Christmas Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken Using JustRite Christmas Vintage Labels Seven and Spellbinders
Good morning sweet friends, we’re on a Christmas roll!  Thanks so much for your encouraging words yesterday about conquering the Christmas rush to get cards done.  I’m a hopeless “fly by the seat of your pants” planner at Christmas time, so what in the world will my family think when I’m ahead of the game this year?  Will wonders ever cease?  So today I’m popping in with a short post and a Christmas Card using JustRite Christmas Vintage Labels Seven.
Christmas Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken (Close Up)
I started out the a kraft card base and added a design paper panel matted with gold foil (Die Cuts With A View) and added May Arts Silk Ribbon across the bottom with a sash of velvet ribbon on top and the same velvet ribbon in the corner.  Then I added Spellbinders Majestic Squares (stenciled with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink), then on top added Spellbinders Elegant Ovals in gold then on top added JustRite Vintage Labels Seven where I stamped the lovely holly motif and added a sentiment in the center.  To finish I popped a bow on top and decorated the bow with Spellbinders Holly Twigs and Leaves, a Bazzill Button and three gold pearls.  To finish up I painted my triple pearl pin with a red Spectrum Noir Marker for a pop of color.

Love the layers – the velvet ribbon edging and really love that bow – wow! It’s reather humid and wet here today – not really in the C Card making mood yet – but I like to get the designs I will do and the buy the kit required so when the weather turns cooler and the festive mood hits me everything is ready to get on with it – so probably Sept/Oct before the doing mode kicks in – thanks for sharingReplyCancel

Christmas Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using JustRite Signs of Christmas
Just as the craft stores are starting to put out Christmas decorations (yes, I said Christmas decorations), I have some cover to throw out a little arrangement of my own.  I’m so thankful that there are some crafters that work on this year round.  Me?  I’m a last minute Lucy so I’m tickled when I can share a Christmas card.  Thanks for peeking in to today blog friends, I’m sharing a card from new releases with JustRite Papercraft using the Signs of Christmas set.  I just love the sign pole/light pole and used it on my card, fully making use of the svg cut files but die hard fussy cut fans can certainly have a go at it too.
Signs of Christmas by Becca Feeken (close up)
I cut the post and sign before stamping with Versafine Black Onyx and embossing with clear embossing powder.  The filigree background is one of my favorite EK Success Punches (Scroll Pattern) and in my video in the shown link,  I show you how you can make this Bordered Filled Background.  I added a bow and glittered flower from the Michaels $1 Bin and glued some bells to the inside of the flower.  (I’m such a bell lover :-) and plan to use them often this season).  Oh and I spend a ton of time always trying to find the “right” paper . . . that’s one of the reasons I’ll print off a piece of digital paper in a heartbeat.  At this very moment I can’t remember where I got this music paper but when I figure it out, I’ll fill in the details.  I made this card last month and didn’t write the details down because I was confident I’d remember . . . well, you see how that turned out.

Accessories: SVG Signs of Christmas Digital Cut File Download for CR-02062, EK Success Scroll Pattern Large Edger Punch, Pearls,  May Arts Ribbon – Red, Jingle Bells – Michaels, Glittered Flower – Michaels

    Good morning Becca,
I am one of the fussy cut people a) because if there has to be white border around then i like an even border but b) i don’t have a fancy cutting machine so see (a). I think though on your beautiful card that the white border around the black of the post just adds to your card and helps the post shine through. I am with you on bells Becca as i love the tinkle from them. I found a wire heart covered in them very cheap in Dunelms so did what all good crafters do and took it to bits to use the tiny bells. The wire heart i have kept to make into a vintage piece so everything is for a purpose.
    Take care dear lady,

Project Making Ideas by Becca Feeken - Birthday Date Keeper - using Spellbinders Typewriter
Good morning sweet friends, hide your eyes and look away if you don’t want to be enabled today, ha-ha!!  You know I’m totally in love with the whole typewriter concept and I’ve done a couple of cards and such that were simply a joy to kick about on my craft table.  Today is another one of those projects: a.total.joy.  What I have today is a Birthday Date Keeper.  You might ask why?  Well in the grand scheme of iphones, computers and clouds, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve lost my birthday calendar :-(  I’ve decided that cloud or no, I can’t afford to lose the list again so I’m going to do it the old fashioned way of keeping it manually.  (Written word :-))
Project: Birthday Date Keeper

