New Fall 2015 Dies designed by Becca Feeken as a Licensed Designer for Spellbinders Paper Arts: S6-050 Cinch and Go Flowers - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Sweet friends, I hope you’ll indulge me.  Making dies is a dream come true for me and the long wait from design time to production feels like a kid waiting for Christmas.  Since life has changed for me so much over the last years, this is something I really look forward to and truly savor plus it lets me be able to keep Amazing Paper Grace going.  These are dies I designed at the beginning of the year and I’ve sat on pins and needles hoping you like them.    As always, you know that you can pop me any advice about things you’d like to see on my contact page.  Without further ado… Introducing Cinch and Go Flowers.

Here is a video so that you can see the dies in detail as well as how to make two versions of the flowers I show here.

I decided to go with a long format card (sized 5″ x 9-1/4″) so that I could build a spray of flowers using S6-050 Spellbinders Cinch and Go Flowers by Amazing Paper Grace.  The flowers run down a good bit of the length of the card. A custom envelope will be in order but that’s easy these days the envelope board I normally use.  I simply embellished the card with Spellbinders Victorian Arch and the corners are the edges of Spellbinders A2 Tranquil Moments – I just isolated one corner and tucked the rest behind.

OH MY!!! A set of flower dies from Becca Freeken! I am so thrilled! One of my favorite things to do is create my own flowers for my projects and I’ve been waiting for something from you. I have not disappointed either…not that I ever thought you would. You have thought of everything! Attaching the smaller dies together to create the perfect card size flower is BRILLIANT and your idea for stacking them on a pearl with wire is ASTOUNDING! You will save me hours of work and the flowers can be done in multiple ways! AMAZING! I cannot wait to hold these gems in my hands and add my ink and maybe a bit of glitter now and again!

The card you created is stunningly elegant in its simplicity! I love the taupe, cream and PINK colors. The die cuts are GORGEOUS and your flowers complete the look of a very chic card. I am in love with this card and have no doubt I will recreate my own version and send it off to my Mothef. She will adore it too and it will brighten her day!

Thank you, Becca, for adding dies to your beautiful line. I know I plan to add them to my collection because they are incredible! Blessings!ReplyCancel

Your dies are now and always have been fabulous. Love the new cinch flower. Sure makes flower making easy. Just finished weekend project with my twin granddaughters- painted pumpkins. they painted their pumpkins with faces and then along with bling, jewels, glitter and tons of flowers and greenery, they embellished. Of course, grandma had to come up with the flowers and boy could these dies have saved me some time!!!! Lol. But for 5 year olds, I am amazed at how creative and artistic they are. Pumpkins turned out adorable, and we had fun. However, trying to meet the demands of two kids at the same time was difficult. At times like this, I certainly wish I had a clone. One for each of them.

Birthday Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Timeless Rectangles, Spellbinders Vintage Lace Motifs - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Good morning Friends!  It has been a busy week at my house; roller coaster is a better word.  I’ve been busy with new releases and sharing my discoveries with the Minc Machine but in the background my family is in need of some good news. On a personal note, my little brother is in the ICU fighting for his life.   Every day there is no bad news, is very good news and he’s been hanging on since Saturday.  If you could spare a prayer for Ben, he’s been through so much this year.  I’m okay, but it takes a lot of focus to be deliberate and steady and am thankful that the pressure to be productive has kept me distracted from the hard things.  It’s at times like these that we reflect back to our younger times – and our younger selves. So yes, lots of reflecting and actually good reflecting.

For your comment today, it’s okay to look back – what advice would you give to your younger self?   I have to share this time, so you’ll see I put my thoughts in the first comment.  If you are new to my blog and wonder what Day of Giving Friday is all about  – you can find out more about Day of Giving on my FAQ List at #11.Birthday Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Timeless Rectangles, Spellbinders Vintage Lace Motifs - www.amazingpapergrace.com
The card that I’m giving away today is one of my very favorites – a definite departure from my ‘go to’ cream or pink but rich and sultry with a vintage shade of purple.  I hope you’ll weigh in with my weekly prompt – I look forward to reading and know that others benefit from your wisdom!!   Please check my Giveaway Winners List in the coming days to see if your name is going on the mailing label.  There are a couple of unclaimed cards that still live there.

Well Becca, first and the most important is that prayers from here are going up for Ben and I throw a few in for you to keep you steady.

Every family has trials at one time or another and maybe ongoing ones that seem to want to zap the energy and peace away. Thats when I am reminded there is One who sees the end from the beginning and I can run to. I cannot go back but I can go forward and leave my foolish self with God, all forgiven and restored in Christ. How else in the world can we make it on our own without terrible consequences and the haunting memories of them?ReplyCancel

  • Christine Harrop, Oxfordshire, YUKOctober 23, 2015 - 11:12 am

You, your brother and his family are in my thoughts and prayers Becca. In my mind I am singing a hymn I used to sing in our church choir when I was a teenager and the words stay with me to this day.

