Christmas Card making ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design We Are Like Snowflakes and Spellbinders 5 x 7 Holly Frame - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Hi there blog friends!  I’m back, it was great to a catch up on real life after so much fun in July.  Congratulations – we had a winner for the Artisan Explorer offered for the Grand Finale (see giveaway page) and it will be on it’s way this week.  Thanks to all for playing along!

This week I ventured out and as you can imagine, the craft stores are getting ready for Christmas – I love it when they start bringing everything out and I start dreaming of what my Christmas decorations will look like this year. Well, it was enough to inspire me to pull out new dies and make a Christmas Card using Quietfire Design – We Are Like Snowflakes. I’m Using Spellbinders 5 x 7 Holly Frame that I cut and also stenciled.  Inside the frame created I layered Spellbinders A2 Divine Eloquence and Spellbinders Labels Four. Are you a fan of Spellbinders Layered Poinsettia?  I was tickled to see a miniature version of that die as a part of the 5 x 7 Holly Frame set – and it can be styled the same way as the larger version – I used my teensy tiny poinsettia on top of the bow.

I say this all with a smile on my face and my tongue in my cheek…but I will not, I repeat, WILL NOT start Christmas cards until October!
But feel free to share your lovely Christmas cards cause they are so lovely

Ooh, first Christmas card! Now we all have to get busy! Pretty holly frame…wish they did that in an A2 size. What is the print paper you are using? It always looks so neat and just right when you use it.

I giggled…you have a typo you may want to fix. I didn’t see it in the first read…but I’m pretty sure you meant tickled about that sweet tiny poinsettia. Now I have to decide if buying the frame set is worth it for that and cutting down the frame size. It probably is! Nice to see the blog announcement again this morning. I was having withdrawals!

    good morning Becca,
Our first delight of the Christmas season from you is so beautiful and i like you LOVE poinsettia’s and being able to use them. The SB Holly frame set is beautiful and great the fact that it has 4 each of the smaller parts that you normally need to make the desired finished item. The My Minds Eye paper that you used is so pretty cut with the die and stencilled through with the ink and the little rhinestones in the middle of the holly and flowers just set it off prefectly. I am glad that you had as good a time putting up your works of art as we had seeing them.

The vintage card is so different than what I usually see you make. It is beautiful and I love the lace and flowers you used. I also like the different layering. The biggest thing I have learned about crafting is I don’t need it all. It is rather hard when the new things come out and it is really hard to pass up. If I had to start again I would just have my must have and not bother with all the other stuff. Can’t pass up the Spellbinders especially when I see them on your cards then I MUST buy it. Thanks for all your sharing.ReplyCancel

I love your card today as I do all the ones you design. I love flowers, butterflies, and lace and vintage things and
this card has all those elements so what’s not to like!
The thing I have learned from crafting is to make things that you like in the color, style, etc. that you prefer and don’t worry about what others think. As long as you like it and have enjoyed making it that is what crafting is all about.ReplyCancel

Introducing New Spellbinders Dies by Becca Feeken - Cascading Grace Pocket coming September 15, 2015 - www.amazingpapergrace.comHey there!  Today is the Grand Finale of 30 Days of Giving.  This is going to be kind of a long post so grab some coffee and let’s chat.  If you’re here for the giveaway, dive right the bottom of the post ;-)

A little sneak peek.
First of all, I want you all to be the first to get a peek at a new die that I’ll have debuting on September 15th. Introducing Cascading Grace Pocket, one of eight new Spellbinders Dies designed by me.  Given the opportunity to spread my designing wings this new collection is classic, elegant and fun. Can all of that go together in the same description?   Well, yes it can!

So let me be a little honest with you.
When you purchase a die that I’ve designed, I actually make small percentage of the sale.  No, I’m not gonna be rich, but the monies go to offset the cost that it takes to run the server and services that keeps Amazingpapergrace.com up and running as well as safe and sound.  When I began I never realized what comes with growing a large site.  It’s a blessing in many respects but the monthly out of pocket expense for me is a couple of hundred dollars.  I’m not comfortable asking for donations – I’d much rather earn my own way, but I am comfortable asking that if you have a crafting budget, if you can, please consider supporting www.amazingpapergrace.com with a purchase of any licensed product I design.  And one more thing – so often I get emails asking how you can help – for any blogger that gives you something of value to add to your tool arsenal or ongoing knowledge, please click on their site, visit once a day and subscribe by email.  The greatest gift you can give is by keeping them strong with the favor of your visit.  Ok, that was me being very brave. Let me remind you, here at amazingpapergrace you are never obligated to leave a comment, make a purchase or even visit but if I’ve given you anything that helps in your crafty journey, I’ll gladly accept any support that helps me continue to run this site in the manner that’s been placed upon my heart.  Like Forrest Gump says, and that’s all I have to say about that.

30 Days of Giving Lives On.
When I look at comments I typically see the same names over and over – those are the regulars that come by every day.  I love that so many who come every day were able to win and ultimately I’d like to see everyone win.  I’m going to keep the days of giving going by offering a card every Friday and a thoughtful question to stir your minds and bring to the surface saving the handwritten word, handmade and the kind giving traditions that are special about this community.  What made me decide this?  Read all the comments from Day 30 – I read through them tearily as did many of you.

Finally, the Grand Finale.
Grand Finale – 30 Days of Giving – yes, that’s today.  Listen, it wasn’t just me giving it was you giving too!   Over the last month of reading comments, laughing, crying and riveted by the stories, I knew today would come.

August 4, 2015 Giveaway on www.amazingpapergrace.com

So today I thought I’d cap off by giving away a little friend of mine.  I have one on my desk just like it!  It’s one of my favorite machines – I give away a couple these every year.  Welp, just like some of the dies used for cards that were made a year ago – products move on as new things replace them.  This little guy will soon become rare so I wanted to be sure to have a giveaway while plates and such can still be found.    Open to all, to win a brand ew Artisan Explorer simply leave a comment on this post any time between today and midnight (Central US Time) on August 3 to win.  In your comment let me know one of your favorite days of the 30 Days of Giving and why – was it the card, the other comments, what it stirred in you to write in your comment?  As always, you can leave one comment per day.  A winner will be posted to the Giveaway Page on August 4th.  Please check back and send me your address if it is you.  I’ll give the winner a week (7 full days) to claim their prize sending their address.  If not claimed, the prize will be offered at a later date.
post-header-bottom

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.  This Giving Event has been on my heart for a long time – I was just afraid to do it (hmmm – this sure ties back to card on Day 30).  I didn’t know if anyone would really care or if I would have the time to show up every day to tend to the little things.  Well it must have been meant to be because everything aligned perfectly for a lovely experience.   Thank you, it’s the readers here that make things work :-)

My favorite day was when you asked about handwriting. Penmanship was one of my favorite classes in school. Too bad they don’t teach it anymore. Even today, people say I have beautiful handwriting.
Thank you Becca for 30 days of beautiful cards and lots of interesting subjects to comment on. Thank you for your generosity in giving all these cards. xxxReplyCancel

I have enjoyed being part of your giveaway. It is so hot here in Spain at the moment I am doing little crafting. The question that really stirred my heart was about what do I do everyday that is creative…..and I realised too many days go by with work or other distractions. Thank you for reminding me how important it is for me to allow myself time to create xxxxxReplyCancel

Favorite thing about the 30 days of giving? I think the Introspection. It’s great to get caught up in a project, but to look back and reflect on your rational and then the happiness that the receiver gained. It made me smile. Thanks for putting the effort in Becca!ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca
This is very hard to pick one because ALL your cards are stunning
But the one that sticks out is the one about I’m not afraid of the storm as I said made me laugh because my granddaughter had mentioned it earlier that day about her gang-gangs being frightened of storms.

