WRBF-3795-2012
Good morning sweet blog friends.  Today is Preview Day 2 of the Waltzingmouse Stamps April Release.  I have a pair of small cards to show.  These sure fill a void in my stash – I don’t think I have any baby stamps at all and this set is called Nordic Baby.  It’s small and sweet and the little stitch marks give the motifs texture and character.  In a nutshell I created an a baby welcome card that I can redo whenever I need one – in a flash.  I took cardstock measuring 5 – 1/2″ x 8″ and scored in half.  I cut using Spellbinders™ Romantic Rectangles, I centered and cut from the front flap leaving a frame.  I backed that frame using Spellbinders™ Basic Lattice.  That gave me a latticed card base that you can see through.  I cut a small piece of cardstock (2″ x 3-3/4″) for the left edge of the card and added lace and a tied bow with buttons.  That’s where I hung the sweet pair of shoes from a button.  The petite scalloped edge was created using Spellbinders™ On the Edge.

WRBF-3796-2012
I stamped the nordic circle motif using Spellbinders™ Standard Circles SM and mounted it on Spellbinders™ Medallion Four.  This set begs for sweet little buttons and pearls.

Becca, I love your cards. They are exquitesite. Today’s card with the cut on edge, intrigues me. I have recently noticed several of them used. I have read that you need a special set of cutting plates for them. Is this correct? I have imagined cutting them and I do not understand why you would need these extra plates for the big shot. Do you have a tutorial on this technique? I have checked some of your tutorials on you tube but I have not found one. I would appreciate your comments. Thanks, DonnaReplyCancel

    • Becca FeekenApril 16, 2013 - 4:39 pm

Hi Donna, the On the Edge die is a plain die, nothing needed by your regular cutting plates :-)ReplyCancel

WRBF-3793-2012
Hey there blog friends!!  I bit the bullet and finally signed up for Instagram and Twitter.  What was I thinking?  I’m not really that talkative so I’ll have to see about Twitter, but I finally figured out what I could do with Instagram.  I have so many ‘not ready for prime time’ pictures that I take of things I’m working on and my area, that would never appear on my blog.  Hope you’ll join me there.  In the meantime, do I ever have the coolest sets to show you today!  It’s Preview Day 1 of the new Waltzingmouse Stamps Releases.  The new sets simply make me grin then they are so cute!!  So my project today uses the new set called My Kind of Guy.  It will be available from Waltzingmouse Stamps on April 18th, there’s lots to see from the Design Team today.  When you see the set the pattern will look oddly familiar.  As a matter of fact, I simply delved in to find out as much as I could about the pattern. So the kind of shoe is a Brogue (noun….A strong outdoor shoe with ornamental perforated patterns in the leather).   I love the pattern and if you want to get an idea about some colors to use, just google Trickers Brogue and see all the colors.  No men you’re crafting for?  No worries, google Trickers Brogue for women.  Isn’t that amazing??  I couldn’t wait to get started – the whole set reminded me of clever wedding favors so I pulled out the remainder of these cute Jolees stickers from a couple of years ago.  I thought they worked perfectly with the decor of this set.
WRBF-3794-2012
Many moons ago I purchased a template to make these box lids.  Long since lost but I thought the concept was a great match for that awesome border.  It’s a regular box top scored to fit the length and depth dimensions of the bag with two slits cut on top.  And the bonus is that it just so happens Spellbinders™ Classic Scallop matches the curves of the border pattern!!
WRBF-3791-2012
The card is an addition to the ensemble – it along with the bag are meant for a mans gift in a wedding setting.  For the sentiment, I cut it using a template from Spellbinders™ Address Book and backed it with one of my favorite elements from Spellbinders™ Ironwork Motifs.  Working with this set is such a treat!!
WRBF-3792-2012
Speaking of treat . . . .hop around and see what the design team has in store for you today!!

Hello there sweet blog friends!  Today is a glorious day and I hope you are basking in it.  I’m elbow deep in a bunch of projects and I hope that in the near future you’ll be able to see what I do when I’m not actively blogging.  On top of that, I seem to be renovating every corner of my life – I knew it would happen when the time was right, and not before — so stay tuned.  In the mean time, I wonder how many of you have local stamp stores and local scrapbooking stores?  I’m big on local support and my closest local stamp store is an online store — I have a teeny bit of driving to get there, but it’s a treat knowing that so much creativity is going on right down the road from me.  My local online stamp store is Flourishes — in Pensacola, Florida.   I’m on the teaching roster for a one day class that will be held there on April 20th, 2013.   It’s an intimate little studio setting and my goal is to take the stress out of bows.  If you interested, check out the details —–> HERE.  In the meantime, I received some little Flourishes goodies and I whipped up this card – perhaps, just perhaps it had a little bit to do with my spring fever as well :-)
WRBF-3790-2012
I created my card base using Spellbinders™ 5×7 Matting Basics A using the technique that I showed you on how to make a Hinged Card.  I used Spellbinders™ 5×7 Matting Basics B for the layers then covered the top layer with my favorite lace.  This window, Spellbinders™ Window Two simply speaks my name!  I filled it with flowers and pearls and added a bow.  A hand cut banner spans the bottom with a sentiment from Inside & Out – You.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: FlourishesInside & Out You
Paper: Neenah Classic Crest – Natural White – 80lb Smooth, Pink Paislee
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ 5×7 Matting Basics A, Spellbinders™ 5×7 Matting Basics B, Spellbinders™ Window Two, May Arts Silk Ribbon, Corsage Pins, Recollection Pearls, Becca’s Bow Maker

