WRBF-3813-2013
Hello there blog friends!   Sorry for the interruption in my appearances here.  You know what they say, when it rains, it pours.  It seems I’ve had to repair every major possession I’ have this month.  It started out with getting son that car, then my car was in the shop, then my ac/heat pump died.  Since it’s hot where I live, I thought  — no problem.  We’ll just stay in the RV until the house system is repaired.  Well the batteries were dead on the RV and although it is plugged into power – nothing works.  So now it is away getting the spa treatment.  All that to say that I’m still smiling.  Sweating, but still smiling.   It has kept me busy though; my craft time is down a little bit but I had this card ready, just waiting for a sentiment when I found the perfect one.  From this month’s release with JustRite Papercrafts I snagged this sentiment from the True Friends Vintage Labels Four set.

WRBF-3814-2013

My digitally printed paper is from an Etsy shop – By Digital Paper – I loved the roses.  I thought that Spellbinders™ A2 Filigree Delight would be the perfect frame, so I cut that in kraft paper and rimmed it in gold using a Krylon gold pen.  It just so happens that the smaller size of Spellbinders™ Floral Ovals fits perfectly inside the aperature for Filigree Delight.  I topped that off with my sentiment cut using Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals SM.  The card was finished with some silk Mays Arts Ribbon and some delicate little mulberry flowers from IAmRoses.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: JustRite Papercrafts – , True Friends Vintage Labels Four
Paper: Neenah Classic Crest – Natural White – 80lb Smooth, ByDigitalPaper (Etsy)
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Spellbinders™ A2 Filigree DelightSpellbinders™ Floral OvalsSpellbinders™ Classic Ovals SM, May Arts Silk Ribbon, Maya Roads Trinket Pin, Recollections Pearls, Becca’s Bow Maker, Krylon Gold Pen, Mulberry Roses – IAmRoses

Thanks for hanging in there with me.  I have actually been stamping and have some things ready for May.  More planned for this week too – I’m outside, but my posts are ready to go.  Hope to see you then.

What a beautfiul card. I love the digital paper. Colors are so great!

  • Ann LindApril 26, 2013 - 2:58 pm

It always seems to be the same at our house breakdowns seem to come in threes. You get the first two and then wait for the other shoe to drop wondering what the third one will be. Becca do you know what the background from By Digital Paper is called I bought some but they are too small. I had gotten in the habit for years of making 4 1/2″ x 5 1/2 ” cards but I am loving the bigger cards, the larger size gives so much more freedom to embellish. Have a great weekend the sun is shining here and the temps are warming .ReplyCancel

  • Becca FeekenApril 26, 2013 - 4:27 pm

Ann, the size is small on that digital paper, but if you are proficient in photoshop, it’s very easy to crop to the small size of the paper then (Ctrl-t) ‘transform’ it to the size you need.ReplyCancel

  • Mary H.April 26, 2013 - 5:14 pm

Becca, I hear you with all the ‘stuff’ breaking down. Same problem this month at our house PLUS income tax to be paid! This is a lovely card, and I’m delighted to see how you used the Filigree Delight with the Floral Ovals. Hooray…I have both of those dies, so I can try a layout as you have here (won’t be as pretty as yours…but well…). Hope you can stay cool, get all the ‘stuff’ repaired – without hitting the budget too terribly bad. Thanks for still taking time to share a card. It’s hard to stay motivated when you’ve having to think “Oh what NEXT?!”. But these are just little blip in the roads, nothing on the real important scale of life. Hugs.ReplyCancel

  • Mary H.April 26, 2013 - 5:16 pm

Forgot to ask in my comment: What type of printer are you using to get such a great printout & what type of cardstock? My Epson Stylus NX515 refuses to print on Cryogen, and an old Canon will print it, but not great colors. Thanks.ReplyCancel

It probably won’t be a surprise that I circled right back around to the baby set for my card today – an indulgence in pink!  In my stash I had this white burlap ribbon that reminded me of cross stitch so I removed some of the treads and ran a ribbon through it.  I picked Spellbinders™ Rose Creations and using the two smallest sized dies, created custom colored flowers with more coffee filters (one of my favorite ways to make flowers).  I daubed each layer with Victorian Velvet Distress Inker, dried them with my heat gun then fluffed them up.  I created a card base and added a panel embossed with Spellbinders™ So Trendy M-Bossabilities.  On top of the embossed panel I added Spellbinders™ Enchanted Labels Twenty Eight and Spellbinders™ Labels Twenty Eight.

WRBF-3801-2012

I also made a tag for the scent holder (Spellbinders™ Standard Circles LG and Spellbinders™ Medallion Seven) and used the same burlap ribbon and flowers for a container that holds cotton balls.  A little gift ensemble for baby :-)

Becca – wondering if you would mind sharing some experience on getting the paper out of these beautifully detailed spellbinders. I have bought a couple recently after seeing you make your cards and when I got to cut them out, the details stick and I end up ruining the die cut and have to start again. WRBF-3798-2012
Hey there blog friends!!  For those of you who always encourage me to make masculine cards – well, today is the day.  I didn’t even have a blog category for man cards before today, but I put one in so that I can keep track in the archives.  This was fun – I’m using the Man of the Hour set by Waltzingmouse Stamps.  For my card today I created the base using Spellbinders™ 5×7 Matting Basics B.  I popped up a layer using Spellbinders™ 5×7 Matting Basics A and covered it with a panel using Spellbinders™ M-Bossabilities Numbers and Letters.  I simply swiped my inkpad across all the letters to make them stand out.  I topped it with a panel cut using Spellbinders™ Radiant Rectangles.

WRBF-3799-2012

Ribbon and flowers were added before permanently securing the upper layer, and I was done.  I have to say that for me, it’s hard to be done on a masculine card.  I want to add pearls and I want to add ribbon and I want to add embellishments — well, you get the picture :-)

What a great card, Becca! I love the chalkboard effect you created, and the numeric background would be perfect for my number lovin’ man. Super sentiment, too!ReplyCancel

Becca – This is such a great card! So vintage and masculine! It has such a strong masculine feel that you don’t even realize at first that it has a bow and flowers. Great card! Always so inspirational!
