Card making ideas by Becca Feeken using JustRite Filigree Corners
Good morning sweet friends! I hope you’re headed into a wonderful weekend and that there are some family plans popped in there somewhere!  I was just looking through my stash and discovered a card that I had not shared here.  It has a sentiment that reminds me of how the weather feels when it just turns fall before persistent chill sets and the skies turn grey.  This is a a quick card  layered with one predominant die – JustRite Spellbinders Custom Die – Filigree Corners.  I used it to create all the texture and dimension in the background adding a tag on for the sentiment.  I have a core group of cards I use for personal occasions when I don’t something that fits in my stash; it dresses well for any occasion – you simply switch out the tag to fit the occasion.

Necklace created by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Media Mixage Circles Three
Hi there blog friends.  I’m going to share another product of one of my gift making sessions with you.  I’m determined this year to make handmade gifts and I’m pushing to try different things than folks are expecting from me.  As I mentioned yesterday, I made a bunch of hatpins at the same time and while I was doing that, I created other elements – not really knowing what they would be used on but I wanted something ready for the inspired moment.  The moment came – as it often does when I’m involved in a great movie and want something to fiddle with, so I pulled some of the elements together for a necklace.  The beads were from my stash but are readily available at craft stores (teardrop pearls, chain, rondelles) and the round elements are bezels from the Spellbinders Media Mixage line called Spellbinders Circles Three – Silver.  I filled each circle with jewelry elements I had picked up at Michaels  (Bead Gallery), then poured Ice Resin over the top and let it dry.  Once dry, I put the pearls and rondelles together and attached them to the chain and finished off with a clasp.

Here is the main medallion close up…

Thank you for peeking in to see what I’m working on friends.  Thanks for you sweet comments about my pincushion and hat pins yesterday.  I’m a bit of a pincushion collector – I love them and have found them to be a surprisingly welcome gift!  I am working on more as the tick tock of the holidays is upon us :-)

WRBF-3964-2013
Good morning friends.  Checking in today for a short post.  And for today . . . a change of pace.  I spent some time pouring resin for a whole batch of Hat Pins so that I would have more custom pins on-hand.  Fun!  Then I decided Hat Pins and Pincushions would make a great handmade gift this season.  I repurposed a bracelet that had broken by pulling the elements apart and setting each element in Spellbinder Diamond Hat Pins before anchoring in place with Ice Resin.  Loving sweet old fashioned things, I pulled out my velvet, fiberfill and an aluminum flower pot and made a pincushion.  I simply took it outside and spray painted it gold with Krylon Short Cuts and made a pillow using the velvet and fiberfill, securing with hot glue gun.  It was an easy project and now all I have to do is wrap it up :-)

The most beautiful pin cushion I’ve ever seen…and I love that you repurposed old jewelry, too. I have a collection of jewelry bits and pieces that I’ve been wanting to use for something and this is inspiring me. The recipient will be blessed to receive this. TFS.ReplyCancel

Wow I was blown away by this project. It is so stunning, looks complex but from your description is simple to make. I love the idea of using unwanted or broken items and turning them into something beautiful. It will make a stunning gift, I am sure the person that receives it will cherish it.
Thank you for the inspiration and sharing your wonderful projects.
    Gentle crafty hugs
