WRBF-3905-2013
Hi there blog friends!   I’m back today with another Christmas Card; a gatefold card. Today we’re showing JustRite Christmas Inner Thoughts and as a special treat – I used new Spellbinders Create-A-Flake 5 on the opening and on the inside.  They are brand new for July 2013 and gorgeous!!!   I felt like a gatefold was the perfect format to show how nicely the sentiments from Christmas Inner Thoughts work and they’ll slide nicely inside a top fold card too.  The gatefold is made using Spellbinders Gilded Gate Two. There are two gates, one on each side of the fold.  The opening has a round element, Spellbinders Decagon, and on top is Create-A-Flake 5.  On the inside I used all but one of the flakes in the set, two are stacked and two are used as single elements.  The second tier is embossed with Spellbinders Dainty Dots.

WRBF-3908-2013

No recap today because I’m not sure I could explain how I arrived here, but I will put this one on the tutorial list.  I’ll do even better, someone can win this one – I’d love to send it out to one of you. Leave a comment on my post today and stop by to leave a comment on my post tomorrow and I’ll use random.org to pick day 1 or day 2 then random.org again to pick a winner.   That would be one Christmas Card done for you already!!

Christmas Card - Grand Sentiments
Hi there blog friends!  I know you just saw a 4th of July card from me, but I’m switching gears to bring you my first Christmas card of the year.  Each year I say I’ll start my holiday plans early and inevitably I come in with a last minute frenzy to make hand made cards. Every year I have hope and none more than this year!  We’re celebrating Christmas in July so I put together a card using elegant die cuts and a new set of Christmas stamps from JustRite Papercrafts called Grand Christmas Sentiments.  The filigree die cut is Spellbinders A2 Filigree Delight and the bib that you see inside the oval is a die that’s being made available to the public, by request.  It came from one of my kits this year and we sold out of them so now they have been remanufactured.  JustRite Custom Die Filigree Corners was designed by me and I’m tickled they are coming out as part of JustRite’s August release  – I can’t tell you how many people emailed to ask how they could get their hands on this set.  Lastly a timeless favorite is back in the mix with Spellbinders Layered Poinsettia – it’s a staple in my Christmas crafting toolbox.  By the way, the lovely detail on the Poinsettias is made a clear stamp set that matches the die called Festive Poinsettia.

Christmas Card Grand Sentiments (closeup)
As always, I try to recap the card I’m showing, so you can make it yourself – this one is an absolute breeze!  I really hope you’ll give it a try!

So to recap the layers from the bottom up, cream card base 5-1/2″ x 7″, foam tape, red matting layer 6-3/8″ x 5-1/8″, design paper layer 6-1/4″ x 5″, foam tape, die cut layer of Spellbinders Grand Ovals (with sentiment) and JustRite Filigree Corners (small corner) and A2 Filigree Delight stacked together, Spellbinders Poinsettia.  Bow and flowers placed on appropriate layers.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: JustRite Papercrafts – Grand Christmas SentimentsFestive Poinsettia
Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Smooth Natural White 80lb, Bazzill – Red, The Paper Studio – Gold Foil, My Minds Eye – Print
Ink:  Amuse – Cherry
Accessories: JustRite Filigree CornersSpellbinders A2 Filigree DelightSpellbinders Layered PoinsettiaSpellbinders Grand Ovals, Seam Binding, Recollections Pearls, Sewology button, Darice Pearl, gold embossing powder, Becca’s Bow Maker

More to come this week from JustRite and please be sure to come and check in on me on Wednesday (oops) Thursday, when I’ll be sneak peeking something new from Spellbinders.

Edited to Add:  In the early hours this morning, I came to learn that longtime, dear friends of mine are missing at sea off the coast of New Zealand.   I’m in a state of shock, I knew they were traveling but did not know they had gone missing.  New Zealand authorities have given up the hunt but there’s still some thought that the boat could be drifting slowly with torn sails and will reach the coast of Australia soon.  Please if you have a moment, say a prayer for my friend Rosemary Dyche, her husband David and son David Jr. as well as four other crew members.  Their boat, the Nina, is one that my late husband John crewed on during a sail up the Gulf of Mexico during his time off about 15 years ago.  They invited us to sail to the Azores with them but kids, work and demands at home put that out of reach.  I hope you don’t mind me sharing, I feel helpless and would be ever so grateful if positive voices could come together in hope – here’s the latest update I know of .  A favor, if any of you in the South Pacific hear news, please email me through my contact page.

Becca – I’m so sorry to hear that your friends are missing at sea. We’ve actually seen stories of their ordeal on the news. It’s hard enough just to see it on the news, to know that someone you “know” knows them, makes it that much harder. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and them, and we hope they are found safely tucked somewhere and that you hear good news soon. Back to crafting – as always – a beautiful card. My goal is to start Christmas early this year, but that will have to wait until I finish unpacking and get the new craft room set up.ReplyCancel

WRBF-3902-2013
I’m having a wonderful 4th of July with friends and family.  If you ask me, I wouldn’t have it any other way.  Going into it, we were scheduled for 100% rain which means no hope of a sunny day but I knew there was 100% chance we were going to have a good time any way.  Prediction = true :-)   My prayer for all is that you hug the folks around you and understand no matter what comes our way daily, we’re blessed to have our family, our friends (near and abroad) and each other.  Today I’m so happy and proud to express an appreciation for my country so I cooked up a true red, white and blue card.
WRBF-3901-2013

I started out with Spellbinders Grand Decorative Labels One and cut a card base using the Spellbinders Hinged Card Base tutorial (someone always asks :-))  On top of that I layered Spellbinders A2 Filigree Delight  (I sliced an inch or so out of the center then taped the two pieces together along the back).  I then cut the center out using Spellbinders Standard Circles SM.  I finished off with Spellbinders Labels Twenty Four (stamped with Waltzingmouse Stamps Florentine Frippery), that I scored on each pointed edge and curved using a pencil.  Recently Waltzingmouse Stamps released a cool patriotic set of stamps, so I knew that I’d be using USA 1776 today.  I adore safety pins and I picked up these antique 7Gypsies pins recently and I thought it would be the perfect place to thread on a red, white and blue pearl.

SUPPLIES I USED
StampsWaltzingmouse Stamps – USA 1776, Florentine Frippery
Paper: Masters Touch 140lb Watercolor Paper, Bazzill
Ink: Amuse – Cherry, Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Spellbinders A2 Filigree Delight, Spellbinders Grand Decorative Labels OneSpellbinders Standard Circles SM, Spellbinders Labels Twenty FourSeam Binding, Darice Pearls,  7Gypsies Antique PinRecollections Pearls, Button, Becca’s Bow Maker

Hugs friends, enjoy your fireworks!!

Happy belated 4th of July to you Becca, but I´ve first got the entry in my mail right now in the morning of the 5th. That´s one of the worst things about the Reader is gone, cause now we first get the mails almost a day later for everything, so many things is way too late for us overhere now, but never mind, the cccard is sooo beautiful as always, and you´ve done an outstanding job as usual hun. You´ve really mixed all these stamps and dies to perfection Becca, I love what you´ve done with this here.
    Hope you´ll have a wonderful week-end ahead too now.ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca

A lady, on the lovely Sue Wilson blog mentioned you this morning, so I thought I would have a look. Wow your cards are so beautiful. Just one look at them and I have been purchasing EK punches, I have quite a lot of the spellbinder dies.” Lucky me ” I think my husband will pull what hair he has left, out, because I can see me saying “but I need these items as well “. I will certainly be following your blog every day. :-)

    Kind regards
