Hi there sweet blog friends!!  I love making wedding cards so today I have a new one to add to the stash!  Keep in mind I’m still playing around with new Spellbinders Die Templates and I love making filigree kind of flowers so a new one.  I love the lacey look and you’ll be a little bit surprised what I used.  Of course I was tickled to use the new JustRite Papercrafts set released this month called Ever After Antique Labels – it has all your wedding/anniversary celebration cards covered.

Of the new dies, there is the sweetest little frame in Spellbinders™ Jewel Framed Sentiments – yep, this one is heading right up my favorites list.  I took the oval frame and cut it six times.  On the upper part of the frame there’s a hole that’s perfect for a brad so I stacked all six up, put in my brad then spread the ovals around like I was playing cards.   It was that easy!  Then I grabbed the new spiral flower Spellbinders™ Spiral Blossom Four and created a rose for the center then added corner pieces using Spellbinders™ Venetian Motifs.  I finished off with a tiny tag from Spellbinders™ Back to Basics Tags that was just the right size for my sentiment.  Ahhh, time to play – there’s nothing like it!

This card is one of my favorites! Absolutely beautiful! I love making paper roses but I don’t have a die. I do it free hand by drawing and cutting out a spiral. Did I mention Amazing Paper Grace is my “go to” website when I need card ideas? I love your style. I appreciate you sharing your talents. God Bless You!ReplyCancel

Grrrrrr! Just when I think there is a Spellbinders set that I convince myself I probably don’t need, you go and make something awesome from it!!! And now I have to have that oval so I can make that fabulous filagree flower. You are just a paper genius, Becca, I know I sound like a broken record, but I honestly think you could make a beautiful card from a rusty tin can. What a gift you are to the paper world.ReplyCancel

Gorgeous card. Francie is right that nobody in the world would think of using frames in this manner around the rose. It always surprises me when you explain how you put these cards together using assorted dies. I can sit there for hours and not come up with this stuff. Amazing is the right word. Let the creative juices flow cause we all love the results. Not having all the latest and greatest dies does put in motion a way to try and emulate “kind of” the same result…close. LOL. Sweet Friends, I have another ensemble to share with you today.  This is a project that I made back in the early part of June and I could just kick myself because I was in such a hurry that I didn’t take enough pictures to show the surprising part of the creation (stay tuned below).  Well, as you can guess, this ensemble features Spellbinders™ Marvelous Squares.  I was so intrigued by the loops on the sides of the design and how they just coincidentally were just the right size for ribbon, that I spent a lot of time experimenting with weaving using that die template.  I love the results.  This is the easiest weaving you’d ever want to do because as soon as you get started, you are done!!  Several years ago I made a woven creation that was a little bit more involved (HERE); this creation is 10 times easier.

For the 4″ x 4″ card I used a great sentiment set from JustRite Papercrafts called Large Fancy Sentiments.  I created my card base from the same papers used in the box then did the simple 3 by 3 weaving on the second largest piece from Spellbinders™ Marvelous Squares.  I finished up by adding the sentiment on foam tape, a flower made using Spellbinders Spiral Blossoms Four and pearls, of course.   It was so easy to add a pearl pic by just placing it inside the weaving.  Not sure you can do the weaving?  This is the simplest place to start – 6 pieces of ribbon and over, under, over or under, over, under as seen above.  The ribbon is simply taped on the back side.  Tackle this and you’ll be a pro by the time it comes to making a box!

I’m always, always afraid that my boxes will become crushed.  This time I simply altered a box by covering it.  It’s clear, my dear – It’s a clear box from Hobby Lobby.  In my haste I did not take a picture of the original box but I will try to purchase another and add a picture and dimensions in the coming days.  This box was just the right size!!  I simply cut four sections of Marvelous Squares and wove three ribbons
all four squares and then three ribbons were woven up and down on each square.  This creates a sleeve that can be slipped over the clear box and I added a couple of strategic glue dots to keep it on.  The inside is awesome.  I took four panels of paper sized to fit the box and dropped them in.  The lid is a standard folded lid that once constructed I turned over and pressed the clear lid inside.  This is one tough baby and it won’t cave in!!

The lid is decorated with Spellbinders Spiral Blossoms Four before adding some seam binding, tulle and lace.

SUPPLIES I USED
StampsJustRite Papercrafts – Large Fancy Sentiments
Paper:  My Minds Eye, Bazzill
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Marvelous Squares, Spellbinders Spiral Blossoms Four, seam binding, lace, tulle, Recollections Pearls, Pearl Pics

Hope your weekend is going well!  Go ahead, be optimistic . . . something good is always on the way!!

