges with Spellbinders A2 Tranquil Moments – I discarded most of the diecut saving the gorgeous corners to peek out around the edges. It’s ‘no stress’ trimming because my remedial fussy cutting is hidden by the other elements – yay! The stamp sentiment is a handy one from my word tool box, it’s Penny Black – Sentimental. Then the hero or heroine – Spellbinders Petal Pusher. I thought it would make a perfect focal for the entire card with the sweetness of the diecut flower. Don’t be afraid of the dimension – sending in a corrugated dvd box preserves the height and the recipient is in for a wow when they open the flap to an undisturbed flower.

- Cut 3 flowers, shaping as done in video
- Place each set of petals on a foam mat and poke down in center using a something fat like a sharpie or 1/2 paint brush handle.
- Place a dollop of hot glue in the center of each flower and stack one on top of the other – offset each layer slightly.
- Stand back and admire :-)

Beautiful card. Our family Easter tradition is getting up early for the Easter Sunrise service then home to a sit down family meal.
We all gather at my sister’s house for dinner. Crafts for the grandkids to do, while the grown ups get to visit. It is always fun for everyone!
Our traditions are always about family and gathering together to share a meal. Easter dresses, and coloring eggs, the egg hunt and bunny ears with the grandkids!
This card is so lovely. I would use this as a gender neutral card . . . The bow could pass for a bow tie.
When children were youn we used to hide the eggs in the garden , now they are all grown up we have a Sunday Easter Lunch after church.

So very sorry for your loss Kathy. My father died 3 days before Thanksgiving several years ago, and it made celebrating Thanksgiving very difficult for several years. But in time, and after I started my own family, it got easier. God Bless you and your family.

So sorry to hear you lost your beloved father. Remember you were blessed to have had him and have a relationship with him. Many children didn’t have relationships with their dads. Today is a NO Meat day, I was brought up on the day being sad, no washing on the line today, as my Nan would have said ” Washing in Blood, its like putting Flags out” So the tradition has stuck!
Its called Good Friday in the UK, but apparently in Germany its called Sorrowful Friday, which I think suits better!
Not many people observe the rituals anymore but there you go…I do!

What a beautiful card. Our special Easter tradition was always go to sunrise service at the lake, go out for breakfast and then go home and make a ham. Now that kids are grown we just play the dinner part by ear. Happy Reserection Day and God bless my friend.

I love your card. The bow is so beautiful and the stamp sentiment is very true–love makes the impossible, possible. When I was growing up, Easter was a time of sorrow(for our Lord’s death) and celebration(for He is risen) with family–sunrise service and lots of visiting. My grandmother had a huge family(11 sisters and brothers), so you can imagine the family get-together. Smiles. Today, is a different story, as Grandma has passed-on and my husband and I have moved around the globe several times. The kids are grown and live away from home…. This Easter will be quiet, but we will be thankful for the love, joy, children, relatives, friends and all of the wonderful miracles the Lord has allowed in our lives and the lives of those around us. Yes, there will be less preparation, but we will be filled with soooo much gratitude and love. And, yes, sorrow for the shedding of His Blood, but sooo much thankfulness for His Resurrection. YES!!! Many blessings to you and all of your wonderful followers~

Traditions seem to be changing as the kids get older now….we aren’t all together on Easter this year. :( The kids are past the Easter egg hunt phase & Easter baskets….so, we’ll find something to do I’m sure. MAYBE, eat out after church, so I don’t have to cook! LOL ;)
With family gone, it’s a quiet day of reflection with my husband. Love the card. Such a soft black, or is it a deep charcoal?
An Easter egg hunt was always our tradition. I remember one year when my Dad had to give us hints to help us find the yellow dyed egg that was hidden in our lemon tree!
Just being thankful that Christ died to take on the sins of the world. All you have to do is believe and ask for forgiveness. Aren’t we a lucky lot.

