Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Shady Allure and Serendipity Stamps - The Peace of God
Good morning friends!  I thought I’d pop in to share some more oval goodness with you in the way of a landscape oriented card and some beautiful textures.   For a change of pace I reached for a rich blue and embossed with a white core paper using Spellbinders Shady Allure.  After buffing with some sand paper, the lovely texture of the embossing folder comes out and serves as the base element in my card.  On top I layered Spellbinders Fleur de Elegance and ink embossed the detail by sponging over the openings in the die template – yet another way to distinguish the detail.  My next layer, Spellbinders Labels Forty Seven is placed there just to peek out from underneath the oval from Spellbinders Oval Floral.  Just that little bit of color is enough to separate the layers.  I’ve had this lovely sentiment from Serendipity Stamps for quite some while – it’s called May the Peace of God.  It’s a fair sized stamp that fills the oval and the navy ink adds another layer of contrast!

I sponged around most layers with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.  The final piece was an accent on the upper right hand corner of the card to add some interest – I used Spellbinders Fancy Framed Tags Four to cap off the design.    The card is 8″ x 6″

    Very pretty, Becca.

Also, I notice now with the blog change in order for us to leave a comment we have to put in our name/email/blog every time. Is this something new? For those of us that comment a lot it was always nice to just make the comment and those fields were already auto populated.ReplyCancel

      Hi there Bunny,
I’m so sorry to hear this, you are the first to mention it and I agree, it would definitely be easier if that info repopulated. I’m curious to see if it happens to everyone. Is there anyone out there who does ‘not’ have to put their name and email each time they leave a comment? Can you let me know in your comment? I’ll be working on this to see if I can find out why or if it is intended to happen that way.ReplyCancel

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design - I Dwell in Possibility and Spellbinders Royal Medallions - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Good morning friends!  I love a classic go-to card that doesn’t take too much fiddling but really has impact.  I tuck those ideas away in a folder and every time I need a quick wedding card, thank you card or just don’t have the time to brainstorm – I go to that folder.  Here’s a new one for my folder this year. The laurel wreath die is a fairly new die from the A Gilded Life Collection – Royal Medallions and it absolutely makes the card.  I layered it onto Spellbinders Heirloom Oval and love the play between the two dies – the staggered look draws your eye in.  (It would also look lovely on the die I used on my last card Spellbinders Oval Regalia).   The beautiful new quote from Quietfire Design called I Dwell in Possibility is a perfect fit inside the laurel leaves.  The bottom of the focal layer is cut with Spellbinders A2 Bracket Borders One

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design - I Dwell in Possibility and Spellbinders Royal Medallions - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Designers Tip:  The dimension in the laurel wreath is just begging to be shown.  After cutting it in gold, sponge on some brown ink and wipe some off – it’s a bit like antiquing and some will settle in the nooks and crannies to show off the beautiful deboss.  The card is 6″ x 6″

Stamps: Quietfire Design – I Dwell in Possibility
Craft Paper:  Neenah Classic Crest 80 lb Smooth (Cover) – Natural White,  My Minds Eye  – Lost & Found, Two, Gold Poster Board – Hobby Lobby
Ink:  Fresh Ink – Chocolate, Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink

Lovely sentiment. You seem to get a lot of detail on such a small card yet it never looks over done. I am having a craft room sort out today. Well I’ve started today not sure I’ll finish today though! It’s been a while since it had a good tidy up and I’ve found things I lost and things I forgot I had. It will be worth it when it’s done I keep telling myself. I do like to be organised but it takes time to keep on top of things but good storage solutions are key then there are no excuses! Mmmmm… Time will tell. Better get back to it whilst I’m in the sort it out mood.ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
I just wanted to take a moment to let you know how I love your cards are. I don’t get a chance to comment as often as I would like. Your new website is beautiful too. I really look forward to enjoying the other parts of your site once you have them up and running. Take care, Diana StewartReplyCancel

Amazing sentiment and gorgeous beyond measure card Becca, it’s always such a joy to come here and admire your work, it’s inspiring and, like this lovely sentiment says, I hope to be able to recreate this amazing design. I’ve told all of my friends about you and, like me, they are amazed at your artistry.

    Hi Becca,

Just back from a trip to London, England and visited one of our favourite craft shops.
We brought a list of Spellbinder die names with us which you have used and came home with a large bag of goodies. Very happy camper. Love this die on this card.

Happy crafting and hugs from Ireland

Hi Becca, what die did you use to cut the centre out of the oval regalia? The ovals i have are either too big or too small.

Jennifer, I’m so sorry I didn’t list that in my supplies – it went right by me. I used Spellbinders Classic Ovals Small (the largest die). I’ll add that to my list :-)ReplyCancel
