WRBF-3712-2012
Howdy friends, I hope you are a butterfly lover just as I am.  Die cut filigree butterflies simply make me swoon.  I love this new  Spellbinders™ Les Papillions Two set which lets me layer the filigree portion over the solid portion for stunning layers.  It goes along perfectly with a new set by JustRite Papercrafts called Butterfly Dreams.  In order to create a frame in which to set all my embellishments I cut Spellbinders™ Gold Labels Four  and  Spellbinders™ Labels Four at the same time and while both dies were in place, I stenciled in between the two dies to create the colored frame.

WRBF-3713-2012

My card is smaller than my usual and I love how tight it makes everything fit.  This one is 4.25″ tall by 6.5″ wide.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: JustRite PapercraftsButterfly Dreams
Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Natural White, Prima Tea Thyme
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Amuse Blush, Victorian Velvet Distress Ink
Accessories: Spellbinders™ Gold Labels FourSpellbinders™ Labels FourSpellbinders™ Les Papillions Two, Recollection Pearls, May Arts Silk Ribbon, Recollection Pearls, Maya Roads Trinket Pin,
 Becca’s Bow Maker

Yesterday several people asked me about the corrugated paper I used in yesterdays card. No, I’m not good at all at stripping boxes, lol!!  Michael’s sells a set of corrugated cards with craft envelopes under the Recollections brand.  They come in a box of 30 and the size of the card is 6″ x 6″ doubled which essentially yields a 12 x 6 panel with a crease in it.  If I need to cut it in half, 6″ x 6″ will be plenty big.  It was a sweet find along with the 40% off coupon I used :-)   Have a stellar day!!

Your cards are breathtaking! Absolute works of art.

I am new to cardmaking – still trying to find my style – and I love yours! Is what you do possible for a beginner? Or does it take years of practice?

I also wonder how you put different dies together to make cuts. You said

“I cut Spellbinders™ Gold Labels Four and Spellbinders™ Labels Four at the same time and while both dies were in place, I stenciled in between the two dies to create the colored frame.”

How do you keep everything evenly spaced? I think I saw somewhere where you said that you tape them together to keep them even, but doesn’t the tape interfere with the cut?

Thanks … For all you do to inspire.ReplyCancel

WRBF-3710-2012
Big hugs and greetings blog friends!  I hope your week is off to a magnificent start :-)   While I’m blissfully getting back into the groove, I’ve been crafty among many other activities.  You’ll laugh, but my youngest daughters bedroom furniture has been in boxes in my dining room since last May.  On Sunday I got some extra special bonding time with her while we gutted her room and banished her childhood furniture.  She now has digs befitting a college girl and had some friends over for a room warming party.  I loved the surprised look in their eyes when the rounded the hall corner to glimpse her grown up decor.  The twin sized wooden captain’s bed we carted out to the road lingered there no more than an hour before someone came by and looked upon it as treasure.  For that I’m thankful.  I didn’t think it good enough to go to the Salvation Army but I’m glad that someone can put it to use.   She told me yesterday morning that she felt like she woke up in a hotel room!  It brings to me thoughts of how very special home is and how important it is to make it a cozy place to feel safe and comfortable – home is the heart.  It inspired my card today using a wonderful sentiment from Quietfire Design called Home is the Heart.

WRBF-3711-2012

I made a base (5.5″ x 7″) using design paper and layered on top of it corrugated cardboard which I cut using Spellbinders™ A2 Bracket Borders One on each end.  Next I layered a panel cut with Spellbinders™ Curved Matting Basics A on top of a panel embossed with Spellbinders™ Numbers and Letters (Side B) M-Bossabilities™ cut by Spellbinders™ Curved Matting Basics B.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Quietfire Design – Home is the Heart
Paper:  Die Cuts with a View – Chateau Lavender, Recollections Corrugated Cards
Ink: Amuse – Grape
Accessories:   Spellbinders™ A2 Bracket Borders One, Spellbinders™ Curved Matting Basics A, Spellbinders™ Numbers and Letters (Side B) M-Bossabilities™Spellbinders™ Curved Matting Basics B, seam binding, Bazzill Button, Recollection Pearls, May Arts Pleated Ribbon, Hirschberg Schultz & Co Modern Romance Floral Pic, Maya Roads Trinket Pin,
 Becca’s Bow Maker

Truly sending hugs and blessings your way.  Go be crafty!!