    Good Morning, Becca,
Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful endeavor! Being able to express yourself with people who have similar values is therapeutic – a type of encouragement that we are many who love the joys of creativity and the gift of giving! Truthfully the last card spoke to my heart. On my work desk I have a sister quote which says, “We cannot direct the WIND, but we CAN adjust our SAILS” GOD is in control of my life. I choose NOT to captain my own ship – it is my choice. I choose to take the position of ‘second mate’ :) I have turned the helm over to HIM, and I try to follow HIS orders. HOWEVER, I am responsible for my attitude – that’s a big portion of my sail adjustment!!! :)It’s a big job!!! Attitude is EVERYTHING~~ :) I’ve had my share of brokenness, disappointment, and sorrow but I choose not to focus there. My life is rich with blessings of family, extended family, and friends. I count you as a new friend, and am happy to have this opportunity to be a part of your world! May God richly bless you as you encourage, and inspire those He places in your path.ReplyCancel

Hello Becca: I enjoyed this past 30 days of your amazing cards, although I couldn’t comment on each and every post, due to job and family obligations, I delighted in seeing your cards and each time I left a comment, I always hopped to be the winner. I didn’t win but that is ok. Now you will continue with giving away your amazing works of art plus this incredible machine so, to answer your question for today…..I loved each one of your cards, I couldn’t pick a favorite but, the question that really impacted me was yesterday’s. You asked “How are you learning to stir your ship?” I said that in my life, there have been some really rough and stormy days when my little ship has been tossed around mercilessly but, in the end, I’ve come out of this storms to enjoy clear and beautiful skies.
Right now I’m navigating some rough seas, I’m taking care of my 91 year old mother who suffers from Dementia and it’s been a very difficult and at times, awful, 3 and a half years. My husband of almost 42 years and one of my daughters (who lives next door) help me a lot but most of the time, I’m dealing with this alone.
Thank you again for the chance to win your generous prices and for sharing what you love with us.
    Many hugs.
    Maria.ReplyCancel

I think Day 18 was my favorite. Of course, the card was gorgeous but I could truthfully say that about all of your cards. What really struck me on that day was the quote on the card and the question about how we have brought friends and family into our love of crafting. This made me think back on all the good times I’ve had crafting with friends and sharing the knowledge I’ve picked up by surfing the internet and visiting blogs like yours. But what means even more to me is the time our daughter and I have spent together crafting. I also treasure the time it’s given me to spend with our daughter-in-law and get to know her better. She’s a wonderful addition to our family and I truly treasure her. So Day 18….yeah, that was a good one.ReplyCancel

BECCA, I LOVE YOUR DESIGNS. They are always my first choice over any other designs. I am glad I can support you that way. I showed my mom your designs this last weekend. She does not make cards, but she is and has always been creative. I even show Mr. Car your designs. He resonated with the post from a few years ago about John’s service, it was a 4th of July post. My heart was overjoyed when you sought after and was able to find your lost dog. I don’t have time to follow too many designers. You are one of 4, and I have followed you are the one I check for new posts first. Have a good rest of the summer. Yours will continue longer than mine. :)ReplyCancel

Well a sad day that the 30 days of giving has come to an end – but I can’t believe how generous you are in that you are going to continue it on a weekly basis. Becca, you simply are amazing! Day 13 meant the most to me because the text was “Praying For You” and that was the day I really need prayer. No coincidences in God’s sight! Mostly though I have so enjoyed reading the comments. I actually kept going back to read the ones that came in after I left my own. Some were funny, some straight forward but some were heart breaking – and that’s when I prayed for them! So thank you for all you have done and continue to do! Hugs Christine xxReplyCancel

Hi Becca. You set us a tall order to choose a favourite from the past month’s selection. Words of wisdom, luscious bows – and that is before we go on to fabulous layering using superbly crafted die cuts – each and every one beautiful & meaningful in their own way.
A particular favourite though is the card shown on day 21 with the message ‘ A smile that you send out returns to you’. Such a pretty use of the diagonal ribbon to highlight the die cuts and a stamp with a sentiment which surely echoes the pretty cards you share on this blog. Each card a ‘smile’ passed on to another.
Wishing you well and success with the new range of dies coming out soon. They look wonderful and will be a success I am sure.ReplyCancel

Great to see you designing more dies, but I’m STILL waiting for a published book by you! You could do an annual year book, and just think about all the royalties you’d get! And your loyal followers would want to buy it annually so they would have the complete set. And eventually, we would have an entire collection of yearbooks. Becca, I can’t even begin to tell you how much I admire you; your talent is beyond belief. Yours is the one email that I open every day and when I am wanting to make a beautiful card, I head to your site for ideas. It’s rather surprising, and kind of sad for me, to hear that you ever question yourself or wonder if anyone really cares about your work. I, for one, would pay to subscribe to your site, and I’m sorry to say, that it never really occurred to me how much your gift to all of us costs you in real dollars. I will happily buy your dies, and I hope you get much more than a small profit from your sales. As for my favorite card during the past 30 days, I am so drawn to Day 23. I love the color combination. In some respects for me, this is a very sad day. I have soooo enjoyed my daily visits to your blog this month & checking out your thought provoking “question of the day”. (I am a regular visitor anyway. I LOVE seeing your creations!) So, since this is the last day, I am sad. ?
To ask me which day was my favorite is a difficult question. An easy answer would be to say the day I was lucky enough to win one of your cards. And that truly was a mind-blowing day for me!
But in actuality, I would have to say that each & every day was special & a favorite for different reasons. Some days your cards just took my breath away & I would just stare at it for many minutes, studying it in detail. And some days were my favorite for the questions you asked. They made me think, wonder, remember, & chuckle, cry, laugh, smile when I read some of the other answers. What fun it has been!
My answer to today’s question is the entire month has been my favorite day! And for this I thank you from the bottom of my heart. It truly has been a remarkable time. And I am so very greatful for being able to own one of your beautiful cards. I shall look at it every day. It sits on my shelf where I can easily see it from my desk.
Congratulations on your new release! I will be happy to help support your work by purchasing another one of your gorgeous dies!ReplyCancel

  • Judy CoveyJuly 31, 2015 - 9:26 am

I’m not sure which day it was Becca, but the question was something like: what handmade card or item stirred your soul, and I’m pretty sure that my answer was being given a hand crocheted bedspread that my grandmother made, handed down to me by one of my uncles. Thank you so much for offering such a wonderful prize and it was so much fun to play along each day throughout the month of July answering all your questions and viewing “again” the beautiful cards that you had made in the past.ReplyCancel

  • Kathy Jo WoodJuly 31, 2015 - 9:27 am

Becca- thank you for the 30 days of your inspiration. It has been an enjoyable month seeing your beautiful creations and reading your posts. You have helped promote the written word and the art of caring, compassion, hope, joy, love, and friendship. What a great month!
My favorite card is the card you shared on Day 19- Quietfire’s Friendship isn’t a big thing. I chose that for many reasons. The two biggest reasons: I love the sentiment (one of my favorite QF stamps) and because it is a perfect example of what you do. You took dies and showed the versatility of the dies. I never would have thought of die cutting the center out of the Majestic Oval. Your creativity promotes creativity in your readers.
I look forward to shopping at your online store and seeing your new releases!
Thank you again for all that you do! Love and crafty hugs!ReplyCancel

I simply could not name a favorite day out of 30! There were so many days that I loved so much, wait, come to think of it, there was a day set apart from the rest!!! It was day 30, and it was because of the quote by Louisa May Alcott. The quote on learning to sail your own ship, was one I will remember. I wrote it down and will use it! I came to this late – and really hated that I’d missed so many beautiful cards. Day 26 was a beautiful card. The blue was muted and the whole card is elegant. The sentiment is so appropriate – oftentimes we’re talking to somebody and you can tell they are zoned out.
I’ve been crafty all of my life but it seems to have passed my daughter. She does make greeting cards but has no interest in trying any of the other crafts that I’ve done through the years.
The granddaughter seems to be more crafty but she’s still a work in progress (even though she’s almost 30).

