Happy sleep late, lollygag in sweat pants, weekend day blog friends.  All I can tell you is that today, nothing can keep me from smiling and humming and singing my favorite songs off-key.  It’s a busy day but I’m blessed to be busy.  How about you?  Isn’t just the ‘little’ things that accumulate like snow to make you feel that life is good?  Yep!  Well, another card to share today and this one is for Valentines Day although the outside sentiment will disguise it as just about anything.  I used a sentiment and matching label stamp from JustRite Papercrafts  set called Vintage Pearl Labels.  It’s mounted on a custom JustRite Die called Vintage Labels that matches the stamp set.  I pulled out a Martha Stewart punch and punched 9 times to make the 4-3/4″ square background.

Don’t forget, JustRite Papercrafts is having a fabulous New Years Sale and everything on the site is 25% off.  In my experience they have sales throughout the year, but never at 25% so if you are a frugal coupon shopper like me – I’m just sayin’ :-)

SUPPLIES I USED

Paper:  My Minds Eye – Bloom, Coredinations, The Paper Company – Coral

Okay, so it’s time to shed the sweats and run some errands.  Hugs to you friends, and those of you up north in the snow storm, warm hugs!

Interestingly, just before I got notice of this latest blog post, I had been reviewing some of your work using MS punches to make medallions as mentioned on Andrea Ewen’s blog. She referred to your tutorial as the beginning point of a slightly different use of the MS corner punches that she likes to use… How strange that all roads seem to lead in that direction today!!

Between the two of you, I have been inspired to look at all my punches a bit differently so that I may be able to come up with some lovely creations such as this one you have for us today… such a beauty!!

I just wish I could find a way to keep the dust bunnies at bay so I could spend hours and hours playing with the tools I have and incorporating your ingenuity into my “play”. I have retired from most cooking but other things still seem to interfere with my crafting time. I don’t know how those of you on Design Team schedules manage it!! Kudos and best wishes for the New Year!!ReplyCancel

I too would like to know the trick to the MS all over the page punch, punching it so close together. I purchased 2 of them after receiving a card with that type of punch used just as medallions, I have been playing around with them to get them on the paper without a gap between them. Do you have or do you know if there is a tutorial out there to help all of us out.

Thank you for graciously posting your cards. You make my day sparkle.

Have a Happy New Year and keep bringing on your gorgeous cards.

Sweet blog friends, the fog of Christmas dinner has worn off and we’re turning the corner!  Reality hits as it is three days from the beginning of a new year!!  I really got caught up in Holiday cards quite late but wait until you see how far ahead of the game I am today – Mothers Day!!  I have a soft, feminine card to share – it makes me want to have several to share around.  You just know that I could never deny pink so I wallowed in my comfort zone today.  In fact, that will be one of my New Year’s resolutions – that it’s okay to make your own heart sing by doing the things you really enjoy!! This past month has found me being very kind to myself – beating myself up has stopped.  I’d encourage the same thing for you in the coming year – life is short.

I chose a pink ink and pearls to showcase this sweetly feminine background stamp called Elegant Damask Background from JustRite Papercrafts — it’s truly so stunning that I dare not cover it up!  I cut the background using Spellbinders™ Labels Eight which I framed with Spellbinders™ Decorative Labels Eight.  The sentiment from the Hugs and Kisses Sentiments set spans the card horizontally framed by Spellbinders™ French Frills.  I do like depth on my cards so I cut tiny pieces of foam tape to lift up the frame made with Decorative Labels Eight.   Lastly, an easy bow tied with the Bow Maker and embellished with a pearl and crystal and corsage pin make it undoubtedly girly!

By the way, ‘everything’ on the JustRite Papercrafts site is 25% off, just in case you want to get a jump on Valentines Day and Mothers Day or like me, you have a couple of gift cards from the holidays to satisfy your stamping wish list :-)

I’m so optimistic for you and me for the coming year!!  Hugs friends – you really make me smile!!

