Loving Memories - ODBD Tag
Sweet Blog Friends, I’m peeking in quick to share a tag that I made and to ask you to be sure to visit me on Saturday.  I have a post scheduled for noon and there’s some pretty cool prizes that I’m giving away.  Mums the word from me right now – you’ll have to come back at noon to see what could possibly be going on for me ask you to meet me back here.  In the mean I’m sharing a quick tag – really.  I made a tag last week and I love how it changes up the whole dynamic when designing.  It doesn’t cover quite as much space as a card but gets to have the same elements!    My tag uses a new sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs called Loving Memories.

I printed out some script on my inkjet printer and from that cut a tag (which is a rectangle with the two top corners lopped off).  From the print I also cut Spellbinders™ Foliage for the leaves.  I stacked the new Spellbinders Fancy Framed Tags One on top of Spellbinders™ Fancy Tags Two to highlight the sentiment.  I’d say those two were made for each other!!  Embellished with a Prima Rose, bow and lace!  That’s it for me – see you tomorrow!!

SUPPLIES I USED

Ink: Amuse – French Roast, Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Foliage, Spellbinders, Spellbinders™ Fancy Tags Twoseam binding, Prima Flower, lace, Recollections Pearls

Thanks for stopping by, see you soon!!

Well blog friends . . . this was slated to go out early this morning but I’ll tell you what happened.  Over the last couple of weeks with CHA pressing down, each time one of my kids came to the house I would tell them that I couldn’t spend more than a quick second, because I had a deadline.  I know that gets old for even a 21 year old kid to hear.  My daughter came to visit today and I couldn’t bear to tell her that one more time that I had something I had to do.  She fully supports me but today I laid the card aside and gave her my undivided attention.  I want you to know I had a wonderful time catching up with her!!    I was adamant yesterday that I would have a card go up :-)
Really, better late than never!!   I’m so thankful for my friends here and abroad.  I’m thankful to have the life I have and the freedoms that I hope to never take for granted.  I also thank those that protect our freedoms, both here and around the world.  I’m the widow of a veteran, the daughter of veteran, the sister of a veteran and very likely to be the mother of a veteran.  I’m proud to say my card is being mailed out to a veteran to let them know how very thankful I am.   If you are a veteran – any veteran, I’m thankful to you.

My paper is an Echo Park digital download from jessicasprague.com and for the sentiment I chose a new one from Our Daily Bread Designs called Sharing Your Sorrow.  After printing paper, I simply cut thel motif out using Spellbinders™ Labels Twenty Four, added ribbon and bow. The sweet flourish is one of the new Spellbinders sets called S5-143 Jewel Flowers and Flourishes.   My pennant flag is made using ribbon and I simply folded it around a corsage pin.  Enjoy the fireworks sweet friends!  Hugs to our friends abroad too!

Love the papers, dies, and everything about this lovely card. Please explain the EP digi when you have a chance…And thanks to all YOUR vets for their service to our country. I have a DH, Father, & 5 brothers, numerous nephews who served. ALL Vets sacrificed for us at home, and deserve everything & anything this country can give them in return. Appreciation of their sacrifice seems a small thank you, BUT…appreciate them we need to!!! And their families’ sacrifice of not having them with them while they serve. A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL!ReplyCancel

Beautiful card, Becca. I hope everyone took a minute to silently thank everyone who has served in a capacity that allows us to have our freedoms. I’m an Army brat, and like most others who have left comments, the sister, aunt, niece, granddaughter and daughter of veterans. And I’ve worked for the military all my life. So, I’m definitely appreciative of everyone who has/is serving. And we need to remember, that it’s just not about those who we’ve lost in wars, etc, but all those who have served.ReplyCancel

Anything else would not be right. As much as I love to see your cards and your work, it´s definitely NOT anything I take for granted either, but something I´m pleased to get, when I can and YOU have the time to share it, but we all have other things in our lifes as well.

My mother is no longer around to tell the exact family history but she had 8 brothers and my grandfather was a farmer, so some of the boys stayed home to help with the farm and some already had families. My father enlisted right after Pearl Harbor and his wife at the time, divorced him because of it. They had a young daughter who never saw her father again because the mother hid her from my dad in spite. His daughter could recall him being sent away without seeing her after he had searched for and found her several times over the years after the war. We got to know her after his death… he paid for his patriotic act in more ways than one. I have a younger brother who has passed on in part because injuries during his service in Vietnam, And now, I have a grandson who is serving in the Navy. On my mother’s side we have family that served in the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. I celebrate our Independence but have some sorrow in my heart for those that have suffered on our behalf for that independence.ReplyCancel

On a lighter note, Becca, your card is delightful and celebratory. Beautiful, as always. A bright note to focus on.ReplyCancel