We have dinner with the family followed by a cake in the shape of a lamb (pound cake covered in white frosting with coconut flakes covering the entire lamb).

Since my husband always has to work on Easter now, we squeeze out a little time for our 2 young grandsons. They won’t be little for long and we don’t like to miss special days with them.

Stunning card – love everything about it. We always have the family around for dinner on Easter Sunday and for the last six years an Easter egg hunt for our granddaughter, to be joined next year by our grandson, who should be toddling by then.

Lovely inspirational card. The love of God, most assuredly made the resurrection possible! I am blessed to have my children and three grandchildren visiting for Easter this year. Thankfully the 12 inches of snow that fell at one of their homes, won’t stand in the way of their 3 hour drive to be with us, where we were spared. Our tradition is the finding of hidden, lovingly prepared Easter baskets, which always, must include a religious item, along with the bunnies and other things.

A special part of holy week is the Maundy Thursday service, we share a simple meal followed by worship. It’s a somber yet joyful occasion and sets a reflective tone. Easter is all about celebration and a great time to be in the choir!

What a beautiful card today, it is so gorgeous.
Our traditions are the ones held by a lot of people. A day of fasting so only one meal which is fish. Stations of the Cross in Church at 3 p.m. No washing of clothes, no shopping and a day spent with family. So we have a peaceful, no rushing around type of day!!!

Our special tradition is having an Easter egg hunt. This year we still have snow on the ground in the U.P. of Michigan so we’ll have it indoors!

We have no special thing we do for Easter.
Our custom for Easter is to go to the sunrise service at church and stay for the Easter breakfast. After that we join in on the festival service. If the grandchildren are coming over for dinner, we do an Easter egg hunt – just a little candy and some money in the eggs.

I send an Easter Blessings card for my friends and family. I don’t do this now but when I was growing up we took a basket of food we would eat on Easter Sunday and have it blessed at the church by the priest.

I forgot to add how we celebrate. We sometimes stray from the old traditions as far as eating is concerned. I think we always enjoy reading about the resurrection and what it means to us. Because without His death there would be no eternity with Him.
Becca it’s been raining here the past two days too and I am in New Jersey. We have the dark storm clouds hanging over us too. It finds me comfort in knowing that someone else who has a love for crafts like I do, is also sitting in the same weather. :) Weird I know! LOL
Your card is stunning! I LOVE how you make those bows! So darn beautiful! And as for Easter… we have a family tradition that has been in our lives for most of mine, since I was just a little girl (am now in my 40’s). The family all gets together and we go out to eat at a nice fancy restaurant for an early dinner (2pm) and once we leave there (usually between 4 and 4:30pm)we head on down to the boardwalk along the shore coast. Everything is opened up on Easter so we put the kids on the rides, play in the arcade, play the games to try and win Easter baskets and candy and take tons and tons of family photos. :)
We are supposed to have 70 degree weather for Easter so I am really looking forward to it. I wish you a very beautiful, blessed and Happy Easter my friend!

gorgeous card today. I love Easter egg hunts. so much so that I did them with the kids when they were way past the age to hunt. like with my son and his fiancé. funny thing was they loved it too. we color the eggs then I pick one that is the special egg and write it down. the one who finds that one gets the big prize. they loved it. never knew who was going to win until the big reveal. have done this a couple of times with the grands when we are there at Easter.

As for Easter, we go to church and have a family dinner with my only family. That includes my husband, sister, niece and nephew. We lost our mother last year, and no one can fill her space. But we rejoice being together with good food and good company. Then the men drift off to watch something on TV and the women sit around the table catching up on our lives.

When we were growing up, my sister and I always dyed eggs the night before, then mom would hide them around inside the house after we went to bed. We would have our Easter egg hunt as soon as we got up in the morning. Mom started counting how many eggs she was hiding the year after we didn’t find all of them and a couple of weeks later, we just had to follow the smell to find the last one!
Then we’d dress in our new Easter dresses and all go to church.

