Mothers Day Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Heirloom Legacy and Quietfire Design
Greetings Blog Friends!  Guess what’s right around the corner?  Yep!  Lol, don’t let it sneak up on you.  What better occasion than Mother’s Day to savor your favorite colors or hers and get totally girly with it?  (Hold on Dad, we have something totally manly up our sleeves for you too, next month!)  You know me, mine was destined to be pink with lots of filigree and corners hidden in there somewhere.  So my card today uses three dies, Spellbinders 5×7 Heirloom Legacy,  Spellbinders Antique Corner and Spellbinders Labels Four.

WRBF-4261-2014
Beginning with a 5-1/2″ x 7-1/2″ card base, I simply cut my Heirloom Legacy and nestled both corners on opposite sides, anchoring with a glue dot.  Once secured I turned over and added foam tape.  My beautiful sentiment from Quietfire Design called the Happy Family Days set, is stamped onto Labels Four.  After a bow and six small pearls, this is on the way to my sweet mom to let her know I’m thinking about her!  She certainly won’t know what to think, because this year (stop the presses) I’ll be early!!

Where in the world would be with out our Moms!!  So inquiring minds want to know…this year are you sending your Mom (or some sweet woman in your life) a card that is hand made or curated from a special collection from a store?  Just so you know, I  actually do send store bought cards too – no shame :-)  I’ll see you soon!

Beautiful card Becca! Thank you for sharing and being such an inspiration. I only send handmade cards for friends and family. I don’t think I’ve bought one in over 15 years! I don’t get cards though, many people don’t take the time to pick a card out. Even so, it is a joy to me to make them and share them. My Mom has every card I’ve made her, says she keeps them in a large hatbox I decorated for her a few years ago, that alone makes it worth it all.

Hi Becca. Your Mom will be delighted with this beautiful card. It is so pretty. Sometimes life means that a store bought card is needed, unless you are super super organised, and I’m not! It makes me feel better that you too use them sometimes. It is hard to find really nice cards in the stores in England though, and most cards over here are really expensive! That’s another reason why I love to make my own. Take care.ReplyCancel

Great card. I love the way you put the Spellbinder die cuts together. That is an art I haven’t mastered yet.

I have not bought a store bought card for 10 years – since I started stamping. My family expects handmade cards from me and I get my joy out of making them.

The recipients of your cards should consider themselves very lucky. They are always so beautiful – real works of art.ReplyCancel

Your Mum will love this I’m certain!
Sadly my Mum passed away 16 years ago and I miss her each and every single day. Eyes filling up as I type! She would have loved your creations, Becca.
I send handmade cards to all the special people in my life and rarely send anything not hand produced. Once, when pushed for time as we were going away, I sent a shop bought card to a young University student and he asked our youngest if he had offended me in any way!!
I have a huge stash of cards, as we fundraise at Church, but you’ll often find me burning the midnight oil making a ‘special’ card – which reminds me that I have to make 4 for tomorrow! Actually – make that 5!!
    Hugs

    Good afternoon Becca,
What is wrong with pink? My daughter thinks everyone should have a bit of pink in their lives. What a beautiful card you have made Becca that any mother would be so happy to receive, but having said that a mother is happy to receive any hand made gift that her child gives her because it was made with love from the heart. I hope all our american mothers(and fathers who have been that mum and dad to their children) have a lovely day today with the people that love them the most.

Friendship Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using QuietFire Design - Friends are Those Rare People and Spellbinders Elegant Labels Four
Greetings sweet friends!  I’m back to share a friendship card with you today – you can never have enough of these, right?  And believe it or not, this is an easy peasy card because it is made with just dies – no other cut panels other than my card base.  I reached into my stash for a sweet sentiment from Quietfire Design called Friends Are Those Rare People

Easter Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Divine Eloquence and Labels Twenty Eight
Happy Easter sweet friends. Blessing go out to you and yours as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He is risen!
I pulled together a small quick card that celebrates with a simple Hallelujah. I hope you are celebrating surrounded by friends and family!

Easter Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Divine Eloquence and Labels Twenty Eight (close up)

For many of you who have followed me for years, today is John’s birthday.  It carries a different significance for me than the days when it was tangled with the pain of grief.  Yes, there is still grief but I smile and feel warm inside as I think of him today.  He’s been on my mind much lately as I can now open his notes, his wallet, his calendar and other things that have been set aside for years – they were like Kryptonite to me.   This week I read special notes he made on my birthday and our anniversary, thoughts flood in.  I’m not gifted in florals at all, but I created a beautiful arrangement for him earlier this week.  As Easter arrives I’m reminded, joyfully, that life is more powerful than death.

