Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Majestic Labels Twenty Fiive, Fleur de Lis Squares, Flourish Corners and Bird Banner
Greetings friends! I wanted to slip in today with a card for my stash that I wanted to share. The paper is so lovely and I cringe that I covered it up as much as I did but I had a series of dies I really wanted to use. I started out using  Spellbinders Majestic Labels Twenty Five with Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Squares  inside (Spellbinders Classic Squares SM) helped me make it a frame too).  Tucked in the upper and lower corners of the square I filled in with Spellbinders Corner Flourish.  I couldn’t resist the little birdie on the banner so I placed Spellbinders Bird Banner on the inside which is stamped with a Wordsworth sentiment.   Lastly the flowers on my bow are created with Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms.

WRBF-4149-2014
My card today users older dies except for one, so I’m happy to share the how-to cause you can make it now.  By the way, the I added the gold birdie by just cutting the die an additional time and snipping it off from the banner.  With Corner Flourish, I positioned each flourish underneath my frame and snipped off the excess – I love that inside look!

You Can Make This Card Too:  Start out with a hinged card base sized 5-1/2″ x 7-1/2″.  Here are the rest of the layers from the bottom up.  Foam tape to lift gold mat layer cut to 5-1/4″ x 7-1/4″, design paper layer cut to 5-1/8″ x 7-1/8″, double layer of foam tape (I use Scotch 3M Foam tape that is 1/16″ thick) to lift frame cut using Majestic Labels Twenty Five, quadruple layer of foam tape to lift Fleur de Lis Square embellished with two Corner Flourishes.  Quadruple layer of foam tape to lift Bird Banner placed in center of square.  Frame embellished by loopy bow and embellished with flowers made from Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms (1 of each flower).  Embellish with pearls.

CRAFT SUPPLIES I USED
Rubber Stamps: Wordsworth
Craft Paper: Neenah Classic Crest – Smooth – Natural White, Gold Poster Board (Hobby Lobby), K and Company
Ink: Victorian Velvet Distress Ink, Versafine – Onyx Black
AccessoriesSpellbinders Majestic Labels Twenty Five, Spellbinders Fleur de Lis SquareSpellbinders Corner FlourishSpellbinders Bird Banner, Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms, Spellbinders Classic Squares SMRecollections Pearls, May Arts Silk Ribbon, Grand Calibur Die Cut Machine

I have been so busy at home, and sadly my craft room is in shambles.  I hate that because I work best with a tidy area.  I feel a spring cleaning coming on – heaven only knows what I’ll find.  I hope all is well in your sweet world!

Great card yet again – love the bitty blossoms dies – they are a fave along with Elegant Labels 4 and some others! Enjoy the spring clean – a good tidy up and sort out just has to be done sometimes – it’s quite therapeutic I find if you get in the mood beforehand! The time defintely pays dividends later on – although sometimes I move things to ‘special places’ and then a few months later…. do you think I can remember where the ‘special place’ was? I can remember I put it in a ‘special place’ but then spend hours turning the house upside down till I find it – that really, really annnoys me!! This happened last week when I was trying to find the radio charger lead – I found it in a saucepan cupboard of all places – what was I thinking?!! The lead is now labelled and in the leads draw along with all the others – which are also labelled – as I would never know what charges what otherwise! Enjoy your tidy up!ReplyCancel

Such a pretty bow with those lovely flowers.
Happy spring cleaning! I thought spring had arrived early here in the UK as we have snowdrops, crocuses and the first blossom and daffodils out – and then after beautiful blue skies today, the clouds came over and we had a fierce hailstorm!
My grandmother always used to say – ‘Ne’er shed a clout till May is out’ – and I thought of that today.

    Good evening Becca,
thank you for making a beautiful card with dies that we have instead of them all being brand new as sometimes we just can’t run to a whole lot of new dies especially when you’re already running on a very limited budget. You have made a beautiful card that is also achieveable for us lesser mortals.

