Another beauty of a card Becca. Love how you layered the various dies and and how you stenciled each one, something that I keep forgetting to do when making cards. I’m still sticking with the idea that you bought into Justrite Papercrafters, or that you are going to start your own business just designing your own rubber stamps with matching dies.ReplyCancel

  • ChristineAugust 13, 2012 - 7:46 am

Love the blue & white combo on this card, Becca. As for the ‘suspense’, still think that it is a new die range to go with your stamps. LOL.

  • SianAugust 13, 2012 - 7:56 am

I love the fact that you consider this card to be a ‘simple’ one! That for me would be an OTT card and I so wish I could pull it off!

Ok, so on the guessing front…hmm…I was thinking more stamps, but from the way you’re ‘speaking’ I’m guessing it’s something totally new. Hmm…are you going to do an online class so that we can all attempt to create beautiful things like you do?! I do hope so!! :)ReplyCancel

You could have your own line of anything frilly, pins, say where did the end cap for the pin come from, I will have to research. I love those, you could have a matching line of inks . I would love your own line of Christian stamps. Ones with lots of fronts that are scrolls. A set of scripture to memorize.ReplyCancel

Gorgeous card design & I love the softness of the colors. (Did you realize the card BG paper almost matches the blog BG used here?) The only thing I can think of for your “BIG” news would either be dies to match your stamps, new stamps or your own designer paper line. Anyway, it’s got us soooooo excited that we are on the edge of our seats! Thank you, Becca!ReplyCancel

  • Marcie SmithAugust 13, 2012 - 10:50 am

OK Becca, when I finally get my order of new Spellbinders (should be coming in the next couple of weeks), I am going to have some serious questions on how you created that medallion with the Asian Accent dies. Right now as I am flipping back and forth from the picture of the dies and your medallion, I just can’t figure it out. Maybe when I actually have the dies in hand I will be able to.
Having said that, my next guess might be a tutorial on how you manipulate some of these dies to create these gorgeous medallions. Kind of like the ones you did using MS punches. You did say today that it was “a little surprise”.
    MarcieReplyCancel

  • CCAugust 13, 2012 - 10:51 am

Well, maybe you are going to put out a craft book sharing your style of card making… things like how you decide which Spellbinders dies will work together to make the beautiful layered cards that you are known for. OK Becca, I have been thinking about this! These are things that I KNOW you can do–design dies, write a book showcasing the techniques you use to create your amazing cards, have a traveling ” Becca teaches all class” so that we can all learn how to do what you do, start your own online store complete with online classes featuring YOU as the teacher, start your own “Challenge Blog” and have people designing for and with you using your products, have your own “tv show” showcasing and teaching people how to Paper Engineer like a pro! Can’t hardly wait to hear your news and see what blessings God has in store for you!ReplyCancel

You are so amazingly talented, nothing you announce would surprise me. I believe that anything you set your mind to, you will accomplish. I’m thinking you have been asked to be on another design team but which one would you say yes to?????? I don’t think you would say yes to just anyone. I believe that it would have to be someone with your believes, your integrity, your drive. Hmmm, maybe instead of being on someones else design team, you are starting your own company. Now that I could see!!! Oh, and your card. Stunning! As they all are but I do love the blue and white combination and the amazing layers you create. Each layer compliments the other and your cards are never “over done”, you know exactly when to say when. I wish I could make mine look like this. I truly love this card!!! I also want to say Congratulations! I know whatever your announcement is it’s probably a biggie and you deserve it.ReplyCancel

Hello again… the cards, today and yesterday are both stunners! You are such a gifted crafter Becca. I began layering years ago when I began following your blog. You have so much to offer and I love your style – specifically your ability to visualize unlimited possibilities with color combinations and on paper partnering. You have a wonderful talent for putting design elements together. To go on from my comment yesterday; Once you have launched your company and get a great management team in place, you can begin to write books and teach people your methods and how to release their own creative spirits! I see you doing this Becca… Whatever it is you have going I will be cheering for you! Can’t hardly wait…ReplyCancel

  • JaneyAugust 14, 2012 - 8:48 am

Hi there blog friends, I’m about to burst!!  I may have hinted that “something seriously cool” was going to happen in August and guess what, only three more sleeps until I can reveal it here. Have I piqued your curiousity?  So to celebrate this “something seriously cool”, I’m giving away blog candy to those brave enough to venture a guess.  You all usually try to guess anyway so why not be in the running for some goodies?   Wait a minute!  I know someone will say – didn’t you just release stamps.  Yes, that’s true – I just released three sets of stamps with JustRite Papercrafts in July – but that’s not it – it’ll be a little bit tougher to guess than that!!  So in your comment, leave your best guess today and then come back tomorrow to guess again; there will be a post for you to guess every day until I can reveal on Wednesday, August 15th and I’ll announce a winner then too (randomly pulled from the three days of comments)
.    The candy is a $35.00 gift card, once picked, the winner has 24 hours to respond.

In the meantime, I have a card to share today using one of this month’s releases from JustRite Papercrafts.  One of my favorite new die templates is Spellbinders Botanical Swirls and Accents.  I used the motif to make a criss-cross card.  It fit perfectly on the JustRite Papercrafts Fragrant Garden Background Stamp released this month.  I centered the sentiment on Spellbinders™ Asian Accents using the JustRite Antique Autumn Tags One set and finished off with some prima paper roses and foliage using Spellbinders™ Foliage.