I was looking for that tutorial to try it again, but I just couldn’t find it. I’m SO excited. And in addition that, this one is also just so cool! Oh happy day! I feel like doing the Snoopy dance! =DReplyCancel

  • Carol WJuly 22, 2012 - 9:46 am

Wow! You keep giving me more and more reasons to get these Marvellous Squares dies.
I also love how you embellish with rolled roses (I must bust out my Bitty Blossoms dies!) from coordinating paper. A good reminder that once you invest in the dies, you don’t need to buy many embellishments — you can make all you need, and perfectly coordinate them!
I just reread this and it sounds like I’m doing a sales pitch. I’m just a plain old crafter, not a company rep! The thing is, I’m just so grateful to you, Becca, for always showing us how to get the most out of our tools. :-)ReplyCancel

Hello there blog friends!  Oh how I’ve missed you!!  Tucked away in the frenzy of CHA (Craft and Hobby Association Convention), my head is simply swimming with everything I’ve seen and bordering on overload.  I have to say that it was a lightly attended convention but was brimming with new lines and lots of old friends – I even tucked in a class or two.   It was my highlight to get hugs from quite a few of you – you know who you are!!  My new stamps sets received a warm welcome and I’ll just be honest, my confidence is boosted!   Believe it or not, I had cards prepared to show while I was away and simply didn’t get time or have the internet access to get them up.  I thought I might peek in today and share a card I made using one of my sets by JustRite Papercrafts called Vintage Filigree Fancies and several of the new Spellbinders.

Blinged out a little bit more than normal, I’m using the new Spellbinders™ Decorative Labels Eight along with Spellbinders™ Botanical Swirls and Accents.  I searched in my stash for some Prima bling and honestly it takes this very simple card and zooms it another level.  I mounted two  panels from Botanical Swirls behind a Decorative Labels Eight Panel – that’s it!  On the edge, a seam binding bow made with the Peg Bow Maker and a crystal to match the bling.  I normally use pearl bling but think that the crystal bling is growing on me

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps:  JustRite Papercrafts – Vintage Filigree Fancies
Paper: American Crafts, Bazzill, Neenah Solar White
Ink: Colorbox Chalk Ink – Prussian Blue
AccessoriesSpellbinders™ Decorative Labels Eight along with Spellbinders™ Botanical Swirls and Accents

Unpacking and taking care of a water mishap that happened while away, but so thankful to be home and thankful to be through the series of heavy deadlines that kept me busy during May, June and July.  I’m feeling so creative, I hope you are too!!  Thanks for stopping by, see you soon!!

Welcome back talented and gracious lady! This first-back-from-CHA card is amazing. What type of MAGIC do you do to get the shiny stones to hang in mid-air? What connects them? (Talking about the ones I see towards the right side of the card, to the right of the second line of your verse.) Do they come on some kind of nearly invisible acrylic sheet that holds the together? They do not appear to be touching the striped paper??ReplyCancel

Soo good to hear from you again too Becca, and glad to hear all went so well with the new stamps, and they were so well recieved. But I´m not surprised at all, cause they´re awesome and high on my wishlist too ha ha ha ha.
CHA always seems to be a hectic time for all of you girls in the crafting industri, but you´ll just have to take a little time of now then and recover your strenght and energy and do all those things, you have been waiting for. And the card today is sooooooooooo gorgeous. Lovely stamp and wonderful bling, I just LOOOOOVES bling, so this is just so me ha ha ha.
have a wonderful week-end hun and so good to have you back with us here again.ReplyCancel

Becca … so glad you are back all safe and sound … your absence was truly felt … we missed you. I am so happy for you that your stamp sets were so well received. I have been looking for nice sentiment stamps for the inside of cards too … starting with holidays, then other special occasions (like birthdays, anniversaries, graduation, get well … and some with just a pleasant greeting.

I attended the Stamp Fest here in Orlando, FL a couple of weeks ago, and looked all over for nice sentiment stamp sets. Although there were many great image sets, they were sadly lacking in card sentiments. I am sure you already have hundreds of idea for your next stamp sets … just adding a few more as food for thought.

Whoops … forget to mention that I adore this card … Love it all, the papers, colors, die cuts, ribbon, bling … and especially the way your lovely sentiment is the focal point of it all. It’s simply beautiful!

Glad you’re back! I forgot that you were at CHA as I checked the “Becca Blog” each day looking for the inspiration, ideas, colors and die combinations that you always seem to provide. You are one busy gal but that’s good…most of the time! Todays card uses one of my favorite colors – teal. Love it and love the new dies for sure! I love the bling!ReplyCancel

It warms my heart to hear how you are encouraged and inspired from CHA! And for me too, among all the these good things, and more, that happened there, the most valuable experiences were the hugs and face-to-face encounters! Far above it all, connecting with you was my highlight, certainly a heavenly gift!

Truly lovely card, Becca! I can hardly wait to see the beauty that comes from your creative mind in the near future as a result of your trip!

And there is no place like home…welcome back!

    Love ‘n hugs to you!ReplyCancel

Becca, we missed you to and oh, how I love your creations. I haven’t the supplies nor the equipment to make something so precious, but I hope to be able to purchase them before winter sets in so I can experiment and make cards as beautiful as some I have seen on these blogs. I love to send out cards to family and friends and I think these beautiful cards would make some one’s day so much more wonderful. Thank you for giving us such great gifts.ReplyCancel