I have, like so many others, enjoyed seeing your beautiful cards, the comments, and sharing a peek into so many of the lives of fellow card crafters. Picking a favorite is so very difficult as they are all so beautiful in their own way. The bows & color combinations on Days 5 & 27, the design layout on Day 15, and the saying on Day 16 are definately a few of my favorites! Becca, I’m not sure which Day card is my favorite because they are all my favorites. Day 30 I distinctly remember because of all the lacey looks/cut outs and especially the text. Thank you for doing the 30 days of cards and am anxious to see your own die cuts in the future. RosieReplyCancel

Hi Becca. Today’s comment ‘task’ is the most difficult one of the whole 30 days! Each and every one of your cards cannot be faulted in any way, shape or form – they are all deserved of being a favourite! You are one amazing person and the title of your website is very apt. In my opinion, your new website is by far the best craft website I have ever come across. The last 30 days has been a delight and, on behalf of the whole craft world (if I may be so presumptuous!) I would like to say a huge thank you to you for bringing us some amazingly designed dies, the latest being no exception. I hope Spellbinders appreciate what a great treasure and asset they have in you. Thank you too for your generosity in these giveaways. May you continue to go from strength to strength. I look forward to each and every one of your blogs. Very best wishes

I’ve enjoyed so much your offerings over the past 31 days, Becca. And I’m thrilled to be able to use some of then as samples for card classes I will be having soon. My favorite? Actually, it’s yesterday’s card. “I am no afraid of storms.” Love it both for the beautify of it, and definitely for the verse. Don’t wait too long before you start posting; but in the meantime you need a (short) break. ;)ReplyCancel

I’m glad to hear you do receive a return on the sale of your dies, I didn’t release that was so. The dies are beautiful & so well designed. It adds to my joy in using them to know that you will receive something from me, albeit small, in return.ReplyCancel

My favorite part of this 30 Days of Giving was the overall collection that someone cared about me and what I thought. This month has been one of deep reflection and sharing on my part due to your question each day. Doing so made me realize just how much I had stifled my memories and emotions in the name of “self-preservation” so I could make it through another day for almost thirteen years. As I made my comment to your questions, a heavy weight of emotion was lifted from my soul bringing me back into today’s world and letting go of years of being a caregiver. You asked, I wrote, and you listened. Reflecting back on “how, when, and where” has helped me to find “me” again for I was “lost”. Thank you for caring.

This month’s journey with you has been amazing. I can not just choose only “ONE” favorite of anything. So, in addition to how your questions made me feel, I will add some of my favorite cards and why:

Colors: Pink & White cards: “You Brighten My Day”; “Hum of Bees”, day 28 – this is the one I won!

Colors: Lavender & White cards: “Rest & Recuperate”, day 6; “Friendship is Found”, day 29.

Original placement of ribbon: “A Smile You Send”, day 21

Most moving sentiment: “Friends Wait to Hear”, day 26
    *************
I am so glad you informed your viewers how we can help Amazing Paper Grace. I will be buying some of your dies to help support your efforts.

    God Bless You Becca!ReplyCancel

  • LisaericaJuly 31, 2015 - 11:09 am

    Becca,
To answer your question, all your cards are beautiful and thoughtful but I’d have to say it was a combination between day 30’s card sentiment and reading all the other comments. Sometimes when your trying to navigate through your own sorrows it feels like your alone, that no one feels or understands what your going through. After reading everyone’s comments you realize your not alone, everyone is going through something. Weither we’re dealing with a loss, depression, health issues or even financial burdens we’re not alone. That’s something I love about this hobby, I’ve met some wonderful, caring friends. This hobby is about trying to brighten someone’s day, letting them you care, making them feel special. That’s an awesome hobby, it’s not about who wins or who comes in first place, it’s about making something beatiful and letting someone know their important to you.ReplyCancel

Well, you took a deep breath, and just set sail, now didn’t you? And you know, you always have had a friendly tone to your voice, but there is something new and different about it now…do you hear and feel it? There is a new depth and richness to it…and as I read through the response, I could hear it in your readers, and myself, too. A readership has become more of a community…hmmm..a FB group next?

Love the sneak peek of your dies…and thanks for being brave end ugh to tell us what you need. Bet it took another deep breath to push send on that one, huh? Glad you did.

Favorite card…oh, usually the last one I saw…and true today. Yesterday’s sentiment just settled deep within and is hanging out in my soul, so I think it must have been one I needed to hear. Thanks you again for this month. You precipitated more than you will ever know.ReplyCancel

Pick one day out of 30 days, R-E-A-L-L-Y there is NO WAY I can do that. . . every day, every card was stunning, gorgeous and filled with love and gorgeous embellishments, then to top off each day your questions stirred so many thoughts, insights and just made me think so deeply, to take a look at why I craft and why I send cards. BUT most of all it has been great to read others postings and know that there truly is a love for crafting and to keep the “written word” out there going around our world.
Your blog is a Blessing to me somedays when life and stress have hit the maximum level, I turn to your blog for the peacefulness, gorgeous visuals and the most thoughtful ‘written word’. I am thankful you blog, thankful your create gorgeous dies, (I shall be broke around Sept. 15th) and hope life continues to Bless you, your family and the future of your crafting world!ReplyCancel

    Becca,

Congratulations on the opportunity to spread your wings in a new endeavor! Your talent and creativity is in a class of its own, and I know you will design amazing dies and cards. We are all in for a treat!

It has been so much fun to reflect on the questions you have posed and to read others’ replies. Thank you again for “going public” with your art! It would be an incredible blessing to have you for a neighbor or to share the same church, but you have offered that type of aquaintance to so many through your blog.

Over the years, I have enjoyed many different crafting experiences, but scrapbooking was my passion. I didn’t even know what a blog was when I found APG, but it’s now a bookmarked place that I visit often. Usually, I ooh and aah over your cards…..it’s kind of like visiting a department store and taking a stroll through the formal wear department. Your cards are dreamy and delightful just like a special occasion dress…whether I can make ones like them or not doesn’t matter. It is fun to admire and to be inspired.

Thank you for your part in my crafting journey. I value the written word and handmade gifts, and the month of July has inspired a a school project for my fourth grade students.

Be blessed in your new paths!ReplyCancel

  • Joanne LoweJuly 31, 2015 - 11:21 am

Thanks so much, Becca by knowing how we can give back to you. I have already bought so many of your dies and sets and kits (plus your bow-maker). Likely there are others who have every single item, but I have most. I do wish you’d make more as a designer, but thank you for letting everyone know how to help you out–I think it was wonderful to explain how it all works. You did it in such a manner of such integrity, and I would not expect any less from you to be honest.

If it becomes more of an issue, please consider having some of your most dedicated subscribers set up some sort of a regular fundraiser to off-set the cost of your site. I don’t think anyone would ever want you to have to pay to give us this wonderful service, Becca! And I do have a feeling a number of your most dedicated subscribers would probably line up for the honor of helping organize some fundraisers for Amazing Paper Grace. Just give the call, and I think you will be touched by the tangible evidence of the love and support we all want to give to you.

For some time, I have wanted to start my own tiny blog, and I do mean tiny. I’m on a disability income, so I couldn’t pay to run one, and this I hope won’t stop me from finding a way to have my own. I’d want mine to be about my card-making, my journey to eat and live healthier, and my spiritual walk too as I endeavor to have a closer relationship with my Savior. Physical issues keep me from making many more of the cards that I’d love to create, but it’s such a joy when I can create one, and I’ve improved so much–and have so much still to learn. I have enjoyed meeting such amazing women in this crafting area, and this is my first crafting experience ever. Previously I was much too busy to even think of crafting before my car accident, I was a classical musician who worked full-time as a university professor and I absolutely LOVED performing and teaching, to me it was a dream come true to be living this life. Then all too quickly it ended, or at least I had to take a leave of absence to find answers to be able to return to the work I love, and it turned out that the injuries were too great, too complex, and I will not ever be able to return. I’m grateful for this artistic outlet of card-making, it’s completely different and I don’t have the ability or background of a lifetime I had in music, nor does it give to me the same outlet, but it’s one none the same, and likely that outlet will grow as I’m able to make more and hopefully start that blog. First, a name… :) All to say that I hope that having my own little tiny blog will help me steer my ship in a better way…

Thanks again for the 30 days, I wrote for most–when I could. I’m so glad to hear you are going to continue this on a weekly basis, it would be such an honor to win one of your cards someday! Your blog was one of the very first (as I’ve already mentioned) that I subscribed and followed, it may have been THE first, likely one of the first, and one I’ve kept even though my style and my needs have changed along the way and have let some of my subscriptions go in order to look at others that are more helpful to me now. But I continue to learn and grow from what I see you post, and also I appreciate what you say as well as the cards and other projects you post.