This is such a beautiful card and I think the colors go so well together. Purple was one of my mom’s favorite colors and now it is my grand daughter’s favorite as she just had her room painted in light and dark purple. I thought it might be too much purple but adding the white furniture and chair rail really made it just right. Now she has just got to learn to keep it clean and all will be well. : ) Take care my cyber friend and many blessings to you and your family. Denice….ReplyCancel

ANote-APG
Sweet blog friends, I have a bit a news to share.  Please note that I’m choosing not to hang the word “sad” on my news, because it is not a sad occasion and I’m a firm believer that when one door closes, another one opens.   In fact, the proof that something good is always on the way is apparent to me in every waking day.  Most of the last ten months I’ve spent the lion’s share of my time working on the Amazing Paper Grace Kit Club – in fact the last kit shown on January 15th is on its way to club members as we speak; some have already arrived.  For many reasons – way too many to detail here, the January Amazing Paper Grace kit is going to be the last kit issued.  What this means to members is that no new kit is to be unveiled on February 15 and no charges will be made to your credit cards for those future kits.

I won’t be going anywhere :-)  This creates a great opportunity to get back to what I love, my blog.  I haven’t made a video since last year, so the camera is being dusted off as I speak.   I’m hopeful that the next door will open soon and I’d encourage you to be on the lookout for new stamps to my line licensed by JustRite Papercrafts in the coming months.   The kit was a huge undertaking between three different entities in three different parts of the country; I did not own the kit, I was just blessed to be able to design it each month.   Thankfully, each of the companies involved still exists and in fact, if there was a kit that you really wanted, but were not sure about, you probably want to go back and buy that kit before they are gone for good!!!

Please note, that as the designer, I don’t handle customer service inquiries other than to pass your messages along.  The reason for this is I don’t have any of your account information or any of the shipping records and wouldn’t be able to answer your question.  Going forward, if you have any questions about previous kits or want to purchase additional kits you must either call customer service at 918-453-9111 or go to the kit website – www.amazingpapergraces.com.  Scrap-Mart, who has many kit clubs under their umbrella,  has done an amazing job at customer service with previous kits and will continue to field inquiries at the following email address:  info@amazingpapergraces.com

My heartfelt thanks to JustRite Papercrafts for graciously manufacturing both the superb quality dies and stamp sets that filled the kit.  Thanks also goes to Scrap-Mart for gathering all the goodies, packing and getting them into mailboxes all over the world.  Thank you to the roughly 500 members who looked forward to every shipment and for blessing me with such encouraging words each month.   I hope you’ll continue to look forward with me, after all, tomorrow is another day :-)

I am so thankful for all of the beauty you brought to our lives with your kits and I soooo look forward with you to see what is in store for you in the coming months. • Dottie DavisFebruary 14, 2013 - 4:28 am

Our hearts know when we need to take inventory of our activities to see if they are really what we want to do. It is all about chosen priorities. The really neat thing is that if one doesn’t launch out into unchartered waters how will that person ever grow? I sold cards for the gals at the local credit union on a regular basis and though it was a really cool idea and I loved it, it proved too demanding and drained my creativity. I had to PRODUCE! It turned into something I had not bargained for. But to have someone actually want one of my cards, to pay their hard earned cash for it, uplifted me very much. Oh Becca, I just started getting the kits. I had received the December and February one. I have completed all of December kit and I only lack the journal being done with the February kit. I am so sorry, because I loved to the kits. But , I have missed seeing you be so active on your blog. You are an inspiration. I hope that you will continue to create beautiful cards and share them with us.ReplyCancel

As a receiver of the Kits I certainly appreciated all your wonderful designs. I will be sad to see them go but on the positive side, I will still be seeing your designs and creative projects. You know what is right for you. Welcome back to what you enjoy doing.ReplyCancel

The Lord does indeed open other doors to us. I really liked the stamps and dies that you designed for your kits, but I have soooooo much paper and other stuff, I didn’t feel I could justify purchasing the whole kit. I am looking forward to seeing what other items you come up with for JR. Blessings, and CRAFT ON!ReplyCancel

While I’ve certainly LOVED the kits and am so glad I signed up the second I read the announcement about the Kit Club starting, and will miss getting them, I’ll still Love you Becca and look forward to seeing the next step in your journey. It takes a lot of courage to be able to say NO or STOP when you need to, and you must take care of yourself first and foremost – otherwise you have nothing to give to others and that would be such a shame for someone with the talent and artistry you have! Best of luck, I’m hanging with you!!!ReplyCancel

  • milliejsFebruary 14, 2013 - 12:47 pm

Becca, I for one am very glad to have you returning to the videos. It’s kind of like the saying about giving a man a fish or teaching him how to fish. That is what the videos are for me. I didn’t buy any kits, not because they weren’t beautiful, but because I need to learn HOW to do them myself.

