Serenity Card - Amazing Paper Grace
Greetings blog friends, I truly hope you are having a wonderful week!!  Today I took time to make a card for my sweet daughter who is going through a challenging time.  Ever the optimist, for the first time I see her in a different light as she struggles to get on top of some of the obstacles that life often places in front of us.  She one of the most level headed, tell-it-like-it-is, cut-and-dry people that I know, but we all know how easy it is give advice to others than it is to look inward and know what to do with our own dilemmas.  Even with grown kids I feel like the mom running after the youngster on their first attempt without the training wheels.  I guess that never stops.  I’m good to stand back and not look alarmed; it makes me feel like I’m doing something supportive to send her a card with some subtle reminders :-)

Serenity Card Close - Amazing Paper Grace

So you know that lately I’ve been gushing about digital papers; this one came to me just in the nick of time.  I found a new site (OScraps) that I simply love and this Serenity Paper was one of the projects – I know I’ll use this a lot!!  I printed it out but changed the colors of the filled in “o’s” so that they are all the same color.   The Gingham Paper also comes from the same site.   I know that some of you don’t like digital, but my craft budget this year calls for drastic measures, lol.  Starting with a 6″ x 6″ base I layered on the gingham paper followed by a layer with the serenity paper cut with Spellbinders™ Grand Squares (5″).  Once I know that I have one square layer, it’s a cinch on my paper cutter to glue then trim while keeping things neat and tidy.   I cut the new Spellbinders™ Just Swingin’ die template – it’s so whimsical it makes me smile!  I wanted to keep the cutout white, so I edged the die with my ink so that it would stand out a little bit from the background.  I tied a vertically oriented bow then added a sweet little tag from Spellbinders™ Back to Basics Tags and stamped one of the impactful words from Words of Faith.

I’m sending this to her at work in hopes it will live on her desk and give her the gentle reminder that she can’t control the world and others and that things will be all right if she surrenders what she can’t change.  Hmmmm, what was that I said about easy to give advice?  I think I’ll take some too :-)

Beautiful, and what a wonderful way to keep your daughter reminded. And to remember Mama is still watching over her too. Yes, it IS so hard, and although we let them go, we really don’t let them go, do we? (I don’t anyway!). Thanks for the links to some good websites, and I just saw the S/B swing die ‘in person’ today in my stamp group. Really a lovely one. You did it proud. TFSReplyCancel

As a mother I know how hard to see your kids go through difficulties and just stand back and let them deal with it
It is very hard… but praying for them is the most powerful thing a mom can do

I can tell you from experience, you will never hurt more than to know your child is in pain and nothing is harder than to stand back and let them go through it knowing that is what needs to be. I am now on my round of grand children so I guess it never ends. Best advice I ever listened to….. Be Still And Know That I Am God….. : ) DeniceReplyCancel

A truely gorgeous card here Becca, and I´m sure, it´ll cheer your daughter up, when she see this. It can only put her in a good mood to look at this beauty.
I agree, it´s always sooo much easier to know, what everybody else have to do, but suddenly pretty difficult, when it´s one self, but that´s how life is too.

This is a beautiful card which your daughter will love. I’m sure that as a parent it must be so difficult to stand by helpless when your child is suffering. In the words of the hymn by C A Gabriel “Just Keep On Praying Till Light Breaks Through” – God is there!

By the way I love the Just Swinging die.

This came at just the right time. My granddaughter just turned 16 and got her drivers license this week. I spent all of last year teaching her how to drive and while she is a good, careful driver, I’m a basket case. I can barely function due to worrying about her driving in our area of crazy traffic and drivers. I’ve been praying all the time about it but am struggling.
    Okay, I feel better now.
Love this card and your sweet spirit.
Good luck and wishes to your daughter.

Is the 52 Inspirations from O’Scrap the 2013 edition? I attend Celebrate Recovery and I have NEVER seen the entire Serenity Prayer in a format available for card-making/scrapping.

I found O’Scrap but they don’t give any details about what is contained so if you could let me know if that is the right product, I will tell them you sent me.

From the second I saw the new borders, I knew they had to be mine.  There, I said it.  I’ve waited patiently a couple of days to post this card that I played around with right before new years.  These borders are so versatile, you can use one, two or border a whole card or page with them.  Being a border junkie, I can finally put the border exactly where ‘I’ want it and ‘I’ say what’s top and what’s bottom.   You might say that I’m border empowered, now!!  I created a panel using the new Spellbinders™ A2 Bracket Borders One.   It was the perfect jumping off point  for a sweet new Valentines Day set from Waltzingmouse Stamps called My Heart, that is deliciously distressed.  I cut the leaf heart out by hand and stamped my sentiment in the center of the heart.  Then I threaded a corsage pin through the filigree openings of the die cut border and added a bow.

Many of you asked about the digital paper I used on my last card from January 1.  My record keeping is horrible and I simply pulled it and this one from a stack of papers I had printed some time ago – I’ll keep looking, but email me if this looks familiar.  Most of my digital papers are from the Crafty Secrets CD’s HERE.

