One Box, Three Occasions by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Gate Element - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Good morning sweet friends! Today is the final day of the series One Box, Three Occasions; the occasion I chose to highlight today is a Birthday.  Well, not just a birthday, a birthday for a little, little girl.  I had to do it!  So often I pull something from my stash for my little friends but today I decided I would make a custom box (not what it appears to be) that is definitely for a wee one and designed to hopefully bring a smile.    At first glance todays samples seem much like yesterdays – I created a soft pink card using Spellbinders Antique Corner (cut four times) and built up with Spellbinders Labels Thirty Nine followed by Spellbinders Fleur de Elegance and finally JustRite Vintage Labels Seven.  A tad on the elegant side but this card was 30 minutes from start to finish and is easy, classic layers.  The finished card size is 5-1/2″ square.  If you are intrigued as I am with boxes and want to know how to make the original box – instructions can be found on this post: https://www.amazingpapergrace.com/one-box-three-occasions-day-1/

WRBF-4574-2015
I decided to go easy on the embellishments; I know I wouldn’t have any problem mailing this out!  The silk bow and ribbon roses compress quite a bit to a flat profile although I never have a problem with the larger bows and flowers I use (creative packing :-)).

WRBF-4575-2015
If you look closely, my box looks different.  It is :-) It’s made from mat board and it has a single thickness lid that I fashioned by scoring.  The box is 2-1/4″ square and 5″ tall.  Today I used Spellbinders Gate Elementt as a border and attached it directly to the box instead of the lid.  WRBF-4576-2015
Then the magic happens when the lid comes off, yikes – an explosion box with a little ballerina inside :-)  The ballerina is Spellbinders Tiny Dancers

WRBF-4577-2015
Spellbinders Labels Twenty Seven works “perfectly” as the four way hinge on the inside bottom to make the explosion box.  I simply scored Labels Twenty Seven on each of four sides, applied glue above the score line and attached to four matboard panels which were covered on front and back with design paper.  When I lift all of the four panels, their hinge brings them vertically into a box that can be capped with a simple top.  I decorated by gluing the gate element on the front and wrapping it around to the inside.  If you are feeling adventurous and want to try an explosion box, there’s an excellent resource HERE.  I cut the  2 tiny dancers from a cereal box weight chipboard because I wanted a sturdy base.  Then I cut again from cardstock and  glued over the chipboard.  I added lace as the skirt, ribbon as a top and a band of gold for a crown then glued the two sets of girls back to back so they look good from every angle.   Lastly I used Spellbinders Ribbon Banners to add Happy Birthday to the base of the box.

CRAFT SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Wordsworth – Birthday
Craft Paper
: Neenah Classic Crest Natural White – Smooth 80 lb,PTI Sweet Blush, K & Company – SW Floral Mat Pad
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Spellbinders Labels Twenty Seven,  Spellbinders Antique CornerSpellbinders Labels Thirty Nine, Spellbinders Fleur de EleganceJustRite Vintage Labels Seven, Spellbinders Gate ElementSpellbinders Ribbon BannersSpellbinders Tiny Dancers, May Arts Silk Ribbon, Want2Scrap Pearls, Glossy Accents for adhesive, matboard, Offray Ribbon Roses, lace, Recollection Pearls

I’ve enjoyed each remake of the filigree box :-)  I did the series because I couldn’t choose just one and I thought the options were interesting.  One more card coming with the Gate Element die and then back up on the shelf it goes – it kept me occupied this week and I hope it gives you some ideas of what you can do with it!

Question Parking Lot:

Elaine Johnson on comment #3 asked me when the Tiny Dancer dies would be available.  They look to be available right now in the Spellbinders store – I clicked on them and they were placed in my cart :-).   I think what was not available were measurements because these two figures would be difficult to measure or the measurement has not been loaded yet.

I have always wondered why companies don’t make their products available all the time. With new crafters coming on the scene everyday, it would behove them to do so. I am so disappointed that the ballerina dies are not available. Will they be brought back anytime soon? Other than that, your box is exquisite< as usual. Every thing you do is top notch.ReplyCancel

    Hello Becca,
Another gorgeous offering from you. I’ve been in bed all week (still am) with the dreaded cold virus that seems to be everywhere. Tonight I crept out of bed and made the first box!! Oh I’m so pleased with it but, because funds are limited I used labels G for the top, and adapted a corner die instead of the gate.
I do hope you don’t mind but believe me, it’s beautiful, and I’ve just got the small cards to make to put inside. I may stamp inside half of them “Thank you” and leave the others blank to be used as gift cards. I’ll sleep on it!!!! Thank you once again for your inspiration xx.ReplyCancel

Valentines Day Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design ??? and Spellbinders Gate Element - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Good morning sweet friends! Today is day two of the series One Box, Three Occasions; the occasion I chose to use is Valentines Day.  How often do you need to send a card and have a little box for goodies – that alone made Valentines Day a good choice, plus it’s coming soon!  The box is the same as the box I created yesterday using Spellbinders Labels Twenty Seven except this time the Spellbinders Gate Element is oriented differently and it makes all the difference in the world.   So easy and so different looking in red and white.  If you want to know how to make the original box – instructions can be found on this post:  https://www.amazingpapergrace.com/one-box-three-occasions-day-1/