Easter as a kid was all about fancy hats fun and laughter growing up. Egg hunts and that big ole ham made life seem so full and wonderful. But today the joy is in the saving power of God in my life and the celebration that He made it possible for me to really live as I never had before! He’s alive and so am I!

Usually we all get together at Mom’s. She and Daddy died in 2013 and life has been ….well not the same. Last year I got to go to my daughter’s and this year is unknown. I did get to see all my grands and my girls last weekend so I can’t be tooo sad! I will be at church in any case!

Well, I have not had except for one Tradition to Celebrate Easter and it is this: To allow myself some quiet time to reflect upon what Jesus truly did for me. To allow myself to feel the emotions he was going through, the rejection, the pain, the sorrow,the agony of his physical pain,mental pain and emotional pain of God turning his back on him because he cannot look upon sin.The loss of his friends at the lowest point of his life. Even to the point of feeling all the spit upon my body. It truly puts into perspective the Love that God had for me.
This year we are starting a new Tradition of creating Resurrection Rolls. But it will not be on Easter as most of the family has other obligations so we will not be meeting for Easter, but we shall still do it at a later date.
Beautiful card as always! It is just hubby and myself but he wants to cook some ribs in the smoker and my part will be potato salad. I always make deviled eggs for Easter. When I was growing up we always got a new dress, shoes and hat to wear to church. I can remember even wearing white gloves.

This year we are starting a new tradition. My parents are 91 and 93 and have just moved into a beautiful senior living community. So we, (9) of us, are all going to eat Easter Sunday dinner with them in the big dinning room. Another beautiful card!! Love the browns and taupe/tan/beige (didn’t know what to call it–haha) and it’s all so pretty! Our tradition is going to church with my sister and family. We go out to eat or to her house (she & I prefer the eating out :) but always dessert at her house and just being together. We always hope our adult kiddos are able to join us too. I rarely use black, but this beauty has convinced me I should use it more often!
We gather at Church at 8.30 am on Good Friday morning for bacon sandwiches and then walk the 2.5 miles to the town centre, passing 2 other Churches en route and gathering more walkers behind the Cross. Several other outlying Churches do the same, collecting other worshippers to walk with several 7 foot crosses and we then join a collective form of worship at 11 am, right in the pedestrianised High Street, as others shop!

It ALWAYS includes church and family dinner
Beautiful, beautiful card!! Love the color combination. Our Easter usually is with extended family, but both sides have been hit with cancer this year, so things will be a bit different. Still family, but just immediate.
After sunrise service we gather for true brunch. A son, two daughters and husbands, 6 grandchildren and an in-law for good measure. We have an egg hunt and if it rains, Easter bingo with prizes. Most important is thankfulness for the salvation of Easter’s sorrow and joy.
Lovely and elegant card – the steel gray is so pretty. I like how you filled in the chads. It is so pretty.
One of our special Easter traditions is going to my husband’s cousin’s home and gathering with extended family for a long afternoon with lunch and a wonderful outdoor egg hunt with all the children – and then one for children and adults with “prizes” and golden eggs. It’s a great family time and there are generally a couple birthdays to celebrate as well.

Very pretty card again today. You always create the most beautiful cards. Our Easter tradition begins with church on Sunday morning followed with dinner with our children and grandchildren (age 3 and 3 1/2 months). After dinner, we will have an Easter Egg Hunt before nap time. My grandson and I have already made our Easter Eggs for our centerpiece and paper eggs to
Beautiful card. Love the soft effect the addition of the diamond floral die cut gave this card. We always host the Easter Egg Hunt for the kids. I decorate the back yard with a large Mr. & Mrs. Easter Bunny yard ornament that I made several years ago and groupings of large egg ornaments that are decorated and have the kids names on them. Always makes for great Easter pictures. We usually have an early dinner with family and close family friends.

