Hello there blog friends!!  I’m so excited to be in Akron and we’re in the midst of setting up for the show – can I say “excited”!!!   What can I say about hundreds of people who are crazy about rubber stamping.  I’m right in there with them, lol!!  So, I wanted to pop in really quick to let you know who won the Becca’s Peg Bow Maker.

Winner, please reach out to me through my contact page within 48 hours and leave your mailing address so that your new toy can be sent out.  Now if you happen to be coming to the Akron show, let me know so that we can get you one there.  If no response within 48 hours, I’ll pull another a name.

Thanks for all the wonderful comments and for reminding of tutorials long since forgotten.  You all are the best!

Hi Becca: In case my other comment didn’t go through, I will comment here. I couldn’t believe it when I opened my e-mail and my name was drawn for Becca’s Peg Bow Maker. I am so excited. Thank you so much. Hopefully I will be able to make pretty bows now. I would love to come to the Akron show, but I am a snowbird from MI, and I am still in FL. I know you will have fun working with Kelley, Rick and Josh. I love them. I will get to see them in Novi, MI in August. They are “super” people. Have a fun time.

  • Cheryl SaforekApril 27, 2012 - 11:57 am

    Becca,

I had my husband make the bow maker when you had the instructions online on how you made one yourself. I did see your you tube video but I understand on you DVD that comes with the bow maker you show 6 types of bows.
I wish I could just purchase your DVD with the different bow making instructions. Do you know if in the further they might consider doing that.
I would love to have one.
Your website is the first I visit every morning with my cup of coffee in hand, you have been such a blessing to me, I believe God directed me to your website so that you could lead me to Our Daily Bread designs so that I can pass on his words to others with making cards using their stamps.

I have already purchased my tickets for the scrapbook convention in IL in June for the sole purpose of visiting their booth, I contacted Josh to make sure they were still going to be there, I am excited to meet them all.

Have a wonderful time at the stamp show.

Good morning friends!  Where would we be without our sweet moms, right?  Are you all set for Mother’s Day?  Yes, it’s that time already and before you know it you’ll be in the crunch to get her something a little special to let her know how you feel about her.  Miracle of miracles, I’m ready.  A big feat since I tend to be a little bit of a “Last Minute Lucy”.  With one of my favorite color palettes I sat down to construct a feminine mothers card using a new set from JustRite Papercrafts called Vintage Rose Medallions.  I started out by creating paper lace using my Spellbinders Edgeabilities – I simply paired Spellbinders™ Classic Scallop Edgeabilities and Spellbinders™ Classic Decorative Inserts One to create one edge, flipped my work and did the same thing down the other side – it really creates a luscious lace!!  In my stash I had a sweet Prima trim with velvet flowers that fit perfectly down the center.

For the focal point on the card I simply stamped one of the Vintage Rose Medallions directly on my design paper.  Then, I cut a layer with Spellbinders™ Parisian Motifs and made a frame out of that layer by cutting using Spellbinders™ Labels Twenty Four — I took a couple of lines of pearls and laid them around the frame (easier than I thought it would be!).  After I cut an additional frame using two of Spellbinders Labels Twenty Four – I topped off with the sweet Mothers Day Banner from the Vintage Rose Medallion set.

SUPPLIES I USED
StampsJustRite Papercrafts – Vintage Rose Medallions
Paper: Coredinations, Recollections Garden Floral
Ink: Victorian Velvet Distress Ink
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Labels Twenty Four,  Spellbinders™ Classic Scallop Edgeabilities, Spellbinders™ Classic Decorative Inserts OneSpellbinders™ Parisian Motifs, Prima trim, ribbon,  Peg Bow Maker – double stacked bow, Recollections Pearls, Corsage Pin (Joann’s), Pearl and Swarovski Crystal
Additional Ideas:  JustRite Gallery Spellbinders Gallery

Don’t forget I’m celebrating getting out of the house and going to a show in Akron by giving away Becca’s Peg Bow Maker – read all about it HERE ;-)  Thanks for stopping by, see you soon!!

What a study in creativity using the dies from Spellbinders and JustRite. The color combination is exceptional and soft and beautiful. What colors are they? Often times the most difficult part of card making is getting two or three colors to coordinate but not distract. Lauren,
I wanted to congratulate you on your great accomplishments. I also wanted to say I’m so proud of you for standing up to make your dreams come true. In honor of your father, you know he is so proud of you, you got what you rightly deserved. I would of done the same thing, being married to a military man who has served and is still serving (33 years) Your father put his life on the line to keep us safe the least they could do is take care of his own.
I also wanted to say you have also been blessed with a wonderful mom who loves the Lord with all her heart. She won’t know this but I went to her site daily when my husband was deployed to Iraq and she inspired me everyday. That is one women I would love to someday meet.
I know the Lord has many blessings in store for you and your life. He will keep you in the palm of His hand.