Valentines Day Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design The Heart Has It
Today I have a full sized card (5-1/2″ tall by 7-1/2″ wide) to go along with the box.  It features a new Valentines Day sentiment from Quietfire Design called The Heart Has Its Reasons.  Because I was able to incorporate the Gate Element, all the pieces match. I added the element by simply folding a gate element over the top of each of the Spellbinders Baby Bunting pieces used.  The looks is tied together using Spellbinders Labels Thirty Three.  Flowers are created using Spellbinders Urban Blooms and embellished using Spellbinders Foliage Flourish.  Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design The Heart Has It
The box that I created in this series measures 5-3/8″ tall and is 2-3/8″ wide and deep.  The gate element is not folded and aligned on the corner  as I did with the box yesterday, but is placed squarely on each side and adhered using Ranger Glossy Accents.   To keep the bottom of the gate from flaring out, I simply wove a ribbon over and under the spokes and tied a bow on the front and sealed the theme by using a small heart button.  It’s not as dressy as yesterday, but a sweet addition for gift giving (thinking chocolates)!

Valentines Day Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design The Heart Has It
I finished off the design by adding color using a watercolor brush and some of my Victorian Velvet distress ink.  I wet the inside of the heart with my paint brush then picked color up directly from the pad stroking from right to left to get a little gradient.  Last order of business – a swirl of pearls from Prima.

CRAFT SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Quietfire DesignThe Heart Has Its Reasons
Craft Paper
: Neenah Classic Crest Solar White – Smooth 80 lb, PTI Pure Poppy, PTI Sweet Blush
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black, Victorian Velvet Distress Ink
Accessories: Spellbinders Labels Twenty Seven,  Spellbinders Labels Thirty Three, Spellbinders Gate Element, Spellbinders Baby BuntingSpellbinders Urban Blooms, Spellbinders Foliage FlourishMay Arts Silk Ribbon, Prima Pearls, Glossy Accents for adhesive.

I hope you enjoyed Day 2 and yet another way to mix things up and options on the filigree box.  Keeping fingers crossed that what I have for tomorrow works out – stop by by and have a look see!

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Gate Element and Spellbinders Labels Twenty Seven - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Good morning sweet friends!  Feeling better and will make it back to 100% soon but in the meantime, it sure felt good to finish up some of the crafty things I started.  Thanks for all the wonderful, wonderful comments about my new dies!  Several of you are asking when they will be available and I’ll pass the information along as soon as I receive it from Spellbinders.  In the meantime, several of you have left comments on my posts here and in Facebook and have emailed me that you were already able to purchase them at Create and Craft TV in the UK and the new Create and Craft TV in the United States (google is your friend).  I’m not sure how many they have in stock but it seems that quite a few of you have hopped over there and picked them up.  Thank you so much!

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Gate Element and Spellbinders Labels Twenty Seven - www.amazingpapergrace.com
This week I’m beginning a three day series called One Box – Three Occasions.   It’s a series of posts to show you how easy it is to change up the look of a box to suit several occasions.  Common throughout all three days is a filigree box I designed; I use the same die to construct the box as well as to complement and add accents.  Today is the elegant day – of course gold had to come first.  I’ve been a gold girl from day one, even when it wasn’t cool to love gold and hallelujah, now it’s a trend.  This pretty gold and white box will do well to house a gift or some decadent chocolate or any classic favor.

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Gate Element and Spellbinders Labels Twenty Seven - www.amazingpapergrace.com
The box measures 5-3/8″ tall and is 2-3/8″ wide and deep.  It is made using Spellbinders Gate Element and Spellbinders Labels Twenty Seven.  Inside the box are four little tall cards that measure 2-1/8″ wide by 5-1/4″ tall.  They are small enough that they can be used for a quick thank you or as enclosure cards.  If you can glue and score, then you can make this box – I promise.  Here’s a video to show you how! (Please forgive my voice, I’m still getting over a cold smackdown)…

CRAFT SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: None
Craft Paper
: Bazzill Smooth White 12″ x 12″ Paper, The Fine Touch Metallic Poster Board
Ink:  None
Accessories: Spellbinders Gate Element and Spellbinders Labels Twenty Seven, May Arts Silk Ribbon, Pearl Button, Glossy Accents for adhesive.

Easy right!?!  You’ll have to come back tomorrow and see how I change it up!!  Thanks so much for stopping by today!!

  • […] Good morning sweet friends! If you want to know how to make the original box – instructions can be found on this post:  https://www.amazingpapergrace.com/one-box-three-occasions-day-1/ […]ReplyCancel

A beautiful project. And, yes, I have purchased the Arched Elegance set from Create and Craft and look forward to using those dies. I have a question – when you are making the cards to go in the box, an adhesive has been applied to the back of the gate element die cut and you pull it off in order to apply the cut to the card. What adhesive is this? xyron?ReplyCancel
