Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using New Spellbinders - A Gilded Life Belgian Lace
Sweet Blog Friends, I’m back again today!  Thanks so much for your kind words and prayers – as soon as our situation is resolved I’ll share what I learned, in the meantime I know to be patient.  Today I wanted to share a subtle vintage card I created.  It uses one of the new A Gilded Life Dies by Spellbinders called Belgian Lace and was a great opportunity for me to get a little bit techniquey.  This die is a long textured border that you can either use for texture or it can be wholly cut out.  What I did is construct a card using four of the cut out borders, which when reassembled made the card look like a frame.  You can’t really tell it’s a frame because I simply covered the opening of the frame with my stamped sentiment.  The aged color in the crevices were put there by an ink pad.  I swiped my ink pad across the surfaces before running through my Grand Calibur and it embeds the color into the crevices.  I tried all sorts of inks and depending on the look you want, most any ink will work although pigmented inks and some chalks work better.  The absolute hero for this card is Imagine/Crafts –  Tsukineko’s Delicata Ink.  Every time I ran the die through with ‘this‘ ink, I found myself audibly oooohing when I uncovered the results.

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using New 2014 Spellbinders - A Gilded Life Belgian Lace

The sentiment that I used was a from my Kit Club that is no more.  It’s one of my very favorites and it was meant for this card :-)  Although the stamp set is not currently available, popular items seem to wing their way back from the attic so let me know if it’s something you didn’t get and would like to see.  I used Spellbinders Radiant Rectangles to frame up the sentiment.

CRAFT SUPPLIES I USED
Rubber Stamps: Amazing Paper Grace Kit ClubIt’s Sew Vintage
Craft Paper: Papertrey Fine Linen Paper, Gold Poster Board

Accessories: Belgian LaceSpellbinders Radiant Rectangles, Recollection Pearls, Paper Source Satin Ribbon, May Arts Silk Ribbon, A Gilded Life Lace, jeweled button and corsage pin, Grand Calibur Die Cut Machine

Thanks friends!  You sure make crafting fun!!

Each day you are adding another marvelous card. I am really lovin’ these new S/B. The Gold Delicata is my favorite of the gold inks…better than the Brillance gold. Your picture frame is absolutely lovely and that sentiment is so right with this frame. The gold made it appear so very dimensional. TFS & HugsReplyCancel

Beautiful Becca, that ink truly sets it off nicely. After looking at the Belgian
Lace on Spellbinders its hard to tell for me that this is a die and not just an embossing plate, confusing. I dont see any cut lines like the regular Spellbinder dies in the photos.ReplyCancel

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using New 2014 Spellbinders 5 x 7 Mystical Embrace and Quietfire Design - When You Get to the End Good morning friends.  I’m really kind of tickled to show you my next project that’s going in the mail today.  We’re going through a family trial that is begging discouragement but I’m glad to report that we’ve aligned ourselves with the right soldiers where hope and faith prevail.  I’m helping my daughter, a strong and resilient young woman, who is steadfast in faith and has a determination that has taught me much the last several months.   We text and talk daily to keep the encouragement floating above our heads so I wanted to send on a framed saying that she can put on her desk to remind her that she is not alone.  I made her framed art with this When You Get to the End saying from Quietfire Design several years ago that is proudly displayed on her wall, but I wanted this to be close at hand.  To me it’s like pulling a tool out of my tool box – so appropriate for the occasion and it will be sure to lift her up.
Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using New 2014 Spellbinders 5 x 7 Mystical Embrace and Quietfire Design - When You Get to the End

The die template I’m using today is Spellbinders 5 x 7 Mystical Embrace, embellished with the flourish from Spellbinders Outrageous Butterfly.  Below I‘m showing you the back of the card.  It was constructed by cutting two of the large dies and scoring the backside of one die so that it will create a hinge for the card to open :-)

    Good morning Becca,
What a beautiful card/frame you have made for us yet again today. I hope that these dies are going to find their way across to Scotland as this must be the most beautiful of all that has been made to date. I just love this die as it is so elegant and can’t fail to make any card that is made truly beautiful. Please don’t think i’m being rude or cheeky as you do make absolutely wonderful inspirational pieces, but this die is in a league own. I think that even the beginner could make a beautiful card with this die, which gives all us normal ordinary people a glimpse of hope at turning out a presentable piece at the end of the process.

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using New 2014 Spellbinders A2 Divine Eloquence and new Quietfire Design
Good morning friends – it’s nothing less than glorious here and I hope that’s exactly the kind of day you have in store.  Today I thought I’d give you a sneak peek of a new 2014 Spellbinders die along with some brand spanking new romantic Quietfire Design stamps that are waiting to be stamped for someone you really care about (hint, hint, Valentines Day).   This sentiment is so very special — were my hubby here, he’d have this in a card from me in a red hot second.  I’ll be using this in some of my scrapbook pages for him :-)  The sentiment I’m using is called The Door was Marked You.

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using New 2014 Spellbinders A2 Divine Eloquence and new Quietfire Design (closeup)

I pulled together a vintage card with some ribbon I dyed recently and some vintage flowers I picked up on my trip to California in November.  Yes, you do spy a new die template  – this one is called Spellbinders A2 Divine Eloquence; it is so very romantic.  This card was so easy – I simply set up my base and layers then cut the template with the center motif.  I popped that center motif up really high because I wanted to be able to see the paper underneath.  Done!  I could have tried to work in more layers but honestly it would have been way overdone – I just love the simplicity of the template as it is!

I dipped into my stash and found a piece of filigree that I used as a skirt on my bow.  I have so many glass pearls and I just love threading them onto my ribbon ends because it holds them down.  Right now in my crafting life, threading pearls is my new love :-)

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken handmade card with custom bow, roses and filigree

CRAFT SUPPLIES I USED
Rubber Stamps:  Quietfire Design – The Door was Marked You
Craft Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Natural White 80lb Cardstock, Bazzill
Ink: Fresh Ink – Fuchsia, Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Spellbinders A2 Divine Eloquence, Recollection Pearls, Darice Pearls, May Arts Silk Ribbon, A Gilded Life Mulberry Roses, Prima Ruffled Trim, Krylon Gold Pen, Grand Calibur Die Cut Machine

2014 is off to a fabulous start!!  I’ve had a chance to get inside my heart and sort things out to start off the year.    It’s been a blast sitting down the craft table ; I love what I do and I love the folks that visit here.  I’m feeling very adventurous and hope you’ll stick around with me this year!!

Stunning card Becca, and I love the bow – it really sets it off. Must go and look at the new sentiments, but I’ll have to be frugal, I’ve indulged quite a lot recently.ReplyCancel

Absolutely beautiful card – your work never ceases to amaze me! Would you mind sharing what company makes the background paper with the little roses on it? I am in love with this paper and love how you always tie it together!

I just love how you’re using the pearls on your ribbons, Becca! How do you attach them so that they stay put? Glue, knot the ribbon, …? I’d like to give this a try!ReplyCancel

I absolutely adore this card. I love the card itself but the sentiment really caught my heart. My first thought was how this expresses how I feel about my hubby and my second one was for you, Becca. I know you must miss your husband and making a card like this must touch that ache that never goes away. Thank you for sharing this lovely creation with us. I am ordering the stamp tonight so I can make a Valentine card for my hubby.

Bless you, Becca. You are a true gem.ReplyCancel