It is my hope and my prayer that you will never have to again pay to keep your blog going once a group of subscribers get together and find some ways of fundraising if you need that help. What you give us is a wonderful service, and you should not have to pay to give to all of us. That really shocked me, as did the financial realities of what you do. So if you are OK with having some help, I’d consider putting out a call to have a group that would be like your fundraisers for a lack of a better term. I do think that you will be flooded with applications for this position. My health concerns would not allow me to take a front position, but I’d definitely would be willing to help whenever I can, that would be an honor. What do others think? I really hope I haven’t spoken out of turn, that is not at all my intent, only to be a support to you, Becca. If this isn’t what you’d want, then no problem, just disregard and I understand completely. Just know that I appreciate all of your cards, tutorials, and words of wisdom–I value all of these so very much!!! I know that God will guide you, all you need to do is ask Him…

    Blessings and hugs,

    JoanneReplyCancel

    • Kim GJuly 31, 2015 - 4:53 pm

Hi Joanne, you wrote a lovely comment to Becca and mentioned about possibly starting your own blog. You can get a free blog with WordPress and with Blogger. Each one offers free simple templates for the way a site would look (not sure how technical you are and if this makes sense), but if you do a search at google, yahoo or bing for “Free WordPress” or “Free Blogger” websites, you will find lots of information and won’t have to pay anything. The costs come when you want your own url (like amazingpapergrace.com) and various other attributes that got with maintaining and creating a website. I would suggest using WordPress versus Blogger as it is easier. If you would like to learn more, I would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have. You can email me at txkickerbelle at gmail dot com. I have used both Blogger and WordPress, so I know both of them fairly well.

Sorry Becca that I took up a spot on your comments, but was pulled to reply to Joanne and maybe help her out.ReplyCancel

    • Becca FeekenJuly 31, 2015 - 10:22 pm

Hugs for your kind words Joanne. I feel really strongly that the site will always be free. No fundraising necessary – I’ll continue to work to fund it, just ask for support in the way of an occasional visit and support for products if they tickle your fancy. Those things will help amazingpapergrace into the future.

I hope you do start a blog. As Kim mentioned, there are so many that are free. The only time you’ll get into a cost is with a large size and private domain.

Best wishes! Let me know when you start your blog :-)ReplyCancel

The whole concept of thinking about the ‘why’ of doing papoercrafting more than the “how” was something I really needed. We get so immersed in techniques and products that we lose track of what an impact giving has on both the recipient and the giver.

    Hello Becca,
You do so much for us with your wonderful blog. You have a God given talent and the fact that you share it with us is a blessing.
July 17 spoke to me directly through the verse. My brother died suddenly and unexpectedly earlier this month and the shock has been enormous to his family and to me. We called ourselves “The Orphans” as we were the last two of our family. His wife, children and I cannot believe that we will never see him again in this life but the verse of your card, starting “Now God be praised” is so true because I am a true believer in Life after Death.

WOUW you are soooo generous once again Becca, you really goes all the way, when you do things. After reading todays post, I´m even more glad, that I´ve asked my lovcal craftshop to get your other dies in stock over here, and already ordered one of each, even she was a little scared if she could sell the amount, she hadd to take in, but I convinced her, as I promissed her to make some ideacards for her, when I got mine, so I just hope, they´ll get here soon. Maybe it´ll be okay with you to share some of your lovely pictures here with her too, so she can show people how gorgeous they all are? I wount do unlwess it´s okay with you ofcause.
I can´t pick one favorite among this months cards, cause there´s sooo many, but yesterdays and all you´ve made in white and gold and there was a light blue one early on too, that I was really crazy about, but unfortunately I haven´t been one of the lucky ones to win this month, no matter how much I´ve crossed everything, but ofcause I can see, there´s many, who wants to be chosen too ha ha ha.
I hope, you´ll have a wonderful week-end now and lots of great fun too, and I can´t wait to see all the new dies, when they copme out too, and I promisse, I´ll do my part to make them known in my part of the world, as I really love them.ReplyCancel

Miss Becca. What a joy and delight you are. Your generosity is exceeded only by your sweetness and kindness. Your 30 Days Of Giving have been more enjoyable than anything I’ve ever experienced on anyone’s blog. I personally found yesterday’s comments more difficult to read as so many, like yourself, have suffered terrible grievous loss and have persevered.

I want you to know I have all of the dies, bow maker, etc., that you have designed. It is my delight to support your wonderful site. I wish I could do more! But I confess if you feature a die or other product, I find myself eager to buy it also because I so love everything you create. Sadly, the things I create are not ever as gorgeous as yours, but I can dream…..ReplyCancel

Have enjoyed your 30 days of lovely cards, think my favourite was Day 27 although very hard to pick which was top of my list. Was interested to hear you need to have people visit your site and buy your products to make enough money to run your site. Although I visit your site often and have bought various Spellbinders dies, I never felt the need to leave a comment, however if that is what it takes to keep your site going I will be a little more chatty from now on.

Becca, I am so glad you were BRAVE by letting us know about the cost of keeping your site and server and web functionality alive for us! You fight for the purity and truth in your design, words, art, and in so doing, you fight for us too! By being brave and honest, you help us to be brave and honest in our communication too! I can’t wait to purchase your new dies from you! Thank you!ReplyCancel

Of course the best day and card was the one I won and thank you again. It will always be a treasure. I commented because of the gifts you were giving us in the card. Then I received my card and noticed the postage for sending it was $3 adding more of a gift. I also enjoyed the Christian comments from many of the people and from you as well. Sharing our love of cards of great but knowing many of us share in believing in Jesus is comforting. May God continue to bless you.ReplyCancel

I have so enjoyed the 30-day giveaway. I think the best day was when you asked us to admit if we were hoarders or not and what specifically we hoarded. It made me realize how much I love buying paper, but then never want to use it up. I just want to hang on to it for that just-right project.ReplyCancel

I cannot possibly pick a favorite. Every day had something wonderful. Maybe it was the card or the sentiment. Quite often it was your words or the responses. I have been laughing, tearful, in awe, inspired…I have learned to look at dies differently. And today, I learned a little about blogs. I have often stopped by and looked, but only recently subscribed. Since these 30 days started, I have not missed a day. Now that I know the value of being a regular, I will be sure to stop by every day. Thanks again for sharing what you do so well.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca, It was Day 13 using the Spellbinders’s Gold Elements corners that appealed to me most, though one card is prettier than the next and each card always has something different to notice and teach–just can’t remember all the lessons learned as I would like. Thanks for the info about subscribing. Didn’t know that made any difference because I check your site each morning. Also if we can buy the dies directly from you, I would be glad to do so even if it wouldn’t be the cheapest price in town. You certainly have earned a financial perk as well as recognition and love from your followers. BarbaraReplyCancel

I received my card today. My husband thought it was beautiful and you already know what I think of your creations. Thank you, again.

Thank you for a beautiful month. It was fun to read some of the other paper crafter’s comments. I didn’t get to read all of them. Some you have to cry with. I have to say that day 23 about journaling was my favorite.

Hopefully we can all give back a little to each other with random acts of kindness. I hope we can support you in some way or another.ReplyCancel

I loved the comments left and I am thrilled that I WON a card (day 26) from you!!! I am so glad that you will continue to do this every Friday. I have purchased some of your dies and love the look of this one and I am sure I will love the future ones coming out too. I didn’t comment every day cause sometimes I just didn’t have an answer. I scan everyone’s comments too. I don’t think I have a favorite day or a favorite card cause I loved them all. Thank you for sharing your life, cards and adventures with us. Hopefully I can start buying some of your dies to use in my cuttlebug.ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
I look at your blog almost everyday. Your cards are so beautiful! You are really an inspiration to me. I absolutely love all the cards you make so its always hard to pick a favorite one. I didn’t realize how important it was to comment on the blogs I follow everyday until I just read what you had posted today. I will definitely be more productive in commenting as I see now that it is important to each one of you who have a blog! I have to say you make the most STUNNING bows and I would just love to learn how to create bows like this. Can you provide any tutorial for them? I would also like to know if you would mind sharing with me/us where I could purchase the Neenah classic white paper you use? I can’t seem to locate it.

Keep those beautiful cards coming the are TRULY AMAZING!

I am so sorry I missed yesterday’s Card (Day 30), but I was in just too much pain with my spine and neck and feet to be at my computer or even on my tablet.