CRAFT SUPPLIES I USED
Rubber Stamps: Stampabilities – Lords Prayer, Hallelujah
Craft Paper: Neenah Classic Crest – Natural White – 80 lb

Accessories: Spellbinders Labels Twenty Eight, Spellbinders Divine Eloquence, 5×7 Heirloom Legacy, May Arts Silk Ribbon, Recollections Flower, The Paper Studio Pearls, Grand Calibur Die Cut Machine

May joy and hope be yours today!  Bless you!!

Becca, thanks for sharing the always lovely card with us today. It was so good to read this particular post on today of all days. I’m so thankful for you, that time has eased your pain a mite, as it is so true that Everlasting Life has such power over Death. You had a wonderful gift in having John with you on earth for the years that you had, but I’m sure you know by now, that he is still with you…just in another way. It’s good you can relive the precious times with the notes & cards, and know that you’ll be together again in God’s own time. Hugs & Blessings. Happy EasterReplyCancel

Such a beautiful card and wonderful memories coming back to you!
Tomorrow is my birthday, also the Queen!

God gives us time to heal, and each heals at their own pace. He blessed you with someone whom you obviously loved – and sometimes it’s hard to know why He takes them away when we aren’t ready. Yet, we know through the Risen Savior that this life is only a moment, and that your John is now out of pain, free of grief and sorrow, and serving the Master.
May this Easter bring you joy as you celebrate our life eternal, and peace as you can enjoy the memories without the intense pain.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca. Happy Easter from New Zealand. Your card is beautiful. I so relate to you and the pain and sorrow that you went through with John. I lost my husband 16years ago and the helplessness that you feel watching him suffer was awful. But they are both pain free now and that is a blessing. Our children were 16, 14 and 11 and they suffered a lot with the loss. But 16 years on we have lots of wonderful memories and bouts of sadness when a milestone happens and he is not there to share like graduation and grandchildren. Becca enjoy the wonderful memories, have a great Easter and happy birthday to John.ReplyCancel

Amen Sweet Becca, Amen! Your post brought a smile and a tear as I too remembered your love of John and your grief at his loss. As so often happens, when we lose a loved one, there comes a time when we are finally able to smile and even laugh when we remember them. It’s 44 years since I lost my dad and there are still times when I cry from missing him. But there are times when I smile or even laugh at some memories of him, and the times we had together. Now, so many years later, I’ve even had a big, belly laugh as I remembered some of the stories that we told about him. One of my favorite is when I was but two or three and my mom and dad were not married yet, (he was my step dad), when we were in KY at my moms sister’s house and he experienced his first out house! City boy don’t you know! lol Well, he got up in the night and made the trip to ‘the little house’ (as he called it). When he opened the door there were a dozen pair of red eyes staring back at him. He just knew he’d been confronted with demons! He woke the whole house when he came running back in! You can imagine his reaction when they told him some of the chickens roosted there if they could get in… So, Fred, remember to latch the door when you come out! LOLOLOL It still makes me laugh out loud!

Dad went home on Palm Sunday morning. With the sun streaming in on him as he lay there. Yes I still cry, but more often now, I remember his chuckle and the gleam in his eyes, and smile happily at the memory of it.
I hope that now you are able to smile, first, when you remember John. And if not now… soon.
Happy Easter and yes, HE IS RISEN!!!
    Hugs, JessReplyCancel

We lost our first child at just a few months old; we had no Lord at that time to ease and comfort and give hope and new sight. It was another ten years before we knew the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. He alone put healing salve on those terrific memories. Yes, grief is always there but as you said so beautifully expressd here, that the loss is no longer crippling or paralyzing. Only the love of God can do such a thing as exchange hope for sorrow. The amazing thing about it all now is that I know soon when that last trumpet has sounded in a split second I will see my precious daughter. Oh He has risen indeed! Just a beautiful card to share on this day. Thank you.ReplyCancel

    Good evening Becca,
isn’t it funny how there are certain things that you just remember automatically, the Lord’s Prayer being one of them. This is a staple from my childhood and even yet that i come back to so many times. I love the card you have made for us today because of the good memories that you have brought back to me. All i can say about your beloved John is that if you keep him in your heart and mind, no one can ever take away the memories that you had together, that you shared, the happiness and laughter that surrounded you both. I am glad that you have reached a point that you can now look through his things and bring a small smile to your heart.

    Dear Becca

Love your card and was just wondering how you managed to do the double filigree die on both side – have I missed this. you have probably shown this before.

My first mother–in-law died on Mother’s Day here in England and although her son and I broke up approximately 25 years ago we decided to remain friends and family. I had known her for 35 years and she has always been supportive of me. I saw her on the day she died and am missing her. I take comfort from a saying that would be great if you could put this on your next sentiment stamp design (hint hint) ‘ Do not be sad because he/she is gone but be happy that they lived’. As you think about John and all the happy memories that you had be happy that you and the rest of his family and friends were there to share them with him. Blessings are given to us all in abundance we just need to open our eyes and see.

    Blessing to you

    Regards

    CareenReplyCancel
