Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Silhouette and Spellbinders Labels Thirty Six
Good morning friends, I can hardly wait for March 31 when we kick off Spellbinders Shipping Frenzy!  I’m excited because I have a tutorial to share with you but I’m equally excited that you’ll have a chance to win die templates!  Just be sure to stop by on March 31 to get your name in the drawing!  In the mean time a feminine card to share today.  Silhouettes and cameos are my favorite so I wanted to make a vintage feel card using Spellbinders Silhouette, it’s a classic!  I’ve used Spellbinders Labels Thirty Six to place the silhouette and garland on and it is yet mounted on an accordian folded medallion.  I skimmed through my stash of stamps and found a My Minds Eye set – Honey Happiness Stamps – and it had a fabulous sentiment that I thought would fit wonderfully!  After stamping on Spellbinders Classic Ovals LG, I rimmed with gold pen to make it pop.  I’m in love with the music paper…it’s been calling my name for a while so I’m tickled to use it in a project.
Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Sillhouette (closeup)
I have to gush a little bit about a recent find that made my heart sing!  While shopping in Hobby Lobby I came across a stack of ‘aged’ paper tied in a bundle sitting in a random display – there were only one or two.  I’m certain that it was meant to be a knick knack of some sort but when I fanned through the paper, it was absolutely delicious with aging on the edges of each piece.  It came home with me to use on cards and such; I can’t wait to try to make flowers with it!!   The top pages look like they’ve been tea dyed and the center pages are not pristine, they have some stains on them but it sure won’t bother me.  It’s a wispy thin paper kind of like rice paper…I never really care if it’s acid free or not on things I use for cards – I’m sure this is not acid free.  At any rate, I put a picture of the stack below.  I used this paper in my pleating above and the Labels 36 layer.  This Aged Hobby Lobby paper is 6″ x 9″ –  I know it’s hard to tell in the picture.

    Hi Becca,
As one of your fans from the UK ! I just loved the name Hobby Lobby!
You didn’t need to know that – but you do now! I, too , love to find things in unusual places. My best find was a bag of buttons! I paid just over a pound for a large bag of the most beautiful buttons – they had obviously been someone’s pride and joy!
Your card is lovely and I love cameos! Your musical script paper is lovely and your sentiment, bow and button! I should just have said I liked it all!
Tomorrow, Sunday is Mothering Sunday here. Happy Mothering Sunday to all Mums and Grandmas in the States! PS we also move our clocks forward one hour after midnight! Then we have BST – British Summer Time – ha ha !
    God Bless,
    Myra

Good evening Beautiful Becca! I have a question. I’ve looked through the tutorials regarding bows and don’t see anything that refers to the type of bow you used on the card (3/9/14) Wonderful or similar to the one used today. I’ve tried myself and end up with a mess. Any hints or tips? Also, I’d love to know the color of the May Arts ribbon you used on the 3/9 card.

Several months ago I asked you to guide me as to the dies I should buy first and you made a wonderful suggestion and at Christmas my children chipped in and gave me a few gift cards that promptly went to Spellbinders and JustRite! I am once again ready to place another order for some of the magnificent dies Spellbinders released in January – Valiant Honor, Divine Eloquence, Feathers, Tranquil Moments, Belly Band One, Romantic Rectangles 2, etc. Spellbinders makes it very hard to only choose a few!

Thanks Becca for all you do and I hope your Spring is blessed with sunshine, laughter and lots and lots of flowers. God Bless you and keep you safe.ReplyCancel

Sympathy Card Making Idea by Becca Feeken using JustRite Baroque Frame Background and Spellbinders Decorative Labels Thirty Four
Today I want to share some news about an important date that’s coming but first a sympathy card to add to your portfolio.  I always say easy and truly this card was less than an hour from concept to finish.  That means, when you go to make it, it will be lickety split.  This puts me a card ahead in my stash – a sad occasion to be ready for but I have to admit that sometimes the weight of the occasion puts a damper on my creativity hence the inspiration to work ahead.  The simplicity of this card centers around this gorgeous flower from the $1.00 bin at Michaels this week.  The flower is huge so I divided it in half by pulling out the center to use later — that left me this large center which is coincidentally large enough to nestle a sentiment.  For the card background I’m using JustRite Papercraft Baroque Frame Background and small stackable sentiments from Magnolia Vintage Labels Seven.
WRBF-4184-2014
To highlight the gold embossing on the background and make the flower pop,  I used Spellbinder Luscious Labels One cut with gold foil.  The inside of the flower was large enough to cradle Spellbinders Decorative Labels Thirty Four and my sentiment stamped on Spellbinders Labels Thirty Four.  I finished off with a double bow and a skinny loopy bow on top.   Hint:  I used triple layers of foam tape to raise the sentiment up level with the petals of the flower.  Whew, that’s it!

An Important Date is Coming!!

You will be thrilled to know… that all the new die templates by Spellbinders are getting ready to ship!!  I know, right?!!  Well, that’s *definitely* cause for a celebration so please promise me you’ll be here on Monday, March 31st, and if you peek you’ll see my post up before 12:00am….  Now that your dies are being put in the mail, I want you to be ready for your next project.  That means I’ll have a large step-by-step tutorial for you to break those new dies in.  It’s an easy project similar to those you all always request but the wonderful thing is – it will show you yet another way to use those new dies!!   It will be a week of inspiration so clear your desk :-)  What celebration would be complete without a contest?  Yep!  Bring it!!  You can win dies, so get yourself over here on March 31st!!

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design Garden Delights and Spellbinders Antique Corner and Wonderful Locket
Greetings friends!  If I said the word “Spring” would you that help you understand where my mind has been?  Yes, you are probably there too, so ready for spring!!  Today I’m sharing a pastel card (big surprise there) that matches the kind of mood I’m in.  My post is short today, but this card is so very simple – no need for me to drone on.  The top layer is made using Spellbinders Classic Oval LG and the layer below that – delicate and pink is made using Spellbinders Wonderful Locket.  The final layer in all its frilly glory is four cuts of Spellbinders Antique Corner arranged so that the point of all four corners meets in the middle.  That’s it!!

I’m using a sentiment from Quietfire Design from the Garden Delights set . . . so sweet!

    Good morning Becca,
Oh how i do so much enjoy your cards that you make as they are always so pretty and girly most of the time as i know you do try to include the opposite species of humans sometimes.I always admire the filigree work that you are so good at doing and bring out the beautiful aspects of the dies. My only thing is you don’t come on often enough to satisfy greedy people like me that so enjoy your style, sorry.Hope you have a lovely day Becca,
Love and crafty hugs from this side of the Atlantic

Becca, your bows just leave me breathless; they are soooo beautiful. Is it possible to still purchase your bow-tying device with the DVD how-to’s? I know, I waited too long and now I cannot find it at ODB. Would you be so kind as to tell me how, if at all possible, we can purchase it or even just the DVD?

Thank you for your help and keep posting your heavenly art.ReplyCancel
