WRBF-3780-2012
Good morning sweet blog friends,  happy weekend!  Tell me how can it already be the end of March?  I’m peeking in for a moment to share a card –  I went with a custom size because I wanted a tall, skinny card, this one measure 4.5″ x 7″.  I reached for one of my favorite new sets from JustRite Papercrafts called  Grateful Heart which was cut with Vintage Labels Two Custom DieI blew the dust off of my Copic markers to color in the focal image – I cut both flowers out and popped them up with foam dots for dimension.   I layered this on top of a panel cut with Spellbinders™ Gold Labels Four and backed with Spellbinders™ Fancy Lattice.  It was very simple to trim the lattice to fit the Labels Four shape!

WRBF-3781-2012

Once put together, I embellished the intersections of the lattice with small pearls – just the visible intersections.  A quick bow and a pearl embellishment finish it all off.  A final tag cut using  Spellbinders™ Back to Basics Tags is a quick way to add a sentiment and an easy way to change the card later if I want to substitute a different sentiment ;-)

    Hi Becca,
I’m not able to comment as often as I used to but I had to stop today and say how beautiful this card is. I especially love the ‘springy’ (lovely analogy Theresa) cutout detail behind the flowers, which are also beautiful and so expertly coloured. I adore Spellbinders, who wouldn’t, but I find cards made totally with them all the time become ‘same old, same old’. So when I spot a card with lots of crafting on it, It truly stands out in the crowd, and yours is just that card.
Best wishes blogfriend. Linda (UK) xxxReplyCancel

WRBF-3778-2012
Seriously, Happy Friday sweet blog friends!  I’m giddy about the coming weekend; it would be hard to peg why – so, just because.  As Forest Gump would say, for no particular reason :-)  I’ve had a very blessed week – ran into and old friend, talked to my sister for quite a while and in general, just thankful because my little world is okay (I hope yours is too).  So this card has been on the edge of my desk for a week  – I just knew I wanted to highlight the cameo in this month’s Graceful Monogram release from JustRite Papercrafts; I thought the more elaborate dies would show it off in good fashion.   I started with a card base using Spellbinders™ Enchanted Labels Twenty Eight – if you’re curious how I do this on the front and the back, you can see my tutorial on Filigree Card Bases—–> HERE.  I wanted a hint of color so I simply cut the Enchanted Labels Twenty Eight again and trimmed off the filigree and the edges to create a layer from lavender cardstock.  Added on top of that layer is Spellbinders™ Elegant Labels Four, stamped with JustRite’s Garden Gate Background.  Stepping up the next layer is Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals SM followed by the Cameo stamped onto a layer from Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals LG.

WRBF-3779-2012

For the Happy Mothers Day sentiment, I reached back to a classic from JustRite Papercrafts called Vintage Rose Medallions, it fits perfectly on Spellbinders™ Back to Basics Tags.

As to spring fever, yes I have it. The buds on the trees are starting to swell and some signs of spring flowers are coming up through the ground. But 6+ inches of snow is expected tonight. It won’t last long though. Happy springtime to you!ReplyCancel

  • Francie in MontrealMarch 22, 2013 - 8:40 am

Lovely lavender… Serene and elegant; intricate and graceful. I can’t take my eyes off it.
Although the calendar says spring, our Montreal weather still says winter. That’s ok with me. I like cold, crisp air and snow. But spring is truly a magical time with new life. It’s maple syrup time – yum. Several weeks later, the delightful spring flowers push their little heads through the hard earth to decorate our neighbourhoods. We’re truly blessed with four seasons.ReplyCancel

A truly stunning card, Becca, lilac is my favourite colour and combined with the lacy die-cuts, truly stunning. I am so glad your world is good at the moment, today is not one of my ‘good’ days, it is the 26th Anniversary of the death of my eldest Son, so not a good day, and it is snowing here in the UK too, I braved the snow to get to the crematorium to lay flowers and look at my inscription in the Book of Remembrance. Your card has really cheered me up, any Mother would be proud to receive this card, it is stunning.

Hi there blog friends!  Today I’m participating in a blog hop so I actually sat down and altered an item — it was a fun and welcome break from making a card :-)  Today
JustRite Papercrafts and Faber Castell join teams to show off some splendid mixed media projects – stay tuned for the end of my post and I’ll give you a link so that you can enter to win some fantastic JustRite and Faber-Castell products.  For my project purchased one of the $1.00 wooden frames at Michaels.  I covered it with paper embellished with Spellbinders™ Trendy M-Bossabilities™ Embossing Folder – Side B,  added flowers made with Spellbinders™Spiral Blossom Four and a butterfly from Spellbinders™ Les Papillions Two.  I finished up with a stamped sentiment from JustRite Papercrafts called Grateful Hearts Vintage Labels Two.   The subtle shading on the frame and flowers comes from two shades of Faber-Castell Gelatos – (melon and butterscotch) laid down on a My Minds Eye piece of design paper covered with text.

2.  Randomly embellish with Gesso
WRBF-3771-2012
3.  Randomly embellish with gelatos using direct to paper, fingertips and sponge to vary intensity.
WRBF-3772-2012

4. Paint edges of frame with Gesso.  Mark outsides and insides of frame on wrong side of paper.  Trim to fit frame.
WRBF-3773-2012

5.  Put Scortape on frame.  Remove liner and adhere prepared paper to frame.
WRBF-3774-2012

6.  Cut three flowers and one butterfly using Spellbinders™ Spiral Blossom Four and a butterfly from Spellbinders™ Les Papillions Two.  Paint flower with gesso and embellish with gelato as shown.
WRBF-3775-2012

7.  Add flower, butterfly and ribbon embellishments to frame.  Stamp sentiment with flourish – insert in frame opening.