    Blessings to you!!!

Hi there blog friends, did I tell you how stinkin’ excited I am to be going to Akron, Ohio? Yup . . . this chick is getting out of the house – they’re just gonna have to do without me around here!  I haven’t been to a stamp show in I can’t tell you how long and I for one am ecstatic that this is going to change!!  I’ll never forget my first ventures to far away cities, to show floors filled with things I just love – the inspiration and thrill of being in a convention center surrounded by people who love crafts is an exhilirating feeling that lasts for a long time and is such a confirmation of why I love this craft.  If you haven’t been to one of these shows, you don’t know what you’re missing.  In the past I wasn’t able to go often, but when I did, it was a 6 hour drive east, north or west . . . worth every minute in the car, I might add. So . . . Adventures in Stamping . . . here I come, oh and I’m bringing a little friend of mine –  Becca’s Peg Bow Maker.  If you’ve not seen one and want to know what it does – have a look HERE.  Hey and if you’re at the show and you buy one of these, your name will go in the pot for a raffle for a $25.00 gift certificate for two winners each day.  As long as your name, address and phone number are on the back of your ticket, you don’t have to be present at winning time.

What, When, How, Where and Why
So will you come?  I never get out, so I’m hoping to meet so many of you – it would be an absolute thrill for me.  Adventures in Stamping is in Akron, Ohio over the dates of  April 28 – Aprill 29, 2012 at the John S. Knight Center and you can get more information at their website http://www.adventuresinstamping.info   I’m especially interested in hearing your feedback, so I hope you’ll stop by the Our Daily Bread Designs booth so that I can meet you!!

Reader Giveaway
To celebrate, we’re giving one of these babies away now to a lucky blog reader!!  Leave a comment on this post anytime between now and Thursday, April 26th at 8:00pm to throw your hat in the ring – in your comment let me know which of my tutorials is your favorite!   You can leave one comment each day and using Random.org, we’ll pick a winner on Friday, April 27th.  We’ll be sending out  Becca’s Peg Bow Maker with the enclosed DVD and will ship it to you stateside or internationally.  As an added bonus, if you are an email subscribed reader, you’ll get a bonus surprise – just as a small thanks for letting me clog up your mailbox, lol!!  (By the way, I have a new set of giveaways coming – you’ll want to be a subscriber because from now on I’ll make it standard to send an extra surprise out to anyone who was subscribed by email 30 days prior to the giveaway).  (Insert mischievious giggle here) – you’ll want to be signed up . . .  just sayin’!

Pinterest
By the way, I finally figured out how to get the Pinterest tab on my sidebar.  Cobwebs in my brain were preventing the successful execution of this fairly simple task.  Hey, while you’re leaving a comment for the giveaway, click the follow me on Pinterest button.  If you haven’t signed up for Pinterest, just leave me a message through my contact tab and I’ll send you one.  If you don’t know what Pinterest is, grab a cup of coffee and spend a minute reading at this link:  http://pinterest.com/about/help/

While I’m yakking . . . I know there were some things I was supposed to take care of (hanging head).  I got detoured with something else and when you find out what it is, you’ll forgive me, I promise.  Etsy store is still coming but I’ve been working on several new and wonderful things that have scooped up all my time.  It’s coming I promise :-)  Thanks for stopping by, see you soon!!

Thanks for the chance to win, Becca – and of course, have a safe, wonderful trip. My favorite of your tutorials?????? That is a tough one, there are so many great ones. The one most recently that “caused” me to go buy more EK Success punches, is the one you did about using the deep edger punches to make a framed border – love it, love it, love it. Especially appreciate that you provide dimension info and info about the punches I never knew – like the marks that are on the punches to indicate punch area. Thanks again!ReplyCancel

I am a longtime follower of your blog and I am subscribed to you in every form I think :) Sounds like a stalker! I love all of your tutorials and one of these days, when my craft room is functional, I am going to sit down and try them all one by one! I have a lot of favorites, but one I want to try first is The mitered corner frame with a punch – I think that is what it is called. I wish so much that I could go to Akron, I’ve never been to a stamping show. There aren’t any in Maine. Also, I’ve tried subscribing a bunch of times, but it always tells me image verification failed. All I see are a bunch of ads. I’ve tried typing what is in the ad, what is below the ad, anything I can think of. Most of them are Toyota Ads. But I do have your blog in my side bar so I won’t miss seeing any of your gorgeous cards!