  • Francie (Montreal)July 5, 2012 - 11:53 am

Hope all my e-pals south of the 49th had a great Independence Day. It does give pause, no matter where we live to give thanks for our wonderful quality of life, for the freedoms and values we hold dear. Also deep appreciation to the great men and women who protect them in all the allied countries of the world. Bravo to you! Spending quality time with family is one of the values we treasure. It makes me happy that you made the time for your daughter, Becca. Lastly, what a lovely card. It says it all.ReplyCancel

Thank you so much for the beautiful card Becca and the wonderful words. I too am the granddaughter of a veteran, daughter of a veteran, a veteran, wife of a veteran, mother of a veteran and hopefully won’t have to be a grandmother of a veteran.. All have been to war and I pray there will be no more wars and our Country can finally have the peace it so graciously deserves… Your card is so beautiful and reminiscent of that. Sweet blog friends,  I hope today is a glorious day for you!   Today is the final day of new releases for Waltzingmouse Stamps. so there’s something new to see.    For the past several days we’ve been showing you the adorable sets that make up the release and today the sets are available in the store!!   Here are the new sets:

  1. Heroines – Fairy Princess
  2. North Shore
  3. My Island
  4. Playful Pinwheels – Designed by our sweet DT member Anya – she’s brilliant!!

If you jumped in the middle of our list, the best way to make your way through the hop is to start at Claire’s Blog (she has lots of news to share so you don’t want to miss beginning there) – she has the complete sequence if you get out of order or if one of the links don’t work. If you have just come here from Tosha’s blog then you are in the right place!   In order complete the hop, leave a comment on as many of the Design Team Members Blogs as you can as a random name is selected from each blog and then a final winner picked from those names.  A winner gets a free set of their choice of Waltzingmouse stamps.  You have until July 4th at 5:59am CST  to leave your comment and a winner will be selected and shown on Claire’s Blog on July 6th.   Stay tuned, below I’ll tell you your next stop along the hop!!

I’m one of those who normally struggles with yellow but this is such a soothing yellow that I actually enjoyed it.  I tried to create a tone on tone card but after a while it was too much and I needed to introduce a pop of color, so I opted for white and white pearls.  When Anya showed us her set and it featured pinwheels I did a little happy dance.  How fun for us and then I remembered one of the new releases for is S5-125 Spellbinders™ Pinwheels!  I used that for the focal point and stacked it on top of Spellbinders™ Lotus Pendants and Spellbinders™ Blossom Tags and Accents.  I stamped the small pinwheels outline and followed up with the filler stamps  –  too easy!!  I cut them out then popped them up on Spellbinders™ Picot Edged Circles

The sentiments for the set are cute and clever – I opted for You are my Whirl – get it?  Pinwheel . . . whirl . . . .!!  Lol, I ran out of room on my card so I tucked the sentiment off to the side on Spellbinders™ Jar Labels.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps:  Waltzingmouse Stamps – Playful Pinwheels
Paper:  The Paper Company
Ink: Colorbox Chalk Ink – Amber Clay, Scattered Straw Distress Ink
Accessories:   S5-125 Spellbinders™ Pinwheels (new), Spellbinders™ Lotus Pendants,  Spellbinders™ Blossom Tags and Accents,  Spellbinders™ Picot Edged Circles,  Spellbinders™ Jar Labels, Recollection Pearls, Seam Binding – Cream, Eyelet Lace, Peg Bow Maker, Pearl Brad

Your next stop on the blog hop is the amazing, talented and very, very sweet Clare Buswell!.

As always, I appreciate that you click on that little open button and share a moment with me.  It’s been so busy the last week and of course with CHA looming there’s no telling what the next week will be like.  Nevertheless, remember that “something good is always on the way”!!!

Your blog is the highlight of my day, I reallly started card making after my husband was diagnosed with cancer some three years ago. Your site has always been the inspiration I needed and when I was at my lowest I would go to your site and just look at all the beautiful cards you have made over the years. You, my dear friend are the reason I have so many spellbinders and gadgets. My husband does not know my secret but he knows what therapy I receive when I am in my craft room. Thank you so much for sharing a part of yourself with us not only on a personal level but your ingenious talent. I hope God continues to bless you each and every day.ReplyCancel

Hi, I don’t know what the above “link” is for so I couldn’t do it. Sorry. I follow your beautiful work almost weekly and have added you to my top l0 sites : 0) I love your idea for buying “nibs” for each color and how to store them. I would like to know what type of nibs those are and what the see thru plastic holder is also??? I have looked up nibs on JoAnn but haven’t see any like yours. What do you recommend??? Thank you so much, another sister in Christ.ReplyCancel

    Good Morning Becca,
This is such a cute card. I love what you did with the pinwheels and how you incorporated them in your card. You always seem to know just the touch to finish off your cards. Love the color yellow, it always reminds me of spring time and warm sunshine. TFS.ReplyCancel
