WRBF-3786-2012
Greetings sweet friends, there is a hop today, and I’m tickled to be back in time to participate!  I’ve been travelling unexpectedly :-)  Sweet sons car that he has had since high school finally bit the dust.  Ugh, that’s the call I didn’t want to get – so I made the road trip to get to him so that we could figure out what to do.  There’s nothing that could have blessed me more that being corralled in the car for two days with my young man that moved away two years ago. He’s finishing up his college away from home and circumstances (the car, his job, his school) make it nearly impossible for him to get home – I have not seen him in a year, although we talk every couple of days.   My heart is so very full because I can see, firsthand, how he has matured into a charming, funny, warm, optimistic, considerate man.  Good things are happening in his life . . . and he has taken his future into his own hands.  It was so precious for me to be able to see, I’m such a lucky mama.   During our teary goodbye, I told him how proud his Dad would be.

Well enough gushing, before I left home I finished up this card to celebrate the JustRite Papercrafts Blog Hop that’s happening this week – I’m absolutely in love with the new releases and especially the Damask Wallpaper Background stamp I decided to showcase today.  I cut four of Spellbinders™ Gold Elements One and arranged them them to highlight the diagonal.  I glued two of the corners together and placed my damasked stamped background (with tied bow) on top of one but underneath the other corner piece then did the same on the bottom – it forms a quasi pocket.    Next I used Spellbinders ™ Medallion One underneath a panel stamped with Spellbinders™ Adorning Squares.   My card is 5.5″ x 7.5″.
WRBF-3787-2012
The damask is such a pretty embellishment – I chose a taupe ink so that it would be visible, yet muted.  The stamped sentiment is from the True Friends Vintage Labels Four set. (By the way, those silk ribbons, the thick and thin, are both the same color but they look different in my picture — not sure why but they appear to be the same in real life :-))

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: JustRite Papercrafts – , True Friends Vintage Labels Four
Paper: Neenah Classic Crest – Natural White – 80lb Smooth
Ink:  Amuse Latte, Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Gold Elements, Spellbinders ™ Medallion One, Spellbinders™ Adorning Squares, May Arts Silk Ribbon, Maya Roads Trinket Pin, Becca’s Bow Maker

There are lots of goodies to see from the rest of the design team – I hope you’ll take a second to pop in for a visit!  Thanks so much for letting me gush about my sweet son.  Many of us are moms and are inspired to see that our sons and daughters take on great character as they mature.  I’d love to know if there is someone who has come into their own that makes you so proud!!

Sorry about the circumstances you had to go away but sounds like it was time to see him in person and get to spend that quality time with him, how precious those moments are….. My father died on Dec.26 of this past year and my daughter who is 23 now showed how much she had matured and she was such a comfort and I saw the wonderful woman she is becoming, she too has been away at college and like you say even though you talk to them all the time, it is just something different when you get to see them in person.

O Becca, I am sooo happy that your sons’ car broke down and you had a chance to spend some real quality time together. Phone calls are wonderful, but…..sorry about his car…I know that pain all too well. Tell him to buy a Subaru in 9 years I have yet to do more than have to change the oil and add washer fluid and occasional fuel injection fluid. Sorry to digress. This is such a stunning card and the theme could be changed for many other things. TFS!ReplyCancel

WRBF-3788-2012 Happy Monday sweet friends!  I hope your Easter was special – mine sure was!  Last week my mailbox was brimming with new stamps, so I wanted to show you one that especially touches my heart — it’s gorgeous!!  My sweet friend Suzanne, from Quietfire Design dropped this in the mail to me – with plenty of time to spare for Mothers Day.  I put a little card together with her stunning hand penned sentiment called Mothers hold their Childrens Hands.  It’s mounted on Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals LG and layered onto Spellbinders™ Floral Ovals.  My next layer is the filigree edged piece from Spellbinders™ Radiant Rectangles.  The card base is made using Spellbinders ™ Timeless Rectangles – you can see how I do this in this tutorial —>Filigree Hinged Card Tutorial.   WRBF-3785-2012I highlighted the sentiment with a sponge dauber and Victorian Velvet distress ink.  I leave the die seated in the die template while running the dauber around the edge – it leaves such nice muted color on the inside and the rim of the diecut forms a hard border.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Quietfire Design – Mothers hold their Childrens Hands Paper: Neenah Classic Crest – Natural White – 80lb Smooth Ink:Versafine Onyx Black, Victorian Velvet Distress Ink Accessories: Spellbinders ™ Timeless Rectangles,  Spellbinders™ Floral OvalsSpellbinders™ Radiant RectanglesSpellbinders™ Classic Ovals LG, Recollections Pearls, May Arts Silk Ribbon, Mulberry Flowers, Becca’s Bow Maker

Thanks for stopping by to see me today.  You’re all such a blessing!

Love your filligree creative work. I am having difficulty getting all the details of spellbinders dies to cut out. Some spots do not cut thoroughly.
Can someone give me some tips to help me out!

A belated happy Easter to you, too! I was in Baltimore helping our eldest daughter get moved into her new apartment and didn’t have computer access for a few days. You’ve been busy! This card is so elegant….I love the bow treatment!ReplyCancel

Becca, this is very inspiring card. but why the Black? Easter is life, and a new beginning. Not black. I love the design, but the black thinks of death, and Easter is celebrating life everlasting. The Lord is Alive. with love, joy, and forgiveness.(yes, He did die, but He’s alive)ReplyCancel