“Pray when the storm clouds gather o’er head
    Hiding the light from you,
Filling your soul with darkness and dread,
Pray till the light breaks through.

Just keep on praying till light breaks through
The Lord will answer, will answer you,
God keeps His promise His word is true,
Just keep on praying till light breaks through.”

My advice to my younger self would be to remember God always answers our prayers, it just might not be the answer we want to hear.!

    Love and hugs. Christine xxReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
Will keep Ben and you also in my prayers. Sorry to hear. My advice to my younger self would be to follow the Golden Rule and live your life to the fullest as we are all on borrowed time. Trust in the Lord as he never asks us to take on more than HE knows we can handle. I have followed that for the past 40 years. Beautiful card, slightly different than your normal colors!
    Bless you my friend.

Good Morning Becca. My prayers go out to you for your brother; may his condition improve and may he be fully restored soon and may you and your family be given the strength you need to give him the support he needs during this time. The card you shared with us today is absolutely gorgeous; thank you for brightening our day with your talent. I particularly liked the color combinations you used. As for what advice I’d give my younger self (knowing full well that she would have probably ignored it): nurture friendships and family; work is important but don’t risk your health; eat healthy; and you have the right attitude – “be happy” will turn out to be a movement after all!ReplyCancel

Prayers for your brother and you, Becca.

This hymn immediately came to mind ~ Moment by Moment.

    Chorus:

Moment by moment I’m kept in His love,
    Moment by moment I’ve life from above;
Looking to Jesus ’til glory doth shine,
Moment by moment, O Lord, I am Thine.

The words to the verses are wonderful, too.

Advice to my younger self would be to trust Him through life ~ moment by moment.

Your card is gorgeous, as all of them are! Thank you for the chance to receive it.ReplyCancel

I am so sorry to hear your brother is in ICU. I will be praying for you Ben and your family. I can imagine how stressful this time is but I know God is always in control.
Your card today is quite lovely. I love the vintage look the purple adds. If I could tell my younger self anything, it would be not to tame life too seriously. Growing up, I was a happy child who enjoyed life. As I got older and life responsibilitieshrew, I began to lose my ability to find fun in life. I seem to have allowed the serious side of life to have too strong a presence. I’m definitely learning to put humor back into my daily activities and that’s a good thing!ReplyCancel

My prayers go out to Ben, you and your family. I already know that your brother is surrounded by the love, peace and comfort of God. Prayer certainly helps us feel the strength of that knowing. This morning I am also holding all those affected by Hurricane Patricia in my thoughts and prayers.

It just occurred to me that my advice to my younger self still applies today: “God speaks directly to you, always. It’s your intuition…Listen! Trust what you hear and act on it! And, remember to give THANKS for this precious gift.

What an absolutely beautiful card – I love everything about it! I really enjoyed the cards and tutorials this week. Thank you, Becca, for being the wonderfully generous person you are!

Hi Becca, Your card is unusual in composition and color–always a nice surprise when you do some of the unexpected; however, always exquisite, classic, and appropriate for any recipient. The older I get the more I tend to look back and put things into perspective. Never too late to learn that you can’t go wrong by doing what is right. An old adage that keeps proving itself so true. You are in my prayers concerning Ben and others of your family going through the anxiety and waiting period. May the best outcome be yours. BarbaraReplyCancel

    First of All,

Dear Heavenly Father I lift Ben and his family and Becca up to you give them peace, strength, and comfort. For Ben’s Doctors to have the wisdom and the knowledge and the tools to treat Ben to heal him. We Praise your mighty name God as you are our Healer, Our Comforter, our Dearest Friend. We are thankful that Becca has Ben as her brother. We are Thankful for Becca and all her tenderness, generosity and sweetness and love that she puts into everything she does. We ask these things in the Precious, Mighty Name of Jesus, AMEN

Becca, my heart aches for you at this time as tonight we will be celebrating the memories of my dear father-in-law we lost just 1 year ago this month.

Love the card as it reminds me of my mother’s mother who grew purple irises and now in memory of her I grow irises, too.

What I would tell my younger self:

    1. Stop living to please everyone, you cannot do this as there will always be someone who will be unhappy with you.

    2. Stop regretting your past and stop remembering what God has already forgotten. Let your past make you better not bitter.

    3. Focus on your strengths not your weaknesses but openly admit them when necessary. Keep it real!

    4. Stop looking for love in all the wrong places and people. Go straight to the source of pure love–God Himself.

    5. Build yourself an Encouragement file to keep all things that inspire you and encourage you to be your best self and to stay motivated towards your dreams. But to also be flexible in how you achieve your dreams as God always has something so much better in store for us.