You all bless me!!  I am so grateful, I just can’t say it enough :-)  Blessed wishes, always!

Becca where do you buy your lovely lush silk ribbons and your lace from? I just made the box with Enchanted Labels 28 lid and the infamous digital print out card set and your Filigree Delight gate fold card and sent them to my sister for her Birthday. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful creations and your step by step tutorials and videos. I had to change my card somewhat as I didn’t have any ribbon that worked but it was I’m sure the nicest card I have ever made. The card took me hours to make so I have a new appreciation for the number of show stopping creations you turn out. Thanks AnnReplyCancel

This is a truly beautiful card. I have some of that lace and used it with red and black to make a sympathy card and it turned out really nice. People really appreciate it when someone they love passes and they get a personal touch card that they could never find in a store. It means an awful lot to them. I would love it if you were coming to Orlando for the Scrapbook Expo. Maybe you could answer in another blog if you will be there or not.

    Hi Becca,
Todays card is another beauty. I like it because it is so soft and pink and feminine.
I have NO store near me at all :o) I do all my shopping online.
I am lucky I can do that – but I sure do wish I could wonder through stores to see all the papers and embellishments – it would be a huge treat for me.
    Hugs, CandyReplyCancel

Becca, a lovely card, as always, with all your exquisite touches. I was interested to learn Flourishes is in Pensacola. We lived there 2 yrs (66-67) while Hubby was in the navy. Dtr was born at NAS. It’s been a long time since we were in Pensacola – Good luck with your new teaching assignment. Wish I were close enough to take a class! TFSReplyCancel

Sadly, the stamping and scrapbooking stores in our area have been closed for some years now. We have the big box stores – JoAnns, Michaels, AC Moore – within a 10 minute drive, but their selection isn’t great, especially for someone who has been stamping for as many years as I have. There is also Hobby Lobby, but that’s a 35 minute drive by expressway, so we don’t go often. I do love their paper selection, though. So many different and unusual papers. Not that I need any more . . .

Your card is so lovely – beautifully feminine with its pink and white. Thanks for sharing it.ReplyCancel

I have a wonderful locally owned stamping store that I can go to anytime located in Boiling Springs, NC. It is a great place to get new ideas, see new products, learn new techniques and just have fun stamping. The owners are wonderful Christians and you feel that warmth on a daily basis when you enter the store! Love your card!ReplyCancel

What a fabulous card Becca!! You brightened my day when I opened my email and saw this lovely creation :D Unfortunately for me my favorite hometown scrapbook store closed, but have a Hobby Lobby and Michael’s, although they aren’t able to carry the variety that the scrapbook store did. Becca,
I have been an artist for all of my life and I just started to dabble in card making.
I don’t have a blog but my good friend and mentor posts my creations on hers.
I must say you are so very talented and I enjoy your work tremendously.
I am slowly collecting all of the many embellishments and I do make my own.
I want to thank you for the efforts you put forth and for the information you share so easily.
I just ordered, made and received 80# Neenah paper that you seem to use on many of your cards…It truly makes a difference!
    Thanks again and G-d blessReplyCancel

Not only do I adore your cards they are always amazing but I love the way they are photographed as well. All to often I make a card and once I’ve taken the picture the card has to go to its new home, when I review the picture its looks nothing like the card I made!

I love the just rite products and of course my spellbinders just finishing my new storage and have boxed my 300 sets into blank DVD boxes. What a task but worth it now when I see one of your beautiful cards I know by just a glance if I own those dies.

Keep up the good work can’t wait to see what you are designing next.
All the best Pauline from co.armagh n.irelandReplyCancel

I love this feminine, elegant card. The lace is so beautiful, along with all your elements. Most of our local scrapbooking stores closed before the “craze” with all the paper crafting and mixed media. We do have an art store that carries alot of the paper lines and art supplies which I support weekly! Thanks again for sharing your beautiful creations with us.