    Pretty, pretty card today Becca!
Today is my Sis’ birthday and ofcourse, I made her a pretty card. I started making Bity Blossoms flowers and explained in her card, these were one of my first attempts, but when I called her today, she made me feel “soooo good because she thought the bity blossoms were just lovely. Still have some practicing to do to get them as good as yours. But you have given some inspiration that I can do them. Had the dies for quite awhile before I made the attempt. Good luck with your spring cleaning – I am waiting to get quotes to enclose my screened in porch to make a craft room. Sooooo excited, I am about to jump out of my skin. At least I have sorted out all my “stuff” and have it in plastic containers and labeled so I am calling 2014 my year of organization.

I know what you mean about your craft room, it is amazing what you find when you tidy through. I tidied mine a couple of weeks ago, and tried to organise my dies, and found I had duplicated a few of them !!!! and I had done the same with some stamps too !!!! anyone would think I had money to waste haha, not !!!

Card making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Create A Rose and Romantic Rectangles Two
Hi there friends, I’m back.  Lol, I know you didn’t know I was even away; I went to the mountains for some family time.  Time with my sweet girl and Bailey was medicine for my soul.  Oh, and this Florida girl was snowed in for a couple of days.  Even though everyone else hated it, I was just like a little girl on Christmas morning.  It was beautiful – the scenery literally took my breath away!!  I don’t know why but whenever I’m standing outside in new snow, the crisp stillness of natures glory makes it seem like the whole world is holding its breath.   The icy blues and grays are a favorite palette, sigh!

WRBF-4146-2014

Today I’m sharing a card that I almost finished before I left, it was waiting for some final touches.  Actually I threw away my flower because it was my “playing around” version.  When I got back I pulled it out of the garbage can and decided to run with it.   My card is 5-1/2″ x 7-1/2″ built on a hinged base.  On top of that I layered a pretty embossed folder called Spellbinders European Tapestry.  My next layer is Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles Two with the second largest die turned 90 degrees on the next layer.  Next comes Spellbinders Fancy Tags Two with a sentiment from Wordsworth Stamps.  Lastly, my rose from Spellbinders Create A Rose on a bed of flourishes from Spellbinders Foliage Flourish.

Craft Paper: Neenah Classic Crest – Smooth – Natural White, Coredinations

So sorry for two consecutive posts using pinks, I made a group of cards at once and it was what was on my desk.  I’ll be changing up, I’ll see you soon!

What a lovely card! Glad you had a lovely break – even in the snow! I love looking at snow in which no one has walked! It reminds me of something written in Birthday Card by a friend when I was quite young! “The future lies before you like a sheet of carded snow; be careful how you tread it, for every step will show!” Very true! I have never forgotten it.

Oh my goodness this is so gorgeous Becca, and I just love it. You just always deliver, don´t you?
I think, you should try and come here and stay over a winter, then I´m pretty sure, you´ll get more than enough of that cold white stuff some people seems so facinated about. I must admit, I absolutely hate it, as it´s only equal troubles with traffic and problems getting out of here and water and heating and and and I sure wish I lived somewhere where it´s warm all year around, that´s for sure. But that´s probably typich isn´t it? We always want, what we don´t have, guess that´s very normal.
Hope you´ll have a wonderful day and lots of fun now.ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
Such a beautiful card but I’m totally confused – how DID you construct it?
There’s got to be a bit more to it other than what you wrote…….
Are you going to make a video at some point, or tutorial?

