Brrrrr!!  Huddle up blog friends, it’s cold!!  I think the frosty temperatures inspired me to break out snowflake dies and stamps :-)  Plus, some serendipity to share.  While I was scrounging around my table for an embellishment to decorate my white bow, I just couldn’t find anything.  Nothing in all that stash!  In the past I’ve needed a brad to match something and have embossed it before with a colored embossing powder, but always a small item.  Today I was jazzed when I was able to emboss my filigree with white opaque embossing powder!  It’s the small things, right?

At any rate, for my card today I’m using the Small Snowflake Background as a base.  I layered on snowflakes stamped with the Sparking Snowflakes set and cut with ODBD Custom Snowflake Dies.  My sentiment on the bottom is from the Poinsettia Wreath set, embellished with a tiny snowflake swirl from the Snowflake Mini Set.

I love it– I think I could probably pull this one off.–On your filigree that you embossed. You can also just use Stazon–I have done that to my metal objects for years. Do not need to emboss just wait 10 min or so and let it dry.I had to do that as my heat gun died and could not justify a new one at that point..Santa are you reading this hint hint

Sweet blessings blog friends!!!  I hope you don’t mind another Christmas card!
Daughter is home and I put this together while we sat at the table to do some catch up.  To me it’s amazing to look back over the years and realize that just as people say, they grow up in the blink of an eye.  I knew it would be this way, but there’s no way to slow it down.  I love it that the holidays bring everyone home — what a comfort!  I hope you are in the midst of your own comfort today.   For my card today I’ve used coppers and mauve and non-traditional colors along with some vintage papers (musical notes and snowy angel) from Crafty Secrets – Creating with Vintage Christmas CD.

I started out with my card base then a panel using the musical notes.  On top of that I layered Spellbinders™ A2 Fancy Ribbon Threader (turned upside down).  On the next layer I included Spellbinders™ Vintage Lace Accents and my snow angel panel topped off by Spellbinders™ Twisted Metal Accents.   Lastly Snowflake Sentiments is cut from Spellbinders™ Back to Basics Tags.  Although it won’t get mailed this year – there’s always room in the stash for another one!!

    Hi Becca,

What a cozy picture that is in my mind – you and your daughter sitting around a table and catching up on all your news while you’re crafting. That’s exactly what Christmas is really all about, isn’t it?
I love the Victorian, vintage-y (is that a word? lol) look of this card. It’s such a feminine take on a Christmas card. It looks exactly like the ones they always have on show at a historic site in my home city. It’s the house where Canada’s first Prime Minister lived as a boy and every year they decorate it like crazy for Christmas. The house was built and occupied by his family during the Victoria era and Christmas decorations and gifts were so new and fashionable back then. Spruce and pine trees and boughs are placed and hung all throughout the house. Then the staff go crazy decorating everything with cards, cones and garlands in the same style you chose for your card.

Thanks for a wonderful reminder of my childhood! Merry Christmas and blessings to you and your family.ReplyCancel

  • Michelle CoonDecember 24, 2012 - 10:02 am

Hi there blog friends!  Are we snug and cozy, warm and toasty during this chill spell?  I think it’s cold almost everywhere, I even had to pull out the old parka, lol!!  Rev up the hot cocoa, I love this season and created another Christmas card; it’s a hybrid.  Well, what I mean is I reached right over and printed some yummy digital paper – yep, except for the solids, every bit of this card was popped out of my little printer.  I simply right clicked and the windows picture printer (Windows 7) popped up and I asked me to pick from a couple of sizes and voila.  Now don’t get me wrong, I do a lot of editing in Photoshop, but just printing out paper is fairly simple and the size didn’t have to be precise because I knew I’d be cutting it.  My sweet friends at Crafty Secrets simply made me swoon over their Creating with Vintage Christmas CD.  I simply had to have it because rest assured, it will still be in style next Christmas – gotta love vintage!

From the nice polka dot print, I simply cut a nice embossed square from Spellbinders™ Grand Squares.  Knowing I wanted to use the post card, I cut the largest motif from Spellbinders™ Holly Motifs, snipped it in half and hooked it over the edge of the card.  On top of each Holly Accent I nestled half of a Spellbinders™ Picot Edged Circle.  A couple of embellishments later and I have a hybrid card.  I always get so excited when I do this because I’m reminded that I can simply print and the storage takes no space in my craft room!!

SUPPLIES I USED
Paper: The Paper Company – Cream White, Crafty Secrets – Creating with Vintage Christmas CD
Ink: Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Grand Squares, Spellbinders™ Holly Motifs,  Spellbinders™ Picot Edged CircleHug Snug Seam Binding (oatmeal), Pearl Brads, Recollections Flat Gems, Lace

Stay warm sweet friends!!
