Birthday Card Making Ideas using Spellbinders A2 Tranquil Moments and JustRite Large Birthday Party Sentiments
Hi friends, I needed a Birthday Card in a pinch so this is what I came up with.  Yes from time to time I love a simple card:-).  A couple of layers then the addition of Spellbinders A2 Tranquil Moments and a sentiment using JustRite Large Birthday Party Sentiments and a bow and I’m done!!

Good morning sweet friends.  I can’t tell you how sad I was to learn of the passing of Maya Angelou yesterday.  A woman of such confidence and grace, she touched my heart with the example she set.  I admired her greatly because she was so comfortable being herself and her soul overflowed with the type of true and uncanny wisdom that poured out elders that I’ve respected in my lifetime.  Her vernacular was that of a generation past and as a gatherer and lover of quotes, I wept because I’m so grateful to have been so inspired.   She was a treasure and will be missed.
Friendship Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using JustRite Twisted Fleur

Today I’m sharing a friendship card.  It’s pretty simple and uses a wonderful new background from JustRite Papercraft called Fleur Twist and the sentiment is from the True Friends Vintage Labels Four set.  I topped it with Spellbinders Labels Thirty Seven (turned upside down) and created filigree within the shape using Spellbinders A2 Bracket Borders One.  The labels shape is embellished with Spellbinders Twisted Metal Tags and Accents and the bottom left hand corner is embellished with the tag from Spellbinders A2 Divine Eloquence.  I finished off with hand dyed ribbon using the same ink color I stamped with.

    I too was sadden to learn of the death of Maya Angelou. She was an inspiration to so many people. She proved that having a troubled childhood does not have to follow you for the rest of your life. She rose above every thing that life had thrown at her with pride and dignity. She never let anyone or anything stop her she just found different ways to overcome the situation. Her quotes were so apt and meanful and provoked deep thought. She was not frightened or ashamed by her past and what people thought about her. I thank God for giving us Maya and the gift she had for touching and enriching our lives.

    Loved the card. Perhaps you could design could have a set of stamps with meanful quotes in honour of Maya

Friendship Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Shuttered Window and Window Four
Hiya friends!  Hopefully the second time will be a charm in getting a winner for the Clear Case Blog Candy.  Stay tuned to the end of my post.  In the meantime a cheery ‘Hello Friend’ card using all older dies except this precious new window, Spellbinders Shuttered Window.  It’s my favorite kind of card because I can take a new die and mesh it with the classic Spellbinders core shapes you already have in your stash :-)  Did I mention I love windows?   I guess you know by now even though I use a lot of large sentiments, I have a thing for tiny tags.  Quick tip:  Create a card using all the sweet stuff you pile on the front – great dies, flowers, cute buttons – then when you need a card simply put a one, two or three word sentiment on with a little tag – you’ll never be caught empty handed!

Friendship Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken

Here’s how I made it – step by step:

Start with a card base using Spellbinders Enchanted Labels Twenty Eight and simply cut off the bottom to give it a different look – you can see my tutorial on How To Make Hinged Card Bases.  Next layer up add Spellbinders Labels Twenty Eight and cut the bottom off using Spellbinders A2 Bracket Border One – adhere using double foam tape.  Cut design paper with Spellbinders Labels Twenty Eight then cut off top and bottom using clean edge bracket piece from A2 Bracket Border One set – adhere using foam tape.  Next layer up add Spellbinders Window Four (I covered the back of my window so my design paper would not show through), adhere using foam tape.  Next layer up add Spellbinders Shuttered Window.  Add bow, flowers, button, pearls and hang sentiment tag from bow using Spellbinders Back to Basics Tags.

    I was looking and looking for a link to your Question Parking Lot and couldn’t find any. I have to assume you ask the question here!

    When you say to use the double sided foam tape to raise the layer. Do you just use small pieces of foam tape or do you run a line of the foam all the way around the layer? I know this might seem a stupid question but was just wondering.ReplyCancel

    Hey Becca – I love all of your cards!!! While I have been involved with other crafts from age 6 (51 now) I am new to card making. I am a pastor’s wife and often have opportunities to encourage someone via cards so I am so excited about getting into this. Your cards are a great example for me because they are not only beautiful but they are uplifting and encouraging. Thank you for all you do to bring us these examples and to teach us the associated techniques. You are an “amazing” lady.
    I have one question for you. I have seen in some of your posts that the Becca Bow was made available for sale. I admit that I am a TERRIBLE bow maker and would love to purchase one. However, I can no longer find them for sale anywhere. Are there any that I can still purchase either through a retailer or you directly?ReplyCancel