Becca. Please let me know how else I can pray for you {{{hugz}}} ~KarenReplyCancel

God has the plan for us. It is in His hands. Prayers are for Ben, you, and your family. May each of you have the strength to get through this trial with understanding and strength. What advise would I would give my younger self? It would have to be that God is in charge. Take each trial in life as a lesson learned. And learn it well, for God knows what strength one needs in each lesson so as to get through more trials along the way. Growing up, I was caught up in trying to survive and do the best I could. How much easier it would have been to turn over to God the issues I felt where just too much for me to bear while I was trying to make it though the day. God knows best. Bless you sweet Becca. Hugs.

This is a beautiful card. I have this stamp and will grab it when I need to make a sympathy card.

Some time ago I started writing in a journal words of encouragement, joy, positive thoughts, etc. After reading your post today, I picked up my journal looking for something to help you through life’s trials. Here are a few I selected. I hope these might touch you.

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. When life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means it’s going to launch you into something great. So just focus, and keep aiming.

Keep your head up. God gives his hardest BATTLES to his strongest SOLDIERS.

When something bad happens you have three choices. You can:
    o Let it define you
o Let it destroy you, or
o You can let it strengthen you.

The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can’t go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.

Always end the day with a positive thought. No matter how hard things were today, tomorrow’s a fresh opportunity to make it better.

By Dr. Wayne W. Dyer–“Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It’s not your parents, your past relationships, you job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make. Period”

Been sending up prayers for your brother, you, and your family all day today. May God’s love and strength get you through the days ahead.ReplyCancel

    Good morning Becca,
I am sending a prayer up for your brother Ben to pull through this but also for your family for what it is going through which i wouldn’t put my worst enemy through. I can’t relate to your stress of your beloved Ben in ICU because i never got that chance with my twin brother Jim but i do know how it feels, so please wrap your arms around and give yourself the hug that i am sending to you this day flower.
I would tell my younger self not to be so timid and shy but take life’s opportunites with both hands and run with them as you never know where it might lead you to. I also need to tell my older self this to as there is only one time on this earth so to take the chance if only i weren’t such a coward.
Thank you flower for such a gorgeous card that without the sentiment could be so good for all sorts of occasions. Take care dear Becca and your family and i hope that Ben has a turning point soon for you all
    Love and crafty hugs

Bless you Becca, and Bless Ben and all of your Family.
I have prayed for Ben this morning, and I will pray for him every day until he is well again. You are all in my thoughts.
This card is absolutely stunning !!!!! I love everything about it, the colour is fabulous, the papers, the ribbons and pins, everything is stunning, it ‘makes my heart sing’. The person who wins this will be eternally grateful to receive it.
If I had the ability to give my younger self some advice with hindsight, I would tell myself that ‘the grass is not always greener on the other side’. I feel as if I have spent most of my life searching for something (I don’t know what !!) and have made some really stupid decisions. If I could go back, I would definitely make different decisions and maybe my two Sons would still be with me today. I know we can always be wise after the event, but wouldn’t it be lovely if we could go back and change things.
Lots of love from Patricia xxReplyCancel

    Dearest Becca,

Please know that my prayers and those of my Bible Study Class are being offered up for Ben.

My best advice to younger self would be…’don’t be so hard pressed to make everything perfect’. I’ve found that pressure to be perfect takes away from the free flow of ideas and creative engagement. At 77 years of age, I’m so grateful for flexibility in my hands and a calm spirit. Love your inspiration and talent. You have such a gift for words and expression. Thank you for all you do for us!ReplyCancel

I think the advice I’d give to my younger self would be to write down the stories of family. As a young person I had the unique opportunity to sit and talk with my grandparents every week. I wish I had either recorded or written down the stories of their lives as they told them to me. I was so interested in how they grew up and remember certain things but not everything. Also wish I had written down the things my mother shared with me about her growing up years and the things she knew about my dad. I lost my mom about 16 months ago and long to talk to her. I cherish the time spent with my grandparents and with my mom! And you are so right Becca, God is in control. Hallelujah!ReplyCancel

Tutorial by Becca Feeken - How to Use Intricate Dies and Patterned Dies for Mincing - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Hello friends, I’m back with another video to show you how to use intricate dies and patterned dies as the basis for your mincing.  Even if you don’t have a machine you should peek in on this one.  Adding the Minc brings another whole dimension to dies.  Whether it’s a small touch or an entire background, it has a look that is quite unique – polished,  yet unique!!  I have to confess that I’ve been playing with the machine for many months and wanted to blog about it before I started using it on my cards.