When my children were younger we always had the Easter egg hut. I had to keep on hiding them the rest of the day for them to find. The boys had so much fun. We would go to church after the first hunt and later have a big Easter dinner with all the family. Now we have our first grandchild who is just a year old so we will give him a basket of oranges since he can’t have eggs and have a big Easter dinner. Your card is beautiful. Our family always gets together for brunch on Easter. My mom always makes pickled eggs and beets. I’m pretty sure that she is the only one who eats them!
Take our kids easter egg hunting but know it’s our Granddaughter we take now.then have Easter dinner. We also have an Easter basket for hr. Now she is older she will be better at the hunting. It’s so fun watching all the kids having fun. Hoe you have an Amazing Easter Becca.

One of the traditions we have at our house: eggs hidden night before, it does not matter if you are an adult or a child, if there is a basket with your name on it, you just have to go and look for your eggs and some of your goodies.
We have a communal basket for adults only with the expensive chocolates and goodies that may have or involve adult beverages, the kids each get goodies and Steif animals.(love those, the itty bitty ones are inexpensive and easy to collect)
No one is allowed to look until I say: G O , then all bets are off, you should see my adult children act like young kids again. It gives their kids a chance to see that Mom & Dad are not always fuddy duddies and have fun too…..

and what it means to us.
Can’t help but think of all the people in this world who do not have much to celebrate especially the ones who are terrorised .
It is a wonderful time for Christian people to celebrate .

After church service, we always took flowers to be placed at our family’s graves and then went home to have our Easter brunch with relatives and neighbors. My mother always had to have her tray of hot cross buns. This continues to be our family tradition.
Oh, wow! This card is spectacular! I’m going to have to get a thesaurus to find different superlatives to describe your cards as they are too beautiful for trite words!!
This time of year I like to take the days following the actual anniversary of Christ’s death and resurrection and re-read all the parallel passages in the gospels in chronological order day-by-corresponding-day.
I just checked the list… I can go have my name changed to one of those! : )

Hi Becca, This is absolutely stunning !! I love how you have used the grate effect die with some ‘fall aways’ from other papers, leaving some openings empty, what a fabulous technique, I love it.
My Easter is always hectic, my Church Services are always busy in the week beforehand, we have a ‘footwashing’ on Maundy Thursday and after the Service we have a ‘Vigil’. Then we have a Service on Good Friday, then today it was cleaning and getting the Church in readiness for Easter Day. Tomorrow is an early start, I go to the ‘Dawn’ Service at 6.30am (made even harder because our clocks go forward one hour tonight), then we have breakfast at Church, clear up, make our way back home to get ourselves ready for the Family Service at 10.30am. Like I said, it’s hectic haha, the emotions are unbelievable this Easter week, but it is a lovely time.

I will be going out Good Friday morning to take part in the annual procession of witness in my home town of south shields. For 166 years the churches of our town have, with brass bands leading us, paraded through the streets to our towns market square to hold a service and to witness to our faith. After that service we again march back to our own churches to hold a service. Our reward for taking part, an orange. This is so much part of our lives that when rain intervenes everyone, those taking part and those just watching feel a great sense of sadness.

Happy Easter, Becca, How do you keep coming up with new ideas–interchangeable chads. Leaving some openings empty adds to the interest. Thanks, even I can do this after given the key to good design. I also like the bow tails not flopping–leave that to the Easter Bunny. Since the kids have flow the nest and grand kids are far away, the Easter egg hunt and brunch after church is no more but I attend the early service to rejoice and worship with fellow believers. Easter is a religious week for us. Fasting Good Friday & going to numerous masses starting from Holy Thursday through to Easter Sunday. Then having a big Easter Sunday lunch celebration with loved ones.

Our family tradition was to spend Easter Eve dyeing and decorating eggs. Early Easter morning was spent going to church and then the big Easter Hunt. Later in the afternoon was spent having a big meal with family and friends.