However, it would seem that that is my most favorite card out of the 30 Days of Giving. Not only because it is delicate and lacy like I love but, because it fits my current situation: You see, for 37 years I have let my Complex PTSD dominate my life (From Age 6 to age 43) and keep me from living my dreams. The Fear was draining! But No Longer, I started the process to get Treatment for my Complex PTSD and Depression.

So please keep me in your prayers and also that I can follow the dream of running my Crafting blog like I really want to do.

I sure hope I can win the Cutting and Embossing machine because it would relieve so much pain in my hands and arms and I could get Card Making again! But I know that all your drawings are Fair :o). But if I do not win would anyone be willing to cut dies and emboss papers for me? Pretty Please?ReplyCancel

  • Adaline CooperJuly 31, 2015 - 2:47 pm

Becca, I really enjoyed the 30 days of giving. To me the best was when you asked what type of cards do you send out most. Birthday cards were the most I sent out before, but seeing you friendship cards enlightened me that the friendship card will do a lot to lift someone up. You never know what kind of day they have had and this way they can get more than one card a year or wait for their birthday or Christmas. I will be sending out more friendship cards after seeing your cards. Thanks so much for the enlightenment.ReplyCancel

The time and effort that you put into your cards and your heartfelt desire to share with others is such a wonderful thing. My favourite Becca is you!ReplyCancel

I’ve surprised myself by getting so engrossed in your month long historic essay. I’ve actually enjoyed reading everyone’s comments and it even got me to sit and think awhile about your daily question, some so simple but thought provoking. It also gave me another chance to enjoy your ‘older’ cards again. I thank you for sharing your cards and life with all of us. Most definitely, any venture can be costly and you have to rethink your expenditures and put things into perspective…..BUT you seem to be like me in that my love experience with card making and what it does for me emotionally and spiritually certainly out weights all expenses and I seek other ways to continue with this adventure. Again, thank you for being Becca. The question that cut to my heart the most was about ‘flying’ and what it has done for me and where it is leading me. Aloha.ReplyCancel

I must have hit a button by mistake, too early. I like the look of your new dies, these will be a lovely addition to my collection.
I had started to tell you why I particularly loved day 30’s card. I was reminded of the difficult time 2 years ago, we prayed for God to help our daughter return to us while she was critically ill, and on life support.
    I have a beautiful book that belonged to my grandmother called “The Seasons” by Louis Lawrence. In this, there is a poem “My Father’s at the Helm” I’ve quoted a few lines below;
It tells the story of a ship in a terrible storm, a frightened crew and a wee boy, the captain’s son, “Who steadfast viewed the storm; and fearless with composure smiled at danger’s threatening form”.
“And fear’s thou not, a seaman cried, while terrors overwhelm”
“Why should I fear? My father’s at the helm”
“Thus when our worldly hopes are left and our earthly comforts gone, we still have one sure anchor left,- God helps and He alone.”
” Turn to Him mid terrors wild, When sorrows overwhelm, Remembering, like the fearless child, Our Father’s at the Helm.
Our daughter survived, astounding doctors who later said that in the first week when she was unconscious they didn’t think she would make it. God is good! xxReplyCancel

I loved all of your cards Becca! They are are all gorgeous creations! My lovely aunt has made a scrapbook of every card I have sent her in the past 20 plus years that I have been making cards! I would always try to sent her a card a month no matter what. She passed away this past May, so for the last 2 months I have caught myself addressing an envelope to her! Oh goody, Becca,
I’m sure most of us were feeling a little sad about your “30 days” coming to a close. I couldn’t help feeling one door was closing and another was opening. I share your happiness as you debut your new creations. You certainly ARE learning how to sail your ship!

I don’t even own a die cut machine but I thought, as I read about your new dies, “I’ll use the build it and they will come principle”. But, by the end of the post, I learned you are giving away a machine. Gloryhallelujahwow! How exciting!

Since there may be others who are interested, when your new dies are released, will we be able to SHOP here for them? I’m also curious if your bow maker tool is still available and where can we get that?

My favorite day was day 30. Reading everyone’s comments made me feel that here are beautiful women who would make wonderful friends. I really feel part of a community. I don’t mind saying, again, day 25’s card is my personal favorite, thinking of fessing up to being ‘hoaders’ still make me smile and I love the invitation to contemplate our craft in a deeper way.

    Love and blessings,

Hi Becca, I have been a long-time subscriber, but don’t always comment. You are by far my favorite designer. I have pseudo replicated many of your cards over the years to give away to my friends and family and everyone is always so complimentary of the cards I make. I want to thank you for doing what you do and sharing your immense talent (and a little piece of your life) with the crafting world. I always look forward to your posts and wish I could make bows like you!!! ;-) I do not wish to be considered for the give away, so if luck would be that my name was drawn, please pass me up and give it to another deserving reader. Thank you for allowing us to share your creative journey. It has been a particular blessing to me as I head for an MRI scan on Monday and a possible op on my elbow now in addition to my damaged shoulder and humerus. I have been struggling to write left-handed today and all I can say is, thank goodness for technology and machines at a time like this as everything I put on paper is pretty illegible. I visit your blog daily. I really enjoy visiting your website for ideas and inspiration. Your website reflects a lot of hard work and passion for designing. Card making has become my hobby for the last 2 years. One thing that I love about your website is that your message is so positive and uplifting. I can’t imagine how many long hours you have spent to maintain your website. Several months ago when I became a subscriber my first impression was this site was a large specialty paper company with beautiful card making ideas and hundreds of staff members that helped with inspiration. Over the the course of several months I soon realized that this website was so much more amazing and that there is only one person that is behind the curtain. The wizard of card design. I have watched all your youtube videos and tried my best to read as many blog post as I could from the beginning while also trying to keep up with your current post. I don’t know how you do what you but I am so thankful for this blog. I own more spellbinders than I know what to do with and your blog has help me experiment outside the box. I have searched the web for a step by step book for spellbinder design for beginners and it does not exist. Your website, youtube, and pinterest is the next best thing help. I hope there is a physical book of ideas coming out soon. There are times when technology is not always available or accessible. In conclusion what I loved most about 30 days of giving are the card puzzles. I look at the pictures of your cards first before reading what dies and materials you used. I really had fun guessing and checking if I owned the set or wanted to add to my collection. Hugs d6c SheleaReplyCancel

Oh my goodness, Becca! I have just discovered my name against Day 30, but had to check the time of my post as I couldn’t believe my eyes and even though I knew that I was the only person going by that name, I still thought it must be someone else! I don’t know what to say except thank you, thank you and I am dizzy with excitement and awe and disbelief!
I had just commented that I couldn’t possibly choose the best day, but I think you won’t be surprised now if I say that it has to be today :o)
I shall continue to stare at the picture until I have a ‘Becca creation’ in my hands. Please know that I will treasure it always!
    Excited hugs

Wow! This has been 30 wonderful days here on your blog. Thank you, Becca, for your generous spirit, sharing your cards and now this incredible die cutting machine. I have enjoyed your beautiful cards and the dialog created by your questions. I read so many of the comments and found myself inspired, challenged to be thankful and reminded how something as small as a card can make a difference in someone’s life.

I am happy you shared about your new dies coming out. I have no doubt they will be as stunning as every other die you’ve designed and I will anxiously be waiting to buy mine. Supporting you in this way is my pleasure and a small return for your generosity. I cannot wait to see the cards you create from these dies.

I am incredibly blessed to have been the Day #12 winner. The card arrived today and even holding it in my hands, I can still hardly believe I actually won one. I love this beautiful card and it will always be my favorite. I intend to frame it and keep it in my craft room. I don’t believe it is by luck that the card I won has The Serenity Prayer as the sentiment. During the last two years, I have been challenged to accept the things I cannot change and your card is a lovely reminder of this. My second favorite would have to be the last one. I love the filagree and pink is my favorite color. I learned to make that type of card from your blog and it is my favorite style card.

Thank you so much for sharing your delightful works of art, Becca. You truly are a woman who lives her faith.