I started out with two pieces of matboard for a cover.  I have to admit, I went through my paper stash twice looking for paper; I knew exactly what I wanted.  Since I didn’t find it, I made it myself by using a typewriter font and printing it out with my printer.  Yes, what I dreamed about exists somewhere, I just couldn’t find it :-)  My printed typewriter print is matted with red to make it pop. The focal element is Spellbinders Typewriter.  I wanted a long curving piece of paper to look like it was coming out of the typewriter so I cut it with Spellbinders A2 Curved Borders One – cut one side then measure and cut second side.  I used the JustRite Typewriter Sentiments set (you can see all the releases for this month HERE) and stamped multiple times with Happy Birthday for my Birthday Date Keeper.  Really the front is quite simple…I added pearls and a tassel.
Project: Birthday Date Keeper using We R Memory Keepers Envelope Board
I used matboard so that the notebook would stand up on my desk and I can flip a month back and work on birthday card.  The tabs are made using the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Board.  There are 12 tabs and they were easily labeled by just typing out the names of the months in the same font and guing them in place.  I also glued some of the print paper on each divider for decoration.
WRBF-4351-2014
I also made my own line paper but a couple of pieces of notebook paper work marvelously for the inside.  For the binding I used a small machine called Plastikoil PBS 11 punch.  I’ve had it forever and picked it up at an expo – it’s just as easy to use a Cinch or any binding system you already have.  I used it to punch each of the matboard pieces, each divider and the lined paper.
Project: Birthday Date Keeper by Becca Feeken
That’s it, I’m all set – my birthdays are finally going to be organized!!

Now for the enabling part!  Please be sure to stop by the designers below and see what “type” of stuff they cooked up!!  Oh and also, JustRite is have a huge die sale.

Question Parking Lot:

Becky Green, in comment #33 asked what I used to cut my matboard.  I used my Cutterpillar Pro cutter.  I also have a heavy duty Carl Cutter (DC-250) that will cut matboard.  Without either of these, I would simply use a metal ruler and exacto knife :-)

I made something similar a couple years ago for family gifts. I called it a perpetual birthday calendar. I started out making one for myself and decided it would be a good thing for my mom and my father-in-law. Then I added my 3 sons, and my sisters and brothers and then my in-laws, etc. (You get the idea). Each side of the family had their own lists! When I was finished I had made about 25 of them.ReplyCancel

I have one of these I purchased awhile back & it IS a saver!!! I too put things on my computer calendar & they disappear! Sometimes I want to smash this thing! LOL But, no worries about loosing “important” things…not even tutorials! If I find something I like, I copy it, even if it’s by hand to a small 3 x 5 card, & then I file it away! :D

Your little Calendar is BEAUTIFUL BECCA!!!! :D NICELY DONE!!!!!!!!!!ReplyCancel

After seeing the box you made with this typewriter on top, I had to have that die. I was thrilled to find it at Hobby Lobby. I made a few cards and now I will have to make this book. Red, black and white are a favorite color combination of mine.

Woman! You never fail to surprise me with a fabulous project when I open your post to welcome you into my home. Your creative imagination surpasses many and you are certainly a valuable asset to the companies you represent. I suggest you produce a book with all the projects you have presented since 2008. I have several 3″ binders with most of your projects so I can readily refer to the them for ideas and inspiration. I also share them with the stamping groups I meet with so everyone can ooooo and ahhhh over them. Thank you Lord for giving us this gifted woman.ReplyCancel

    Good evening Becca,
    It’s 7.56 p.m. in the UK.
This is absolutely fabulous (or Ab Fab). I have got to make one for me and my daughter who is absolutely hopeless about birthdays and anniversaries. I have to remind her all the time about family ones – and she uses a fancy phone a tablet, a kindle, a laptop and a desk computer. So it is not only older folk who need something like this – as suggested by Dorina D. (ha ha)
I learnt to type on an identical typewriter in 1957 but all the keys were blacked out and we learnt by looking at a chart on the desk, slightly to the left of the keyboard, and placed our fingers on the keys to work out where the correct keys were. We placed our fingers on the asdfg etc line. I still can’t type if I’m looking at the keyboard because it puts me off.
Thank you, take care, and God Bless and keep you. xxReplyCancel