Tutorial by Becca Feeken - How to Use Intricate Dies and Patterned Dies for Mincing - www.amazingpapergrace.com
I’m sharing two cards today.  The card above card features  intricate die cuts and makes use of some double borders.  I suggest having a look through your stash to figure out which dies work best as long as there is some defined detail, it’s worth a try to run a copy then minc.  I’ve used Spellbinders Labels Forty Nine along with Spellbinders Floral Ovals and Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large with a detail piece from Spellbinders Swirl Bliss Pocket.  The ‘celebrate’ sentiment is from Spellbinders Phrase Set Two.

Above that is a card that makes use of a pattern die to make a full background.  It ultimately uses Spellbinders Grate Effects for double duty – background and overlay.  I’m using the negative space from the word Hello in Spellbinders Phrase Set One that is mounted onto a hand cut pennant and decorated by Spellbinders Heirloom Oval.

Here’s Part 3 in my 3 Part Minc Series:

After seeing yesterday’s videos, I couldn’t help but wonder just which dies and how intricate you could get with the Minc. Today, you have answered that question and have forever changed how I will look at my dies. Does that mean I should buy more dies? Hmmm….

Seriously, Becca, you truly have opened the world of Minc, increased the way we can use our dies and added more ways to sparkle and shine the world of paper crafting. By sharing your ideas, you have given me the ability to make projects that look more professional. I will always be grateful! I love your cards today, especially the blue and silver, even though I am a gold kind of gal. To say they are stunning would be an understatement and the Minced cross is beautiful!

Thank you for being the person you are, Becca. Blessings always!ReplyCancel

  • RosieOctober 21, 2015 - 7:05 pm

Becca, maybe I missed this but… When you make a copy of the die do you place the die cut side down or do you place the flat side of the die on the copier glass?
    ThanksReplyCancel

    • Becca FeekenOctober 21, 2015 - 8:01 pm

Rosie, it seemed just a tad more tidy to place the flat side down but sometimes with a non-symmetrical die you have to place the cut side down. Cut side down will work but the important thing is to make it so that you can match it up to cut it out.ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
You have opened up a whole new world. I saw the Minc on HSN with Anna Griffin when she brought her’s on the show. I have to admit that these cards of yours are so very beautiful but I am not going to get drawn in on this one, babe! I will just have to go on admiring your cards and hope you have one on a Friday giveaway which I might win! LOL. I truly loved all three you have shown. Bless you always.

Ann, you make me smile! Duly noted, I sure can’t blame you for limiting your exposure. I have a similar list of roads I’m not going to go down. This isn’t one of them tho, ha-ha. I decided to do a video series, not to talk anyone into buying, but so that once I get into the swing of using it on my cards, the questions have all been handled in advance. Some will want to do this manually . . . I’m definitely a creature of convenience tho’ – I’ll be using this often.ReplyCancel

  • Joni StinekingOctober 21, 2015 - 8:21 pm

Checking wallet….nope, not yet. Not only do I need the Minc machine, I need a laser printer. Sigh. Someday soon

I do have a question. Do you have problems sending 80# paper through your printer? I don’t always have such good luck with that.

Thanks, Becca of great tutorials on using this new tool!

    • SuzzieQOctober 21, 2015 - 8:42 pm

Please be careful with feeding your printer with 80lb card stock. I broke my laser printer using 80lb. It would take 60lb just fine, but not the 80lb.ReplyCancel

    • Becca FeekenOctober 22, 2015 - 12:43 am

I don’t have any problem with 80# but forget 110# – it jams every time. I’d sure take a piece of cardstock to the store and try it out before I purchased. I have an old, old Canon laser printer and it’s a workhorse. I’ve probably had it for 8 years.ReplyCancel

    Hello Rebecca…
This machine is wonderful but i have a question for you…I don’t understand how to create the black image of dies that i have seen in your beautiful videos…waiting for a kind answer regards AdaReplyCancel

    • Becca FeekenOctober 22, 2015 - 7:57 am

Hi Ada, you get the black image by going to your copy machine, placing die on glass and making a copy of the die. I have a laser printer/scanner that is much like a copy machine so I simply lift the cover, place the die on the scanner glass and hit go. That will produce a black and white replication of the die with toner based ink.ReplyCancel

I do not have the large minc machine, but I did buy the Anna Griffin minc. Figured it was large enough for cards and embellishments. I love it and I love the three videos you have done using my favorite Spellbinder dies. I do have a question for you and I see that no one has asked this question so far, but of course you know that I would be the one who had to ask. LOL. What laser printer do you use. I know you said that it has the scan function as well and how heavy of card stock will it accept??????? Like most, I have an ink jet printer, but now that I am incorporating mincing in so many of my projects, it is time to invest in a hopefully not toooo expensive laser printer. I figured you would know. Thanks, MarcieReplyCancel