Several of you had the sweetest idea to tuck a card in my dear daughters suitcase.  Well, that didn’t happen but this will get sent along this week  just to let her know I’m thinking of her.  Thank you for such a wonderful idea!

SUPPLIES I USED
StampsJustRite Papercrafts – Fragrant Garden Background StampAntique Autumn Tags One
Paper:  PTI – Black, K and Company, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Asian AccentsSpellbinders™ FoliageSpellbinders™ Botanical Swirls and Accents, seam binding, prima paper roses, Recollections Pearls, copic markers

I just love surprises, I hope you do too!!  Thanks for stopping by!!  By the way, sweet daughter got on the road yesterday and arrived at her destination safely.  Thanks so much for all your prayers!!

I’m sure your daughter will love it even if it didn’t get placed in her suitcase. I can’t wait to see what wonderful endeavor you are going to launch, but whatever it is, I wish you all the best. You definitely deserve it and I know it will be fantastic.ReplyCancel

Becca – my very first thought was that you designed some Spellbinders or your own line of dies to go with your new stamps for the August release….but it could be many other things too….digital papers? something to do with ribbon? some other tool to help us all in our crafting? I would be thrilled with any of the above…I am thinking that Spellbinders might also hire you to make videos to show all your wonderful ideas in the creation stages of card making. I love spellbinders dies but I wish they had a ton more videos with ideas! I love your videos Becca – seeing is such a wonderful way to learn – I can pause the video while I am working and then restart it when I am ready. I am a visual learner!

No matter what it is I wish you continued blessings in all that you do. It could not happen to a nicer woman!

Humm, does this have to do with your love for design or does it have to do with something more personal??? When I first saw your post, I immediately thought – “Guess Becca is going to work full time for JustRite Papercrafts.” My next thought was like so many others – “What if Becca is going to create some really cool dies for Spellbinders?” Now I’m on my third thought! “Is something special happening in Becca’s life?” Guess I’ll have to wait along with the others.

First off, I absolutely LOVE the richness of this card. I don’t usually steer towards such dark colors, at least all on one card, but this card is exraordinary! A lot of thoughts have run through my mind as far as what you are going to reveal on Wednesday, but this particular thought keeps coming back to me … you are going to become part owner of Justrite Stampers, or you are going to start your own stamp and matching die company. Justrite Stampers has really come a long way in the past year, I just love all their new products, so different than any other rubber stamp site, so just being associated with them has to be a huge honor.ReplyCancel

Love your card Becca. That blue is such a pretty blue. Your techniques are yours and yours along. So elegant and yet not done to the extreme. I would love to be in a position to look at a project through your eyes so I could see how you look at things. I keep thinking you are going to start your own stamp company and have Spellbinders dies to match your stamps. Whatever the venture, you will be fantastic at the endeavor. You always are. And you must have a great deal of patients, like when you work with punches to figure out yet another way to use it. That takes time and patients!! Bless you with your new venture. And I am glad your daughter arrived safely at her new destination. See you are both venturing into new territory. Sometime it takes a change to “revive” a soul. Hugs, LindaReplyCancel

This card is beautiful. Love it. Maybe u r going to b a guest designer for a die or stamp company?ReplyCancel

Hi there blog friends, this is a set that I’ve had on my desk for several weeks, that I’ve been dying to play with.  In between all the moving and saying goodbye, I stole out to the studio and finished up the stawberries in the basket.  I’d call this project a welcome break, seriously, this.was.fun!  The sweet strawberry set was an additional release by Waltzingmouse Stamps in July, it’s called Big Berries – Strawberry.  In addition, very soon the kit with the strawberries is coming to Waltzingmouse also.  You won’t have to use a wicker basket though, because there’s a sweet basket pattern to go along with it.

I made the card by stamping the strawberry and sentiment on a strip of paper and then I hand trimmed the left edge and cut a pennant on the right edge.  For the background I used one of the new Spellbinders Asian M-Bossabilities™.  I guess I just noticed that the border from Spellbinders™ Asian Accents matched the arcs on the embossed background, so I added the border above my stamping.  From the same set, I pulled a doily-like element for some interest in the top right corner.

It’s not often that I reach for grosgrain ribbon, but the punch of the red ribbon and white polka dots matched the strawberry so nicely.  I finished up with a pearl flourish and a flower from Spellbinders™ Ribbon Buckles to top off the bow.

The small strawberries are sooo easy to make.  I cut them out with my Silhouette Cameo.  Once cut, it was easy to fold them and secure them.  I topped each one off with a small corsage pin stuck down through the middle.  Gotta have a pearl somewhere :-)

ETA:  As I went to post this, I noticed that the strawberries and the sweet basket are uploaded and they are free.  Have a look, won’t you? Claire explains everything you’ll need – they can be cut with a machine or by hand!!  The link is below – http://waltzingmouse.blogspot.com/2012/07/freebie-strawberry-suite-templates-and.html

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Waltzingmouse StampsBig Berries – Strawberry
Paper: The Girls Paperie, Lasting Impressions, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, The Paper Company

Becca, this is so cute. I love strawberries and even cover an old frig with wrapping paper that had strawberries on it and then put modge podge over the top. We use it for 8 years, like that and now it painted dark green in the basement. It’s still working and is about 50 years old or so. I had forgotten about it till now. Life goes on.
