Christmas Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Washi Tape and Spellbinders Heirloom Reflections - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Well, since we’re in the countdown, I thought I’d whip up another quick Christmas card.  I found a way to use the washi tape I’ve managed to collect and I have to say I love this as a way to have a background.  This was simple, simple, simple – just die cuts, washi tape and a bow!  I simply picked all my gold washi tapes and lined them up on a panel.  On top of the panel I added Spellbinders Timeless Rectangles along with Spellbinders Heirloom Reflections cut from Spellbinders ATC so that the negative shape is what remains.

The washi tape behind colors the ornament and the final step is die cut words with the Spellbinders Happy Holidays Sentiment.

Christmas Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design Blessed by Christmas Sunshine and Spellbinders Regal Frames - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Hi there friends!  Guess who is scrambling to finish up one or two more Christmas cards? That’s right, me!  Talk about therapy – Christmas music and making cards!  This week I received a new sentiment from Quietfire Design called Blessed by the Christmas Sunshine.  Does anything sound more optimistic?  It simply touched my heart.  I paired it with the elegance of new Victorian Dies for a regal look.
Christmas Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design Blessed by Christmas Sunshine and Spellbinders Regal Frames - www.amazingpapergrace.com
I stacked up several dies for the card including Spellbinders 5 x 7 Matting Basics A and  Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A with Spellbinders Labels 39 Decorative Accents,  Spellbinders Fleur de Elegance, and Spellbinders Regal Frame.  I got extra mileage by using Spellbinders Fleur de Elegance as a border, I simply snipped it into four pieces (see bel0w).

Here’s how I made it – step by step:

  1. Create a cream card base with cream cardstock that measures 5-1/2″ x 7-1/2″.  (Card bases are made with two pieces of 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ paper scored and glued as in this Hinge Video.
  2. Cut/Emboss Spellbinders 5 x 7 Matting Basics A #7 from cream cardstock, adhere directly to card base.  Band ribbon around these layers taping in front.
  3. Cut/Emboss Spellbinders Labels 39 Decorative Accents from red cardstock, adhere with one layer of foam tape
  4. Cut/Emboss Spellbinders Fleur de Elegance from cream cardstock.  Slice off both sides then cut remaining piece in half (see below).  Adhere to previous layer.
  5. Cut/Emboss Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A #4 and #7 at the same time, from cream cardstock, creating a frame.
  6. Mat and adhere to red paper cut just a scan 1/8″ larger. Place a band of ribbon around these layers taping in back.  Adhere to card base with one layer of foam tape.
  7. Cut/Emboss Spellbinders Regal Frame.  Adhere to card base using two layers of foam tape in areas that will be hidden.
  8. Cut/Emboss A2 Matting Bascis A #3 from cream cardstock.  Stamp sentiment.  Adhere to card base with two layers of foam tape.
  9. Glue corner pieces from Regal Frame to the top and bottom of sentiment panel.
  10. Tie a bow and glue to left side of card.
  11. Cut/Emboss Spellbinders Layered Poinsettia smallest flower, twice.  Burnish to plump and glue with leaves staggered.  Adhere to bow and add pearl.
  12. Embellish with pearls.

Gift Bracelets by Becca Feeken - www.amazingpapergrace.comWell, okay then.  So many of you were curious about the bracelets I made that I thought I would change up and include a post here about my real world gift giving :-)  I attempted to take pictures before these were whisked off to my party last weekend but I didn’t think they were blog worthy, so I discarded the the pictures.  Back into the trash bin on my computer to find something to give you an idea of what I made.  So here is a picture in my dining room as I wrapped the gifts.

First of all the bracelets are made with leather and cup chain and wrapped with waxed cotton cord; I learned to make this bracelet at Spellbound 3.  I have to admit that at first I didn’t think this was my style until I put it on and felt the sparkle!  These bracelets are so trendy right now and combined with the fact that they are so simple to make, they passed my test for “can I persevere through twelve of them??”  I was delighted when I went to my local beading store for supplies, and she had her own version, so I altered mine to be a combination of  what I learned and several that I had seen online – here’s a step by step tutorial published online so that you can see what was involved with this quick project – http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-make-a-rhinestone-and-leather-wrap-bracelet.html

Gift Bracelets by Becca Feeken - www.amazingpapergrace.com
So how to package these without having to spend a ton of money?  I went to the Dollar Tree and found these little glass bowl packaged four for a $1.00.  Off to Walmart to buy tinsel garland to serve as the bed to put the bracelets on for $.99.  Off to Joanns for Wilton 4″ x 9.5″ Clear Cellophane Party Bags – for 25 they were $1.99.  Around the aisle at Walmart for mini-bows @$.99.  I printed off  “She Sparkles Everywhere She Goes” (that just makes me smile) and included it as a little card that holds the bracelet in place.   I slipped the little bowls each inside a cellophane bag and secured with a twisty tie while punching 1″ circles from silver glitter paper to include as a tag.

Lol, I hadn’t planned to share, but since you asked…. Just a little peek into the craftiness that goes along with the cards I make.  These women have been friends for many years and they have such sweet crafty souls – indeed they sparkle everywhere they go!  We do all this not because we’re picking up another hobby (necessarily) but because ya have to make something to go “with” the card, right?  Thanks for asking about my crafty endeavors, I loving sharing with you all and will see you soon!!

Question Parking Lot:

Becky Green on Comment #10 asked how the bracelets fasten – yep, it’s the button.  It pretty much has to be a shank button but it makes for a nice closure and I have lots of them in my stash ;-)

Hi Becca. Thank you for sharing, I was curious : ) The bracelets are gorgeous, I will be having a go, again thank you for the instructions. And what a great way to package them up! I love it. You prove that we don’t have to spend a fortune on the wrapping for something to look wonderful, and your friends have a cute little bowl to keep as well, brilliant idea that I will be using : ) Take care.ReplyCancel

Love this idea. I don’t like to venture to far outside my ‘card making craft’, but you’re right….it would be nice to have a gift to give with the card. I will have to take a look at the tutorial and give it a go. Thanks for the idea, the tute and sharing your talents with us :) Sending a hug and a wish for you to have a wonderful, Merry Christmas. Oh my gosh these are so pretty! Your friends are so lucky, what a thoughtful gift. I especially like your attention to detail when wrapping them for giving. I would love to learn to make jewelry, but the card making supplies have already overtaken my space, so I hesitate. Thanks for showing these Becca,ReplyCancel

Your bracelet is gorgeous. I would love to see a tutorial on “YOUR” bracelet and a list of supplies. When I checked where I buy my beading supplies they didn’t have waxed cord to match the leather cord. Did you use two thicknesses of leather instead of the waxed cord. Wish I had seen your project earler my daughter- in- law is allergic to metal and this would have been a great gift for her. TFS and Merry Christmas my friend hugs AnnReplyCancel