Sweetest blog friends, I wanted to be sure to peek in and wish you a Merry Christmas! I could not be more blessed than to have spent the day with two of my daughters. We connected with my son this morning over the iPad so that we could spend some time together and we also opened the gifts that we’d be sending to him.  Gotta love technology!  I’ll have to admit that cooking was at a minimum at my house this year and for the first time in my life we went out to dinner on Christmas eve and went out to breakfast on Christmas Day. It was jam packed, something I would not have guessed. I was telling the kids how different it was when I was younger – no stores were ‘ever’ open on Sunday and if you didn’t get something by nightfall you had to wait until the next morning and we never felt it was an inconvenience :-) Sweet daughter is on road driving back home now so all is quiet. I truly hope you too have been blessed to spend the holiday with loved ones.  I couldn’t resist one more Christmas item (made late in the evening while I was wrapping gifts) before I pull my papers and stash them away – I made an old worn bookmark with a distressed seam binding tassel.  I kept it all simple, but I do really love to make bookmarks and really do use them.  This one is for a small book so my little flower doesn’t get in the way, but for a larger book, simply omit it.

So glad to hear from you on Christmas day! So your girls were home = how nice!! Glad you enjoyed the holiday with family. I had 17 for breakfast and 13 for dinner. My husband and I did all the cooking. Lasagna with all the trimming and homemade cheesecake for dessert! Wish you lived closer, you and the girls could have come too! Love the bookmark.

Sounds like you had a Blessed Christmas indeed…so happy for you! Ours was quiet too – lots of long distance phone calls – cooking while listening to Christmas music – delicious meal around 1pm, and then naps – all and all a wonderful day! Now on to the pumpkin pie!

Having your family with you and that cares enough about you to make an effort to be with you is such a blessing. I am so glad you have children who love you so much. I didn’t think I was going to get to see my grand children at all today. They only live less than 2 miles from here but we always seem to get put on the back burner and are usually an after thought. They are one of the only joys I can seem to find these days and so I spent most of the day just hoping and praying their parents would find time to bring them by. This is also my first Christmas without my mom. It has really been a tough year for this family all the way around. Anyone who reads this, if you pray , and don’t mind praying for a person you have never met before, I would sure appreciate you saying a little prayer for my family. Just that we can be a happy Christian family with love for one another. If there is love in Christ, all else will fall in to place. I hope you all have a wonderful grace filled Christmas. God bless……. DeniceReplyCancel

What a lovely post, Becca. You always seem to have just the right words to express your feelings and it’s a delight reading your blog. I’m glad you were able to spend some quality time with your children, even if one was over the internet. It wasn’t very long ago that would not have been possible and now it’s commonplace! We’re having our family celebration tomorrow when my son gets home from working offshore. He’ll be off from tomorrow until after the New Year but we had to delay Christmas one day to accommodate his schedule. I spent today with my daughter-in-law helping her bake pumpkin bread and doing laundry and having fun with the grandkids. All of my cards and gifts were handmade this year and I was really happy with the way they turned out so I hope the recipients will be as happy with them as I am! LOL Your bookmark, simple as it may be, is just beautiful. I ever enjoy seeing your gorgeous creations even though I may not always comment. I’m off to bed so I can start my day early tomorrow.

Blessings to you on this special day and on into the new year.

    Hugs, AnneReplyCancel

Becca, I loved your bookmark. We also discuss at our home, how, on Sundays, if you did find a rare store opened, you did not patronize them…I was raised, that by patronizing them, you were enabling the store owner to stay open, and pay for the poor sole who had to work on the sabbath. Now this memory was one of childhood…

Sundays were a day of worship, rest and wonderful family time. Honestly, looking back….how did it happen? When did it happen?

I am thinking it happened, prior to me graduating from high school, which was 1972, because as an adult…I can’t place it…what is your memory?ReplyCancel

Merry Christmas, Becca! Our day was wonderfully noisy and chaotic and messy and festive…everything a family Christmas should be. All the kids and grandkids were here…and I cooked for 8 days straight in preparation. So, Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas breakfast at a restaurant sound pretty good to me right about now! LOL I haven’t crafted in days and days and days…I hope I remember how. Love your bookmark…it is simple and elegant, and the distressed tassel is wonderful. Today is officially ” PJ’s all day and no cooking at all ” for me, so hopefully, I’ll get some time in studio. Hugs to you, sweetest of all bloggers!ReplyCancel

Few days late seeing the posts. So glad your girls were with you.
Christmas is all about Christ and families, those are the most important
    things in this life.
Yes the good old days when stores were always closed on Sundays and all holidays. My church still teaches us to keep the Sabbath day Holy. We
don’t shop on sundays, play sports, go to movies, etc. We spend the day in rest, visiting family, reading, music, and going to church. Our bodys and our souls need a little rest in this busy world.

I love your bookmark and would really like to see how you make the tassle as I see you have a little topper on it. Could you please, please do a tutorial on it, ????
I like to put tassles on bookmarks and this is a really a neat different oneReplyCancel