    Blessings,
    Sandi SmithReplyCancel

I have only left a comment a couple times this month because life has been pretty rough. Reading all the comments that others have written made me feel not so alone and that maybe, just maybe, there is an end to what I am going through. I have loved seeing all of the gorgeous cards that you have given away and it makes my heart full knowing that others are also doing wonderful things to make this world a little bit better place to be! If we all sent 1 card a week to someone, just because or for an occasion, it would make lots more people smile, maybe for the first time in a long time. I try to send at least a few cards each week and am random about it. Sometimes I will see an address and name on a mailbox when I am out and I write it down and send a Just Because card to them. I have yet to be found out and don’t want others to know it is me. At Christmas time I have around 15-25 kids that I send letters from Santa to letting them know that I will be there on Christmas Eve so they have to get right to bed that night. If I am lucky enough to know the family leaves their door unlocked when they go to Christmas Eve mass I will slip a few little goodies under their tree with a card. If the door is licked then I leave them outside the door to find when they get home.
It is such a wonderful feeling to know that you are making a difference, no matter how little, in someone’s life.
Thank you for keeping the written word alive!! I wish more people would follow suit!!!
    Have a wonderful weekend!ReplyCancel

Day 21 was my favorite. I thought about the question and had to admit to all three, lean crafter, collector and hoarder. I was nice admitting this where others would understand what it means in part to be a crafter. Wanting it when you don’t really need it, getting it anyway and having more stuff than you know you will ever use.

It was also fun to read some of the comments.

Thank you for a fun and thoughtful month with beautiful cards Becca.ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca!
I can not believe that it has been 30 days! Wow! that was a blink of the eye, don’t you think?

As far as cards go…I can not honestly chose a favorite…I loved them all!

However, You asked a question that has stuck with me ever since. (I am so sorry but I can not remember which day it was.) Your question was, “What burdens you?” That was an especially painful day and I believe that those things that I shared with burden me for many years to come.

    Thanks for this great experience!

Okay, today’s comment is a difficult one. For me, the favorite part of your 30 Days of Giving was the cards. Every day we were shown a work of art. Really, I have NEVER seen cards made like yours. They are amazing. I had a really difficult time choosing a favorite one too. But I have to say that Day 12’s card is my favorite. Thank you for all your time and energy in making the last 30 days so much fun… even though I didn’t win.ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
I rarely make any comments on the blogs that I visit as generally the posts on those blogs(same as yours) come at least one day late and quite often two or three(I live in remote Western Australia)and feel a bit like I have missed the boat. However I would like this once to say a very large THANK YOU for the pleasure you give me just by allowing me to read your blog. I am a letter writer by nature, I’m afraid a lot of technology has passed me by so text messages and such are out of my realm but the written word to my mind is something to treasure and just seeing these cards this past month has been sheer delight. Once again I THANK YOU and wish you health and happiness and good luck in all your endeavours.ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca

Although I visit your blog every other day, I am not the sort who usually leaves comments very often, I think because it seems a bit impersonal to me. It’s not the same as a handwritten note to a friend when you post a blog comment on the WWW that everyone can see. But going back over your ’30 Days of Giving’ blogs, I am moved by your kindness and sincerity, your strength and your inspiration. It is so difficult to choose a favourite card from the last month; some are simply more exquisite than others, but they all speak love to me. If I had to pick a blog entry though, I would say Day 21. I too have “special places” where I put treasured items to keep them safe – safe from myself mostly (like you)! Your comments made me laugh and that’s a lovely thing Becca. Thank you and I hope your blog continues for as long as you want it to. Love, G.ReplyCancel

You are truly gifted-as a crafter, a writer and more.
I just came upon your 30 days of give aways this A.M. I went back to see the cards and read that days topic. I admit that the end was the most meaningful to me. I have learned not to be afraid of the storm-for I know “whose” I am and who carries me through the good and bad of this “journey” life is taking me. The Lord has taught me to take one day at a time.
I retired (early) about 4 years ago, did not plan for the “what’s next” but am positive about the future. I too am a life-long “crafter” of all things handmade-still struggling to find my niche.
Yes, I’m learning to sail my ship.
P.S. Yes there is HOPE in our young people carrying on. I taught school for 35 years and still amazed at there tenacity.
    Sincerely, BrendaReplyCancel

Good afternoon Becca! I hope I am correct in my understanding that we can leave one comment per day. I didn’t include my favorite question of the day in my comment yesterday. Your “sail your own ship” question was a favorite because I found myself stopping to reflect on where I am within myself and my faith. My strongest desire is to serve God. Have I been doing that since my accident in January? Your question caused me to ask myself IF I was sailing and IF I was doing it with God leading. I have had to be completely dependent on someone else to take care of me. At times I’ve struggled a lot. It is a humbling experience but I see that because of my faith, I am stronger. I am a child of God and I am weathering this storm because God is at my helm. I am so thankful for all I have learned about myself. Thank you for asking such a thought provoking question.
    Blessings, Becca.ReplyCancel

Good morning Becca How can you ask for a favourite card? Each and every day has been an inspiration and if I could get one of my cards looking halfway like yours I would be happy. You are an inspiration and your efforts to show us how we can accomplish more from our dies is a godsend. Thank you for all that you do!

I love the card on day 27! That’s either the first or 2nd card I saw of yours when I found your site (Yes…I’m THAT new here!) and I fell in love and spent an hour or two just looking at your cards! They are just so beautiful! That one has the perfect sentiment on it, for the online friend who got me inspired enough to try making my own cards. She would send me cards she made from time to time and I enjoyed them a LOT. So I thought of her as soon as I saw that card. Loved the bow, and the beautiful mats you used! You are an inspiration!!ReplyCancel

Becca I have just finished making my box of note cards. I have enjoyd the challenge and look forward to getting more dies aso I can do other things you have shared with us. They are all so beautiful. I have enjoyed watching the you tubes so much! I run it for a min. stop do the work and then start it again some times it takes me 30 min. trying to get through a 2 min frame. Thanks again for sharing your AMAZING ART SKILLS!ReplyCancel

Your final day’s sentiment really struck a chord with me. I am new at work and I have been learning a lot of new things. I sometimes wonder if I am doing things right, or if I am learning fast enough. But I draw strength from praying first thing in the morning, for the Lord to give me strength to get me through the day. And My Lord never disappoints! That much I know! :)ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
Thank you for inspiring me with all your sweet and lovely designs I enjoy coming here to rest a bit before I go to sleep.
One of my favorite cards was day 28 where you used the Victorian corners to create a “medallion” What a great idea! You keep giving me such good ideas for my own cards.

    Blessings to you.

I’ve followed your website for some years now, popping in to see your beautiful cards which have given me such inspiration. I’m afraid I’m a real novice compared with your designs, and being a senior citizen in the UK, very limited in what I can afford or obtain in the way of dies. Do keep on making some beautiful things so that I can keep on following you.ReplyCancel

Also, for the past 31 days I’ve looked forward to seeing what the next question you were going to pose for your readers, some of them really made the gears start turning, and brought back many good memories. Hello Becca! This has been such a fabulous month! Each day surpassing the last, each card more stunning than the one before. Reading the comments while pondering my own answers lead my thoughts in very interesting directions. Your talents extend far beyond your beautiful artistry, to leading others to personal growth and reflection. We THANK YOU for all you give
so willingly, and look forward to each new post with great anticipation! As for my favorite day of this month, I will say it was day 1, as it opened the door to this VERY SPECIAL month. Congratulations to those lucky enough to receive one of your treasures, but all who read the posts are winners! I have many of your dies, and truly feel that Spellbinders should be paying you a commission, as your blog spurred my Spellbinder obsession! And I tell them that at each Craft show that has a booth! I have met and spoken with several different reps at various events and never fail to mention your name and to give credit where credit is due. Hugs!! s.ReplyCancel

Thank you, Becca, for the exciting, enjoyable, inspiring month. I am so happy for all the lucky ones who received the cards. I’m also sorry that I don’t leave comments often enough. I’m changing that as of today!
My favorite card was from day 8, the beautiful white, lacy with a window, spray of small flowers & a big pink bow. Love that you use those colors so much! The sentiment was “You brighten my day.” Maybe that’s why I was attracted to it. I recently decided that I have too many cards not being sent. You know the ones I mean. They’re not perfect in my eyes but the recipient won’t know that.ReplyCancel

  • Karen M. `RothAugust 2, 2015 - 8:59 pm

I really like day 25’s card. I always strive to do something Creative every day for two reasons,

    1. It eases the pain of my heart and trauma dampened Spirit. In all my 43 years of living I have only been put down, used and abused and I strive to keep others from experiencing what I have had to go through.