*If you’re visiting from the Scrapbook.com Podcast, Welcome! This is the blog post Becca Feeken mentioned as the first die she designed in 2013. Keep reading to see the other projects she mentions!*

Sweet Blog Friends it is ‘that’ time of year again!!  Seriously, you cannot imagine how excited I am to have a new Spellbinders die template to share with you today!!  What makes it even better is that it’s the first die template I’ve designed for Spellbinders; I’m a new Spellbinders licensed designer, squeal!!!!  I thought of something you might want to see in a template, because so many of you send me your dreaming emails.   I’m sharing Spellbinders™ A2 Filigree Delight S5-177 (this die is no longer available).  It conveniently layers with the A2 Sized Card Maker System of dies and is beautiful enough to stand alone in elegant invitations, dressy cards and three dimensional projects.  Today, the first of two projects I’ve created is a keepsake, a Filigree Dimensional Frame that holds a wallet sized picture.

You can see all Amazing Paper Grace Dies at this link on the Scrapbook.com website.

Spellbinders Filigree Delight Project - www.amazingpapergrace.com
It can be sent flat and when opened up, can be dressed up for permanent display under a glass candle globe.  I’ve made several (gush!) and a duplicate of this one of my sweet girls college graduation, graces the table in the entryway in my home.  I can’t wait to make another for a new baby my friend just had!  It’s just a step up from a card and something I know she’ll keep.
Spellbinders Filigree Delight - www.amazingpapergrace.com
This is one of the simplest projects I’ve made; the step-by-step, no fail directions and pictures (click pictures for enlarged view) are listed below:

Supply List:

SUPPLIES
Die Template: Spellbinders™ A2 Filigree Delight S5-177 (discontinued) See the current Amazing Paper Grace selection at Scrapbook.com
Cross Promotional Partners:
May Arts Silk Ribbon SK19, Imagine Crafts – Tsukineko Versafine Onyx Black
Supplies:  Wallet sized picture, EK Success 12” x 12” Cardstock – Pink Viburnum, The Paper Company 12” x 12” Cardstock – Cream White,  Maya Roads Triple Pearl Pin, The Paper Studio 5mm Flat Pearl Stickers, Signed, Sealed, Delivered Stampset – JustRite Papercrafts, Recollections Detail Clear Embossing Powder, Ranger Glossy Accents Gloss Medium, 10” Thread – Coats and Clark – Button & Carpet, Glass Candle Stand (Michaels) Optional
Tools:  Foam Tape, Wax Paper, Wire Cutters and Safety Glasses, Becca’s Bow Maker
Cutting

Using A2 Filigree Delight S5-177 and larger inner oval – tape templates together so that each of your cuts will be identical.  Cut/emboss six panels from pink card stock, using wax paper for a quick release.

Cut/emboss two of the smaller inner oval motifs from cream card stock.  With a light pencil, trace inside of smaller inner oval motif over your stamped sentiment and your picture; trim to size with scissors.  (Hint:  The inner oval is comparable in size to Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals Small #3 Die Template)

Scoring
Score each of the filigree panels along the center vertically, folding so that wrong side is outward.

Gluing and Assembling
Wrong sides together – use Glossy Accents sparingly on outer edge as well as rim of the oval opening to adhere each folded, scored panel on top of each.

Continue to adhere, until all six panels are in one stack.

Using Glossy Accents adhere both smaller inner oval motifs wrong sides together while sandwiching 10” length of strong thread along the vertical center.

Adhere first open edge to last open edge using Glossy Accents sparingly along outer edge as well as rim of the oval opening at the same time lay thread and attached smaller inner oval motifs along the center channel before matching the first and last open edge.  Once Glossy Accents has dried, trim thread on bottom.

Using Foam Tape mount picture on one side of one oval motif and sentiment on the other side of one oval motif. Then apply three flat pearl stickers to each flap of the dimensional frame.

Tie a stand alone bow from Silk May Arts Ribbon and spear center with Maya Roads Triple Pearl Pin.  Using Wire Cutters and wearing Protective Glasses, cut pin to 1.5” length or substitute regular straight pin.

Apply Glossy Accents sparingly to the opening hole where all the legs of the Dimensional Frame come together then insert cut pin.  Trim thread.

Display in Glass Candle Holder and take a second to marvel and what you’ve created!  Now have another peek at what this die template looks like when incorporated into a card!!

If your taste is a simple project like a card to send to someone special, this one is easy – the die template does all the work for you!

The open filigree allows you to showcase anything behind it.  It’s your choice whether to keep the panel solid or use the included oval to make it framed to showcase your sentiment.  I’ve cut mine out of gold foil paper, but white would make a very delicate, lacy overlay.  Because the die layers with the other A2 Cardmaker Sets, you simply cut out additional layers, stack and then you’re done.  So I hope you see something that will tickle your crafting fancy!
