Dear Blog Friends, I hope you are ready for Christmas!!  Me?  Sadly no, lots left to do and quite a few deadlines looming but I thought I would take a second to post a card that I worked on during my downtime.  Ugh, decisions – I went through three versions of the background and reverted to the simplest – duh!  Anyways, while I’m busy on other things, thought I’d go ahead and post. :-)

Waltzingmouse Stamps had a fabulous, fabulous release this month and I couldn’t participate but it didn’t keep me from eventually getting this Ornate Ornaments set inky.  The set has matching stamps for Spellbinders™ 2012 Heirloom Ornaments and Spellbinders™ 2010 Heirloom Ornaments die templates, so I used both of those on my card.  I used Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals SM to cut frame openings in each of the ornaments  then seated my pearl pic and bow in the center.  I love the sweet little sentiment – I don’t have this one anywhere in my stash.  After cutting it out with Spellbinders™ Back to Basics Tags, I glued it to the center of the bow with linen thread.  The background is Spellbinders™ Ornamental Iron (Side A).  Lol, through all my trials with changing up the background, I found a new one – new to me at any rate.  Hope to have a card with that soon :-)

Becca, You are so talented. You can make one embosser look so different just by changing the placement of pearls, the color, and the paper. I envy your talent. You have said you have had some health issues and I pray for you every day but I am asking for additional blessings for you this Christmas. God bless you and thank you for sharing your talent with us. GeorgiaReplyCancel

Hello sweet blog friends!  Have you ever made a card and decided something just wasn’t right.  It nags you the whole time, but you plod along on the original course, laying it down, looking at it, picking it up, laying it down, glancing at it sideways . . .  You get the picture?  Happens to me all the time.  I’ve been waiting to use this sweet Die D-Lite Spellbinders™ Medallion One (can you say favorite?) and I knew it would be perfect to create a lacy background.  Once I was done, I was pleased with the look then started piling things on, and on, and on.  Long story short, when I was done, (including a huge panel with a sentiment on the front), you couldn’t see a bit of the gorgeously intricate work of the die.  It was a crime I tell ya!!  On the way to take pictures, I turned right back around and reconstructed.  The large sentiment – in the trash; small pennant, smaller sentiment – felt much better.  See, crime averted :-)

This one was really a cinch.  Using a 5″ x 5″  cream panel, I cut Medallions One – four times, embellishing with pearls.  To keep things from looking too boxy, I added scallops on the bottom using Spellbinders™ Classic Edges One.   I added a smaller sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs from the Away In A Manger Set; it fit wonderfully on Spellbinders™ Nested Pennants.   I added another light brown panel and secured everything to a 6″ x 6″ card base.   I finished up with some $1 Bin Poinsettia’s from Michaels.

So pretty, Becca…I think it would look even better if you placed your lovely flower over the medallion in the lower right hand corner and let the pennant flow from there. I think it would give it some ballast…there’s still something not quite balanced here….although it is beautiful!ReplyCancel

So very glad you avoided prosecution for the terrible crime of “something not being quite right”! Have been there and done that as well. Sometime I just have to let the card sit there overnight and wait for the new day to inspire me to correct whatever the error was. Funny how the dawn of a new day can give you inspiration. Guess you don’t always have that luxury if you are trying to meet a deadline. Anyway, I am so happy that your recent surgery did nothing to take away your great sense of humor. Blessings & Hugs.ReplyCancel

Sweet blog friends, I hope you are embarking on a fabulous Monday!!   Me? There are lots of little projects on my desk and I’m having a distracted time trying to make myself finish off some pressing deadlines before jumping on another idea that pops into my head.  Ever have that happen to you?  While I was taking a break over the weekend it dawned on me that every Christmas I make a simple red and white card.  I just love the pop of the color, so I cranked this out very quickly.  It’s much simpler than what I normally make but I didn’t want it to get complicated, keeping the color the focal point.  My sweet friend Suzanne with Quietfire Design put some amazing Christmas Stamps in my hand this season and this one was calling out to be framed – Christmas Waves a Magic Wand.

I started out with a white card base and added the fully embossed motif from Spellbinders™ M-Bossabilities™ Winter Wonders (Side B).  I mounted the embossed panel, matted with red onto my card base.  Using Spellbinders™ Marvelous Squares and the second and third largest templates, I created my frame.   I lined my frame with a negative cutout left over from cutting Spellbinders™ Labels Twenty Six – taking care to make sure that none of the red showed on the outside of my frame.  Next, I added a layer of foam tape under each layer to elevate the frame and give it some depth.  Lastly a big bow :-)  Many of you ask how I tie them, and would you be surprised if I told you that 99% of the bows I make are made using the Peg Bow Maker?  It  comes with a DVD that shows the double and triple bows I make – mystery solved!!

Stunning card, Becca. I love the simplicity of the colour scheme, but then you showcase those two colours with the beauty of the die cuts. I just have to make this one. Many thanks.ReplyCancel

My first thought was the simple beauty! Then I thought, “Wait, Becca doesn’t do simple!” LOL! But with all the wonderful layers, die-cutting, embossing and ribbon, it’s not all that simple! Just simply beautiful! :o)ReplyCancel

Happy Monday to you Becca! I took one look at your red and white card and I said “OMG, I love this, and NEED to buy that embossing folder!” It is now on order, along with the pine tree folder, plus three others! Your card is absolutely gorgeous and strikingly beautiful. The first of the year when I start making my cards for 2013 (that’s what I’m saying now) I’ll be trying my best to duplicate your card. Thanks so much for sharing Becca, I always look forward to your posts.ReplyCancel
