Card Making Ideas by Amazingpapergrace using JustRite Custom Lacey Tiers, JustRite Custom Vintage Labels Four, Spellbinders Stately Circles, Spellbinders 5x7 Matting Basics A, Spellbinders Garden Lattice Embossing Folder
Sweet friends, it’s been a whirlwind of a week!  So yes, I’ve hinted around a little that I have a cool piece of news to share.  It’s always hard to do the horn tooting thing but every little triumph is a cause to celebrate and an opportunity to be thankful.  So, in answer to my question who’s on their way to the UK –  My dies and stamps are on their way to the U.K.  I wish it were me, but I’m just as blessed and excited.  Let me explain….just like we have HSN in the US, across the pond is a wonderful show called Create and Craft TV.  So, some of my dies (JustRite Custom Filigree Corner Dies and JustRite Custom Lacey Tier Dies) are being shown on the show on Sunday, September 15th (I’ll have times and hints on how to view, below)!!  What that means is it’s easier for my international friends to pick these items up since a shipment has gone there.    My sweet friend Sue Wilson is a presenter on the TV show and asked me to send over some unique samples for the show. In fact, Sue is also showing sneak peeks on her blog www.particraft.blogspot.com today and has top secret samples of her own she will be demonstrating on Sunday. When you tune in, you’ll be able to get more ideas for using both Filigree Corners and Lacey Tiers dies.  On this show Sue is truly amazing to watch in action :-)

WRBF-3878-2013

My card making idea for today is one of the samples that I sent over for the TV show, it uses Lacey Tiers and by adding back in all the gold cut outs you get a different two toned look.  Gold is so hard to capture on camera but you can see it better in the close up. When I designed Lacey Tiers I had the thought that it would be used like stained glass with the stained glass part being the color in the knock outs.  By die cutting two motifs and backing one with sticky masking tape, you can replace the same colored cut outs with the other color.  I’ve done so much gold and white lately, but this one would look great and quite dressy in those colors.   Other dies that work in the design include JustRite Custom Vintage Labels Four,  Spellbinders Stately Circles, and Spellbinders 5 x 7 Matting Basics A embossed with Spellbinders Garden Lattice Embossing Folder; the sentiment is from Justrite Papercrafts called Looking for a Sign.

Here’s your Step By Step recap of die cuts and layers, from the bottom up:  Start out with a Card Base 5-1/2″ x 7-1/2″ – I have a tutorial on Spellbinders Hinged Card Bases that will show you how to make oversized card bases from solid or filigree panels, if you have any questions.  Then stack foam tape, gold matting layer 5″ x 7″, die cut layer using 5×7 Matting Basics A embossed with Garden Lattice Embossing Folder, foam tape, die cut layer using frame from Lacey Tiers, foam tape, die cut layer using frame from Lacey Tiers, foam tape, die cut layer using Stately Circles, foam tape, die cut layer using round motif from Lacey Tiers.  Sentiment mounted on lower part of card with Vintage Labels Four.

CRAFT SUPPLIES I USED
Rubber Stamps: Justrite Papercrafts – Looking for a Sign
Craft Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Natural White, Gold Mirror Board (Posterboard – Hobby Lobby), We R Memory Keepers Teal Cardstock
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: JustRite Custom Lacey Tiers, JustRite Custom Vintage Labels FourSpellbinders Stately Circles, Spellbinders 5×7 Matting Basics ASpellbinders Garden Lattice Embossing Folder, Prima Flower, Prima Leaves, Cameo, Recollections Pearls, May Arts Silk Ribbon, Becca’s Bow MakerGrand Calibur Die Cut Machine

So many of you will find this hard to believe, but my Mom doesn’t ever come to my blog and always nods pleasantly when I try to explain what I do.  I think I was so excited about this because when I tell her she might ‘get’ how big papercrafts are world wide and understand why we’re all so passionate about what we do, lol!!  My things are just a blip on the show, but there’s lots of other wonderful JustRite projects that will be shown and to put it simply, creativity *will* be in the air.

The air times are:

UK Time = Sunday 12pm to 2pm and 5pm to 6pm
US Time = Sunday 7am to 9am (EST) and noon -1pm EST

All you need to do is jump on your computer then go to www.createandcraft.tv and click on “Watch Live TV”

So yes, we can watch from over here too!  I love watching and always come away totally inspired!!

    Hi Becca,
LOVE your Lacey Tiers and Filigree corners and use them a lot. Never thought of using the fallout bits that way though. What a clever idea.
I’m fully with you as regards Sue Wilson, she also is a very talented lady and I never miss a show she’s on. In fact I record them all and go back to them for inspiration.
I look at her blog every morning and then, straight after that, I visit yours. Both your styles are favourites of mine.
    Thank you for sharing.
    Hugs, RoseReplyCancel

Oh Becca and there I thought you were coming over yourself….. But this is wonderful news never the less. You and Sue are the two card making queens with dies for sure, so I am sure Sue and your work together will make for one amazing show on C&C, those dies and stamps will be sold out before the show is over I’m sure. I look forward to seeing Sue in action, like you she is a wizard with these dies!!ReplyCancel