So sometimes I really need to Create my Own Encouragement, which has been really hard lately since I am in such high physical pain. But I still strive to do at least one 10-15 minutes worth of crafting everyday whether it is cards, crocheting, sewing, Hand-quilting small projects, or making flower arrangements. All this to say and to quote an old Proverb –“Those who wish to sing always find a Song”.

So many times we fall into the trap of Satan’s lies of thinking that people should be feeling sorry for us because of our disabilities when instead we should be focusing on what we can still do and to do it with passion. As even in our Disabled State We can still be a great inspiration to someone else.

    2. Because it takes you beyond yourself and into someone else’s life that may not have had anyone in it before or at least bad examples of what love really is. Giving really is a two-fold Blessing! The more you give of yourself, time, money, services whatever, it really comes back to you 100 fold.ReplyCancel

One thing I’ve learned from the card making craft is that you make some of the most beautiful cards I’ve ever seen! What I have personally learned is that even though I love patterned paper, I use plain colored card stock a lot more than I use patterned paper, that I should wait to purchase those “must have” dies, because there WILL be some I want more the next season, and people appreciate and love to receive hand made cards.ReplyCancel

Card making ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Valiant Honor - www.amazingpapergrace.com

Eeek, I can’t believe I’m writing this, but today is day 30 of the 30 Days of Giving and I’m offering the 30th card for giveaway.  Over the month there are been many cards and many sentiments but this one I saved for today.  This is a quote that’s particularly inspiring to me and I hope it is to you too.   It’s a call to be brave and face the next step forward with confidence because you have the right tools at hand – whether the tools be your faith, your determination or the knowledge you have garnered over time.   How bold to say ‘bring on the storm because I’ll be alright, I know how to navigate it’.   Ahh, I so always want to be that person.  I think when I originally blogged it, I mused how I benefit from the sentiment I’m rallying around as much as the recipient I’m giving it to – what a splendid gift!   Inspired on a daily basis by these little glimmers of wisdom, thanks so much for sharing the day.  You are truly a beautiful community, this month has meant more to me than you could know.

For today’s comment – are you learning how to sail your ship?

If you’re new to the blog, welcome to my 30 Days of Giving – every day during the month of July I’m giving away a handmade card – you can read all the specifics HERE.  You can check to see if you’ve won a card by searching for your name on the Giveaway Winners page.  You get there by the menu at the top of the page – put your cursor on Features then look down the list and select Giveaway Winners.

    Good Morning, Becca!
What a beautiful card! Pink is my color! That would be a inspirational card I’d keep for a treasure!!! As to your question, Actually, I’m learning to let the LORD lead, and steer the ship! His ways are not my ways, and HE’s my CREATOR! I ask myself ‘why do I try to do things my way, when the ONE who made me, and want’s what’s BEST for me, asks me to FOLLOW HIM?’ Life can be stormy with many days in distress, but then there are the glorious days when all is calm and my ship sails in peaceful waters. Crafting is one of the ways Christ calms my heart. I feel it’s an opportunity to identify with the MASTER CREATOR! He created ALL things, and HE is GOOD!ReplyCancel

    Becca,
Well first I’d like to say thank for taking us on this journey with you. It’s made me reminisce about some wonderful younger years. It was nice to learn some things about you and to get to know you better as well. After the loss of my mom two years ago I didn’t think I’d ever sail again, how could I without her, she was my captain. So I just let that ship sit in port for awhile, as I didn’t know how to sail it, nor was I ready for the open sea. I ignored it for a while but the sea kept whispering to me, It’s time. (My mom saying, it’s time to take the wheel now.) Lord knows I feel over board many times but with his help I’m learning how to sail my ship a little further out to sea everyday.

Thank You for our journey these past 30 days. I don’t remember a day I didn’t love your card. However, today’s card has special meaning for me. God helped me through my cancer journey (my body doesn’t feel right now and praying it’s not back). Dr. wants me to have back surgery so I don’t end up in a wheel chair and I don’t know whether to do it or not—don’t want to end up paralyzed –that’s my storm right now. Beautiful card, Becca!!! I know for me the BEST way for my ship to sail is to be the passenger and let Christ do the steering and calm the storms. That may sound silly to some but I KNOW there are others who have experienced what I am talking about!! Guess it’s kinda like that song “Jesus Take the Wheel”! Sailing is much easier when there is Someone “experienced at the helm, when the storms of life come, I can still experience His PEACE! Thanks Becca for a very inspiring, month of sharing your gifts and talents!! BLESSINGSReplyCancel

I think I’m learning to navigate it myself now, at least somewhat. Family is what matters and I still have family left. Love todays card and the quote on it.

I think every day of our life we are learning to sail our ship. Our experiences each day and our trials are all teaching moments and how we react or what we do with these experiences will define us in the end. This life is our training ground and we are here to be taught and refined to return to our Father in Heaven. Yet he has given us our free agency to choose for ourselves what we will do with this time on earth. I just turned 76 and I feel like –wait–I need more time, I’m still learning how to get this right!ReplyCancel

Hi Becca, Yes, I am learning to sail my ship. Having just retired a couple years ago, and my 92 year old dad move in with me, my ship changes course and takes detours here and there. But we always manage to get back on course, perhaps with a couple “waves” to overcome, but it all settles down eventually. Beautiful card as always. I just love the sentiment today. I jotted it down to use in future projects. It’s been fun seeing all these cards, and the anticipation every day to see if I would be one of the recipients. I look forward to all your new designs. They are all inspiring, and a blessing! Thank you!ReplyCancel

  • Kristine VencelJuly 30, 2015 - 10:22 am

Oh boy, you saved a really good one for the end!
I have 2 answers to this question. First, I am learning to sail a new ship since my husband has been ill. Totally new learning curve on living with someone who has become disabled.
Second, I think life in general requires us to learn to sail our ship each & every day. The sea is never the same. Some days we see other ships, some days we don’t. Some days we see small ships, some days freighters. Some days the sea is calm, some days it is stormy with huge white caps. We need to be flexible & willing to stay the course, and try not to capsize!
Becca, Thanks so much for this wonderful month of sharing your beautiful cards, hoping to win one, and the comeraderie of daily sharing on your blog. I have found it to be so inspirational & fun! Now, to go back & finish reading all these posts! Not sure how you have done it. I am still catching up!ReplyCancel

Good morning, Becca. What a charming card and sentiment with which to end your “30 Days of Giving” series. I’ve so enjoyed the daily dose of delightful creativity you’ve shared with each of us. It has been quite inspiring. As to today’s question, each day gives me more “opportunities” to learn how to sail my ship. I’ve always looked at life as the ultimate learning opportunity, since it seems to provide many examples. In my crafting, I’m learning to trust the insights and instincts I’ve gained over the years. I’ve also started to listen to the inner voice that tells me where I should be sailing my ship. And thanks, Becca, for being in the lighthouse guiding my way with your wonderful expertise!ReplyCancel

Your question about sailing my ship caused me to pause. I really want my Heavenly Father to pilot the ship of my life and adjust the sails to His will. SELF gets in the way so many times.

Thank you for one more opportunity to enter to win your gorgeous card! It would be a cherished gift!ReplyCancel

OMG This is a BEAUTIFUL card and the saying is just as beautiful.
Thank you Becca for this amazing journey of expressing our thoughts and some personal memories. This card is in my Mother’s favorite color pink. She passed away a year ago-but she always would say not to be afraid of the storms that sometimes would come our way-but to have faith in our beliefs and fight the storm. I read this today and I remembered her precious words. Thank you Becca. I will continue to sail my ship with faith-laughter and love.ReplyCancel

This card is so dainty & precious. I’d be afraid to handle it very much. You did a beautiful job as usual.
I started learning to sail my ship close to 8 years ago. Just 1 month after graduating from nursing school, I learned I had breast cancer. I had to face the fact that I may never see my grandchildren grow up. But 8 years later after chemo, a double mastectomy, & lots of frustration, I am here & enjoying watching 4 wonderful grand children grow up. I have already hooked the oldest (age 9) on papercrafting.ReplyCancel

Becca, I can not believe that our 30 days are up. I have truly enjoyed this month of luscious creativity. All the card recipients are truly blessed by your generosity. I can see why you have saved this one for the grand finale. This is one I would keep for my self and post in my office for daily reminder. We have had a really stormy year with health issues here at the Smith household. It started in January with one of my twin granddaughters who underwent major surgery and is doing great now. I lost my 39 yr old son a few months back and my husband was diagnosed with a rare cancer and is battling that right now and my 88 yr old mother who lives with us is sliding down hill rapidly this yr. But I just keep remembering how inspiring you were when you were dealing with John’s illness and I have been able to draw strength from that. Thank you.

