WRBF-4548-2015
Good morning friends!  Who knew this weekend would be so busy!  Here’s what’s going on:

  1.  If you stopped by yesterday, you found out that I’m giving away a trio of gilded journals in a journal holder. Each journal takes about 15 minutes to complete and the entire project takes less than an hour!  The entire tutorial and pictures of the completed project are on the Spellbinders Website ——–> HERE.   To enter to win (even my international fiends), you must go to (click here) ——->THIS POST<——– on my blog and leave a comment before May 5th.
  2. Today is National Scrapbook Day!!  Spellbinders is hosting five sweet challenges that are being revealed today – you have all weekend to play so why not pick one.  Details are HERE (on Instagram).

Okay, now on to what I wanted to show you today.  I’m from a small family but when my sister and I get together, even for a simple dinner, we love to lavish love (like this) on the event to make it memorable.   We’re both from the “use it now” school; we eat on my good dishes, we drink with the fancy glasses, out come the charger plates, fabric napkins and I lay out a menu program on their plate.  For a small party of 4 or 5, it only takes an hour to prepare; it’s so simple and it makes for a marvelous presentation.

A computer typed menu is adhered to gold cardstock leaving a scant border, then mounted to teal cardstock that is 3-7/8″ wide x 5-1/8″ tall.  Swirl Bliss Pocket is attached to Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A (largest die) cut from gold and then mounted on Spellbinders 5 x 7 Matting Basics A (largest die) cut from teal cardstock.  Spellbinders Twisted Metal Tags and Accents is my favorite go to motif for the regal element that sits on the top of the assembly.  Then I made a belly band using  two lengths of the rectangular element from Swirl Bliss and I left a large enough space in the center for the circle element from Swirl Bliss Pocket and put a gold strip behind the filigree.  The jewel in the center is a button from my stash.

Thanks for asking and letting me share every day ideas on how to use my new dies.  More to come!!  In the meantime Happy National Scrapbooking Day.  Get crafty!

Journal Trio Giveaway at www.amazingpapergrace.com
Good morning friends!   Today I have a giveaway going on.  I’m showing you a sneak peek of the Journal Trio that is being featured on the Spellbinders website today with instructions on how to make it!  When I wrote the instructions I had to make a duplicate set so I thought it a perfect opportunity to send something out to one of my lucky readers. This is one of the three gold covered journals that come in the set nestled in a gold embellished open ended storage case tied with silk ribbon.  Have I piqued your curiosity?

The Journal Trio uses the Swirl Bliss Pocket and Swirl Bliss die set and over the last several months it has become something I reach for often – especially for gift items.  These little journals have become my ‘go to’ gift because they’re so pretty, so unique and the journals themselves can be covered in less than half an hour.   I’ve been purchasing the Journals at Hobby Lobby but the key is to find a journal about 4″ tall – and yes I’m sure at some point I’m going to make my own journals.  Gold is my favorite but I can see this in any color and I’ll soon be trying with felt and some other specialty coverings.  When I was young we had to cover our school textbooks to keep them from getting too beat up – well this project brings it back in elegant form.

Open to all readers including international!  In order to win the duplicate Journal Trio I have here, leave a comment on this post and I’ll pick a winner on May 5th.  You’re welcome to stop by once a day and in your comment, tell me what’s your all time favorite die template.  If you’re like me, you can never have just one!

Beautiful! I think I may just be able to re-create this journal – and how sweet for gifts! I do love the way your mind works. My favorite die template? Ho-ley cow that’s a tough one. I have – lots – of them… Probably my favorite is the last one I’ve seen you use…so it changes almost daily :-) Thank you for your inspiration!!ReplyCancel

  • Dottie DavisMay 1, 2015 - 8:43 am

The journal trio is a wonderful idea….my head is spinning with ideas for coverings, too! My favorite die…is constantly changing as I incorporate them on my cards. I just gave my daughter a purple flowered rendition of the exploding box, an idea you had several weeks ago, with the white and gold box you made. I had butterflies (and one bumblebee) on long stems of clear plastic strips so that when it was opened would burst wide open. What a delight and I have to thank you for the idea! I check out your blog every few days as your die ideas are so intriguing. Thank you so much for sharing them.ReplyCancel

That would have made it so much easier to open up those books to do homework instead of putting it off. I wonder if my grandkids need to have their text books done? Thank you for a beautiful set of dies!ReplyCancel