WOOT WOOT Becca, that is the most amazing news, that I absolutely LOVE to hear. As I´m already a member of Create and Craft and also a huge fan of their Spellbinder shows with Sue, this is really the cream of the cake here, and believe me, I´ll be glued to my screen on sunday, and hopefully I´ll be able to finally get my hands on your stamps and dies before they´re sold out, which I´m sure will happen in a split second . I´m so glad, as we have some crazy customrules here, so it´s soo difficult to buy your stuff from the US, but from the UK which is in the EU, these rules don´t work then, so I can actually order there without all these extra expenses then, so I´m a very happy bunny now ha ha ha.
Thanks sooo much for letting us know, and have a wonderful week-end with lots of great fun. Hopefully we´ll be able to see YOU on the show here sometimes in the near future too then, who knows? ha haReplyCancel

  • Norah McPheeSeptember 13, 2013 - 2:26 am

    Good morning Becca,
I am one of Sues’ faithful followers from Central Scotland and i just wanted you to know what exquisite dies you have sent to the UK. I too thought that if you embossed a piece of acetate and colouring it in while in the die, it would take on the look of the beautiful stain glass windows. Cutting out in another colour the die so that it took on the look of a window. What do you think?
Anyway i just wanted to say thank you for letting us see your beautiful dies and have the chance to purchase them.
    Crafty hugs

How exciting for you. If you have never seen your projects shown on the tv before it is a very surreal experience. I had many samples shown on create and craft as part of a design team. It was really weird to see something I had made being explained and shown on the tv in the hands of presenters I had been watching for some time. Really weird. It’s such a great pity that you can’t be video linked from there to here. There are so many people who have not got internet access because of either their age or financial problems who would be absolutely felled to see you on TV here in the UK.
I go to your blog every morning to see what you have been creating and it feels like Christmas morning when you have uploaded such a masterpiece of work. This is always my first port of call even before opening any important emails. You have been truly blessed with the wonderful gift that you have. Keep on constructing please……..ReplyCancel

    Becca
I’m sorry to trouble you, but when I saw a baby card on pinterest made by you I went to your blog and could not find it. It was for a baby boy and was embossed with the argyle cuddlebug folder wth a pretty punch trim at the top with a large blue bow. I am so wondering what punch you used. It looks similar to a fleur de lis pattern, but I have not been able to find it. Is there a chance you might remember this card and what punch you used? I would love to get this punch. Any help you can give me would be so appreciated. I thoroughly enjoyed all your cards. They are truly beautiful.ReplyCancel

It would be great to see you both demo together – what a combo! Also could your bring your bow maker with you please? I can’t seem to find it in the UK anywhere – am I looking in the wrong places perhaps or is it not available over here? if not, why not? I am sure it would sell like hot cakes.ReplyCancel

Card Making Ideas from Amazing Paper Grace using Justrite Papercrafts – JustRite Lacey Tiers and Large Elegant Sentiments, Spellbinders Captivating Squares and Spellbinders Back to Basic Tags
Greetings blog friends, I’m peeking in with a card and a quick post for my card making idea today.  Changing up a little bit from my run on pink, I knew I wanted to showcase this gorgeous Prima Flower, so I dove in with a bit of purple.  It’s centered on a background made from JustRite Lacey Tiers Die Cut Template which I designed and the filigree corners on the edges are the smallest die from Spellbinders Captivating Squares.  I don’t have precise measurements to share today but the square 6″ x 6″ format makes it a fairly easy card to make.  The Lacey Tiers Template round motif cut alone actually doesn’t cut a circle, it cuts out the center filigree pieces.  The circle is cut when you include the outer square motif.  For this card I cut the round motif into a square and topped it with the outer motif.  This gave me a great layer to raise for a lot of depth from all the cutouts in the motif.

A multi-loop bow with a centered button and a tag from Spellbinders Back to Basic Tags makes way for a sentiment that doesn’t cover the beauty of the awesome flower and intricate die.   I reached for JustRite Large Elegant Sentiments; Get Well is a sentiment I don’t use nearly as much as I should.

I’m already enjoying the glorious turn from summer to the next season.  I won’t say fall yet, but I love this shoulder before the chill starts to blanket  the evening.  I keep finding myself outside just mesmerized by the difference in the light and the fresh air.  It rained almost every day this summer so this is a wonderful reprieve.  Even though I’ve not been here this week, I’ve been a busy girl.  In fact, I have some rather cool news to share on my post tomorrow so I hope you’ll peek in to see what I’m up to :-)

Quietfire Design - The Woods Would Be Very Silent, Spellbinders Labels Thirty Three, Twisted Metal Tags and Accents, Majestic Labels Twenty Five, Gold Rectangles One and Persian Splendor Embossing Folder
I’ve been deep in conversation with my crafty friends about card making ideas.  We’ve talked about simple to make cards and cards that look complicated, but aren’t.  I’m a firm believer that the dies can do the heavy lifting – so put them to work!!  My card today is one that goes together easily, and looks like you fussed, but you didn’t.  So often I think the optical illusion of layers makes things look much more complicated than they really are.  If you’re a ‘visual’ person like I am, please know that things make much more sense when you’re working the real thing rather than looking at instructions; ‘hands-on’ is king in card making.  Let me encourage you to cut the layers with the sizes I give, stack them up (without glue first) and I assure you, it will make sense. That’s exactly how I designed this card, I cut everything, stack everything to make sure it jives then I go back and glue everything and add foam tape where I want layers.  Are you game???