So from my humble opinion I can hardly wait for a video….

    Hugs from Nebraska.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca, not sad news, just news. At least we will still have you as our daily mentor. Sometimes, when a hobby becomes too overwhelming, it stops being a pastime that you love. Deadlines have a way of putting so much pressure on you, that you begin to resent what you have to do. I so admire you, for your honesty and courage, in taking such a step. You can always look back and say, “I did that, and did it well.” You go girl. We will always be here…the avid followers and fans.

To tell the truth… selfishly, I’m glad. I have missed you! As much as I admired your work with your kits, I really missed those beautiful random cards you would make. You are my number one “go to blog” when I need to make a really special card. Your choice of colors and your layering is a huge inspiration for me. Looking forward to more magic from the Layering Queen!ReplyCancel

I am grateful for the kits I did receive and the inspiration they have provided. But as a blog reader, I see this as a definite mixed bag. While I will miss the kits and their beautiful contents – it would be good to see more of our projects and creativity too. I respect and admire your talent and courage – and those are things that can never be taken from you. Best wishes to you as you change paths – and know that you have a lot of admiration and support out here in the blogosphere.ReplyCancel

Thank you for this little note. I did Love the kits but I’m kind of happy because I haven’t had a chance to use them. I had signed up for the year. I loved the things you had designed for them and I loved the supplies inside but now I don’t have to feel bad that the box just sets there for “one day when I have the time”. Hugs!! Can’t wait to see the next door you step through.
    God Bless you.ReplyCancel

You don’t mention why the kits are being discontinued , and I must admit to being puzzled, for with 500 odd subscribers, surely profitability could not have been the issue. At any rate, I am one of .those subscribers, and I have been
totally satisfied with the kits I have received. I have paid much more each
month for scrapbooking kits, and did not receive as much product, or. carefully
developed project instructions. The kits were lovely, and contained. almost infinite potential for creative use. Another bonus has been that I live in a
town that does not have a dedicated scrapbooking store, and I loved
Receiving products that are not normally available to me. Take pride in a job well done, and. best luck in. future. Endeavors.ReplyCancel

Becca, i just got my February kit today, my very first one. I opened the box and everything in it is beautiful and I cannot wait to create with all of my new supplies. I got online to thank you for creating such beautiful products but sad to see that you will be discontinuing that endeavor. I have followed your blog for a long time now and have always respected your gorgeous creations and your blog. Although we will be missing out on great kits (probably the best one out there), it’s more important for you to be comfortable and happy in what you do. Have at it, we’ll be here looking over your shoulder hoping we can create something as half as beautiful as you do. Take care, luv ya! PamReplyCancel

Well Becca, I am sad to think that the kits are discontinued, I just bought my first on, received it yesterday and LOVE it. However, I LOVE you more and want you to be happy. There is no one in blog land that inspires me more than you, so if this decision helps you be happier, healthier, and more creative, then you have made the right decision and I accept it wholeheartedly. Now if you ever decide to “go away” completely, that is a different story. PLEASE DON’T DO THAT EVER! May the Lord bless you generously, as you bless all of us with your wonderful talents. • SueFebruary 21, 2013 - 9:16 am

I love your work and follow you but thought your kits too expensive. Somehow, I thought they were basically the Spellbinders die and a stamp, with just enough paper to do four cards and I thought four cards at $57 was pretty high. I didn’t realize they included extra paper until I read your note and most of the comments and then you know that feeling, “Oh, no, these will no longer be available!”. It seems we appreciate more what is no longer there! So I looked up your kits to see what I would be missing and saw all the stuff included! It sounds like you send enough paper, etc. to make dozens of cards, so I ordered two kits.

I am so thankful you will still be blogging. I don’t understand all this kind of stuff but I hope that somehow you are able to make your living while doing all this wonderful blogging and tutorials. When I first started looking at Spellbinders cards I noticed I was especially drawn to certain cards and in time came to realize they were yours! God has given you a great talent! Keep it up! You inspire us all! Southern SueReplyCancel