Since I can’t watch You Tube because our internet is too slow, (I live on a tiny island), I am choosing the long Spellbinders storage tutorial. I can’t remember which other ones weren’t video, I’ve tried to see all of them over the last year or so. but I know that is one I really found useful. I’m looking forward to the day when we finally get real DSL here!ReplyCancel

Funny enough I also signed up for Pinterest yesterday. I actually searched for your name (before reading this blog) but did not see it so I will look again. Hugs.ReplyCancel

I enjoyed your tutorials on the bows that you create and when I went to view one a while back they had been removed. O Becca! you have so much good info in all your tutorials! I think that the one that I liked best was a recent one where you make the beautiful lattice background with a Martha Stewart punch – it reminds me of the u-tube one that shows how to make a lace circle or border using corner punches. (I was pretty sure that was you that did that one, eh!) I just love getting new inspiration of how to make my own unique embellishments with tools that I have. You always seem to come up with the most ‘divine’! ideas with tools like that to really personalize our work with. You not only show us what can be done, but how we can apply it to our own creations! a true teacher! Blessings!ReplyCancel

  • sheriApril 22, 2012 - 9:21 pm

My FAVORITE tutorial. Golly, golly, golly! How to choose? The one I refer to the most has to be Becca’s Bows. The one I made the most items from is the Xmas Tree Boxes using Spellbinder’s Nested Pennants. The one I still have not mastered is the woven latice basket (but will try again sometime), All of your tutorials, regardless of subject, have taught me SOMETHING, and that is why I keep looking for more. Thanks so much for sharing your talent and ideas. Enjoy your trip to Ohio. Have a ball, and please fill us in on the happenings when you return.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca, well I don’t know the names of your craft and stamping shows in the US, though I do know about CHA. However, it sounds like you are heading for fun so I pray you have a safe journey and enjoy a wonderful time. As for the favourite tutorial, well for me I am stuck between the right angled corner punching and the tag calender …oh hard decision…..ok I’ll go with the right angled corner punching..It was really inspirational and All my punches are now looked at in a completely new light (but please note tag calender just 1/1000th sec behind.. lol!). You were dinner time conversation tonight when I was out with my bestie and longest-time friend, Star. (Hi, Star!! I know you read Becca’s blog religiously — Becca, Star told me that she has you on a ready-click on her I-Pad!!) Funny thing too, we talked about your Becca Peg Bow Maker and I said (boasted!!) how I have one. What Star doesn’t know is that I was one of the lucky first 100 purchasers, so I got my very own Becca Original card that came with it. TOUCHED by BECCA!!! :) Seriously, you’re inspirational. At any rate, if I win another, I know who’s getting it …. but shhhh, don’t tell her!! Becca, my favorite tutorial … hmmm, maybe your other bow maker. I don’t know if it’s an official tutorial, but the one you have in the little round box with the peg holes surrounding it?? I made one of those after you showed how to make it, and whenever I use it, I refer to it as my “Becca Box Bow.”

Have a wonderful time in Akron. (I never really thought I’d be saying those words together in a sentence. I’ve been to Akron ……) One time my late ex-mother-in-law (got that?) took a bus trip with the end point of Akron, the key destination. I never did understand that. She said she was going to go see the Soap Box Derby Race Course. Mind you, it wasn’t running at the time … she was just going to go see the course. And yup, she came back and showed off the pictures of asphalt and chain link fence. With so many delightful and picturesque places to see, I never will understand the fascination with asphalt and chain link fence, but to each her own, ehhhh?

Now a craft show as a destination???? Another story altogether.

I am a long time e-mail subscriber, and BecAddict.

    Fondly,
    Ellen ? CardMonkeyReplyCancel

Hi Becca….. Sooo excited for you to get to go to the convention in Akron, OH. Awesome girl! I got to attend CHA in LA one year and OMG that was beyond awesome!
My all time favorite tutorial is your RIBBON STORAGE. I can’t tell you how many boxes of ribbons I now have reorganized and the small space that holds it is amazing. Your tutorial was the best one yet I’ve read and I immediately transformed mine to be like yours. THANK YOU!
I am a follower for a long time on your blog. Will have to follow you as well on Pinterest. I’m ADDICTED to that! LOL

I wish your stamp show was in Sacramento instead of Akron…I’d be there for sure!! But I know you’ll have a blast, and your Peg Bow Maker will be a huge hit.

When you initially posted your instructions on how to make one, I begged my hubby to make it for my birthday. But it’s just not the same as yours and the DVD tutorial would be really helpful since it’s not on your blog anymore. I sure hope I’m lucky enough to win, thanks for the chance!!

My favorite tutorial is your Ruffled Flower. I love that you can use many different types of border punches for this! It’s so cute, too!!

I’ve been an email subscriber for a long time, so thanks for an extra surprise if I win :) I’m now following you on Pinterest, too, so thanks for posting your button!

