Amazing Paper Grace - Prayer of St. Francis & Retro Sketch #13
Sweet blog friends, I’m wishing you a blessed Memorial Day as you pay tribute to the men and women who have given their lives in protection of our freedoms as well as those sweet loved ones that have passed on from our every day presence.  My husband was a service disabled veteran and although we celebrate him every day, today is a special day of remembrance.   In fact we pause from the hustle of everyday life to remember all.  I hope today finds you in a mood to celebrate memories . . .

A moment lasts all of a second, but the memory lives on forever.

For my card today the inspiration was this Prayer of St. Francis from Our Daily Bread Designs.  I wanted to create just a tag but the sentiment was wide and having nowhere for embellishments I came across this sketch at Retro Sketches that was perfect!  I started out with a base of Spellbinders™ Labels Seventeen and added an element from Spellbinders™ Ribbon Buckles to make it into a tag.  Boy Howdy, I’ll be using this combination to make more tags in the future :-)   For the cross band I cut Spellbinders™ Classic Decorative Inserts Two and Spellbinders™ Classic Edges Two together.  Nothing like a sketch to keep my want to add embellishments in check, lol!!

I added wispy lace flowers on the right of the tag and a 2″ bow (wrapped 5 times) using the Peg Bow Maker to make the pouff on the top.Amazing Paper Grace - Peg Bow Maker Bow - 2"
I couldn’t resist the opportunity to add three small Recollections Flowers to the bow :-)

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread DesignsPrayer of St. Francis
Paper: Cosmo Cricket (Evangeline Mini Deck 6″), The Paper Company
Ink: Amuse – French Roast
Accessories: Spellbinders™ Ribbon Buckles, Spellbinders™ Classic Decorative Inserts Two, Spellbinders™ Classic Edges Two, Spellbinders™ Labels Seventeen, Seam Binding, Prima Roses, Recollection Pearls, Lace, Peg Bow Maker

Hugs to you all – today is a good day and I thank you ALWAYS from the bottom of my heart, for caring so much!!  Thanks for stopping by, see you soon!!

Amazing Paper Grace - Discover New Oceans - ODBD Tall card
Greetings blog friends, I hope you are having a wonderful family filled holiday weekend.   Despite my ambitions to be extremely productive this weekend, a headache sidelined me to the sofa but the sunny side of that equation was that I got caught up on a couple of movies.   I don’t do that often but I found that there’s nothing like a good laugh to vanquish a nagging headache – I literally laughed out loud through one whole silly, old movie.  Thankfully this got me up and working on a card to share using one of the new sets from Our Daily Bread Designs called Count the Waves.    Using a vintage panel from some Recollections paper I found recently, I tried to leave as much of the panel exposed as possible.  I stamped my sentiment on Spellbinders™ Fancy Tags Two and stenciled through the template while the paper was seated and backed it with Spellbinders™Fancy Tags One.  Because my layers were looking so boxy I decided to add a header using Spellbinders™ Lattice Pendants.

Well, that’s it, short and sweet!!  I’m off to work on some other things while they are sitting out on the table.  Thanks for stopping by, see you soon!!

Spellbinders Filigree Damask Motifs Flower or Bouquet Tutorial
Sweet blog friends, I went out of town over the weekend and came home to a hot, hot house – it seems the AC/Heat system in my house was contemplating retirement.  On a 90 degree inside Monday morning I set about the task of finding a replacement that I hadn’t anticipated having to do for some time.  How good is life?  Well it’s good enough that the nicest repairman came out and fixed it for me.  I really thought it was done but with luck I may make it to winter when costs will be lower.  Well enough of my adventures, so are you curious how many mini glue dots it took to make the bouquet?????  The answer is nine, only nine!!  If you’ll stick around I’ll show you how!!

Spellbinders Filigree Damask Motifs Flower Bouquet
It was a no-brainer to make this card in white – that’s the color I’d pick every time but some of you wrote that you could not see it.  So for my sample today I’m using a thin text weight paper, similar to a typewriter weight, in kraft for a different look that you can see.  Pulling a sentiment out of my Dreams set by Our Daily Bread Designs that says “You Did It”, I stopped myself from stamping inside because I can use this card for a number of occasions now.  The bouquet/flower shape is made using Spellbinders™ Damask Motifs.  With a band across the card using Spellbinders™ Classic Scallop Edgeabilities and Spellbinders™ Classic Decorative Inserts OneI finished off with a resin flower center, a Peg Bow and a Tim Holtz element on the corner.  My quick video will show you how simple it is to pull your own bouquet or flower together!

SUPPLIES I USED
StampsOur Daily Bread Designs  – Dreams
Paper: Cosmo Cricket, Bazzill, thin kraft
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Spellbinders™ Damask MotifsSpellbinders™ Classic Scallop Edgeabilities, Spellbinders™ Classic Decorative Inserts One, Seam Binding, Peg Bow Maker, Laliberi Resin Flower, Pearl Pic, Recollections Pearls, Lace

Thanks so much for hanging in there with me.  The past several months have been full of travel for me and I think I’m home for awhile.  I’m so blessed to be tinkering away happily in the background with some new toys that you’ll be seeing soon!  Smooches!!  Thanks for stopping by, see you soon!!

Becca — I have watched several of your videos in the past and they have been good but the one you did today using the Spellbinders motif was beautiful. However, the reason I am commenting is to commed you on the quality of your video. I am 77 years old and sometimes it is hard for me to hear or see but this video when you zoomed in on the design you made was excellent. Every aspect of the video was so professional and excellent. You get an Emmy from me, if that counts. Sorry about your ac. I think you live in Florida as I do and it is an essential item. Thanks!!ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,

I absolutely love this card!! Your use of Spellbinders in amazing. Spellbinders should consider hiring you to design thier die cuts. The Damask Motif – I think it would make a beautiful Christmas Ornament,
but I bet you already had that in mind.. LOL
