USA 1776
USA 1776 Cut Files

Today I wanted to create a framed card, so I started with Spellbinders® Gold Labels Four and Spellbinders® Labels Four cut at the same time to make a frame.  Then I cut another Labels Four and intertwine them so that parts of Spellbinders® Twisted Metal Tags and Accents falls in front and part falls in back.  I topped off with the smaller size of Labels Four and embellished my flowers with Spellbinders® Foliage.  As you can tell, I was in a foam tape mood today — I love using dies as frames and when elevating each layer, it gives the card depth.

So to recap the layers I used from the bottom up, my card base is 5-1/2″ x 6-1/2″, foam tape, Pink Matting Layer 4-7/8″ x 6″, design paper 4-3/4″ x 5-7/8″, foam tape, die cut layer Gold Labels Four and Labels Four (cut at same time to make frame), die cut layer Twisted Metal Tags and Accents with Labels Four, foam tape, die cut layer Labels Four.  Attach ribbons and sentiment on appropriate layer.

Waltzingmouse Stamps - Country Labels Four - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Good morning blog friends.  We’re back with another peek at one of the new Waltzingmouse Stamps sets – this one is called Country Labels Four.  I’m absolutely intrigued with this set for its charm and for it’s simplicity.  In my small tiny house when we have guests, we have a couple of rituals we follow.  They have a basket of toiletries and towels waiting in their room and then in the dining room we have a chalkboard plate on an easel and we write “Welcome” and the guests names.  It’s a tiny touch and and it’s so out of place because it sounds like something you’d find at a huge lodge or a bed and breakfast and I think we do it to poke fun of our little abode.  I can’t tell how many times our guests gush over those little touches.  All that to say that I think I’ve found something to add to the ritual – a card to put at their place on the table……  This has to be one of the most simplest I’ve done this year.  It has to be an easy, quick do if it is to get done when guests are expected . . .   Me thinks I have this one down to 10-15 minutes ;-)
WRBF-3839-2013
For this card I’ve simply used a border punch around the edge and it leaves a solid panel in the center.  On top of that I layered Spellbinders® Ornate Squares.  If you’re curious about how to punch the  panel, I have a tutorial on Border Filled Frames and it will explain how and the size of paper needed.  If you’re curious about how to make the filigree on both the front side and the backside of an oversized card base, then check out my tutorial on Hinged Filigree Cards – except this uses a punch instead of a die template.
Waltzingmouse Stamps - Country Labels Four - www.amazingpapergrace.com (inside)
So to recap the layers I used from the bottom up, I started with a 4″ x 6-1/2″ card base, foam tape (optional), black matting layer 2″ x 4-3/8″, brown matting layer 1-7/8″ x 4-1/4″, foam tape (optional), Ornate Squares die cut, foam tape (optional), brown layer 1-5/8″ x 1-5/8″.  The same layers are done on the inside of the card.  Attach ribbon and sentiment on the appropriate layer.

Beautiful as always. Using the ornate squares as a background for this simple classic stamp was just inspired (well, that’s why you are a designer I guess ). It made a lovely card, and I enjoyed reading your welcoming touches. At least with a smaller house, your housework can get accomplished fast!!! And since you live where it gets warm, small is easier (and less expensive) to COOL! TFS & HugsReplyCancel

I love your card. I can’t believe that you used a punch. Amazing is right! And, then to use the leftover center. How awesome is that! Gosh, I have soooo much to learn. Thank you so much for sharing.ReplyCancel

Dear Becca, your cards are so incredibly beautiful and executed with such fine detail and flair. I also wanted you to know how very impressed I am with the excellent manner in which they are photographed. The soft out of focus backgrounds, the props, the side lighting – each photo is a still life work of art and so effective in showcasing your cards. Nicely done Becca. It’s always such a pleasure to view your pages and I’m always inspired with your creative work.ReplyCancel