WRBF-3874-2013

I picked an adorable rubber stamp set from Quietfire Design that makes this sentiment from The Woods Would Be Very Silent  resonate, and the sweet little bird is the icing on top!  I reached for Spellbinders Labels Thirty Three, Spellbinders Twisted Metal Tags and Accents, Spellbinders Majestic Labels Twenty Five, Spellbinders Gold Rectangles One and Spellbinders Persian Splendor Embossing Folder to pull this card together.   Since I wanted thin matting layers I decided to create those matting layers with die cuts the same size as as the die they mat, here’s how:  My blue matting layers are simply 2 duplicates of the cream layer on top of them.  All I do is offset the blue matting layer behind the cream die cut making sure the first blue die cut sticks out on top and the second blue die cut stick out on the bottom.  Optical illusion = a thin matting layer – try it yourself!!

Here’s your Step By Step recap of die cuts and layers, from the bottom up!  Start out with a blue card base cut to  5″ x 6-3/4″, foam tape, cream matting layer cut to 4-3/4″ x 6-1/2″, panel embossed with Persian Splendor embossing folder and cut to 4-5/8″ x 6-3/8″, foam tape, combination of 2 blue and 1 cream die cut layers using Labels Thirty Three (offset as described above) then lay on top of Twisted Metal Tags and Accents and pull up on decorative point so that the points sit on top of enclosed dies, foam tape, combination of 2 blue and 1 cream die cut layers using Labels Thirty Three (offset as described above).  Attach bow, button and pearls.

CRAFT SUPPLIES I USED
Rubber Stamps: Quietfire Design – The Woods Would Be Very Silent
Craft Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Natural White, EK Success Sea Spray
Ink: Amuse Studio –  French Roast. Eucalyptus

I so appreciate all of you who are a part of the Amazing Paper Grace community – thank you for letting me share some of the products I love!  Also, thank you for taking the time to stop by, I know that many of you stop by every post and I really does my heart good and it inspires me to keep producing card making ideas!!  Thank you so, so much!!

Another absolutely stunning creation here Becca. I so love this one, really stunning layers and awesome colors too. I´ve often been wondering, how you did those layers with such a tiny edge peeling out underneath it, so thanks sooo much for the explanation. I really don´t understand why I never thought of that, but I admit, I didn´t, but now I´m definitelybeginning to get these beautiful edges too, that´s for sure.ReplyCancel

Seriously, Becca. You create such gorgeous stuff I can’t help but come all the time for inspiration. Or sometimes just to browse older work and enjoy it. I’ve said it before, everything your hands touch turns to magic…..ReplyCancel

  • DesireeSeptember 8, 2013 - 1:03 am

    Hi Becca,
Am sure you already know this, but for those new to cardcraft there are 2 other ways to do thin matting using just one duplicate die cut. You just cut the die cut in half and layer it as directed – one peeking out at top and one at bottom.
If the die is not too complicated you could also place it on your card, draw around the outside and then cut it out by hand.
Not my ideas – I learned them from the UK equivalent of Becca – Sue Wilson, who is in fact also American!! :)
Have a great week. I will watching out for your every post as usual – you are my favourite crafter. xxReplyCancel

What an ingenious idea, who “woulda thunk it?” I remember a long while back where you showed cutting with your knife along the outside of the die to make the thin layer. Thank you so much for sharing this seemingly simple card with us! When friends and I first started card making, one of my friends commented that the right papers and a little bit of layering really made a huge difference to the look of a card . . . i.e. made the card look more polished and elegant. I’ve tried to keep that in mind ever since and very happily came upon your blog which shows us the most elegant cards ever!! Thank you for always sharing your abundant talents with us!ReplyCancel

Beautifully done Becca! Great fit of the stamp on the SB die! Love the colours, love the layers. Nothing is so nerve-wracking to me as “gluing” down those assembled layers. Thanks so much for using the stamp and sharing your creativity! <3ReplyCancel

I remember that a couple of years ago you said you cut around the edge of a die to give a layer just slightly larger than the die itself cuts. I’ve done that several times, but this sounds way easier! See! I am listening! :o) Thank you, as always, for being you and being a great teacher!ReplyCancel

Stunning! You’re absolutely right about using the die cuts and layering. Since I’m ‘space-challenged’ in my home, I have to drag out my gear to the kitchen table so I end up doing a marathon die-cutting session. I was able to put together two very elegant cards in a short while just by combining several of the elements and adding a bit of bling.ReplyCancel

    Becca
What a clever way to make it look richer and complete. I didn’t even think of that. But we all know you’re a paper engineer. I always loved what you did with your mandalas.

I’ve learned a lot from you Becca and I so happy for your success.