As for snow – I know what you mean about fresh snow – I’m a German-born girl of 67 yrs, and know just what you describe….. also LOVE the squeaky sounds that pristine but compacted (because so deep) snow makes when you walk on it. BUT after a month the enchantment fades………
    Hugs, RoseReplyCancel

  • Dorothy HarrsionFebruary 20, 2014 - 7:29 pm

First – don’t apologize for using pink – it’s a wonderful warm color in a very frigid winter!!!
So glad you enjoyed the snow and the winter! While we’re getting tired of it here in Maine (mostly the cold) this morning on my way to work I marveled at the blue/purple sky with the pink sunrise hitting the snow on the tree branches across the way on the hillside and thanked God for the beauty. In summer we don’t see the beauty of the tree branches – just leaves and leaves and leaves. And while I love the lush green – the tree branches coated in white is beauty in itself – white and gray… So I am glad you enjoyed the peacefulness of how the snow hushes the sound, how the air is crisp and clean….and cold… 8-)ReplyCancel

This is so pretty, Becca. It may be white paper on your end, but it looks like pistachio green on my ‘outer and it reminded me I really like that combination of a light minty or pistachio green and pink. Love this – great layers, great bow and great flower. I like it when it has snowed – everything looks really clean and the light is great – until it starts to thaw and you get all the grey mush everywhere! Although we’ve had the wettest winter of all time apprently here n the UK this year, we’ve had no snow where we are – so far anyway! Happy crafting.ReplyCancel

  • Patricia HowarthFebruary 21, 2014 - 2:09 am

Morning Becca, So glad you have managed some ‘family time’, I like seeing snow on cards, but whenever we get snow here, we can’t get out of our estate as we are on an incline and when the snow compacts it is like an ice rink, one January my hubby and I (at our ages) broke up all the ice on our road and moved it all just so that people could get out of the estate to go to work. I have to say that fresh snow is lovely to look at though haha.
Your card is stunning, as always, loving, loving, loving your rose – it is gorgeous.

    Good morning Becca,
I don’t care if its pink again as it is another beauty of wonder from you yet again. I love everything and especially the rose as i think it is so beautiful and so like a Peony Rose to me. I have some of the scent of Peony flowers that i would spray on it first before i gave it to the recipient. You have made it so life like that it does look so real.
I have the card to be able to start making it up, i just need all the dies and the embossing folder now.

    Hi Becca

Another stunning card today. I just love how you use layers to make up your cards, but they still look very delicate. By saying you used a hinged card, I assume that you mean a plain card with the fold on top instead of on the side, and not the hinged filigree that you have a tutorial for. Hope you had a lovely time away with your family. We have had so much rain in the uk and a lot of places are still flooded. I’d rather have snow than all this rain we have had. The rivers are over flowing round by us but luckily we are higher up so it doesn’t reach us.ReplyCancel

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Mediterranean Medallion Embossing Folder and JustRite Papercrafts Welcome Spring
Good Sunday Morning sweet blog friends – I hope your week was magnificent and that next week is stacking up for more of the same.  Today I’m participating in a fun blog hop with my team mates from the Spellbinders Blog Team.  We all just got together on our own and decided to post our creations on the same day, so there’s lots to see.   Today I have a card that uses an embossed background to enhance the shape of the dies layered on top – really it doesn’t get much easier than this and the detail of the embossing does all the heavy lifting.  I broke up my 5-1/2″ x 7-1/2″ base with a couple of layers topped with Spellbinders Mediterranean Medallion.  On the bottom of that layer I attached Spellbinders A2 Bracket Borders One, wrapping the excess around the edges.  The card is topped off with Spellbinders A2 Valiant Honor (stenciled with Victorian Velvet while still in the die), stamped with JustRite Papercrafts Welcome Spring and embellished with pearls and bows.

Just wanted to let you know…I sit here and scroll up and down….up and down looking at your cards. And I seem to do this for several minutes some times!!! I just realized that I do this…almost every time haha!!! I am thinking a quick video of your cards, holding it at different angles. You don’t have to do a lot of talking, just more so the depth and so forth can be seen. After who knows how many scrolls up and down I realized you put the ribbon under a piece of the die!! Spellbinders have so much detail, which is most likely why we all love and are obsessed with them (ok so I am) but I am sure I am not alone!!!
    Till next time Becca!
