Card Making Ideas using 2014 Spellbinders Tranquil Moments
Sweet friends, today is Valentines Day.  Love while you can.   I’m reminded this every day.  I’m thankful today that there are so many people I’m truly fond of.  There will always be a special place in my heart for my sweetie but there’s plenty of room for everyone – my family, my friends, the lonely lady I see in the grocery store – you know, everyone.   I was talking with my daughter last night and we found out that her sweet friends father passed away yesterday.  It had only been a week since they found out he had an aggressive cancer, and he was a doctor.  We were a little bit stunned, it happened so fast — it’s a steady reminder that today is what counts.  I hope you spread some Valentine cheer and let your loved ones know that you love them :-)  That leads to my card today – while it’s not a Valentines Day card per se (see yesterdays post), I love the sentiment.  It reminds me to stop being so darned preoccupied and breathe!!  This is the year that (already) I’ve found so much clarity in between the breaths.  I hope you do too…
WRBF-4141-2014
Even though it wasn’t so much intentional, I layered up my card with quite a few dies.  Starting with a base made using Spellbinders Fanciful Lattice, I built the next layer with Spellbinders Labels Twenty Nine (embossed with Framed Petite Labels)  followed by Spellbinders Labels Sixteen.  My final two layers are using Spellbinders Elegant Ovals and the center piece from  Spellbinders A2 Tranquil Moments.   My apologies on that sentiment, I went to link it up and cannot locate it so I’m pretty sure it has been retired :-)

Once again you´ve just made such a breathtaking card Becca, and I hear everything you say about this. You really don´t know, what tomorrow will bring, so better live today to the fullest, I totally agree. I too lost my mum to cancer in just 4 days. We found out wednesday when she felt soo tired and not well and already saturday morning she left this world, so it´s really unbelievable how fast these things can go, so yes please tell your loved ones every day, as we never know.
Hope you have a wonderful Valentines day too.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca , another very pretty card with your usual elegance.
I agree with all you say , it’s very easy to get caught up and not live each moment, as you get older you realise this. So here’s to looking up and sing beauty all around us- and even crafters need to pause and consider!!

    Good morning Becca,
What a beautiful card and so right in what it says. Todays world has everyone always moving and not stopping to enjoy the here and now. I know we only get one chance at life, but that is why it is all the more important to enjoy the small things as well as the big, the simple things as well as the complex. My heart goes out to your daughter to have the strength to help her friend as much as she can. It sometimes is just as simple as listening, but a true friend doesn’t care how many times she is called upon. It can take time to know that they are in a better place and a lot of healing, but after the tears i hope she listens for her father, because no one can take away where he will always remain, in her heart and her head.
Love and hugs sent to you and your daughter for the brave task that is before her,

  • Anne (UK)February 14, 2014 - 4:26 am

Such sad news, Becca, but I feel sure that your daughter will be just the right friend to help her through this, having faced a similar loss. I pray that she will be given the right words to help ease her friend’s pain. We must all remember to say those three little words – I love you – frequently to all those whom we love.
    A breathtaking card, Becca!
    Hugs

Hi Becca, A truly stunning card, and a fabulous sentiment. We all get caught up in things, we need to stop and take notice of the people around us, and tell them every day how much they mean to us. No-one knows what is around the corner, we need to make the most of the time we all have together. It is my hubby’s Birthday today, I made him a fabulous card (even if I say it myself haha) and have just made him a fabulous meal, and he got some great ‘surprise’ pressies.
    Happy Valentine’s Day everyone.

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design Always Kiss Me Goodnight and 2014 Spellbinders A2 Divine Eloquence
Hi there blog friends! I realized that in the new months of 2014 as we approach Valentines Day, I don’t think I have made more than one Valentines Card.  So, just before the big day I thought I would whip up a quick one.  My card today is an easy filigree card with a simple sentiment from Quietfire Design titled Always Kiss Me Goodnight. It need not be reserved for just Valentines Day, but for any day for your sweetie. I started out with a hinged filigree card base —>see my tutorial HERE, using Spellbinders Timeless Rectangles.  I layered (edited to add: I originally mislabeled this A2 Divine Eloquence, yikes, it is:…)  Spellbinders A2 Tranquil Moments on top and added my sentiment in the opening using Spellbinders Floral Ovals popped up on dimensional tape.

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using JustRite Home Bakery Labels and Vintage Tags
Hi there friends, I’m back for Day 5 of the JustRite Papercraft February releases and today my project centers around a very, very serious subject.  As a matter of fact when I sat down to write this post I wasn’t quite sure how to approach it.  I mean, when you see the card doesn’t one word sum it all up?  I’d say it does.  As a matter of fact, after a hard day, I’ve been known to use this word as an exclamation.  Yes, it’s true :-)  So no occasion necessary to send this card but once the recipient ‘gets it’, they’ll understand – just sayin’  The stamp set is Home Bakery Labels and  I alternated chocolate and cream layers with JustRite Vintage Tag Dies and Spellbinders Ornate Squares.

WRBF-4137-2014

Lol, the take ‘1’ by mouth is a hard instruction to follow.  When it comes to chocolate, who can eat just one?

This card says it all, with tongue in cheek, for a lot of situations. I love it.
I agree with those gals who posted a desire to know how to make these bows and how to adhere them to the card without them slipping off. I am liking the informal look of them a lot. Do love the colors especially ’cause I’m a monochromatic loving gal!ReplyCancel

I am especially fond of the cream and brown combo so this is top shelf in my book. If you guys go back and read all the blogs, I will tell you that anybody, even me, can make Becca’s beautiful bow creations if they just buy a BECCA BOWMAKER. Best investment I have made in a very long time.

I love all of your cards Becca they are all so delicate, I check out your blog every day and got your details from Sue Wilson here in the UK, you are certainly an inspiration. Thanks Liz Spooner.ReplyCancel

  • RoseFebruary 10, 2014 - 1:43 pm

    Hi Becca,
have been neglecting you these last few days because of Sue Wilson’s dies and she’s posting multiple cards of her collections on her blog every day. So of course, I want them all and keep drooling over the dies and the cards she has made.
But just had a peek at your blog and must say, your chocolate card today is lovely – simple elegance.
And I love what you’ve done with the Rose Postcard – what unexpected colour combos. I get so fed up when people think that roses must always be red/pink or any combination of the two……….
Keep inspiring us all – I love elegant cards.
    Hugs, RoseReplyCancel