    Hi Becca

How exciting. Hope you have a truly great time. We don’t have anything on quite the same scale here in the UK, but it is great to go to craft fairs and be surrounded by such talent and such beautiful goodies. With regard to your tutorials – I’m not sure which is my favourite but I have to confess the one I have used most is the flap box tutorial. Just about every member of family and friend is the owner of one these gorgeous boxes – some much more ornate than others, depending on the occasion. I just adore it.

Enjoy the convention. Wish I could be there to meet you!

I guess I would have to say that the punch tutorials would have to be top on my list as I have used many of those also. The tutorial I would pick today is the Border Filled Frame.

You did another one using the Martha Stewart border punch which I like almost as well but I’ll save that for another day.

After that would be the Bow Maker tutorial, but I don’t remember how to make the bows (always had to run to the computer when making one) and there are no longer any instructions. Waaaaaaa ! ! Everyone loved the bows and considered them my signature piece on my cards no matter how many times I told them that these were Becca’s Bows!! The bow maker is collecting dust in a corner of my craft room; now little more than a decoration with all the lovely bits I added to personalize it and make it beautiful just for me. (Sigh…) I’m not creative in that direction, so “bye, bye Becca Bows; hello plain old bows.

Unless I win one! I would give the Bow Maker to my sister and we could share the CD. She has been wanting one but I used stuff I just happened to have around because we had just done some remodeling when I made mine from your tutorial.

I am one of your Frugal Crafters (by necessity) and can’t quite justify buying one even though I know the craftsmanship is way beyond mine and I think it is a great value (I couldn’t purchase the materials I would need for less than your price unless everything was on a super sale as were the items for my original one).. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!!!

Enjoy your trip! BTW… Akron is little more than a suburb of Cleveland although a very nice town with super nice people. (Cleveland’s nickname is “The Mistake By The Lake”). You’ll have to let us know if the smell of the tire factories is still strong in the air in Akron. Probably much of the tire industry has moved but, if not, you’ll get the smell of burning rubber wafting in the breeze 24/7….ReplyCancel

Haven’t commented in a while…life does interfere…but I have been looking almost daily. I find it really difficult to pick a favorite tutorial, but I’d have to say the one about using seam binding as ribbon. I jumped online immediately following that tutorial and purchase some rolls of seam binding (that I’m sad to say are languishing in my ribbon keeper) so I can custom dye them and use my version of your peg bow maker and the little round bow maker (can’t remember what you called it) that I do use a bit. I am very new to the papercraft world! I feel that there aren’t too many papercrafters in my age group(20-25)… I am ready to change that. :-) I already have a small following so I have high hopes! Even my boyfriend likes to diddle around with my grand calibur. I SUCK at bows though! Which is really bad since I’m currently working at a flower shop where that skill is a wee bit essential.. :-/ Narrowing the tutorial down was hard but my top pick would have to be Cuttlebug Circular Embossing Tutorial! Hello Awesomeness! Works like a charm and how clever do I feel?! I really hope that I can feel that way about bows too! Thank You for ALL that you do for your crafting followers! As for my favorite tutorial — umm, all of them! LOL, but if I had to choose just one, it would be the way you created the punched border frame. I don’t have a bow maker, and I would definitely LOVE to have one of yours. Safe travels and Hugs, KellyReplyCancel

I just was looking back over your tutorials, and have a hard time choosing just one favorite, because they’re all so good. Although I have watched almost all the tutorials once, twice,…… I have watched the Border FIlled Frame several times (love it) and finally found the punch in town. While I was out buying, buying and buying, I picked up the Spellbinders Grand Calibur and several die cuts and another linear punch to try on a frame. I decided thats enough until I get more coupons. I am almost ready to make my first elaborate card…..LOVE them all. You are so talented!!ReplyCancel

I was one of the early ones to get the Bow Maker. I really love it. I don’t know which tutorial I like best it’s really hard to choose. I like the tutorial for the bowmaker. I’ve made a few bows for my cards and I got a favorable response. The bow maker makes it goof proof to make a beautiful bow or bows. Thanks for designing it. I love all your Beautiful Cards. Righto!!! Second choice for favorite tutorial would be “Perfect Mitered Frame using Border Punch”. This has saved me so much money by not having to buy those sets of border & corner punches which are WAY expensive! I am concerned that these favorite tutorials are going to go away just as the Becca Bows did. When a designer has step-by-step instructions that I can print out, I do that so that I can refer back to the technique when I need to. With these video tutorials, I’m not sure what to do. Gonna have to check with DH; he’s my computer go-to person.ReplyCancel

I have given four, yes FOUR, of your bow makers as gifts so far and my friends were all thrilled with them! I still don’t have one myself but I do have one my Dear Husband made for me following your instructions! (Gee whizz! I bet THAT comment puts me out of the running for the prize give away!) My heart is to bring encouragement and blessing to them. So, I need to pray and am asking others to do so.