What an amazing sentiment…that is going on my must have list. It is one I am not familiar with, and it is…just so right. And the card? Outstanding. I think the medallion is probably going on the same list as the stamp.

Am I learning to navigate my ship? Oh, I certainly hope so! I’ve had more than enough challenge and storm in the last four years to figure it out! And truly, lifelong…it surely should be coming along with practice, giggle!

Becca, I just have to say, this has been such an amazing way to spend 30 days…and I am so blessed to have done this. It could not have come at a better time…you have been part of keeping my rudder pointed straight. During those first really pain filled days, though surgery, to now, it has blessed me more than I can say to stop every morning except the one for surgery, and spend some time in thoughtful reflection, a little prayer, some laughter, and a healthy dose of gratitude here on your blog. And reading through other people’s entries, and getting a peek into their lives…another layer of blessing. Thank you, thank you, thank you!ReplyCancel

My answer to the metaphor ‘sailing your ship’ is ‘each new day is a gift from God’. Each moment from the time you awake till nightfall is a lesson in awareness. I constantly ask myself what is the lesson with each event and how can I help make this a better day, a better neighborhood, and better country……even it’s just a little thing. With age, life’s experiences and wisdom, I have found joy in little things and try hard not to let the other little things stress me out. Ain’t life beautiful!ReplyCancel

Oh Becca this card is amazing – so soft and feminine and gorgeous!!
It is through prayer and my faith that I am (still) learning how to ‘sail my ship’ called life. Without God I would be nothing!

I am learning to sail my ship. I know what my limits are but at the same time I am not afraid to try something new. You don’t know if you can do something until you try.ReplyCancel

  • TrishaJuly 30, 2015 - 5:56 pm

The hinged card style is my true favorite and this one is particularly pretty.
Some days it feels like my ship is sinking so no use steering it.
Then I read the comments made by others whose lives are so troubled yet they keep sailing on, that I take a deep breath and push forward again. Thank you and thank you also to your followers for inspiration and hope.ReplyCancel

I simply adore this card, Becca! The lacy look, beautiful pink offset against the white and your charming bow! I love, love, love it! One of my very favorites but I do love them all!
The last two years have been the most challenging of my life. My wonderful Father passed away two years ago yesterday, I had a mini stroke, two surgeries on my foot and the fall that not only broke my bones but has had other serious complications. My faith has been stretched further than ever before. The indignities off a serious injury nearly knocked me into a serious depression while the heartache of loss and the pain of the physical injuries added to my struggle. In the midst of all this, my God has shown me so many things about myself and I have learned to navigate my life in a way I had not known how to do in the past. At 65 years old, God has shown me that I am much stronger than I ever knew. Life can change in a heartbeat but I know my relationship with God is on a deeper level. I have come to better understand that it is only through my faith in God that I am able to sail my own ship.ReplyCancel

Another gorgeous card Becca … just love the pinks and white and all the embellishments and dies. I’m not exactly sure what “learning how to sail your ship” means? If it means, have you figured out what type of stamper/crafter you are, the answer is YES! I love most any type of crafting. Today I made a cat tent for my daughter’s two cats … it was a lot of fun to make and very rewarding.ReplyCancel

WOW! What a wonderful month with all those gorgeous cards and fabulous sentiments. I re-learning to sail my ship by starting a new job this weekend. After 6 years of elder caregiving for a family member, I’m going back to work part-time which is great, but it’s 3 8.5 hr days and it’s been years, since I worked that many hours at a time and worked the swing shift on top of it. So I’m on the newest sailing ship in my life now and although I’m excited and looking forward to this next sail, I’m nervous and scared about it as well. Hopefully in a few days, I’ll have learned this new ship.ReplyCancel

What a lovely card and encouraging quote! God is helping me to sail my ship one day and one moment at a time. I lost my husband in November of 2014 very suddenly and I have 2 young daughters ( 6 and 2 ) to raise, support, teach, and encourage in their faith. At times, it has been absolutely overwhelming to be alone and to face not only the grief, but the vast future that seems big and empty. But God is faithful and He promised He would provide all our need in His riches in Christ Jesus. One moment, one day at a time, we are learning to sail our ships, my daughters and I, and we are slowly going forward in life.ReplyCancel

  • SuzzieQJuly 30, 2015 - 8:48 pm

Yes, I am learning to sail my own ship. I still lean heavily on God to get me through the storms. This is the first time in my life that I have ever lived by myself. For 65 years, I was either in my Mother’s home or married. Now that my husband has died and my three sons are on their own in another state, I am alone. The last two years have been a learning process for me. Not so much in learning how to do something, but how to deal with the extra time on my hands that I now have. For almost thirteen years taking care of my paraplegic husband, there was no time or energy left for me. So now I am rested, getting adjusted to doing just for me, and looking forward tomorrow. Now if I could get to cleaning the house instead of making cards!ReplyCancel

Weathering the storm? Hmmm – Actually I am very blessed as I do not have many storms to weather. The very few times I’ve had problems, I pray to the Lord to just let me touch the hem of his robe and I know I’ll be just fine. Would so love one of the Amazing Becca’s cards! What a beautiful card & message! We actually, are forced to “only” do the “next step” for a while… as full time caregiver for my sweet M <3 m, age 95, and my health failed… we are a couple of sailors that never thought we'd be like this! We are so grateful & pray through our current step & only (not perfectly) but only try to focus on the next step we need to do & not the last very hard one we just did. Thank you for a nice respite!ReplyCancel

Becca – I’m so excited about your future. Your cards are so beautiful. You have a special touch in your design – not sure how to describe it. I just know I love your stamps and dies. I had just found JustRite a couple years ago where I’d bought several of your stamps and dies. I was so disappointed about their closing and I went on Amazon and bought several more of your stamp sets thinking that was the only way I would find them. So I am happy to see that you may be offering your own stamps and dies – I just love them and the people I make cards for love them too. I don’t do much “commenting” but I have followed your 30-day blog and had to express my thoughts to you. May your future be filled with hope, grace and peace.ReplyCancel

    HI Becca,
Thank you for taking the time to explain the way blogs work and how they are supported. I did not post a comment many times because I wanted to give others a chance to win, and I knew there would be those “really special to me” cards for which I’d post a comment. NOW I know better, and will post to support you.
One of my favorite cards was on Day 28. I posted a comment simply because I loved the card and wanted to enter the drawing.
Thanks for the promo on the artisan explorer. I’m guessing they will retire soon, so hope to get one before they retire. It would be great to have for those little cuts that the grand caliber is too big for… ya know.
    Thanks much

    Hi Becca
First let me thank you so much for the 30 days of giving, I have enjoyed it so much – seeing your exquisite cards, marvelling at the wondrous dies and reading everyone’s inspiring comments.

I find it very hard to chose just one favourite, so I would like to choose 2 please. Both cards shown on 25 or 27 July would get my vote simply for the muted colours, and beautiful cards

Becca i so love this card its so delicate and elegant. But most of all its the sentiment. You see i’m 69 and still learning to sail my ship. But like the disciples i sometimes get fearful out on the seas of life. I wish i could say with the same faith that Louisa May Alcott that i fear no storm all i can see is that often you will find me clinging to a Rock when the storm gets really bad.ReplyCancel

Catching up on your blog as I have been away. I just wanted to comment on the saying on this card. Thinking of when I started to follow you and following your journey and hardships that you sailed so bravely through, I though of how appropriate this was for you. I can remember you saying that you had some decisions to make in regards to the direction of your life. I believe that your faith had guided you in the right direction and we , your readers, thank God that you are still creating and sharing. The wasters are never always calmed, but you have become one heck of a sailor!