You do such awesome work and I would love to receive your journal and start a collection of your cards and instructions maybe in it. I love that you think outside the box, Becca! I could so make these to give and to donate to an annual charity silent auction that I contribute to each year. One of my all time favorite die sets right now is the Soellbinders “A2 Devine Eleoquence” I love layering this die! I often cut it from Neenah “classic natural white” and ink it with Ranger Distress Ink in a shade that works with my other color choices for my card. Currently I am favoring the “antique linen” color..ReplyCancel

    Becca,
Some how I came across your website and I have to check back everyday to see what you have made. This Journal is beautiful! I love the Spellbinder die that you made your Gatefold card for a Baby Girl and then for the Christmas card but I think my favorite one is the frame with the girls picture in it and they are under the glass dome. Just Beautiful! I love your website and I started baby sitting my youngest Grandson so I had extra money to buy more Spellbinder Dies. I would love to receive this journal to start putting pictures of your cards and the instructions in it and copy some of the things you have made. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.ReplyCancel

    Liebe Becca,
ich schreibe aus Deutschland, denn du hast auch internationale Leser aufgefordert einen Kommentar abzugeben.
I’ll try it in english, so please be merciful. I’m a child of god too and I’m excited to find a christian crafter on this blog. But first I was attracted by your project. I’m a teacher and I know the problem with covering schoolbooks from my own experience. But this wonderful covering has to cover on itself perhaps more than the book. This idea is amazing! To be perfectly honest, I love to create flowers with all the helpful dies. Than I feel like a creator as my heavenly father.
Stay blessed and go on with your gorgeous works!

Your journal idea is so dreamy, what a special gift!
As for my personal favorite, it all depends on the project since I make cards and love scrap-booking too. I’ve recently been using the frilly card-sized dies with options and have made several cards that are so pretty. One dear lady told me she framed the Easter card I gave her and it hangs on her wall. Now that is an honor to hear. I also have been using small dies for accents on my layouts.ReplyCancel

Morning Bekka, it is a bit overcast here in the UK today on a chilly Sunday morning but your creation brings a touch of class and elegance to the day, what a beautiful creation, this would look so lovely made into a memory book for our new Princess who was born yesterday to our Prince William and Kate the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, they could store some very special pictures of her in here so that she can see them when she is older.

I would love to be in with a chance to win this set of dies, I am definitely a die addict.

Have a great Sunday everyone, stay, safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith from the UK xxxReplyCancel

Unfortunately I didn´t get even one die, when we were visiting the US here last month. I was chocked to find out, that not even one of the big stores or anywhere else had any dies in store, but just told me to order them online, which I ofcause should´ve had done beforehand then, if I had just known, as last time we went, I found tons of great dies in every store I visited over there, so I admit, I was chocked, when I found out, that it obviously was history over there.ReplyCancel

Thank You Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Thanks Die and Martha Stewart Fans and Flourishes Punch - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Hiya friends, today I’m sharing a card with new Quietfire Dies!  Simply elegant, the “Thanks” was penned then put into design by my sweet friend Suzanne Cannon.  I love that it’s her handwriting and that it works in conjunction with the Thanks stamp set I used earlier this month in this post.   So I made a long profile card that fits into a business sized envelope.  Measuring 8-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ I mounted a panel punched with the Martha Stewart Fans and Flourishes border punch to get the length that I needed for the focal panel.  To give the die cut word a little bit of dimension against the cream I cut one in Aqua Mist and one in cream (darkened up with Antique Linen Distress Ink) and stacked them together with the bottom one slightly offset – that gives a little bit of shadow.
WRBF-4666-2015
I finished up with a bow and some pearls! :-)

CRAFT SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps:  Quietfire Design Thanks Die
Craft Paper
:  Neenah Classic Crest – Natural White – 80lb smooth, Papertrey Ink Aqua Mist
Ink:  None
Accessories: Martha Stewart Fans and Flourishes Border Punch, Recollections Pearls, May Arts Ribbon

So I hinted around yesterday that I’ll be starting a giveaway tomorrow.  You said you wanted to see some ideas of what to do with my new dies.  Well, this is my most favorite gift item, as of late,  and is made with my new Swirl Bliss Pocket die.  When you see how easy it is to make . . . well, I can’t wait to see what you think.   At any rate, I made this gift item in duplicate and one of the two are being given away here.  More details coming tomorrow :-)

    Good morning Becca,
I do like your dinky cards that you make and i can see why you love this “thanks” die as it is so clean but fluid and you can feel yourself writing just in this way, i just wish i could write big enough for it to be seen to make into a die in the first place. You are hinting about your swirl dies which i feel in love with the minute i seen them on your blog and ordered them up as i just think they are the most exquisite and stunning, versatile dies that i have purchased in a long time. Can’t wait to see what tomorrows project is though that i can make with them.
